It's been almost a week since Eden's little drunken episode. It's been almost a week since she's heard from Steve. She didn't think much of it at first, she acted foolishly and he probably needed time to cool off. It wasn't until the third day hit and he didn't answer her calls that she started to get nervous. By the sixth day, Eden was a mess. She had known Steve for two months now and he never seemed to stay away for so long. She missed him and that made her mad. How can a person become so attached to someone after only two months? Why did she care so much about a man she's known for such a short period of time? Why did his disappearance hurt her so much?

Eden was working but as she waited tables and made sure the drunken clients were happy, her mind wasn't in it. She was thinking of Steve, like she did most of the time. She didn't realize until he was gone how little she actually knew about him. She felt like she knew him more than a lot of people, he confided in her and told her about a lot of his past but she didn't know the big things like where he lived, where he worked, or even who his friends are. The question of actuality started to creep up on Eden. Was Steve actually interested in her or did she imagine the whole thing?

She shook the dismal thoughts from her head as she entered the kitchen of the event center, Steve must have felt something for her. She bumped into another waitress.

"You ok girl? You don't look like yourself."

Eden didn't have many friends, she didn't trust people easy and she doesn't get out often but she has grown close to Lindsey, a fellow waitress with the catering company, and Megan, the bartender. After a year, she's felt like she can call the two girls friends.

"I'm fine, Lindsey," she smiled, "just got some things on my mind."

Lindsey gave a sympathetic smile in return and grabbed Eden's arm, "How about you, Megan, and I grab a drink when we're done."

Eden knew her well enough to know that her statement wasn't really a request but more of a demand and that fighting with her about it would be pointless.

"Just one, ok?"

It was late by the time the three finally got off; Eden convinced them to just go back to her place instead of a bar. So the ladies all piled into Eden's cherry red falcon and set off in the direction of her apartment. She just hoped Noah wasn't around; not only did he like to cause the occasional scene or two, he always took a little too much notice to Megan.

Lindsey didn't wait until they got back to her place before she started asking questions about what was on Eden's mind.

Eden bit her lip, "well do you remember the guy I told you about a couple of weeks ago?"

"I don't know, you talk about so many men," Megan joked.

Lindsey smiled, "What about him?"

"Well I haven't heard from him in almost a week," Eden gripped the wheel hard, getting the feeling like she was about to explode, "I got really drunk last Friday night after that horrible day at work, you know where I got all flustered at work, and I ended up call him and asked him to come over."

"Oh my god, Eden! I know you didn't hook up and not tell us about it!" Megan squealed, Lindsey smiled, and Eden blushed.

"NO! No that's not what happened. I just called him and he came over. He was really sweet and took care of me. I ended up falling asleep on the couch with him. He got a call at some ungodly hour and we made out and he left really suddenly. That's the last I heard from him, he hasn't returned my calls and he's usually really good at that!"

The girls were silent, thinking about what to say to make her feel better. Megan was the first to speak, "Maybe he's just busy. It's only been a week, that's not that long."

"Yeah," Lindsey added, "you know how guys are. A week really isn't long to them."

"Really? You don't think he's really mad at me for being totally drunk and calling him? Or maybe I was just moving too fast…"

"Eden, no one would blame you for going too fast or for being drunk. If he did, he's not worth your time."

She sighed, "Steve is just so good and I'm… well I'm not."

"Are you kidding," Megan nearly yelled, "you are one of the most kind, loving, beautiful girls out there! This Steve guy, he doesn't even come close to you!"

Eden laughed, oh if they only knew.

The girls chatted about other things as they walked up the stairs to Eden's apartment. She tried to add to whatever they were talking about but Eden wasn't doing a very good job. She was starting to get angry at herself for behavior, yes she was upset that she hadn't heard from Steve but she didn't want to the girl that would bring everyone down as well. Her anger quickly turned to dread as they approached her door. She heard Noah's voice through the paper thin walls, praying that he was on the phone and not talking to someone present in her apartment. Noah rarely brought people back to the apartment, he knew better than that.

Eden sighed as she opened the door and motioned for her friends to event first. She heard a greeting from Noah but it didn't register as she ran into Lindsey and Meagan, the two seemed to be frozen to the spot. Confused she pushed passed them to see Noah standing opposite of Steve. She couldn't help but smile and let out a relieved sigh, she wanted to run and throw her arms around him but she managed to hold herself together in front of the room full of people. Noah was smiling too, actually it was more of a smirk, "I let him in, hope that's ok."

"Yeah."

Eden mumbled as her (and the two other girls) eyes stayed locked on Steve. Noah laughed and walked toward the girls, "Alright ladies, how about we give these two sometime alone? Come on, I'll buy you a drink."

As Noah pulled her two friends out the door she heard whispers, 'that's Steve?!' and 'good for Eden!' that's when Eden blushed and looked away hoping he hadn't heard. She didn't look or say anything as she crossed room and plopped her purse down on the table.

"Hey," Steve smiled awkwardly, her response was simple.

"Hi." She didn't know if she should beg for his forgiveness or be angry that he ignored her. She looked at him again; he didn't look mad or upset but happy to see her, his blue eyes looked tired, a outline of a bruise lingered on his right cheek, and a couple of cuts were visible on his neck. She realized he looked like hell but he was hiding it very well. She didn't know what to do, so many thoughts were flying through her head, so she just stayed quiet and left a good 10 feet of space between them.

Finally Steve broke the silence, "I'm sorry I haven't called."

"Why didn't you?" She asked meekly, not knowing if she wanted to hear the answer.

"I was working and I couldn't. I'm sorry."

She nodded slow, wanting to believe him but having a hard time doing it, "You didn't have five seconds to text me and say that?"

"I'm sorry," he sighed and took a few steps closer, "I really didn't. I couldn't- It's really complicated…"

Every part of him wanted to tell Eden the truth that he was a super solider and he couldn't call because he was fighting crazy people in Russia or dealing with debriefings for said fight. He wanted to tell her everything but he didn't know where to start or how she would react. He swallowed his fears and decided to just come out and say it, tell Eden that he was an Avenger, he was Captain America. "Eden, I-"

She started laughing, throwing Steve into complete confusion, "What?"

"I've been freaking out," her laughing slowed, "I thought you were just really mad at me."

She filled the space between them by throwing her arms around his neck and pulling him into a hug. He smiled, missing the way she smelled and the way she felt in his arms. "Why would I be mad at you?"

Eden just shook her head, joyful to have him here again, "oh it doesn't matter."

She kissed him on cheek as she let him go.

"I'm just glad your back but don't you pull that again!"

"Yes ma'am," He smiled, this time he kissed her on the lips. The kiss only lasted a second, it was interrupted by yawn.

"Sorry, Steve," she blushed, "I had a long night at work."

"That's alright; I should probably let you get some sleep."

The coupled walked slowly to the door, both relieved and exhausted. Before he said his goodbyes, Steve stopped and turned to face Eden. "There is this party tomorrow night and I was wondering if you wanted to go with me."

She gave a soft smile, giggling at his nervousness, "I'd love to but I have to work."

He was disappointed and so was she, she would much rather spend the evening with him instead of working. "Well another time then?"

She smiled and nodded, letting another yawn escape. He gave a kiss on the cheek, "Goodnight Eden, I'll talk to you soon."

"You better!" She winked.
