The room around her was blurry. And the people in it was moving in slow-motion. The voices were hollow and distant. A voice was closer all of a sudden. And it repeated itself. When a warm, strong hand touched her shoulder, her body jerked in surprise. She turned her head and the blurry shape slowly cleared. She could make out that it was a man. A doctor. She immediately snapped out of her shocked state.

"Is she okay?" she asked. She didn't recognize the sound of her own voice when I left her mouth.

"I'm sorry Dr. Isles. We did everything we could." the doctor said. " the lack of oxygen to her brain was too great. I'm sorry for you loss."

The words he spoke ruined her insides. It felt like The Hulk had ripped her heart from her chest in one swift motion. Despite this, she still managed to question as her brilliant mind wouldn't believe.
"Jane is dead?"

"Yes." the doctor said, looking at her with great sympathy.

"No...n..No...NOO!" flew out of her mouth. Tears ran down her face with rapid speed. She fell to her knees and cried harder than she had ever thought possible. She couldn't breath. All of the air had been knocked out of her. She felt like she was dying. It was like she was falling into a black hole. A hole she would never be able to get out of. "JAANE!" she cried.

"Maura" she heard in the distance.

"Ja..Jane." she cried angrily.

"Maura, wake up"

Her eyes snapped open and it took her a while to realize where she was. She was in Jane's bedroom. In Jane's arms. Her face was wet, and she was still crying.

"It's okay sweetie. I'm right here. Shh" Jane soothed.

"Jane is dead...nooo...please. No." she cried.

"Shh...no baby, I'm not. I'm right here. You were having a bad dream"

"I was?"

"Yeah. Aww it's okay. Just relax. I'm not going anywhere." Jane said as she softly rocked her in her arms.

"Don't ever leave me." She sobbed with her face buried in Jane's chest.

Jane wasn't sure if Maura was still sleeping or not. But she held her tighter as she said:
"I won't. I won't."

She gave her small kisses on the top of her head as a comfort. Her heart was broken into a million pieces. It was her fault. Her fault that Maura had, had this horrible nightmare about her dying. Her fault because she had scared her to this extent. And it broke her heart. She wanted to take all of her pain from her.

She could feel Maura's body relax and her sobs coming to an end.

"I'm sorry" she whispered into Jane's skin.

"Don't. It's my fault."

The room was completely silent for a while. Maura pulled herself impossibly closer to Jane. If she could've crawled under her skin, just to be closer to her, she would've. She needed to be close to Jane. She wanted to feel her. To feel that she was alive. That Jane being dead was in fact a dream. To feel safe. Her face was planted on Jane's tank top covered breasts. She softly kissed the top of one breast and heard Jane hum in approval. She kissed further up her collarbone and finally reached her lips. She put a great amount of force into the kiss, which took Jane by surprise. When she felt Maura's hand gently slide up under her tank top, she asked against her lips;
"Maura what are you doing?"

"I need to feel you, Jane" Maura said and kissed her.

She rolled herself on top of Jane who opened her legs so Maura would fit in-between. Every time Maura let her tongue glide in and meet Jane's, Jane lost whatever control she had. Her hands moved the way from Maura's shoulders and down to her ass, grabbing it gently, pulling her closer. Maura inhaled sharply at the touch and without thinking, sunk her teeth into Jane's bottom lip.

Jane certainly hadn't expected the morning to take a turn like this, but she wanted to comfort Maura. And she thought Maura was extremely hot and it drove her mad that she was on top of her right now, kissing her. She had never done this before. Was she even doing it right? Maura stopped the kiss, looked into her eyes, stroked her cheek with the back of her hand and smiled. Such an intimate moment. It made Jane warm all over. But then Maura started to kiss her neck. Oh god! Who cares if I'm doing it right! This is amazing! Jane thought. She tried hard to keep her composure, but when Maura's lips found her soft spot, just below her ear, a moan tumbled off her tongue, followed by a deep grown. Maura couldn't help but whimper at the sound. It made her feel alive. Alive with Jane.

