It was all over. Or maybe it was the beginning of something new.

The rush of adrenaline and the beating of his heart made him smile. He could never have guessed that he would have fun playing basketball again. It was amazing, like something came back to him, something that he had lost long ago.

When was the last time he wanted to win so badly? He cannot remember now.

But he stood there and stared at the score board. The shouts and yelling rang in his head, but he was somewhere far, far from this crowd.

Someone said something to him, but he can't hear that.

Badump, badump...

His chest still hurts but in a nice way, just like how you work too hard for something that your muscles get so tired. His knees shook, but he stood straight.

It has ended, but he didn't want it to. He wanted it to last longer, much, much, much longer.

But it was over, all matches end... And so was their chance to win the Winter Cup.

But he doesn't care with the fact that they won't win it...

It was weird... This was nice, and at same time aggravating.

"I've... lost..."

Was that his voice? Did he say that?

It didn't even sound like him anymore. His voice was hoarse.

His eyes travelled to all faces from the opposite team filled with pure happiness and bliss. They were celebrating their victory.

He found the one with baby blue hair. Tetsu was staring at him, or maybe it was just his imagination. The boy tried to move, but he stumbled.

He wanted to help him, but there was already someone behind him in no time. Kagami.

Ah, he had someone to protect him.

He bit his dry lips. The tanned boy really wanted to turn around and walk away, far from the cause of his emotions, from this view, from everything, and just be alone for a moment.

"Aomine-kun..."

Daiki blinked in confusion at that sudden voice.

He lifted his face and oh, he was there with his one arm around the redhead's neck. Tetsu was trembling from the tiredness.

Badump, badump...

He doesn't know if it was his head that was thumping or his heart. Or maybe both.

He wanted to say many things, so many that he can't even count them. But the only thing that left his lips was, "It's your win... Tetsu..."

What can he say more?

He can't look directly into his eyes, his big blue eyes, so he avoided his gaze.

He saw as Tetsu lifted his clenched fist.

Daiki blinked at this. What does his old shadow wanted from him?

"Back then, we didn't bump our fists..." the boy said.

Aomine wanted to laugh and cry at the same time. Laugh from happiness and ridiculousness of this situation, and weep because Tetsu still remembered that.

And it still hurts.

"Why?! Does that even matter?!"

They were no longer partners.

"It does. Don't ignore me this time!"

And his voice cracked something inside him, like it asked for something; something new, something different.

He stared at his eyes and found what he can call hope.

Can they still make something out from their broken bond?

"Okay, but only this time..."

They bumped their fists.

"And don't make that face! It has only started. Let's play again someday!"

He turned to Kagami and nodded.

They did it, they did it. All still seem like a dream. Even after going to Kagami's place to hang out, it still felt like a dream (not to mention that everyone passed out from Riko's cooking).

He still can't believe it. He had always thought that this day would come, but when it did, he can't really tell if it was real or not.

He bid farewell to his friend and walked out of his house, leaving him alone with Alex –his coach from America.

Kuroko walked the empty streets. It was a cold morning, but the sunrays warmed his back a little.

He put his cold hands in pockets and walked in a slightly slouched position.

When he thought about this moment, he imagined a variation of scenarios. That he would laugh, cry, jump from ecstasy, or fall to the floor. But when it actually happened he was stunned, not able to register what was happening around him.

But he was back, he was finally back.

The feeling inside his chest when they played was still there. The happiness was still with him.

He pinched his cheek and it hurts. So this was real.

He felt very light, like someone took the heavy weight off his shoulders. He wanted to run, feel these emotions rush in his veins but his aching knees were preventing him from doing that.

Tetsuya walked inside his house, opening it with the keys he took from his black sports bag.

His house was quiet and static. The only thing that moved were dusts slowly dancing on the wooden floor. Somewhere was opened window.

In this silence, his footsteps sounded louder. His breath was so audible to anyone who would walk in. He could even hear the rustling of his clothes as he moved his arm around.

Slowly he stopped in front of a half opened door. He peeked inside and after he saw nothing, he slowly moved the door to the left.

He found his father asleep on the desk -to be accurate on his laptop, with his hands under his head. He was snoring softly.

Tetsuya looked around. He found a gray blanket that was thrown in the corner of room. He took it and put it on his father back. The man murmured something in his sleep and smiled. It was just a little, but nevertheless he smiled.

"I'm sorry..." Kuroko whispered

It just slipped through his lips.

