Here comes the unique pairing I spoke of last time. Big thanks to Golden Demon Wolf Phantom for the suggestion!

Please enjoy.

The alicorn being known as Nightmare Moon looked out at the night sky from the balcony of the Castle of Friendship as the moon was raised up. But not by her own power. No, that job was being done by the original Princess of the Night: Luna. Nightmare let out a sigh. It was hard to believe that more than one hundred years ago, she had corrupted and controlled Luna's being, forcing an eternal night upon all of Equestria. That had been thwarted by Princess Celestia when she used the Elements of Harmony to banish her to the moon. Afterwards, Nightmare Moon had returned and brought the eternal night back, but on the very day she returned, Twilight Sparkle and her friends had discovered and harnessed the Elements against her. However, they had not acted alone. An old friend and lover of Luna's had been with them: Phantom Void, the son of King Sombra. Using a soul-separation spell combined with the power of the Elements, Phantom managed to separate Nightmare Moon from Luna completely, causing them to become two separate beings. Afterwards, they had imprisoned Moon for a while, but shortly after the Equestrians tried a different approach. With Celestia's guidance, Nightmare Moon began the slow process of reforming herself. Eventually, the results were satisfying and Nightmare Moon was no more a threat to Equestria. She became a protector of Equestria, sharing the task of protecting the night with Luna, as she should have done long ago.

Moon sighed to herself again as she looked up at the night sky. So beautiful and peaceful too. It was almost hard to believe that she once would've used this beauty for her own benefits...

"Penny for your thoughts, Princess?" a familiar voice asked. Moon smiled as she turned to the speaker behind her. TD stood before her in his human form, making him almost stand at her height exactly. He was smiling warmly at her as he approached.

"Hello William," Nightmare Moon greeted warmly, "I was thinking about something."

"Ah, I see," TD replied with a nod. He then looked out at the sky with her, peering into the seemingly numbers of stars.

"It's beautiful tonight, isn't it?" Moon asked.

"Every night in Equestria is a beautiful night," TD answered, his interest not wavering yet. He eventually turned to look at the alicorn next to him as memories of their past interactions came to mind.

When TD had arrived in Equestria, Nightmare Moon was among those at the first attack who had been able to fight back efficiently. The second time TD had attacked, Nightmare Moon had been the only one still standing after he had taken down everypony else, and she had fought him personally. Of course, she lost but TD didn't kill her as expected. Instead, he had spared her life and created a compromise between himself and the Equestrians. Nightmare Moon had eventually turned into a close friend to TD. When TD's dark side had returned and the third attack had begun, Nightmare Moon had at first attempted to keep his darker side at bay while waiting for Twilight and the others to show up. She had failed, but not before slowing TD down significantly. TD had spared her, as he didn't want to kill her, but the finishing touch had arrived when TD had attempted to kill Celestia. In desperation to save her friend, Nightmare Moon had jumped into the path of his spell and had almost lost her life. TD had not wanted to kill his friend, so he surrendered Equestria back to its proper inhabitants. Even so, he refused to leave Moon's side until she had recovered again. The idea of losing her had stunned the Lord of Chaos, but even more when he realized why he was so concerned about losing her. He cared for her, more than she could realize. But she never knew, for he had yet to tell her...

"Is something wrong, William?" Moon asked the human. She had noticed his troubled condition and wished to help him in some way. TD looked to Moon and managed a smile.

"I was thinking about something," he answered truthfully, but still not revealing everything yet.

"What is it?" the alicorn asked. TD sighed. It was a rather touchy topic for him, and he wasn't exactly the social type either.

"Well, you see...I uh- I think I might...have a crush on you..."

Moon was a bit surprised to hear this.

"Huh? What do you mean?"

"Just that," TD replied, "I thought that I was hallucinating before or just jumping to conclusions, but eventually it developed into...something else."

TD looked her in the eyes, which required him to raise his head somewhat.

"I have fallen in love with you, Nightmare Moon."

"Huh?" Moon was stunned by his words.

"It's true. I have for a long time now, but I didn't want to admit it at first. That, and it took me awhile to realize the truth about how I felt. I'm sorry if this is overwhelming for you. I understand if you don't-"

Moon stopped him by placing her front hoof beneath his chin and lifting his head up to look her in the eyes fully. There was no anger or rejection in her eyes. Rather, there was something else there that TD had seen before. As if to confirm his belief of what he saw in her eyes, TD sensed her emotions through their contact with each other and the suspected emotion shone brighter than all the others. Moon smiled and asked, "Why didn't you tell me sooner?"

"Because we weren't exactly friends before," TD replied, a smile managing to form on his face too. Moon pulled him to her and gave him a passionate kiss, which the human returned just as passionately. His arms wrapped around her torso as she brought her front hooves around him as well, pulling him closer to her. They deepened the kiss as one of TD's hands ran through her stary flowing mane in a gentle caressing manner. The alicorn responded by wrapping one of her large wings around him and returned the caresses. After a few minutes, they ended the kiss, but they were still within each other's embrace. TD smiled as he stared into her lovely eyes. They were almost like stars themselves, shining brightly in the night air. His own eyes shone as well, having turned into his draconic eyes sometime ago.

"Here's a nice story to tell everyone," TD said with a chuckle.

Nightmare Moon chuckled, then asked, "I was wondering, since Luna is taking charge tonight, would you care to stay with me for the rest of the night, my love? It seems we have a lot to discuss tonight."

TD gave her a playful smile. "It would be my pleasure, madam. But if you don't mind, I'd like to stay here for a moment longer and savor this moment with you."

"Fair enough," the alicorn stated, then brought him into another kiss. The moon shone brightly upon the two as they shared this moment together.

TD looked away from the Palantir as the vision ended. An amused smile was on his face.

"So, Phantom Void has more power to him than he lets on?" he said to himself. "Curious. Well, guess these can help you learn more than what could've been."

TD walked out of the room as the Palantir glowed slightly, ready for another peek into the unknown. He stopped at the door as another thought came to him, but not a pleasant one.

"What if these eventually show what I could've done as the villain?"

This was a fun one to do. Thanks again Golden Demon Wolf Phantom for giving me this shipping pair. For any of you who are worried about TD's unpleasant thought, don't worry. I plan on doing that much later on, and even then I'll give a slight warning to others who don't like the idea of him going back on the villain train.

Lemme know what else you think, and I'll see ya later, homies! Peace!
