Chapter Seven.
Elinor and Endings.
Elinor sat in the shabby carriage with a group of other girls, some flicking wands, some just sitting. She didn't understand why she had suddenly been shipped off like this… and what about her friends? The last time she had seen them was on her birthday four days ago, and then there was an attack. The wizarding newspaper 'The Daily Prophet.' Had said it was labelled as 'Not Suspicious.' But everybody knew that the Prophet was only there to assure people. The Quibbler, on the other hand (which had arrived that morning on the train) said it was 'Suspicious Death Eater Attack.' Elinor sat in the train, The Second Wizarding War, in her lap. Why on earth would anybody want to attack her friends.
"Who're you?" A silvery haired girl asked, kindly. She had the faintest trace of a French accent and was wearing blue uniform. Elinor looked at her, quite confused. She turned the book she held around and saw her picture on the back.
"Elinor Jones… and you're… you're Dominique Weasley!" Elinor said.
"Yes," Dominique said, quite confused until she saw the book "You have read zee book?"
"Yes," Elinor felt her confidence building up a little "I'm Elinor, First Year. Hogwarts."
"I'm Dominique but everybody calls me Dom, I am in zee fourth year, Beauxbatons. My sister has finished Hogwarts and my brother is in first year. But I went to Beauxbatons because my cousin was there too."
"Dominique Weasley?" another girl, who Elinor had seen in the corridors at Hogwarts, her blonde hair with pink and blue streaks was easily distinguishable. She wore her Gryffindor tie neat, but not neat enough, draped around her neck in a simple knot. "That's cool. I know Fred. One of your cousins."
"Ah, yes. Fred eez very annoying at times. Who're you?"
"Daphne Ray Hugo, Hogwarts. Fifth year."
"I'm Denise Clearwater." A girl with black hair said, "Durmstrang, second year."
"Are you the only Durmstrang?" Elinor asked, she knew about Durmstrang, there weren't many girls there.
"I am the only Durmstrang here, there are thirteen girls in Durmstrang…"
"How come you don't have the accent?" The only girl who hadn't yet spoken asked. She had straight honey hair and small square glasses, rather like Lucy's.
"I was in Durmstrang because I was. I'm English. Okay."
"You're related to Penelope Clearwater, the Healer, right?"
"Yes, she is my Aunt."
"She's my healer!"
"I don't really see how that's relevant…" Denise said to the honey haired girl. "Who're you anyway?"
"Nicolette Cunningham. Third year Hogwarts. Nice to meet you." She smiled.
"Right, so we have Elinor, Nicolette and I from Hogwarts. Denise from Durmstrang and Dom from Beauxbatons." Daphne said, she grinned but then looked down, rather angrily. "I don't want to go to this dumb school. Hogwarts is much better. I have unlimited pranks in Hogsmeade because of Fred and there's the whole prospect of Hogsmeade."
"Eet eez awful. I will miss my cousin terribly."
"There's no Gryffindor in Salem!" Nicolette protested "No Lions! No red and gold!"
"My friends can help us escape." Elinor murmured.
"What?" Daphne looked up.
"My friends… Dominique's family…" Elinor began as the entire carriage of girls peered down, Elinor fingered a lock of brown hair "They're related to Harry Potter, they can get us out of here. We just need to tell them…"
"I have my owl!" Nicolette said, excitedly, pulling out a barn owl from her case.
"You just pulled an owl out of your suitcase!" Daphne said in astonishment.
"I know," Nicolette stated "I did it." She gave Daphne a look and then handed Elinor parchment and a quill.
"Okay… let's see. Um…" she pondered on what to say for a moment. "Dear Molly, Matty, Hugo, Marcus and co.
Please, your cousin, Dominique, a girl from Durmstrang, more girls from Hogwarts and I are being sent to Salem."
"I heard eet takes a week to get to Salem on the train." Dominique put in.
"Alright. 'It takes a week to get there, so, six days, now. We need you to bust us out of here. Thanks, Elinor."
Elinor handed the letter to Nicolette who attached it to the poor bedraggled owl. "Take this to the Ravenclaw Common Room," she said.
"Will it know where to go?" Daphne Ray asked "You were Gryffindor."
"Yeah, I always sent notes to the Ravenclaws. Stuff like 'Study Harder Eagles!'" Nicolette collapsed into giggles like it was the funniest thing in the world.
Elinor pressed her arms against the window ledge, watching the owl swoop and soar above the clouds. And Elinor wished with all her might, that she was watching these fluffy blue clouds from the Ravenclaw Tower.
Very short chapter here. I had major writers block, and also have been roleplaying with Beth, Aradia and Moony too much (I'm blaming you guys!) But I know what the next chapters gonna be so that's going to be up soon. I solemnly swear it!
Thanks to Moony1972 and GryffindorBeth who BOTH told me that my writing style had improved. Oh, and Moony, calm down, We don't want any hyperventilations! (That's not a word, is it.)
