Chapter 7 - Ice Ice Baby

"R-raven..." Beast Boys voice trembled, a mixture of emotion. He just stood there and stared at the lifeless body, angry, guilty and afraid. Everything seemed to move slower as Robin ran to Raven, sliding on his knees right beside her and pulling her into his arms. Screaming her name over and over, begging it not to be true...wait...that wasn't Robin. Beast Boy looked at Ravens body in his arms and realised he has been almost watching himself as the events unfolded. He cried, tears free flowing down His cheeks, into the nape of her cold neck.

"Raven please...I need you...I need you so much. I can't live without you. RAVEN PLEASE!" His voice broke and he threw himself on top of her, holding on for any chance at life. Robin, who was glaring up at the panel in the floor because of a soft chuckle he had heard, finally determined that Raven was more important than catching Terra. He walked over to Beast Boy and started to pull him away. Beast Boy screamed in defiance and fought back.

"DONT TAKE HER FROM ME!" His plea was desperate, a broken man. His heart had been torn to pieces and without Raven...

Robin took him by the collar and shook him. He leaned down and whispered to Beast Boy, "We must get her out of the cold. I need you to protect her. Terra might still be here."

Beast Boys eyes cleared and he seemed to understand. He took one longing look back at Raven and turned back to Robin, dangerous anger flashing inside his eyes. Robin saw something in those eyes he had only felt in his own. Without a second thought Beast Boy turned into a hawk and flew up through the panel to scout the way.

Robin scooped Raven into his arms, finally allowing a few tears to fall. She was stiff and the feeling of death against his skin was a horrible one. He felt for a pulse, just in case, and found absolutely nothing.

"Oh Raven...Oh god I'm so sorry...". He used his grappling hook to swing upwards carefully, into Ravens trashed room. There was no reason to be quick now. He slowly walked through the halls of Titan Tower, headed for the medical bay. He didn't know why that was the place he was going but it was. He looked down at Raven's face and saw her eyes had been frozen shut. Before he could think about it too much a green phoenix landed in front of him and turned back into Beast Boy.

"The tower is clear. She's gone." He said it through clenched teeth and then looked down at Raven and his face softened.

"Oh god...Raven...its not fair..." He swept tears from his eyes and quickly took the girl from Robins arms, cradling her against his chest.

"Take her to the medical bay Beast Boy. I'm going to go find and tell the others." Beast Boy nodded and turned away, not letting the sobs shake his body and began walking. How could he have not known? How could he not believe her when she didn't trust Terra? He felt like such a fool. He remembered seeing the little scratches on the ground and shuddered. Two and a half days down there, alone...cold...and now dead. He couldn't bear the thought. As he approached the medical bay he looked down at her and sighed heavily, a rock of grief laying on his heart. Her poor eyes had been frozen half shut and it hurt his heart to see that. He entered the medical bay and began preparing for his life without Raven.

(Well there it is, I hope you enjoyed, more to come!)
