Hi there everyone! So the fact that people are still reading my story and following it, even though I am a terrible writer and haven't updated since the dark ages, is amazing! I can't thank you enough, here is a short chapter just to get things up and running again. I hope you like it, leave a review if you fancy I love hearing from you. Thanks, and enjoy!
Everything was nothing more than a blur to Pan as she hastened after her quarry. Twisting and turning through the belly of the Helicarrier, her heart beat a rapid rhythm into her ribs as she easily navigated her way along the fastest path that would lead to the upper deck. I must stop him, her thoughts focus on the last image she had of her friend, forcing her onwards faster and faster. With her mutation removing the acid from her muscles Pan was able to run faster and longer than anyone she had known. Putting her gift to good use she turned one last corner and came to a sharp stop under a large square grate at least two foot above her head. Sparing a mere glance around the service corridor in which she now stood, Pan sheathed her katana and rapidly scaled the walls using the piping for handholds. With anger and determination fueling her movements she grabbed hold of a pipe in the ceiling and used all of her strength and weight to kick both feet out, in an effort to dislodge it.
It took her a few repeated kicks to remove the metal hatch and as the final frustrated attack made contact it swung open, at the same time a crack sounded as something in her left knee slipped. Gritting her teeth Pan didn't pause, moving her body toward the opening she expertly scaled up and out onto the deck. Standing favoring her right side she felt her knee correct itself but took no notice as the wind howled around her. Pan shifted her feet for balance as she felt the Helicarrier spin, it still plummeting toward the ground. This didn't last much longer as the engine that was dramatically on fire behind her started up again, beginning to right the air ship.
Pan had noticed the lone jet on deck instantly and like a sprinter out of the starting blocks she ran to catch up with her quarry. I'm not going to make it! Dread flowed through her at this thought, the adrenaline rushed within her veins causing Pan to push for more speed. Even crossing the Helicarrier's deck at a dead sprint she could tell she wouldn't be able to stop Loki, but he was so close, striding toward the jet just as she had seen earlier. This Loki however turned to look behind, seeming to sense her presence and with a subtle surprised expression crossing his face he continued on his way. Stepping up the jet's ramp he turned once more to watch her dash after him.
It was in the next moment that Pan made yet another mad choice. She watched as the jet start to take off threatening to let Loki escape and ruin her chance to stop the chaotic God. This was not an option, so giving one last burst of energy Pan crouched and leapt as high into the air as she could, her arms reached out just enough to allow her to grasp the end of the jet's ramp. Pain flared through her arms as her muscles protested at their misuse, it barely lasted long enough for her to give it any thought. She was quickly preoccupied by the fact that she was currently hanging from the back of a quinjet thousands of feet in the air over the ocean.
"Well, well. Aren't you convicted." Loki's words were nearly wiped away by the wind as he stepped down the ramp toward her. She fumbled her grip on the ramp as her legs swung beneath her. The worry on her face must have been plain to see as he crouched in front of her, the sceptre in his hand now close to her face. She could feel that coldness creeping into the back of her mind.
"There you are. Let go, give over your control to me." He said this with a smile as Pan shook her head, the coldness getting ever closer as her vision started to fade. Everything suddenly seemed calmer as her mind and features relaxed.
"Now isn't this better?" The question was joined with an offered hand, which she gladly took. He helped her up and into the jet with ease, revealing his strength.
"Where to next then, Sir?" Pan asked with a blank expression, standing at ease before her new commander. She finally understood, everything was now so clear.
Loki smiled in return, "Onwards, we have a war to start my dear." He motioned for her to sit, and as the ramp closed behind them, he took one of the seats opposite her.
