This chapter was originally Chapter 5, but because I added another chapter before this one. So that makes that previous one now five and this one six (if that makes any sense)so those of you who are new or have read the first/ beginning of the story know that this was 5 in the past. I had to do revised

Chapter 6: The Shadows

Capricorn walked with us to the car; however, everything from that point on was a strange blur. I could not put my finger on it. Though, that is not important, what was…was when the car stopped, we were near the alley.

I was getting nervous.

I knew very well that this was dangerous, however I felt like I have to do something.

"Are you ready?" Lucy asked as she broke my train of thought.

I could only nod.

Lucy and I made our way to one of the doors.

"Capricorn," Lucy began.

"Yes?"

"Can you please wait in the car?" Lucy asked

Capricorn was a little surprised by this but gave a hesitant nod as we got out of the car.

Lucy led the way into a dark alley.

"Why is it always dark alleys?" I asked out loud, scrunching my nose a bit in some disgust.

"Don't ask me," Lucy said, "I wasn't the one who wanted to come in the first place."

"You're right," I began, "If we were murders we would know the answer to that question,"

"Levy!" Lucy shrieked

"What? I asked

"I would never hurt anyone!" Lucy retorted.

"Well, what if we were a team though," I began as I teased my friend.

Lucy gave me a strange look, "No,"

I blinked a few times, "what about your speech about friendship?"

"That is null and void," Lucy hissed as she made her way to the dark alley

I sighed and I speed up my pace to catch up with my blond friend.

We continued walking deeper and deeper in the dark alley until Lucy stopped.

"This is the general area where the person died," Lucy said as she gestured to a very dark corner.

I frowned a little, "How do you know?"

"There was a picture of the site in the newspaper," Lucy answered.

"Do you mind if you can show it to me later?" I asked

"Of course," Lucy said through the darkness.

I allowed my eyes to adjust a little; however, my eyes could only go so far.

I gave an audible sigh.

"Your eyes adjusted?" Lucy asked.

"Yes, but not they didn't adjust like the way I wanted them too," I said with a hint of disappointment in my voice.

"Hmm," Lucy hummed to herself.

I gave another sigh, "Even though the lightening, it only gives temporary lighting," I said as I was thinking out loud.

"Nature," Lucy sighed.

"Indeed,"

We were silent for a moment until Lucy sighed again.

I turned to see why Lucy was sighing, but the concern for my friend was replaced when my blond friend took a torch out of her jacket.

I blinked a few times, a little confused as to why my blonde friend had a torch.

"I knew we might go investigate sometime, however, I didn't know when…so," Lucy said as she smiled, "I came prepared," Lucy said giving a small smile.

"Lu," I chirped, "I could kiss you!"

Lucy gave me a questionable look.

"I said 'could'," I began, "and besides, I'm not Natsu,"

"Le-Levy!" Lucy blushed.

I smiled evilly.

Lucy folded her arms and pouted.

I giggled a little bit until I could control myself.

"Now," I began, "the torch please,"

The blond handed me the torch.

I fumbled with it for a few seconds until I found the switch to turn it on.

I moved my finger to turn on the light; the light filled the dark area with light, however it was a bit dim. But light is light and any little light will do.

I moved the torch in the direction of the corner.

At first I didn't really noticed anything until I took a few steps closer to the wall.

There were light blood stains on the brick wall and cobble stones.

"That's gross," I said as I scrunched my nose at the awful sight.

"What?" Lucy asked standing next to me.

"Blood," I stated.

"Ew," Lucy shuttered.

I moved the torch a bit and I saw something on the floor near the blood stains. It was a crumbled up piece of paper.

"Is that a piece of paper?" I asked slightly tilting my head.

"It looks like it," Lucy said behind me.

She slowly walked in front of the flickering light.

Lucy bent down, picked up the paper, and flattened it out as best as she could.

The blond looked at one side of the paper for a moment and then frowned.

The facial expression threw me off, "What's wrong Lu?" I asked as I walked next to Lucy.

"Well, there is no writing on it," Lucy began, "but there is something on it,"

I frowned slightly, "What do you mean?"

I was confused by that statement, not really sure what she meant by that.

"There are indentations on the paper," Lucy frowned.

"What do you mean?" I asked as I stood beside Lucy.

I moved the torch so both Lucy and I could see the paper clearly.

Just like what Lucy had just said, there was nothing written on the paper, but there were bumps or a type of indentation on it.

My frown deepened, I did not understand.

'Why was there a piece of paper here?' I thought.

I looked around the area and saw that there wasn't any type of paper, trash, or litter in the alley.

My gut was telling me I had to keep it as evidence but a thought occurred to me.

I gestured Lucy to hand me to the paper, she did so without asking.

I felt the indentations between my fingertips.

My frown deepened a little.

"Why didn't the police see this?" I asked breaking my glaze from the piece of paper.

"You're right," Lucy frowned, "why didn't they?"

We stared at the paper for a moment.

"What if it came after the police left?" I suggested.

"What do you mean?" Lucy asked

I hummed in thought.

"A note?" I thought out loud

"A note?" Lucy asked as she tilted her head a little.