But it was true.

He turned around and almost fell down. Pain had stricken his left knee. He bended his leg and held on the door frame, trying not to fall down.

He must have done something in his match.

He pushed the thought away, deciding that he can think about it later.

Kuroko walked slowly, almost dragging his leg to his room. He started to unpack his dirty and sweaty uniform from his bag. He needed to wash it. There was a bottle of water, his wallet, an extra blouse and at the bottom of his bag, his phone.

The boy hold device in his palm. He stared at the dark screen.

He felt an urge to write to him, but it would be weird. He just beat him yesterday.

How was Aomine feeling right now? He never lost to anyone, until he faced his team again...

Anyway, Kuroko can't think about such things now. They were in the Winter Cup and their next match will be with Yosen. And it means he will fight against Murasakibara.

With his current technique, there's a chance that he won't lose. But he needs to learn something, something useful.

He remembered what he talked about with Hyuuga in their practice- that he should learn how to shoot.

Well the fact that he can't make a proper shot was pretty lame. He was never able to do that, even when he was little. Yet he learned how to play basketball without this ability. But now it could be useful.

There were no friendly matches, it was a real fight. And he really wants to win.

Kuroko needs someone who can teach him how to shoot.

Of course he could ask Kagami, but he had his own training now with Alex. And to tell the truth, he wants to surprise his friends with this new move, and well if he would train with Kagami...

Another in line was Kise. If he would ask him he knew that the blond guy will agree at once. But the question is will Kise-kun be a good teacher. If he would do something wrong (and he knows he won't learn so fast) Kise wouldn't correct him. He was too kind...

Maybe Midorima-kun could help. But with his 'tsundere-ness' it will be hard to make him agree, though he knows that sooner or later, he'll help him. But Midorima was a perfectionist and a three-point shooter. Not to mention, he's probably busy with his studies. He had said something about wanting to be a doctor during Teikou...

So the last choice was... Aomine. Well, they were friends in middle school and they know what the other was thinking. But it was long time ago, and also, said boy was excitable and hot tempered. But he was a master of shooting from every direction and with using weird techniques.

So maybe he was the best choice?

He didn't sleep all night. He can't. Memories from yesterday's match still echoed in his head, like it was just few minutes ago. He recalled all the plays, all the shots, in his mind and thought what he could've possibly done to change the result. Maybe he should've blocked some other guy, maybe he should've knocked the ball out from the redhead guy's hands, or maybe he should've scored and not ran to the line.

So many options, he felt like a dumbass. Why didn't he think about that during the match? And now he lost.

But, it wasn't so bad. Well, it was hard to convince his self with that. But it wasn't... He even felt... good, like he was freed from something.

Yet there's one thing that was still there, and it maybe even stronger than before.

Aomine unconsciously touched his chest.

The tanned boy sighed.

And then came in the other problem. He had free days and totally has no idea what to do with his time.

They lost their chance in the Winter Cup. They'll have no coming matches anymore. And he wanted to train...

Aomine blinked and opened his mouth.

It's good that there was no one else in his room. He didn't want to be seen like that.

But he really wants to go out, take a ball with him and practice.

And this feeling was weird. How long has it been when he last felt like that?

In his first year of Middle school? Maybe a little bit in the second year? It was so so long ago.

Now, he feels his fingers wanting to grip a ball, his legs wanting to move, his knees trembling to make a move.

He heard as his phone vibrated on his desk.

Maybe Satsuki is asking him how he was feeling after LOSING a match. If she is... he's gonna...

Well he doesn't know what he would do to his best friend but it sure is gonna be bad.

He draws his hand and caught the mobile between his pointing and middle finger.

There was a small envelope jumping on his screen. He opened the message, and fell from his bed, hitting his forehead in the process.

Daiki yelped and sat with his back against the bed. He massaged his aching forehead and elbow.

He took the phone and read the message properly this time.

To: Aomine Daiki

From: Tetsu

Can we meet me at the street court where we used to play at 6 p.m.? I have a favor to ask.

He stared at the message, and he can't believe it. They just saw each other yesterday, and now he was given an opportunity to see him again. It was like a miracle.

He tried to type fast, but he made so many mistakes, and the sentences weren't even readable.

'Calm down, it was just a mail, nothing more.' Just a mail.

He took three deep breaths, and only after calming himself down he answered with simple "Sure. Be there..."

What does Tetsu want from him? Play basketball, go to Majiba, talk?

