One month later.

They had four Germans on their knees, hands behind their heads, and a stone-set gaze in their eyes. Aldo paced back and forth, juggling his knife back and forth within his hands as Wicki, Kagan, Utivich, and Donny stood back, their rifles ready. Stiglitz, and Omar were further down the hill watching the camp. Abby meanwhile sat on the hill and watched the scene unfold. She sat there in her Gypsy skirt, and forest green shall. Utivich usually let her borrow his green worn jacket whenever he was wearing his leather one, today it was thrown over her shoulders as she watched down below. She had her dusty boots on, which were halfway caked with dark mud.

She was lost in her own thoughts. Sitting there, starting up at the trees she wondered how on Earth she had gotten here? A month ago by the stream she had admitted to Donny about her self induced miscarriage she had with Landa. Shutting her eyes she tried to push that horrible memory away. Remembering the blood soaked sheets, the look of utter outraged on Landa's face as he threw her to the ground, screaming and forcing his hands around her neck.

"You killed my son!"

Abby remembered as those words echoed through her mind. She remembered the bitter taste of the liquid as she swallowed it, and then felt those horrible cramps just a few hours later. She remembered bleeding and crying after she knocked Landa out with the vase, who she stuffed her few belongings in her bag before running out.

She ran and she ran, she ran like the devil was chasing her.

She could never tell Wicki what happened, even though she knew he would be more than understanding, and comforting. But having him know that part of "The Jew Hunter" had once grown inside of her…she didn't think she could bear to even think of it. Now a month had past, Aldo allowed her to follow as long as she pulled her weight and didn't drag them down. She had grown distant from everyone, and usually kept to herself. Wicki was worried about her and whenever he tried to touch her she would flinch. She couldn't help it, it seemed every time she closed her eyes she saw Landa's crazed eyes trying to strangle her, screaming that she killed his son.

Thinking of how bitter the poison was when she drank it, her stomach turned. In the past year or so she had gone through so much she honestly didn't know if she liked herself anymore.

Trying to think of the farm back home a single tear rolled down her face. Somehow in her heart she knew Wicki hadn't died. Somehow she knew if that really was the case she would of died the moment her heart knew it was the truth. Instead she simply became lost…

Became a whore, killed a monster's child, and now was back with the man she honestly would die for. Had fate really taken her here? Glancing down at Donny who paced back and forth with his bat she sighed.

She loved Donny, but in a different way. Still she couldn't believe the changes that she had found Wicki and him, and that they knew each other.

Donny was the only one who knew about the miscarriage and had sworn never to tell a soul. Abby respected him for this and knew deep in her heart that he still loved her.

Pulling Utivich's jacket closed, she stared up at the sky and wondered if things would honestly work out? Would this war ever end? Would she be able to go back home with Wicki without breaking Donny's heart yet again, and would she finally get this horrible nightmare out of her head?

Most nights she slept alone, Wicki was always beside her, protecting in a way…but she couldn't bring herself to be touched again. Most evenings Wicki and her would simply just sit together, side by side as Wicki smoked a cigarette and held her hand. He would ask her honestly what was wrong and she would shake her head, hardly able to look him in the eye.

"Nothing, I'm just glad I'm with you."

He would smile, kiss her, and hold her. But she knew he knew…something was wrong. He protected her, loved her, and promised her it would be over soon.

The night before as he slept beside her, she leaned over carefully studying his features before gently kissing his scruffy cheek. Resting her head on his chest, she stared up at the starlit sky…not knowing that Donny was a few feet away watching.

That's when she looked down and noticed something.

Down the hill Aldo was standing in front of the Germans kneeling in a row. The others all stood around, smiling holding their rifles. Donny leaned against one of the trees with his bat.

Just then Abby was on her feet.

One of the Germans took out a grenade from his side pocket. Right away the men froze, the German grinned before pulling the clip from it. Right away the men aimed their guns and Aldo for once looked a little spooked.

"Wicki, tell him to put that fucking clip back in right now!"

Before Wicki could respond Abby was hurrying down the hill, pushing past them she grabbed Aldo's gun and fired right at the German's head. The shot echoed and as the grenade began to fall Abby moved as fast as she could, skidding on her stomach, before grabbing the grenade right before it hit the ground. The other Germans fell back shocked as Abby rolled over the dead body and quickly sat up, leafs in her hair. Sitting there, she held up the grenade and began to breath heavy.

All of the men seemed stunned. Abby threw the grenade to Aldo who nearly dropped it. Standing up, Abby took a look around before brushing the leafs off her.

Turning, she grabbed the pistol that laid on the ground and picked it up. There she shot one after another after another before there was only one German left, laying on the ground shaking and surrounded by his dead friends.

Spitting, Abby turned before looking at all the shocked expressions on the men's faces.

Before they could say anything she walked up the hill. Aldo stared at the grenade half shocked.

"I'll be damned…"

Wicki took a step closer and stared at it, just as shocked.

Later that night, he found her sitting alone by one of the trees. Her eyes looked broken. Wicki cleared his throat before approaching her. He wanted to talk to her about this morning.

"Abby?"

She looked up, as a heavy breeze blew by them. Going over, he squatted in front of her, his head slightly cocking to the side.

Reaching over, he tried to touch her face.

"Don't…"

She said, moving back slightly. He frowned, seeing something was wrong. In fact for the past month something seemed to be bothering her, something he didn't know.

"What's wrong my love?"

