Beauty Contest

On Monday, there was a flyer on almost everyone's locker, advertising a Beauty Contest. Every girl practically joined up for it. It was to be held on Friday during the last period. Kori saw the flyer and wondered if she might join. She went to the office and asked for a sign up sheet. She knew that she probably wouldn't win, but it was about making new friends.

She went to her home room and told her friends that she joined the Beauty Contest. Everyone told her that she was most likely to win, but she knew she wasn't and she was happy for the support. Bumble Bee joined up too and when she found out that Kori joined she knew that there was competition.

"You know, I'm extremely surprised that we didn't see Kitten at the dance," Cyborg said.

"You know you're right!" Beast boy exclaimed.

"Well she was out of town with her family for the weekend, apparently," Robin said. "You know she's always letting me know about her going out of town, but she's most likely back today." Robin looked at Kori to see her face expression, but Kori just looked interested in what he had to say more than she looked jealous.

When Kori got to her next class, she told Raven that she joined the beauty contest. Raven never thought of joining, she thought it was pointless to see girls getting dressed up to see who was the prettiest, it seemed like an insult and unfair but nonetheless she was supportive of Kori.

"I saw you wear that spaghetti shirt and those jeans, why don't you wear them to school?" Raven asked.

"Oh my parents don't let me wear the 'informal clothes' to school, they think a school uniform is proper." Kori explained.

Everyone in school was wearing informal clothes, except Kori. Kori's parents put her in a private school before, but decided Kori needed to see what public school life was like. Knowing Kori, they figured she would do good in a public school with her grades and felt that she was capable not succumbing to bad influence.

On her way to her next class, Mr. Wilkinson was not in class. Every student in that class was yelling and hanging off the chandeliers. A teacher came in and told the class that Mr. Wilkinson had a conference with a parent. Kori thought, that's my dad. Her dad never had a problem with a teacher like Mr. Wilkinson before, Kori's former teachers absolutely loved Kori. This was his consequence for putting her in a public school, he thought.

"Hey I'm Herald," Said a boy who introduced himself at lunch to Kori.

"Hi, I'm Kori."

"Kori, huh? You seem very formal, Kori."

"I did come from a private school," Kori explained.

"Well I like the clothing and the red hair, you are gorgeous." He told her confidently.

"Well thank you," The group looked at Kori and Herald chatting right by them. Robin stared at Kori.

"Hey Herald, you don't know how to stop by and say what's up anymore?" Beast boy looked at Herald.

"Hey man, how are you?" Herald looked away to see Beast boy giving him a face.

"Can't complain."

"Well I'll be seeing you around Kori," Herald walked away.

"Oooh girl, getting all the attention!" Bumble Bee yelled as Kori looked embarrassed, "In that case, you'll probably be winning that Beauty Contest."

"I plan on it," Kori blushed.

"Why didn't you join the contest, Raven?" Bumble bee added.

"It's pointless, its a man's world, I plan on taking no part in, but it doesn't mean I don't plan on supporting anyone who wants to join." Raven sounded dark.

"At least you're honest," Beast boy smiled at her and Raven looked away before she turned red.

Kitten, a small blonde big blue eyed girl walked up to the group and saw Kori standing too close to Robin. Kitten came up to her, with her sour face like she just sucked on a lemon. Her blonde hair swaying with the wind.

"I heard you're in the Beauty Contest," She said evilly, "I haven't met you, what's your name?" Robin looked at Kitten and looked frustrated.

"Yes, that is correct," Kori told her, "I'm Kori, you are?"

"Ha, there is not competition here! It's so obvious, a red head such as yourself isn't going to win against a blondie like me, sweetie. You're too ugly." Kitten giggled as she ignored Kori's question.

Robin interrupted, "Kitten, why do you have to create these silly fights?"

"Yeah, what's the matter with you?" Beast boy asked.

"Jealous much?" Raven looked at her.

"Of course not, like I said, there is not competition when I'm a contestant." Kitten told them. "Toots, there's no way you can win, just get out of it now." Kitten went on ignoring everyone's remarks.

"You're Kitten? Okay, I understand now, can you go away? Kori asked politely.

"Why? All upset that I'm telling how ugly you are?" Kitten said putting her hands on her hips.

"That is ENOUGH!" Robin grabbed Kitten, "Why don't you just listen to her and go away?" Kitten looked at him upset and angry.

"No, why should I have to listen to that red headed whore?" She shrieked as she got out of Robin's grip and jumped up at Kori.

"Whoa, all this for a Beauty Contest?" Beast boy asked, surprised.

Kitten pulled on Kori's hair some more and Kori kicked Kitten off of her. Kori touched her scalp and started rubbing on it. Kitten ran up to her again, charging this time, but Kori swung a leg at Kitten making Kitten stumble. Kitten aimed grabbed Kori's neck and started slapping her face. Cyborg and Robin got a hold of Kitten and tried to stop her. She was acting wild, she seemed to have calm down before jumping on Kori again. Kori lay on the floor with Kitten on top of her. Kitten pulled some of Kori's hair out and started slapping her face really hard. Kitten didn't want to punch, because she had just gotten a manicure done the previous weekend. That's when Kori made a fist and punched her right in the face. The whole time Robin and Cyborg were getting Kitten off of Kori and once pried off Kori lay there with a bloody nose and a bruised cheek. Kitten had already gotten her bruises and a slightly black eye. They were both panting and Robin looked at Kitten and shook his head in disgust. Kitten pushed him off of her and looked at Kori.

"You're a terrible fighter, you think you're still going to win!" Kitten shrieked.

"Don't listen to her," Robin whispered to Kori while picking her up off the ground.

Raven and Bumble Bee took Kori to clean her up in the bathroom. They washed her face and took a paper towel and wiped off some of the blood dripping from Kori's head.

"Do you think I still have a chance at winning?" Kori asked both of them.

"Of course, girl!" Bumble Bee said, "Show them your confidence and they'll eat it up. Honestly, girl, I didn't think you could fight."

"I guess." Kori said as Bumble Bee kept wiping blood away.

Outside

"Wait, I think Kori's nickname is coming to me. How about Fire Fists or Fire?" Beast boy asked.

"No, it doesn't all apply to her. The name has to fit her personality. Or something." Robin said.

"May be I'll get a nickname soon, but I will try." Beast boy said.

"I can't believe it, Kori fighting like that? That round house kick! Wow." Cyborg said.

"May be she gets it from some one." Robin stated.

"I thought the whole time she was this proper, etiquette, dainty girl! Wow what a woman!" Cyborg said as Robin looked at him.