He felt as his cheeks are getting redder.

'Of course not, idiot!' He just probably needs to talk, but not about that. He doesn't even know what he felt about him and it was impossible that he was thinking about him in any romantic way!

Stupid, stupid, stupid! He felt so stupid thinking like that.

First they need to get their friendship back, something that he really dreams about.

He didn't need to be his lover. He just wants to meet him normally, even like friends. It will be enough...

It was dark. The sun hid from the sky few minutes ago, making place for the half-moon. He walked with his basketball under his arm.

Slowly. He was moving very slowly. But his nerves tingled. He just wanted to run and be there instantly.

People around him chatted happily, moving their hands in the air as if to emphasize what they were saying. He even saw some couples in this cold evening, but he walked past them swiftly.

It was calm. The cold breeze crept inside his jacket and made him shiver. He forgot to bring a scarf, and he regrets it now.

He could see the metal fence from his direction and something in his stomach twisted at the flow of memories. He remembered as he used to play here with Aomine. But that was when Aomine loved playing. When he still smiled...

Can he get this back?

He saw dark shadows coming from the other way and the corner of his lips twitched.

But he was first on the court. He still has few minutes.

Kuroko dribbled the ball in his right hand, then in the left. He took posture to shoot and threw the ball. But it didn't go in.

He then heard someone approach him so he turned and said simply:

"Hello..."

He stared at tanned boy in front of him still wearing the same unamused face. He had small wrinkles on his nose.

"Why did you call me here suddenly?" Asked Aomine in not so happy tone, the one he always uses.

The bluenet didn't know why but he felt an urge to smile, though his face remained emotionless.

"I'll go straight to the point..." He took one deep breath, "Please teach me how to shoot..."

Oh, how he wanted to take a photo of Aomine's surprised face. He had his mouth opened and eyes wide.

Kuroko clenched his fingers on ball he took up from ground in this time.

"Did you just ask me to teach you how to shoot a day after you defeated me...? What is wrong with you?"

Kuroko turned his head to stare anywhere but at his old light.

Well, this was true. What was he even thinking when he sent a message to him? Of course, Aomine would feel awful about what happened yesterday... It was a miracle that he showed up now...

Aomine was the best teacher he could get.

He heard him take a few steps. Aomine sat on the ground with his back against the brick wall.

"I haven't slept since..."

His whisper stimulated in his ears. Slowly he lifted his face.

The boy had his half lidded dark blue eyes staring off at a distance.

"I got home and took a shower... But when I went to bed I couldn't sleep... When I had closed my eyes I recalled all the moments in match. That I could've done another move, or maybe shoot earlier..." He was moving finger over himself, like he was checking if his skin was dry "I can still feel the sensation in my chest. The sensation brought up by memories I had long ago... My heart ached, it almost felt like it's gonna blow up within a minute. My muscles shivered under pressure of putting too much effort, and my tired eyes closed but I can't get any sleep... It was the worst night ever..."

Tetsuya bit his lip and turned his head. The street lights blinked in front of his eyes, almost blinding him with their brightness, but he paid no attention to it.

"But..."

He slowly moved his eyes to look at boy.

"I'll give my all just to play basketball again..."

He stared at his face, and he couldn't take his eyes off him.

His eyelids were closed, his smooth eyebrows were lowered, his dark fringe covered his forehead, and his lips were turned up a little, almost unnoticeable to the naked eye.

Peaceful. Serene. Calm.

It almost looked like the old him, when they still knew each other the best.

"Aomine-kun..."

His name slipped past his lips.

The boy slowly opened his eyes and stood up at the same time. He brushed his legs to get rid of some dirt.

"Now that I've talked so much about my feelings I feel like playing again..."

Kuroko blinked.

Did Aomine say what he thought he just said? Was it true?

"For what other reasons, do you think I would come here?"

His lips moved but only a simple word came out:

"What?"

The tanned boy took off his jacket and threw it on the dirty ground. He then tucked up his sleeves in the beige sweater he wore on.

"I'm saying that I'm going to teach you!"

Kuroko couldn't remember now when was the last time he was this happy.

So Tetsu wanted to learn how to shoot. That wasn't what Aomine thought that Kuroko would say. But he didn't mind.

If he can meet up with him to train together again, he will do it, even if it's every day. It will be best if it would be everyday indeed...

Aomine shook his head and sighed when he saw that Tetsu didn't shoot this time.

