Maria Gomez Alcardo was married and had one child, three step-daughters and 7 grandchildren. She went on to law school and became a judge who did meditation. She was also a Circuit Judge in Dade County who handled bankruptcy and estate taxes. She was very surprised that she had been recommended to become a US Supreme Court Justice.

Everyone knew that Horatio Caine was the father of her 31 year old son Juan. She had married Victor Alcardo who was 10 years older than she about 20 years ago. He had been widowed for several years and had three daughters. As far as her personal life relating to her family, there were no secrets.

Sometimes she had some regrets about not having more children, but she really would have had a difficult time of it, given her work schedule. It would have been very difficult if her mother and aunt hadn't helped her out. From her son, she had a granddaughter and grandson. She also had grandchildren from her step-daughters who she considered to be her own. For the most part, the family got along.

Her family background had been investigated as well as her medical history and other areas of her life. She had never mentioned the attempted sexual assault nor was this noted in her medical history which had surprised her. But then she remembered that she had never told her doctor about the assault. She was also surprised when she looked into this that there was no record of her emergency room visit. Had someone had it purged from the record to protect her? Was it not there because it was old? 1980 was a very long time ago.

She looked across the table at Father Hector who had come over to see her. She had told him the entire story. She was shocked to find out that Jose Rodriguez was still alive. He had lied to protect her.

"I need to come clean with this."

After contacting those investigating Mark Durbin, Maria decided to go public with it.
