Violet symbolises the future, the imagination and/or dreams.

"He's perfect, isn't he, Dora?" Remus breathed, and Tonks felt months' worth of anger towards her husband evaporate as he took his place by her side and in their new little family.

She gazed down at the tiny human they had created and revelled in the newness of him. Yes, the name they had chosen – Ted, after her father – was more than a little nod towards the past, but Teddy Lupin was a blank slate. His future could be anything he wanted it to be. Scenes flashing before her eyes, Tonks imagined her boy growing up. His first steps… first broomstick… first wand… dressing him up in his Hogwarts robes for his first day at school…

Then she imagined a different future, this one filled with darkness. Hurrying him through public places, always glancing behind their shoulders… Lord Voldemort as the Headmaster of Hogwarts… Teddy spending his childhood in hiding, moving with their family from place to place…

Suddenly, Tonks felt more resolve than ever to fight. "We have to end this, Remus," she said, her voice strong. "For Teddy."

"For Teddy," Remus agreed, and the way he squeezed her hand told Tonks that he had been thinking the same thing. "We'll do everything we can."

Remus kissed her warmly. Tonks relaxed into it, closing her eyes, and the angelic face of their little boy – so different from the darkness he had been born into – was all she could see.