He stared at his posture. He watched as slim white hand straightened, muscles tensed, leg bended down to jump, and vision focused on the hoop.

But the ball still missed.

"Okay Tetsu, look at me..." He said.

The Touou player walked to the ball, picked it up and made a perfect, text-booked posture for shooting.

After a moment….Swoosh! And the ball was inside the hoop.

"It's not very helpful. All of your shots look easy Aomine-kun..."

"Because shooting is EASY... Maybe this ball just doesn't like you..."

The tanned boy picked up the ball and passed it to his friend.

He can call him now that? Well they met and talked normally so... They could be called friends again, right?

"You're mean, Aomine-kun..."

Tetsu caught the ball, hiding his face behind it. The only thing that was visible was his furrowed eyebrows and eyes- that looked mad and not at the same time.

He looks cute...

Damn you Aomine, stop thinking about that kind of thing right now.

He gathered a very big amount of self-control, trying to not blush right in front of him. He clenched his fingers on his trousers.

"Okay, try again..."

The bluenet said nothing, only turned, made an almost perfect copy of Aomine's posture earlier and took a shot.

But the ball still didn't make it inside.

Daiki stared as ball rolled on the cold concrete ground towards him.

What was wrong with Tetsu? He has a good posture... he even made a hood move with his wrist. But the ball still can't make it.

Maybe he should look at it from another point of view. Tetsu wasn't the typical basketball player. He was unique in his own way. So maybe he can't shoot like normal players.

In that way, it makes sense. But when he thinks about it normally, it totally makes NO sense.

But let's think uncommonly.

Aomine scratched the back of his head and yawned. The lack of sleep was getting to him finally. Not to mention it was cold here.

"Let's end here today, Aomine-kun..."

He nodded and walked to the wall. He picked up his jacket and threw it at his body.

"I'll walk you home..." He murmured.

Tetsu only nodded, but there was a smile on his lips.

Nah It must be his imagination...

But even so, this made him feel light inside.

When he walked back to his home, he wanted to jump in happiness.

Daiki felt relieved and he couldn't stop grinning. Of course there were many things that still needed to be done, but he and Tetsu were both heading to a good way.

And he could meet with Tetsu almost every day, what would he want more from life?

Not knowing that he was humming under his nose he put the keys in the proper locks. He walked inside the dark house.

The only light came from the kitchen.

Slowly and quietly, he tiptoed to his room, but the doors from kitchen flung open and he saw the face of his step-father.

The lips of the man lifted when he saw him.

"Ah Daiki-kun... good thing you're back, can you come here?"

Well, he has nothing better to do and he was in a good mood, so he jumped down and walked after him into the room.

On the table he could see all kind of dishes - salads, meat, cakes and pastas. Not to mention all members of his family was present, his twin little sisters and his mum.

The woman held a wine glass in her hand and smiled at him warmly. She had a tanned skin just like him, with very short spiky ebony hair and orbs of the same color. Long silver earrings hanged from her small ears, almost touching her shoulders.

But today wasn't anyone's birthday. So what's with the feast?

"I know that you must be wondering what this is about..."

The man walked past him and turned his head, to see his confused face.

"But we all saw your match... Even if you didn't win, we are proud of you... And I think we should celebrate because this was the first match in a while where you smiled..."

Aomine stared at Masahiro.

For first time he didn't know what to say. He always avoided this man, and yet...

"T-thank you..." He mumbled and almost bit his tongue.

"Anyway, let's wish you more matches like that. It was something you just need to see!"

Maybe for the first time Aomine saw this man as a member of their family, because he really wanted to do something for him.

Yay! Next chapteeer! Wee/(^o^)/.

Now few thoughts about this fic from me... because I feel like writing about it =D. I really enjoy writing this fic, because, well I really like to write about emotions and make ambiguous sentences. Not everything in this fic is said straight-forward. Many things need to be draw intuitively. However this would look weird, this fanfic is painted in light blue and orange colors, very pale, but also warm in the same time. Happy times, intertwined with sad moments, small things that could lift mood by one hundred percent. Yes, many important words, movements, facades. If something like this would exist, I would call it a fragmentary fanfic.

Ah don't mind me! Just me thinking about weird stuff.

Great thanks to:

Crystalbutterfly04 -that you're still with me. Love ya :3!

And to you Reader, for just being here with me!

Next- two chapters in one! Don't miss it.

Like some kind of commercial, but don't mind xD. Anyway R&R!
