CHAPTER 7
"You saw her where?" Rogue yawned, leaned against a torn up couch as the returning gang members stood in front of their leader with concerned as well as heavily interested eyes.
Sting stood up with his fist balled as he could see neither Natsu nor anyone else was taking this seriously, "She got out of her little limo," He made his two fingers move as if symbolizing a walking human, "In the middle of the fucking Underworld and the Jose Pora actually shook the bitch's hand!"
The pink-haired male let out a yawn, twirling his black King piece around his fingers. "And?" He flicked the fragment onto the board, making the white queen fall onto the floor. "Is there an interesting part to this story?"
The members grunted at his attitude, causing Erza to step forward, "You can't act like this is nothing but damn noise to you!" The crimson haired beauty shook her head, "Do you realize how dangerous she is? I don't give a shit if you get hard just by the sight of her dainty blonde ass. You're putting the gang at risk."
"Who the fuck knows what she's thinking!" Loke added, "You saw what happened the other day. Didn't you? Do you know the chances of finding that photo that not even I knew existed? 1% Natsu! A 1% chance and that fucking crazy chick pulled it off. That 17 year old fucking chick!" He pulled at his hair, wildly frustrated, "She is so far out of your gaming level. Don't put us at risk for your stupid fucking hobbies."
The base went silent at the vicious tongue that Loke was smacking at Natsu. Gajeel and Cana exchanged looks with lifted eyebrows, both whispering "Oh shit," with small chuckles.
The gang leader stared down to the ginger, eyes void of any sort of kind emotion. "Do you understand who I am?" His tone was low, causing the air to grow thick with intimidation. "It seems you've forgotten the reason we've received our infamous reputation." He made a gun with his fingers, pointing it at Loke's head. "Right now she's a predator, walking through unknown territory." He tilted his head with a dark frown, "We haven't made any moves yet. But once we do," He pretended to shoot, "Boom." He whispered, "She'll realize just how big the war she's created is."
"And…" Cana yawned, "How do you suppose we'll take down a girl you of all people can't even beat in chess?"
Natsu leaned his cheek on his hand with a twisted smirk and a gaze glossed over with dangerous intent. "I underestimated her." He snickered, "But now she's revealing all of her moves," His sharp teeth were revealed in a devilishly intrigued grin, "We'll finally be able to make ours."
Dark grins started forming over their mouths as they exchanged equally amused glances. Gray snickered, leaning back in his chair, his hands resting behind his raven head. "What exactly is she to you?" He tilted his head with lidded eyes and a perverse grin, "A lover or an enemy?"
"Is it wrong for her to be both?" Natsu's eyes seemed to gleam over with this wicked sense of lust. "Who wants to play a game where the prize is just handed to you?" His eyes looked down to the queen piece, which seemed to roll next to his feet. "Just like he said, the point is to take down your enemy and gain their power." He picked it up and stared at it, "So I beat her at this game," He wrapped his hand around it, "And steal her along the way. That's the only way you'll ever be able to capture the Queen. Knock down her piece before the game even ends."
Deep chuckles filled the air at Natsu's dark eyes, ones that only saw victory. The gaze they hadn't seen a while.
This girl was in trouble.
Creak.
Immediately, all eyes went to the source of the noise and widened their eyes seeing a certain blonde devil walking casually through the entry beads. The gang's faces went white seeing Lucy's innocent brown eyes, all knowing exactly where she was before this. Except Natsu who seemed to just grin, his eyes sparkling deviously at her radiating beauty, at her power, at everything he was going make his.
"Hello." She smiled, as though they couldn't see straight through this kind act of hers. "Oh please don't stop talking on my behalf."
"What do you want?" Erza hissed between her teeth.
The blonde tilted her head, her gaze washing over with a dark glare before returning to its bright gleam. "My, isn't it alright if a fellow gang member drops by casually?"
"Not with you it ain't." Gajeel folded his arms, "What do you want?"
Lucy stared at them and their strict glares, letting out a simple sigh as her hands were removed from her back, revealing several envelopes in her grasp. "My family is hosting a formal party this weekend. I would be quite honored if you all attended."
