MADDY
She and Loki had ridden for hours now, going well past Forge's Post and South to the city. Maddy couldn't help but look at Loki, absorbing every essence of him, the way his messy aurburn hair bounced, the way his emerald eyes glittered when the sun hit them, his pale face splattered with almost invisible light brown freckles.
Loki turned to her, "something wrong Mads?"
She snapped out of her daze, "Huh? No not at all... I just, I got a bit lost in thought."
"Okay. I think we should stop for a few hours."
"Great." Maddy nodded. Gods, what am I doing?! Maddy thought to herself, not daring to look at Loki. They headed out around ten metres off of the main road where a cluster of trees made adequate shelter for the night. Maddy swore as she realised that she'd forgotten a blanket.
"Language Maddy. What's wrong?" Loki looked up as he set fire to a pile of twigs he'd collected with the rune Kaen.
She slumped against the trunk of a tree, "Forgot my blanket."
"Here have mine." Loki offered.
"You sure?"
"Yep." He was already up, draping the blanket over her shoulders. He sat back down opposite the flame between the two of them, shaking hands stretched over the heat.
"Loki, my sister's in World's End, what d'you think she's doing?"
Loki shrugged, "It's been what? Five months? From my experience, I think she's getting fat and knitting an endless supply of baby clothes."
"Sigyn?" Maddy half asked half stated.
"Yeah. Anyway I hope you don't get any ideas about finding her, 'cos I have a feeling she wouldn't like me, y'know being Chaos born and all." Loki smiled kindly, a rare sight to be seen, "You should get some sleep, we'll get back on the road after dark."
Maddy nodded, and rested her head on her bag, falling into a troubled sleep.
As Maddy slept, she saw a girl with dark aurburn hair- almost a chesnut colour- and olive skin dance through a meadow, happy and oblivious of a shadow that settled everywhere she set foot. That shadow was death.
