Zoey's POV
I turned to see a short blond kid with gray eyes looking down at us sneering.
"Should have known you'd take them under your wing Potter, you've already got the other school freaks. Why not the vampyre ones?" I stood, coming to my full 5'8, and I wasn't the only one.
"Shut your mouth Malfoy." Harry snapped, grasping at his wand. The blond stayed cool and kept talking.
"And not just any vampyre freaks. You chose the weirdest of them all...The rare fledgling. " Stark lunged forward, notching an arrow in his bow. The boy paled and right as the arrow flew at him, pulled out his wand and cried out;
"Incendio!" The arrow caught fire and turned to ash before it hit him.
"Flipendo." He said, thrusting his wand at Stark. I watched in horror as Stark flipped up in the air and flew backward, landing on his stomach with a loud 'thud'. I ran over to him.
"Stark!" I checked for his pulse when he didn't answer me and sighed when I found one.
"That was completely uncalled for!" Darius exclaimed, running over with the rest of our friends, only to have the boy's wand pointed at him.
"Reduc-" He started, as Professor Snape placed a hand on his shoulder.
"Mr. Malfoy…" He drawled as Professor McGonagall, Erik and Lenobia ran up.
"Draco Malfoy!" Professor McGonagall cried out, astonished at the scene that lay before her. Erik and Lenobia ran over to where I was cradling Stark in my arms. Erik pulled me away as Lenobia checked Stark over. She tsked, then looked up at me and smiled.
"He'll be fine Zoey, he's just been knocked out. We'll take him to the hospital wing and have Sapphire take care of him. When he's awake I suspect he'll be getting a good scolding." She told me, glancing over at McGonagall.
"Twenty-five points from Slytherin!" I heard her call out.
"But Professor! That vampyre attacked me, I was simply defending myself!" McGonagall rounded on my friends, but Harry stepped forward.
"Stark was provoked Professor...Malfoy was calling them freaks. Made a joke about Zoey."
Professor Snape glared at Harry, then turned his gaze on my friends.
"That's very convenient, Mr. Potter...That the center to this story is unconscious and unable to defend himself." Lenobia then stood up, her short frame radiating power as she marched over to Severus Snape. She wore the same look she used on students who insulted her horses, when she spoke it was sharp.
"Mr. Snape. I would appreciate it if you would allow Stark to tell his own side of the story when he wakes. For the moment, I think it'd be proper to allow these students to enjoy their breakfast and for my High Priestess to take her Warrior to your hospital wing." She then turned to my friends and her tone and gaze softened.
"Darius, help Erik take Stark to the hospital wing...I'll go ahead of you and warn them." With that she swept off, her wizarding robes swishing behind her. She left the whole room star-struck. Darius was the first to recover, chuckling at the horse mistress's antics. He walked over to where Erik held me and nodded to Stark. Together they lifted him and walked out of the Great Hall, with Aphrodite on their heels. I sat there, dazed and out of it for several seconds until I felt a few hands helping me stand.
"Are you okay Z?" I heard from my friends' different voices. I looked up and saw Stevie Rae, Damien, Jack and the Twins all looking at me with concerned expressions. I shook my head to clear it and smiled carefully.
"Yea, just worried."
"He'll be fine Zo, Stark's strong. He'll probably be awake by the time we get to the hospital wing. Come on, we'll walk with you." When Damien said that I started walking. When I got to the oak doors I picked up speed and by the time I reached the stairs I was in a full out run. I heard several sets of footsteps behind me, desperate to keep up. When I got to the hospital wing I turned and was surprised to see my circle, Rephiam, and Harry and his friends had all followed me. I felt a small tug on my consciousness and smiled.
"You were right Damien. He's awake." With that I twirled around and opened the double doors, stopping only long enough to see what bed they had put him on. I heard Ron ask behind me;
"How does she know?" I ignored him and ran to where Stark was being held down by Sapphire and a woman in a red and white prairie nurse's outfit. Sapphire let go of him when she saw me, causing the other woman to get pushed backward when Stark sat up suddenly and grinned a cheshire cat grin at me as I flung my arms around him.
"No more challenging little wizard boys you understand me?" I ordered, crashing my lips onto his.
"Aye lass. I hear you clear as a bell." He replied, teasing me with the accent he had picked up while we were in Scotland. I pecked his lips and we turned to our friends. Harry, Ron, and Hermione were looking at us in shock and Harry's other friends were either glaring at Stark or looking resigned.
"You...You two are...Together?" Ron spluttered. Stark, my circle and I all chuckled.
"Yea...A little more complicated than that but yea." I told him. Damien went to explain but I shot him down with a look. Hermione didn't let that go unnoticed. I could see in her eyes she was determined to ask him about it later. She's obviously one who doesn't like secrets.
Hey, sorry I haven't updated in so long. Real life issues are a pain. Anyway, you guys are all caught up with my drafts now so you might have to wait even longer for an update. Sorry about that. But I'm writing a couple different versions of another Harry Potter fic, it's a self-insert fic...Sorry if you don't like those. But if you don't mind them, go ahead and PM me and depending on the feedback I get, I'll post it. :D
Hope your muse stays vocal and your stories flow.