"How long do you plan to keep up this proper, nice girl act?" Cana spoke as Lucy started handing them out, "How do we know this isn't another lie?"
The blonde handed the brunette one and smile brightly, "I suppose you won't." She moved on and handed one to Natsu, his hand grazing hers before pulling it to himself. "Well, the Dragneel Family had already been invited but, I would like to have some friends there to put out a good and social image for myself. Friend to both the rich and the poor."
Their eyes glinted with anger at her last statement and her grin narrowed into a dark one as she snickered. "Though I would understand if the Leos are unable to attend." She tilted her head at Loke who sneered at her cocky grin.
"We'll be there." Natsu spoke, reading through the letter, "Is that all you needed?"
Lucy smiled, "I also wanted to heed a warning." She stared at Natsu, "I would make sure you keep your dogs on a leash so they don't end up in unwanted places." Her eyes went towards the six who were still covered in blood from earlier. "They almost shot you, y'know. I was kind enough to warn them you weren't threats." She sighed, "But really, if you are going to snoop, don't stand in the middle of the sidewalk."
She knew.
They were silent as well as intimidatingly stunned.
Loke's eyes locked onto hers and as quickly as he narrowed his gaze hers snapped onto his like a deadly predator. "Don't worry. You won't be able to use this against me, so I'm hardly threatened by this little incident."
"You seem to underestimate us." Erza spoke, "As easily as you can backstab us, we can do the same."
Lucy snickered darkly, "With what proof?" She slipped out a playing card from her pocket and pressed it against her twisted lips.
"Jose Pora. Don't think we don't know who owns that club." Sting entered the debate. "You think you have everyone wrapped around your finger, but as soon as that man is offered a large sum, he'll confess."
"Oh that I am very aware of." She let out a sad breath, "That's why I'm afraid to say Jose is no longer with us." The blonde's eyes narrowed onto them with a widening grin, "Oh no… there goes the confession."
They blinked at her words, "Jose… he's dead?" Sting spoke, "You killed a Mafia Boss?"
"Oh no, no." She shook her head, "I would never get my hands messy with murder." She chuckled, "Anyway, I hope you will take this warning as a notice. It would be a shame if you got caught up in things you shouldn't." She turned swiftly, "I truly would hate to be betrayed by my friends."
"Oh? And what happens to your betrayers?" Loke folded his arms, provoked by her words.
Lucy tossed her card towards them and lifted the beads, "Don't know." She hummed, walking towards the exit, "They just seem to disappear."
They all surrounded the card and widened their eyes seeing as it was a Queen of Hearts, splattered in blood. Cana lifted a brow at it and laughed, "Oh man, and here I thought the bitch was all talk!" She snickered, making the others look at her in bewilderment, "This makes things a lot more interesting!"
Natsu rolled the white queen around his grinning lips, "Indeed… it does."
. . .
The large doors to the Dragneel mansion were opened by a butler, allowing the pink-haired heir to enter. All passing servants bowed to the young, handsome man, "Welcome back young master." They all said in unison before returning to their original tasks.
Natsu seemed to ignore the formal greetings and merely moved forward. Loud footsteps could be heard coming from the top of the enormous stair case. A small purple haired body popped his head out and narrowed his sights onto Natsu. "Onii-san!" He shouted gleefully, flying down the steps.
The pinkette looked up but before he could react, Romeo was already latched onto his leg. Natsu's cold expression seemed to brighten a bit at the sight of his younger sibling. "Hey buddy." He bent down and ruffled the small boy's hair. "How was school?"
Romeo's eyes seemed to gleam, as though he was waiting to answer this question all day. "There's a new girl in my class! And I talked to her." He smiled proudly, "I think she likes me."
"Oh?" Natsu snickered, "And do you like her back?"
Instantly, Romeo's face became enflamed in a red color and looked away. "Girls are gross. B-But…" He scratched his cheek bashfully, "She's… kinda cool."
Natsu started at the flustered boy, his eyes growing dim at the little boy's expression.
Innocence.
Innocent love.
He wondered what it was like to experience such pure emotions. To feel happiness just by holding hands. To easily say "I love you." Boy likes girl, girl likes boy, it seemed so nice and simple.
