After a little while of strolling around the mansion, Sonic and Lucina finally reached the clearing that they would start Lucina's training.

"Alright, Lucina, are you ready for your first training session?" Sonic asked intimidatingly. Lucina stopped, dropped her bags that she was going to leave with, and nodded while drawing her sword. "Ok, here we go, then. Your first training session is about learning to focus your mind in the middle of a battle. In your match, yesterday, you didn't show any focus because you were distracted by your thoughts. When battling, you have to clear you mind and focus on your opponent ahead. Leave your thoughts on the outside of the ring. This is the first of four steps in becoming a good fighter. By relaxing and focusing, you know where your opponent is coming from. So be ready." Sonic explained. Lucina just nodded. It seems pretty straightforward. Just focus on the opponent. Don't let your thoughts get in the way. She thought to herself as she stood ready for what Sonic would be doing.

"So, time to start the lesson. I'm going to be coming at you with my homing attack from different directions. You have to focus on where I'm coming from and block my attack. I want you to block 10 of my homing attacks in a row." Sonic said. Lucina's eyes widened. Ten attacks, well, that doesn't sound too tough. She thought. "Are you ready?" Sonic asked boldly. Lucina nodded, "I'm ready, come at me." She got into her stance. "Alright, here I come. Let the training begin." At that, Sonic prepared to do him homing attack.

Lucina stood ready and was focused. She watched Sonic closely as he stood poised to strike. "Oh, Lucina, you want to be a warrior right." Lucina looked at him with a questioned look. She was about to answer when Sonic came at her with a homing attack. She was unprepared as she got knocked to the ground. "Why'd you do that for? I was about to answer your question." Lucina yelled. "I know, that's what I was wanting to do." Sonic smiled, and then darted off into a hiding spot. Lucina got back up, with sword in hand. Where'd he go? Lucina questioned. "Lucina, I hope you're ready. You won't stop this one. I'll be coming from the right." Sonic proclaimed. At that, Lucina stood to her right and prepared for her attack. I got him…OW! Lucina was attacked from behind by Sonic's homing attack. She fell to the ground. Sonic just laughed knowing he just scored a great hit. Lucina, now furious, was picking herself up off the ground. She heard his laughing. She turned now furious at her teacher. "You think this is funny. This isn't a joke. I want to be stronger, and you are treating this like it's a game." Sonic shrugged. "It's a game to me, at least, because I'm 2 for 2." He dashed off into the woods again. Lucina, now angry, stood ready to attack. "You look furious, Lucina. You really think you can stop this attack. You couldn't even stop my first one. Do you really have the strength?" Lucina was bubbling with anger. I'm going to use that rodent for a pin cushion. Then, Sonic attacked at her again. She saw him and was ready to block, but Sonic changed direction at the last second. Hitting her in her leg. Lucina fell with her anger now at her breaking point. She had about enough of him. She got up and turned at the hedgehog.

"What is the point of this training when you keep insulting me? You ask me questions, say I'm not strong enough, and come from a different direction than what you say. What's the purpose of this training?" Lucina asked in a rage.

"Because Ganondorf won't be so direct with his attacks." Sonic said in a serious tone. Lucina stopped, her anger now gone. "Ganondorf is evil, Lucina, and he won't think for a second to get inside your head. The same way with any opponent. There are those fighters who like to insult people to get them upset, just like you are right now. If you let the insults get to you, then you lose focus, and when you lose focus, you lose your match. You can be as strong as anyone, but until you can learn to win the battle in the mind, then you will never the battle in the arena. You must be ready for those people that like to get inside your head. Once they do that, they will tear you apart. People lie, too. Just because they say they come from one way, doesn't mean that they will attack that way. That's why focus is needed. You block out the insults, block out the questions, and block out the lies. That's what this lesson is for." Sonic declared.

Lucina just stood silent. He's right. I let his insults, lies, and questions get inside myself. I need to block out those thoughts. She stood there and just nodded. "I understand now. I see the point of what you were saying. I need to focus on the battlefield, as much as off it. Alright, let's go." Sonic smiled, now knowing that she understood the purpose of her training. "Alright, here I go." He dashed off and prepared for another attack. Lucina stood poised to defend. "Lucina, did you really understand this lesson? I think you need to practice more." Lucina didn't flinch this time, she stood ready and focused. Then, she saw Sonic attacking. She turned right when he attacked and blocked his homing attack. " I did it." Sonic dashed off again. "Good job, Lucina. You're getting it." Lucina got ready and focused for the next attack, drowning out the insults Sonic was hurling at her.

In another part of the mansion, Little Mac was in the gym pummeling the sand bag. I need to be ready. I need to train harder. He kept up his onslaught. Need to keep attacking. I have to become stronger. Another few punches were swung at Sand bag. Ganondorf is going down. I will beat him, and I will beat Sonic. I will be the Smash Champion. Mac did a punch combo and then let a mighty punch loose, knocking the Sand-bag through the wall into the front lawn. Mac took a breather. "That was good…", Mac smiled, "but I can get better."

He came from behind the bushes, but she stood ready to block. He tried to change direction, but she blocked him again. Lucina had just stopped four of Sonic's homing attacks. "You look like you've gotten better already. Great job." Sonic smiled giving her a thumbs up. He dashed off into the bushes again. Lucina stood ready. She heard the things he was saying, but she just let them go. Don't let him get to you. Sonic attacked from atop a tree. Lucina saw him coming and blocked from above. That's five. I'm halfway there. Sonic couldn't help but smile as he landed. She's learning. Guess I better step my game up. "Time to step up the tempo. I'll come at you at a faster speed this time." Sonic declared. Lucina just stood ready, knowing she wasn't out of the wood just yet.