She sneaked her hand back up under Jane's tank top, but slowly, not sure if Jane would let her. But Jane did let her. She closed her eyes and slightly arched her back into the touch.

"Someone is feeling better huh?" Jane smirked.

"Much" Maura breathed as her hand reached the bottom of her right breast. Soon, she cupped it and squeezed it gently. It was warm, firm and yet soft. A perfect handful. That, in combination with a moan from Jane, made her body needing more. Jane wanted to explore Maura's body. She wanted to feel every inch of her skin.

But right now her mission was to feel those full breasts, that she had admired for so long. Maybe Jane had suppressed her attraction for Maura in the past, but she was still a breathing human being. And they were always right there. Almost hypnotizing you. Regardless of your gender or sexuality. And now she wanted to feel them. She slowly slid her hands up Maura's shirt, feeling goosebumps on the warm, soft flesh. Okay, second base, here we go, she thought and chuckled internally. When her hands gently squeezed the breasts, they both moaned in unison. Maura held herself up on her elbows, to give Jane better access. She studied Jane's face while Jane watched her hands move under the fabric.

As she was kneading the flesh, she felt nipples harden, under her touch and it sent bolts of electricity straight down to her core. Maura slid a hand between them and lightly grazed Jane's center with her fingertips. Jane's eyes fell shut while she bit her lip in anticipation. A loud knock on the door filled the apartment, snapping both right back to the room.

"Shh, don't say anything. They might leave." Jane whispered.

"What if it's important?" Maura whispered back.

"Nothing is more important, than this right here." Jane said, motioning her hand between the two of them. She pulled Maura back down and kissed her. A second knock on the door. And a third. Jane groaned loudly and growled;

"Are you kidding me?!"

She carefully pushed Maura off of her and walked to the living room. Whoever was there, was now banging loudly and fast.

"Ugh what?!" she spat when she opened the door. "Tommy? Are you okay?" she said when she saw her brother standing outside her door with TJ on his arm.

"Yeah, yeah, yeah, I uhm... can you watch TJ for me? I have this job interview in 20 minutes and Lydia is visiting some family out of town. Frankie is working and so is Janie" he said desperately. "Oh hey Maura." he greeted as Maura appeared.

Jane closed her eyes and sighed heavily. In frustration she ran her index finger and thumb over her eyebrows. She wanted to spend the day with Maura. In bed. But when she opened her eyes and looked at her nephew, her facial features softened. How could she say no to that little adorable munchkin?

"Come to auntie Jane" she said and took TJ from his father's hold.

"Thanks Janie! You're the best!" He said and practically threw all of the toddler's stuff he'd been carrying, into the apartment, before leaving.

"Yeah, yeah, you owe me." She yelled after him and kissed TJ's cheek.

"I'm sorry Maura" Jane said turning towards Maura.

"Why are you sorry? I don't mind helping you, watch this little handsome guy" she smiled, playfully tickling TJ.

TJ squealed in joy wiggling his legs, trying to get down.

"Okay little fella, go play with Jo." Jane giggled.

When TJ had run into the hall, chasing Jo Friday, Maura turned to Jane.

"I love how you are around him. You look so happy." she said before placing a lingering kiss on Jane's lips.

Jane blushed slightly and looked down. "Well he makes me happy." she said. "So do you Maura" she looked up, catching Maura's eyes.

Maura's eyes filled with tears. Tears of happiness.

"Don't you dare start crying on me again. Enough already. I want all smiles today"

Maura chuckled lightly before returning her lips to Jane's. The kiss kept going for a while. Both had seemingly forgot about time and place. They snapped back to the room, when the energy filled toddler expressed his mind with an " Ewwww" followed by a scrunched nose.

"What are you saying 'eeew' about? Come here you little rat!" Jane said chasing a squealing TJ around the apartment. When she caught him she picked him up and kissed him all over. They both laughed uncontrollably and the sight warmed Maura's heart. God how she loved Jane. This was the first time she had admitted it to herself. The thought didn't scare her. She had never been so sure of anything her entire life.