Instantly, Natsu covered his mouth and started snickering. Romeo's flushed expression disappeared as he was taken back by the sudden laughter. The younger brother tilted his head in confusion, "Natsu-nii?"
Natsu shook his head, still vibrating with chuckles. "Sorry." He stood up with a soft grin, staring at Romeo.
"What?" Romeo's round eyes blinked up at him.
The pink haired boy lifted up a brow and sighed, "Well," He closed his eyes and stuffed his hands into his pockets with a grin, "That sort of love just doesn't suit me."
"What love?" Romeo pulled at his pants, "Does onii-san have a…" The purple haired child spoke in a low whisper, "girlfriend."
Natsu's eyes seem to gloss over with some sort of undistinguishable form of lust. It was one of enticement as well as bloodthirst. "Not quite that." He started walking up the stairs.
The delinquent found himself carrying his footsteps to his father's study. A butler opened the door for him and Natsu focused his sights onto his crimson-haired father. His fingers slipped the envelope Lucy previously handed him onto the wooden desk.
Igneel noticed and turned his attention up to Natsu who seemed to be holding this rather unusual gaze of amusement. The now intrigued father looked down to the encased letter, opening it up to see an invitation to the upcoming Heartfilia Ball. "We received ours this morning." Igneel spoke, examining it, "The Heartfilia daughter must've wanted to give yours directly. They must want to initiate good relations with us."
"I'm going." Natsu said instantly.
The crimson-haired male lifted a brow, "It's not like you to attend business events. Or quite frankly, anything that has to do with the company." Igneel snickered, "Have you taken a liking to the Heartfilia child? If rumors prove correct, she currently the most sought after bachelorette." Igneel tilted his head with a grin, "Beautiful beyond comprehension. An angel in the skin of a human. A goddess with golden hair." He snickered, "Quite the reputation this child of the perfect Heartfilias has."
"Well the rumors aren't wrong." Natsu chuckled, "She's certainly stunning." He let out a sigh, "But you know I never refuse invitations from women."
Igneel nodded slowly, "Then I will inform them of our attendance."
Natsu turned around, walking out until his father's voice paused him, "It wouldn't be a bad idea to seduce the Heartfilia girl." Igneel's eyes were slightly dark with an intrigued grin molded onto his lips. "If we got our hands on the Heartfilia Company," His finger slowly made a circle on his wooden desk, "We could potentially hold all the power in the world."
Natsu seemed to snicker, "That's not as easy as it sounds father."
"Oh?" Igneel lifted a brow, tapping his desk, "And why is that?"
"She's dangerous." Natsu started slipping out of the door, "For the first time, she's the one seducing me."
Click.
Igneel stared at the door as Natsu shut it. The crimson haired male let out a sigh and let his gaze wander back to his previous documents. "The Heartfilia girl…" He lifted his brows, "I'd have beautiful grandchildren for sure."
. . .
"STOP LOOKING AT ME WITH THOSE SMART ASS FUCKING EYES!" Jude shouted, throwing his empty glass at Lucy who dodged it easily. He picked up his half empty bottle of rum and twirled it around the air, his composure eaten away by his drunk state. "I see you…" He let out a long, breathy laugh, "You think, you think you're better than me! You and your mother both!"
Lucy remained in kneeled, very stable and calm despite the chaos around her. "Father, you must drink some water."
"SHUT THE FUCK UP!" He screamed, tossing his papers off of his desk. "What is this I hear that you went out a just killed Jose? I told you to handle it, not go out and slaughter my allies you stupid bitch!"
The blonde winced as he slammed his lamp into the glass doors behind him, cracking it. "Sir, he betrayed us. I was the one who had given him his power and he took it for granted-"
"You?" He leaned forward with a groggy hiss, "Everything you do is according to my command. Do you think you have any form of consciousness? Everything you do is because of me. Every action is mine. You! You are mine!"
Lucy was silent, letting the drunken man seethe through his anger before she could speak. "I've given the Underworld's control to Rin." She spoke slowly, "Jose was just barely keeping up with debts but Rin has been remarkably successful in all the trade routes. If I had let Jose remain in power, he could've continued to feed troublesome stories to these rumors. And event then, Rin would've succeeded Mr. Pora's current standing and become the top dog. It would be better if we made Rin think his success is thanks to us and keep him tied on our leash instead of Jose."