Zelda stepped outside into the training yard. She knew she had to harness her magic and fighting. Alright, here we go. She took a breath and teleported to another part of the yard. She then teleported again to the other side of the yard, all the while focusing on the exact location she wanted to be at. Now to mix things up. She teleported into the sky and launched her Din's Fire attack at the ground. She waited and then let it explode. I have to harness using my magic in succession. I have to keep my opponent guessing with my attacks. Both magical and physical. She then casted her Din's Fire, teleported, and started to attack the dummy. "You won't get the better of me this year, Ganondorf. I will beat you." She kept this training for the rest of the morning.

He came out from under the ground. She blocked it. Eight. Sonic dashed off again. I thought I would get her with that one. She's gotten better. Lucina was smiling. She knew she was getting the point of the lesson. Just two more. Sonic changed direction. He came out, bounced over her, and turned to come at her as he landed. She blocked it again. Nine. Lucina was ready. Sonic knew he had to get her with this one. This was his last chance to get her. He stepped out. "Alright, ready for a break." Lucina nodded, but stood ready. Be ready. "Okay." Then Sonic dashed at her again, but she blocked it. TEN! "Now I'm ready for a break." Sonic, who was blown back by that last defense, stood there shocked at what he saw. "You've caught on quickly. I'm impressed." She stood there just smiling. "Thank you. You are better than anyone lets on." Lucina complimented. Sonic just smiled, "I've heard that before." They walked over to a couple trees and sat down next to them.

Meanwhile, a shady character had been spying on the two fighters training. He watched with evil intent as they both sat down. I better inform the leader. That person dashed off quickly.

"So, Sonic, why did you want to train me?" Lucina questioned the blue blur.

"Well, you remind me of me. I came here full of energy, and I was ready to become the Smash Champion." Sonic said. Lucina nodded. "But, I was also uncertain about myself as well. I almost left too. I thought I wasn't strong enough." Lucina's eyes widened. "What happened?"

"I was at the portal area, when Master Hand appeared. He stopped and asked me why I was leaving. I told him I wasn't strong enough. That's when he told me that you shouldn't go because you think so, you should go when you have become stronger. People back home need to know that when you've returned that you've changed, and that's when I decided not to go. That's when I knew I needed to train harder and become stronger. And that's what I've done for the past two years. I'm not strong enough yet to help people. When I've become that strong, then I know I can go back home for good and be the hero that I can be."

Lucina just sat there speechless. He really is a hero. He doesn't train to be the champion. He trains to be a hero. He trains to protect others. That's the person I need to be. She couldn't help but smile. She had found the perfect person to look up, or down, to model her life after. "Alright, breaks over. We have work to do. Lucina snapped out of her thoughts, and nodded. "right."

The doors opened to a secret part of the Mansion. The shady figure from earlier ran down the stairs into a large open area with a large seat that looked like a throne. On that throne was Ganondorf.

"Sir Ganondorf, I have urgent news." The shady figure reported, now revealing to be Bowser Jr. "What is it?" Ganondorf said as he raised his head.

"That hedgehog and Lucina have been training. They seem to be getting stronger. I think that they can defeat you." Bowser Jr. reported concerned. Ganondorf could only laugh and smile. Bowser Jr. could only looked at him astonished. "Why do you laugh, o evil one?"

"Because they think they really can beat me. He thinks he stands a chance. Well, I have news for them. NO ONE STOPS THE GREAT AND POWERFUL GANONDORF. Let them train, I will be ready for them." Ganondorf said as he stood and started to walk away.

"But leader, this training does raise concern," said Bowser as he stepped out of the shadows, "For they're not the only ones who're wanting to stop you. Apparently, those two and two others have vowed to come against you this year." Ganondorf stopped at that comment. "Who?"

"It's the boxer, Little Mac, and the princess of Hyrule, Zelda." Ganondorf heard the report, but thought nothing of it. "Let them come. I will take them all down. I don't care about petty losers like them." As he walked away, Dark Pit appeared out of nowhere. "But we should care, my liege. If they are training, they could be a thorn in your side. We should do something to keep a watch on their actions. Send some spies to report on their training. If we find that they aren't that strong, then we won't worry." Ganondorf stopped, having enough of the complaints. "You want to send spies to watch our foes, then fine send spies. I don't really care, myself. Do as you wish." Ganondorf left at that. All three of them bowed and turned. "We need to send them in." said Dark Pit as he turned to Bowser. Bowser sighed, but knew he had to do what he had to do. "Alright. Son, call the others, call in the Koopalings." Bowser Jr. just smiled and nodded. At that, he left in a hurry. After that, Bowser and Dark Pit left.

At the end of the day, Lucina had mastered focusing on her opponent. Sonic could see the improvements. "Alright, time to get some rest. Tomorrow we will continue our training with a new lesson. Be ready. I'll see you then." Lucina nodded, "thank you, Sonic. I have learned a lot in this little amount of time. I'll be ready. See you tomorrow." She smiled, waved to him and left. Sonic just stood there and smiled. She has some great potential. I've never met a girl like her. She's someone to look out for. Sonic laughed and left at that point.

Down at the portal room, Bowser Jr. had sent word for the Koopalings to show. He waited in anticipation for their arrival. In a flash,7 figures came through the portal from Bowser's Castle. There they stood all 7 Koopalings. "Welcome, my siblings, to the Smash Mansion. I have some work for you to do." He smiled and laughed inside as he knew how his siblings handled business. Sonic and his friends won't know how to deal with us.

And that does it for this chapter. Make sure to review. Thanks.