"Maybe a hit note?" I asked as I examined the paper a little more

"Like," Lucy began as terror arose in her voice, "who to kill next?"

"Maybe," I shrugged.

"Levy," Lucy snapped, "this is serious!"

"I know," I frowned.

"We could be tampering with things that we shouldn't be tampering with!" Lucy shrieked as she was moving her hand and arms wildly.

"Calm down," I said in a soothing voice.

"I will not until we leave," Lucy hissed.

I sighed, "Then wait in the car with Capricorn,"

"Fine, I will,"

I shook my head a little as Lucy's heels clicked toward the entrance of the alley. Then I turned my attention back to the paper that was given to me.

I was trying to figure out if there was anything important about the paper.

As Lucy's footsteps slowly walked away from me, I noticed that they suddenly stopped. I thought it was a little strange, but I didn't say anything. Being that Lucy was a little upset with me mere seconds' earlier. Then, she, even slower walked back to me until she was right next to me.

I didn't say anything for a moment. But something was wrong.

I didn't move my head, but I moved my eyes to see Lucy.

Lucy was as white as a sheet, her mouth was slightly ajar, and she was shaking violently. It was as if she saw a ghost.

"Lu," I whispered suddenly concerned.

"L-L-Look," Lucy whispered, slowly raising her hand to point to what was in front of her.

I frowned and turned my head to look at Lucy.

Tears were starting and slowly began to spill out of her eyes.

'Something is wrong,' I thought.

Then unexpectedly, the hair on the back of my neck stood on end.

My knees began to shake a little, and I could feel the heart bounding out of my chest.

'this isn't good,' I thought, 'I'm getting scared,'

Slowly, I moved my head in the direction Lucy was facing.

At the entrance of the alley was a tall man, a large flash of lightening hit behind the tall man. It I had to describe him, he was literally a mountain that towered above the ground. Unfortunately, I could not see any specific features other than his bright crimson eyes that stared at us.

Fear took over my body and I let go of the torch, letting it fall on the floor with a soft 'thud'.

"L-Lucy," I managed to say as I slowly neared my best friend.

Lucy did the same as we stared at the man.

The red eyes narrowed as he stared at us. Then the man began to slowly walk towards us.

"W-we need to get out of here," Lucy whimpered.

"But how?!"

"C-Capricorn knows s-self-defense," Lucy whispered.

"But he's not here!"

Lucy shook in fear.

We were busy talking that we did not realize that the man was only a few feet away from us.

"Oi!" the man yelled as he got our attention.

We turned our attention back to the tall man.

Lucy and I hugged each other, worried that this was the end.

"What are you two doin' here," the man growled as he lowered his head about a foot so that he was eye level with us.

We could not respond we could only whimper and shake in total fear.

"Answer me," the man growled as he leaned forward towards us.

Lucy and I instinctively moved backwards, trying to get away or at least gain some distance from the strange and scary man.

"Answer the fucking question," the man hissed.

"N-nothing," Lucy pipped up.

The man turned his attention to Lucy.

"That's a lie," the large man countered.

Lucy and I looked at each other then back at the large man and we began to cry.

"We're sorry!" we said at the same time.

"It was her fault," Lucy pointed to me.

"L-Lu," I protested.

"I don't care who's fault it was!" the man snapped, "I want to fucking know why you are fucking here!"

"I wanted to look at the murder site," I whimpered.

"That's a stupid idea," The man said

We fell silent for a moment.

"S-So, you're not going to hurt us," Lucy asked.

The man had a strange look in his eyes.

"If you don't leave now, I just might," the large man said as if he were smiling.

Tears rolled down our faces as it ruined our makeup.

"Leave," the man hissed.

We nodded as we sprinted around the tall man and out of the alley.

"Capricorn, start the car now!" Lucy ordered as we made our way to the car.

Caprisorn hesitated for a second, but did what he was told and started the car.

Lucy and I opened the back car door and clambered in the car.

Once the door was shut, the car jerked forward.

"Levy," Lucy said, "we almost died!"

Tears went down my face and nodded, "I know and I'm sorry,"

Lucy let out a deep breath.

We were both high on stress and adrenaline.

I looked down at one of my hands, it was a fist. Slowly, I opened it up and saw the piece of paper that Lucy and I found earlier. However, we accidently left the torch back in the alley, though we could honestly care less about it. The important thig was that both Lucy and are alive.

However, I could not shake off a strange feeling about that man and I couldn't place it.

My fist that held the piece of paper turned into a fist again.

'Something is coming,' I thought as I rode down the brick road back to my gaff.

Review and Comments:

Lexie and the anime, can we make that an actually day because I would enjoy a 3 day weekend...besides who wouldn't want a 3 day weekend...and I'm just as excited as you are when it comes to the future chapters *jumps up and down in excitement*

Shade Michels, you are welcome :3 I believe that Levy has a more modern day thinking than to what women in 1910 England.

EmmyHippo, now, now, we all want Edward to be dead...as do I...but a lot of things have to happen before any more violence arises. But I'm really happy that you are enjoying the story as much as I am :D
