A/N: well…I was bored again, so I decided to do the usual, here's another chapter, hope you all enjoy.

Legacy of the Alicorn's: chapter 6: nightmares

After joining the others at the dining hall, Rising Star told them all about the incident of what he remembered, as per her usual inquisitive self, Twilight took it upon herself to ask as many questions as she could about what it was like in his time, and he was more than happy to oblige her.

After they all finished dinner, they went up to their rooms, and tried to get a good night's sleep, despite all the interesting events that had occurred earlier in the day.

Rising Star lie in the large bed, trying to find a comfortable position, despite the pleasant events of meeting new friends, the dream he had earlier in the day, ever since then, he tried to avoid sleeping, but he knew, he needed to get some sleep sooner or later, finally he turned on to his side, and slowly closed his eyes.

(Rising Star's dream)

Rising Star burst from the bushes that had previously concealed him, "mother!" he cried out but stopped when all the other ponies turned to him, Bloodmane turned to him with a smile, "ah, so nice you could join us, Rising Star, am I right?" he asked, fear overwhelmed him, as he turned to see his mother's dead body, simply thrown to the ground, he turned to look at his father, "no son! Go! Run!" his father shouted, but fear seemed to cement him to the spot.

Bloodmane raised his hoof, "not so fast, he should stay here" he said as he looked back at him and nodded at his followers, they nodded back and pushed his father forward, Bloodmane walked over to him, and put the knife against his neck, and turned to Rising Star, and smiled as he swiped the blade across.

Rising Star watched in fear as his father's eyes widened and blood poured from the wound, tears flowed from his eyes as his father fell to the ground gagging on his own blood, Bloodmane smiled and wiped the blood on his cloak, before he took a step forward, "normally I would kill you right here, but I'm feeling a little generous tonight, so I'll give you a head start, now go" he said, Rising Star looked at him in sheer terror.

He didn't need to be told twice, he quickly ran off into the forest, as he ran tears blurred his vision, as he ran through the forest, he saw a small cave and ran inside, he quickly dodged to the side and ran inside and hid behind a large rock, he tried to calm his breathing and wiped the tears from his eyes, as he turned and looked over the rock, everything seemed quiet and he slowly began to calm down.

Just as he did, the sounds of shouting came up and all the other ponies came into the clearing, "where is he? I just saw him" one of the ponies said, he watched as Bloodmane stepped toward the cave, "oh, he's here" he said as he took a step towards the cave, Rising Star felt his heart beat increasing again, he watched as Bloodmane smiled and then turned to his follower, "keep the search going, he's around here somewhere" he said as they all ran off.

Rising Star sighed heavily, as he stood up and walked to the cave entrance, and looked around, they were nowhere in sight, just as he was about walk away, he heard a whooshing sound, and quickly turned around only to be grabbed by the throat and lifted into the air, the air left his lungs and he couldn't breathe, he looked down and saw none other than Bloodmane smiling at him, "you really need to work on your hiding skills, but it's too late for that now" he said as he reached under his cloak and pulled out a knife.

(Reality)

Rising Star shot up in the bed, cold sweat running down his face, his heart beating painfully against his chest, he looked at the bedside clock, and it read three in the morning, he sighed and pushed himself out of the bed, and walked over to the bathroom, he flipped the light on and walked over to the sink, turning it on, he splashed some water in his face, and wiped it with a towel, he looked at the bed and sighed, he quickly walked over and grabbed his cloak and walked out of the room.

(Twilight's room)

Twilight lie in the bed just staring at the ceiling, she had been awake for an hour now, while she had gotten a few hours of sleep, she turned to her side and looked at the clock, and saw that it was five in the morning, there was the faintest hint of light on the horizon, deciding to finally get up, she pushed herself out of bed and put on her crown and walked out into the hall, where she saw a guard walking down the hall.

"Excuse me, guard?" she asked, he turned to her and saluted, "Princess Twilight, it's rather early for you to be up" he said, she smiled and walked up to him, "yes I know, is Rising Star in his room?" she asked, he shook his head, "I'm afraid not, he's gone to the castle's library, about two hours ago, why he was up that early I'm not sure, do you need me to escort you there?" he asked, Twilight shook her head, "that's not necessary, thank you though" she said and turned and walked down the hall.

(Canterlot castle, library)

Rising Star sat in a corner of the library, books stacked all around him, he was picking a new book, he pulled one out of the shelf and placed it on the ground and lied down on his stomach, and used his magic to open the book, he lie there reading the book, since he couldn't sleep through the night, he thought it would be best to familiarize himself with the modern equipment as well as learn what he had missed.

As he continued reading, he failed to notice or hear the main door open up, and a shadow move towards him, as he continued to read the book, he heard a voice speak up, "Rising Star, is that you?" came a soft female voice, he quickly stood up, and turned to his side to see Princess Twilight walk up to him, he turned to face her, his heart racing, "oh yes, good morning your highness, I didn't see you th-" he said but was cut off as he tripped over one of the stacks of books and fell against the shelf, scattering the books everywhere, he grunted as he slammed backwards.

Twilight couldn't help but giggle and smile at his clumsiness, "oww, damn" he said as he rubbed his head, she smiled and stepped over the books, and offered him her hoof, "here give me your hoof, you okay?" she asked, he looked up at her and smiled as he took her hoof she helped him up and he dusted off his coat, "thank you, yes I'm okay, head hurts a little, as I was saying, I didn't expect you to be here your highness" he said, she raised a hoof and smiled, "please, you can just call me Twilight, I'm still not entirely used to my new title, even though it's been a few months now, what were you doing in here?" she asked as they looked into each other's eyes, he looked at the pile of books.

"well, I couldn't sleep through the night, so I decided to come here and brush up on some of the things I have missed, and it looks like I have a long way ahead of me, what about yourself?" he asked, she smiled, "guess I couldn't sleep either, the guard said you came here, you know if you need help learning stuff, I can help you, I was planning on returning home today, maybe the Princess's will let you come to PonyVille with my friends and I" she said with a smile, he smiled back at her, "I think that would be nice" he said, Twilight smiled and blushed slightly, but then she turned to see the sun beginning to rise on the horizon, "oh, Princess Celestia's about to raise the sun, let's go follow me, I know the perfect place to get the best view" she said pulling on his hoof, he smiled and followed her.

(Canterlot castle, gardens)

After they left the library, Twilight lead him to a special spot she would always go to when she was up early enough to see the Princess raise the sun, she came to a nice tall tree, and sat leaning against the trunk, she patted the spot next to her, and he quickly sat down, they looked up to see the Princess come out of her room and on to the balcony, they watched with excitement as her horn glowed and they turned to the horizon, as they did, the sun began to peak over the distant mountains, and up into the air, and began the day, Twilight leaned back and sighed happily.

"it's beautiful isn't it, sometimes I would wake up early just to watch her do this, it just helps me relax" she said in a dreamy tone, Rising Star smiled at the wonderful site, he also leaned back against the tree, "indeed it is…beautiful" he said the last part, looking at her, he smiled as they both stood up, "come on, let's go get the others, breakfast should be ready soon" she said as they returned to the castle.

Both of them unaware of the Princess watching them, walk back into the castle, she smiled and chuckled to herself, before walking back into her room, to begin the day.
