Meeting the Rain
Ch6: An Enemy's Warning

Kuwabara yawned as they walked through the doors to be greeted by loud music, "Man, am I tired." He sat at the bar and ordered a beer as the others took seats around him. They looked around to see tables set along the walls and away from the dance floor, a huge crowd rocking out on the said dance floor.

"You wouldn't think it be this hard to find a bitch with fucking yellow eyes." Yusuke ran a hand through his black gelled hair. His blue jeans fitted him perfectly, he had no need for a belt, and his white t-shirt was covered by a teal jacket. Kurama, Hiei, and Kuwabara were dressed in their usual attire. Kurama merely sighed as he sat down, Hiei was silent.

"Trust me Honey; it's not as hard as you think it is." A silky voice said as a pair of arms draped around Yusuke's shoulders, Yusuke froze instantly when he realized who it was, "Come dance with me?" She asked. Yusuke swallowed. Kurama growled, Hiei looked at her, Kuwabara was surprised, "At ease boys, I just want to dance with him is all." She turned him around on the spinning top stool, "Come on Honey, I don't bite…that much." She smiled at him.

Yusuke looked at her; he fought off the blush he felt rising onto his cheeks, "One dance…" He said. Setsuna grinned at him; she headed for the dance floor knowing he'd follow her.

"Urameshi have you lost it?" Kuwabara grabbed Yusuke's arm.

"This could be a trap, Yusuke." Kurama stated, his red hair falling off his shoulder when he looked at the detective.

"You're just asking to die, detective." Hiei said in his chair, his fists shoved his pockets, his eyes closed.

"I'll dance with her to see what she wants and if she tries anything I'll let you know." Yusuke walked to the waiting onna when Kuwabara let go of his arm. Setsuna smiled at him as he came up to her, they walked down the steps and onto the dance floor.

"What do you want?" Yusuke glared at her when they started to dance.

"I wanted to warn you four." Setsuna answered.

"Warn us, of what?" Yusuke's eyebrow arched with curiosity.

"I would've told you in the Demon World, but you wouldn't listen to me considering the way we met."

"Warn us of what?" Yusuke got a little impatient. Setsuna giggled at his quick temper, she turned around, her hair fanning out behind her as she did. She danced into his arms then wrapped her arms around his neck loosely. Yusuke looked at her surprised.

"Someone is after you and your friends and it's not me. You're in great danger, Honey." Setsuna whispered into his ear, Yusuke's eyes went wide. "I might be a bad girl, but not as much as Koenma tells you." Setsuna pulled away, but not before slipping something into his hand. It was a tiny folded slip of paper. Setsuna began to walk away.

"What's this for?" Yusuke asked looking at her confused.

Setsuna turned and looked at him, "Call me."

"Why would I do that?" Yusuke looked into her eyes trying to read them.

"Because whether you want to believe what your gut's telling you or not you can sense that I'm not your enemy." Setsuna disappeared. Yusuke looked around, trying to sense her energy, he couldn't. She was gone, for now.

"Damn." Yusuke growled then he looked at the paper in his hand; he put it in his pocket. He walked back to the others.

"So…what did she want?" Kuwabara was facing the dance floor, his elbows propped up on the bar behind him.

"She said she wanted to warn us that someone is out to kill us and it's not her." Yusuke said. His fists were in his pockets. Hiei and Kurama looked at each other than at Yusuke.

"She was warning us?" Kuwabara asked.

Yusuke nodded, "Either she's setting us up or she's being legit."

"Why would she help us?" Kurama questioned Hiei. Hiei shrugged.

Yusuke sat on the couch, the lamp on the side table the only source of light in the room at the moment. He stared at the phone at a loss about what he should do. He knew what the guys would say if they found out, "Oh fuck it all." Yusuke picked up the cordless phone that sat underneath the lamp, he pressed a button, listened for the tone, and then he started dialing.

"Hello?" Her voice reached his ear from the other line and made him shiver slightly, "Hello?" She repeated.

"Hey…it's me…" Yusuke said finally, Kuwabara would skin him alive for this and Kurama and Hiei would put him six feet under, if not deeper.

"Oh hey Honey." Her voice seemed to brighten. She used the little pet name of hers for him.

"Hey listen, I was wondering…if…you wanted to meet me somewhere, maybe we could grab something to eat…or something…" Yusuke kind of pushed aside the fact that she ate humans, "I wanted to ask you a few things…" Was he being shy about this? Yusuke cursed himself inwardly.

"Sure, I'd like that." She replied.

"Okay just go to that club from last night, I'll pick you up there." Yusuke grinned, he had no idea why he grinned, but he just made a date with her and he felt triumphant.

"Sure. Oh, and make sure you were that cologne that you wore last night, I like it." She said.

Yusuke smirked, Keiko had never liked that cologne; she always said it smelt terrible. It was Yusuke's favorite, "You got it."

"See you there."

To Be Continued…

Snow Kurama requested that I continue this one. I like this one too so I will.