The blonde looked up at her father and the man instantly grimaced, "If you look at me one more time with those stupid damn eyes I carve them out of their sockets." His voice was low, "You and that mother of yours, you both think you can just make decisions. Tell me Lucy, do you think you're in charge here? Do you? DO YOU?"
"No, sir." Lucy shut her eyes and bowed her head, "You are the CEO of the Heartfilia Company. You hold the most amount of control and are the king of us all. I am merely a piece in your large game."
"Good." Jude's eyes glistened over lustfully at the sentence. "I am the king. And you, you're my new Queen." The low raspy tone of his voice seemed to unsettle the blonde beauty. "And you won't disappoint me like your mother did. You will not be the same as that stupid and useless whore!" He tilted his head, "Understand?" Lucy was silent. "UNDERSTAND?"
The blonde nodded slowly, "I understand."
"NO YOU DON'T! THAT'S EXACTLY WHAT THAT BITCH SAID BUT LOOK AT HER NOW!" Jude sat into his seat and began laughing, "Look at that old hag now! Tell me Lucy, do you want to end up like your mom?"
"No sir." Lucy spoke simply.
"No! No you don't! Exactly!" He hummed, "Because you're mine. You're all mine now. You're the new Layla, the good Layla. In blood and in mastery, you are mine."
Lucy nodded slowly, clenching her jaw at the uncomfortable sound of his musky voice. Jude stared at her and seemed to lick his lips. Mine. He thought. All that beauty and that youth. The thing Layla never had. Just a stupid old woman capable of jack shit. This new Queen, this usable Queen, is mine.
"You were born to serve me, don't forget that. You're alive because of me." Jude growled possessively.
"You are a King and I am merely the piece of which you move according your own desire." Lucy said as though she had rehearsed that line throughout her whole life.
"So then, you know what I want now." Jude's eyes seemed to slowly gaze over her lovely body. "Serve me accordingly."
Lucy seemed to tense up and shook her head, "Father, I have many things I must attend to or-"
"Serve. Me. Now." Jude looked down to his rum and took another swig before wiping his mouth and staring at his young daughter. "Do I need to spell it out for you?"
Lucy flinched and was hesitant standing up, "No Father."
"Good then." He grinned in a disgusting and wicked way as his blonde offspring fully came to a stand. "Strip. And come here."
Lucy sighed, "You're drunk, now is not the time to tend to those desires. You require sleep and water-"
"I. Said. Strip. And come the fuck over here." He glared deeply into the young girl's eyes. "Or are you defying me?"
The golden haired girl who held all of the beauty in the whole in her small body stared at him before turning her eyes cold. Her fingers slipped off her school jacket, then her blouse, then her skirt. And then her underwear slowly fell onto the ground until she was standing bare before her father.
His perverted grin seemed to be pulled toward each cheek with a heavily hungry desire fogging up his brown gaze.
He had the power to make her do whatever he wanted.
Whenever he wanted.
Unlike that Layla, he could torture, beat, yell, and fuck Lucy but she wouldn't protest a single bit.
Ah yes, this control.
This perfect Layla.
Lucy walked toward her father and felt her demons start to scratch at her skin. A darkness surrounded her eyes. Until her body was numb and her eyes were blind.
Twisted. She thought. This world is twisted.
We think it's nice on the surface, we fall for this mask of innocence and fail to realize that the darkest of demons hide beyond the mirage of Heaven's Gates.
Humanity's sight is truly horrible.
How can they say this family is perfect?
If someone truly possessed capable eyes, they would see this.
They would see a man who has replaced his lover with their child.
A child who has replaced her innocence with the Devil's power.
And a chamber of secrets that hold the darkest of memories that nobody dares to unlock.
But alas that is not what the people see. They only see what we allow them. We give them a blindfold and tell them what the world around them is like and they don't question it. They believe they live in a sanctuary. They don't even realize they are wearing a blindfold in the first place.
Oblivious.
People are so damn oblivious.
And if someone were to take the blindfold off, what would happen?
If all the lies were discovered.