Abby brought her knees in close to herself before quickly shaking her head.

"Nothing…"

Wicki shook his head.

"It doesn't seem like it. Aldo wanted me to talk to you about this morning…"

Abby rolled her eyes, suddenly very annoyed.

"What is he angry I didn't ask him if it was okay for me to kill those Germans? Was I supposed to ask the big bad men to take care of it while everyone blew up?!"

She shook her head getting worked up.

"It happened so fast, if he's angry I'm sorry okay?"

Wicki didn't understand the outburst, reaching over he tried to touch her arm but she withdrew, this time he was angry.

"What's the matter with you?! Something has been bothering you ever since you came to the camp! Look at me!"

This time he forced his hand to turn her head and look into his eyes. She looked on the verge of tears and completely heartbroken. A single tear rolled down her face before she snapped her eyes shut.

"Please leave me alone!"

Wicki studied her face before bringing her in close, wrapping his arms around her tightly he cradled her shaking body. Kissing the top of her head he sighed.

"Just tell me what's wrong? Please…"

Abby said nothing, instead she stayed in his arms, putting her head down on his chest and allowing herself to cry. Lately the nightmares had gotten worse…she just needed them to go away.

"I love you Abby…"

He whispered, kissing her head again. Abby sniffled before looking up at him.

"What did Aldo have to say?"

Wicki brushed her hair away from her face.

"He said he's real proud of what you did. If you hadn't of acted so fast we might all have been dead."

Abby shut her eyes, remembering the blood and suddenly felt sick.

"Stay with me tonight Wicki, please hold me…I'm so scared."

Wicki looked down at her, his eyes concerned.

"Scared of what love?"

"Bad dreams…will you stay?"

Wicki smiled warmly down at her before leaning back on the tree beside them. Opening his jacket a bit, he covered her and squeezed her shaking body.

"Just lay back my love, sleep okay?"

Abby nodded, laying back with him, feeling his warmth and resting her head on his chest. Listening to him breath, she slowly began drifting off.

"I love you Wicki…I'm sorry…"

She muttered before falling asleep. Wicki glanced down at her, not fully understanding what she meant but held her just the same.

A few minutes later Donny walked by and stopped dead in his tracks. He saw Wicki and Abby together, she was laying against him fast asleep.

Wicki motioned him over. At first Donny didn't want to. He felt his blood pressure raise but he decided not to make a scene. Tossing his bat onto the ground, he hurried over shoving his hands in his jacket pockets.

It was freezing tonight.

He walked over, lowering his voice.

"Yeah?"

Wicki stared up at him.

"Did she say anything to you?"

Donny glanced at Abby who was fast asleep, unsure of what to say.

"What?"

Wicki shrugged.

"Did she say anything? You saw what happened today? Something seems wrong."

It was now Donny's turn to shrug.

"No idea man. Besides, she hasn't been talking that much lately."

Wicki nodded, gently brushing her hair.

"This isn't a place for a woman…"

Donny stared down at Abby and nodded in agreement.

"I know…"

"But somehow I feel better having her here with us. At least then we know she's safe right?"

Donny nodded before Wicki stared up, studying her eyes.

"You love her don't you?"

Donny didn't take his eyes off Abby, instead he slowly nodded.

"Yeah…I do."

Wicki nodded, expecting that answer.

"I thought so…"

Donny shuffled.

"Doesn't really matter anyways. She loves you."

Wicki looked down at Abby before staring back at him.

"She does, but I think she loves you just as well. She's like glass Donny…I'm afraid she'll break."

"So what do you expect us to do?"

Wicki looked at him sighing.

"If we truly love her, then we'll do everything to protect her. Do you agree?"

Donny nodded.

"Yeah…and then?"

Wicki looked around the darkened forest before Donny slowly sat himself down beside him, being careful not to wake Abby. Wick rubbed Abby's side as she slept.

"I guess we'll just wait…see what happens."

Donny reached over and began rubbing her side as well. Wicki didn't say anything, instead both stared down at Abby as though she was the most precious being in the world.

"We got ourselves a problem huh?"

Donny slowly nodded.

"Yeah I guess so…"

"So what the hell are we going to do about it?"

Wicki looked at Abby.

"Just do like I said. Take care of her and her decide, I think she loves us both very much…"

Donny let out a dry laugh.

"Yeah right, she's crazy about you man."

Wicki looked at Donny.

"Yes, but for those few days you spent together, you touched her somehow. I can see it in her eyes…she trusts her."

Donny stared at his large hand, resting on her before feeling his heart feel replaced by a weight.

"Wicki, you're a good guy…for a German I trust you. But what if she can't decide…what then?"

"We'll see like I said. We'll just see…"

Donny nodded in agreement before Wicki looked at him.

"Let's make a promise right now. If anything happens to one of us, the other one will make sure she's taken out of here and safe, all right?"

Donny nodded.

"All right."

Wicki kissed Abby's head one last time before Donny shuffled over and leaned down, kissing her side. Sitting back up, slightly embarrassed he sat up straight and said nothing.

A few feet away, leaning against a tree was Utivich. He had heard everything and lowered his head before walking away.

The next morning as dawn touched the sky, Abby's eyes fluttered open and she found herself sleeping in-between both Wicki and Donny. Both men had thrown their jackets over here during the night and both of their arms were over her in a protecting manner. Looking at both of their handsome faces, she heard a bird cry off in the distance. Snuggling in closer to the two of them she then knew…

She loved both of them.