What would my purpose be?
Wouldn't I just disappear?
Wouldn't this power go away?
I need this. This twisted world. These blindfolds. These oblivious people and this Hell that surrounds me.
Without it… I would have no purpose.
Maybe… I'm the twisted one.
Wendy and Evergreene walked down the long corridor. "Yeah and the kid I met today was really nice." The small bluenette smiled at the maid, "I want to tell nee-chan all about it!"
"I'm sure Miss Lucy would love that." The servant smiled gracefully.
SLAM!
Both of their eyes went up then shot wide at the source of this sound. Lucy seemed to open the doors to Jude's office, her body just barely covered by a blanket she was holding up. She seemed to be panting, her whole body seemingly shaking and weak, pressed up against the door.
"Miss Lucy!" Evergreene lunged out and supported the blonde's side.
Wendy seemed to be still in shock, only seeing Lucy like this a few times in the past. It was always when their dad was drunk or angry, he would summon Lucy and she would come out exhausted. She wondered what happened. Did dad just make her exercise or something?
The blonde instantly slapped the green-haired woman away, "Do not touch me." She hissed, shutting the door before she walked down the corridor, holding onto the wall for support.
"You require assistance, ma'am." Evergreen spoke softly, "Please, allow me to help you."
Wendy tilted her head, "When I'm feeling sick I go to Mom. You should go visit her, she probably misses you-"
"No! I don't want to see her!" Lucy screamed, stopping instantly. "I'm not sick. I'm fine. Go away."
The blue haired girl ground her teeth, trying not to become overwhelmed again. "You're acting like daddy, y'know! You're so mean to me now!"
"You don't know what mean looks like." Lucy spoke in a deep tone, continuing down the hallway. "Evergreen, Wendy isn't allowed in this hallway starting today. Understand?"
Wendy growled at her sister, "This is my house too!"
"No it's not." Lucy breathed heavily, beginning to turn the corner, "I'll be damned if I ever let you belong to this cursed family." She seemed to chuckle darkly, "I'd say that but, I already am damned."
The blonde's slow movements took her awhile until she finally reached the large doors to her bedroom. She kicked them open, seeing the only light in her room was from the moon, illuminating the chess board set up against the window. Lucy shut her door and walked forward, removing the blanket so the cold air could bite at her skin.
Her eyes held a deeper darkness than had been witnessed before; it was void of all good intent. Just one that belonged to the Devil of pure chaos, scraped out of the river of tortured souls and forced into her skull. As she walked forward, slowly, sensually, she pointed this poisonous glare at the chess board.
The moonlight pressed up against her naked skin as she stood bare before the window. Her fingers slowly traced the outside of the chess board and she harshly gripped onto the white and black King. She squeezed onto it, her knuckles turning white from the force, "Let's see," She spoke in a low tone, pull of pure hate, "Which King am I going to get rid of first?"
She let the white piece fall to the ground and she glared at it as she rolled into a stop. Slowly, her foot stepped onto it until it was cutting into her skin. She picked up the white queen piece, "I'm not a Queen." She hissed before slamming it into the ground, causing it to break it two. "And you, yes, you're both Kings." She whispered in the tone of a demon, squishing the white piece harder into the ground as her fingers scratched at the black. "But you're both still only pieces."
Lucy slowly let her foot off of the white piece, seeing she accidently broke it. Her eyes slowly went up to the board and she placed her hands on the board. "I am the Master of this board." She spoke deeply, "I am the player." She arm swung out and caused al of the pieces to scatter violently around the room, "And I am the one that controls you."
A/N: Okay. It's been awhile.
At first, I was just going to skip to the dance but then I was like "Nah, let's show just a small taste of how truly corrupted Lucy's world is." I thought it was a good idea to put in that right after we saw how civil Natsu and his family is. Natsu isn't supposed to be the "dark" character despite how he is portrayed as a bad boy. It was a comparison on what bad and truly evil is.
And the reason for that incesty situation will be explained. Soon. Wasn't just put in there cause I'm fucked up. And the whole reason why Lucy won't fight back despite how obviously superior she is was sort of explained in that little monologue but I feel like it'll be hard to catch onto so it'll be brought up later.
