Chapter Seven
Messenger
The next day Akatsuki woke up earlier than usual to go confront Arashi but was met with disappointment when the maids informed him she and Senri had left earlier that morning.
Akatsuki clenched his fists and tsked in annoyance.
Just what are you trying to hide from me Arashi...
Earlier that day, when the sun had barely risen in the sky, a mysterious cloaked figure wandered through the academy's overgrown forests. While carefully avoiding the patrolling disciplinary committee they hastily made their way through the forests, towards the Moon Dormitaries where the two cousins lay asleep in Arashi's room.
Senri woke abruptly at the unfamiliar presense nearing and quickly poised to attack once he saw the stranger enter the room. He wasted no time in binding them with his blood whips and was about strike when the stranger's hood suddenly fell off and revealed the large 星(Hoshi) mark that was tattooed on their left cheek. Senri's eyes widened in shock as he saw this.
A messenger from the clan? No. The elders would never use their private messengers for something like this. But...then just who?
Cautiously the aristocrat released the messenger from his grasp. As he was released, the messenger knelt down and bowed his head to the higher blooded vampire.
"I offer my deepest apologizes for disturbing you Shiki-sama. However I have an urgent message to deliver to you that was directly from Araki-sama himself."
Senri visibly stiffened at the messenger's words but composed himself quickly enough that the messenger didn't notice. He looked towards Arashi for a moment and after seeing she was still deep in her sleep, motioned the messenger to follow him outside. He lead the other vampire to the nearby forests where he allowed him to continue.
"There was a report to the council that another pureblood was sighted at the academy. There was another sent to the clan by one of the lower branch family members attending your class. For these reasons Araki-sama wishes for both you and Arashi-sama to return to the main estate at once."
In a monotonic voice Senri answered, "Inform him that we shall do so. While you're at it prepare a vechile for us to ride to the estate."
At this the messenger bowed and knelt before the mahogany haired aristocrat once more, "Hai. May your star find its light Shiki-sama."
With that he swiftly disappeared back into the shadows. After he left, Senri headed his own room to change into a fresh uniform. When he got there Takuma was thankfully still alseep so he was able to change without much of a fuss. As he arrived back at Arashi's room he rummaged through her wardrobe draws in search for an outfit she could change into. He came across a dark navy kimono, a crimson red obi and a matching navy haori. With the heavy silks in hand Senri went to wake Arashi from her deep slumber. The disheveled pureblood nodded weakly as she was woken and informed of the news. Knowing she wouldn't be able to do it herself Arashi allowed the younger male to help her get dressed. She stared at the dark navy silks he draped over her and gave him a small smile of approval once he had finished tying her obi.
"Thank you." She whispered, softly planting a small kiss on his cheek as a sign of gratitude.
The silver haired heiress then tried to get up from the bed but found she barely had the strength to stand. Noticing this Senri tried to carry his cousin but was pushed away when he proposed this to her.
"Let me do this by myself. I can at least walk to the car with my own two feet." She chided playfully.
"...are you sure?" Senri asked, his sapphire blue eyes looking worringly at Arashi's frail figure.
"I am sure." She answered.
Senri was still unsure but obediently followed behind his cousin as she walked with neither her posture or her expression betraying her.
However by the time they had arrived to the front of the academy's gates, where their vehicle waited, Arashi had lost almost all the strength in her body.
"I will be fine once I get some rest in the car." Arashi said softly smiling at the frowning aristocrat before her. Senri didn't buy it for a second and wanted nothing more than to scoop Arashi up and carry her back into the dorms. But knowing he couldn't, he could only clech his fists and watch over her ever weakening star. Senri had hoped Arashi would get better with a little rest but she only got weaker as the minutes flew by and by the time they had arrived at the Hoshito estate Arashi couldn't even lift her fingers.
When the driver got out and opened the back door the mahogany haired aristocrat stepped out first to help the weakened Hoshito heiress do the same.
Arashi tried to lift herself from her seat but when it became clear that she couldn't she had no choice but to let Senri carry her. While they walked the driver held out a large wagasa to block the midday sunlight from Arashi's delicate form and was thanked by Senri once they reached the insides of the estate.
The driver bowed to the two high ranked vampires before swiftly disappearing from their sight. After he left Senri took his cousin deeper into the estate, towards the main family's quarters, where the heiress's old chambers lay.
Once inside, Senri lay Arashi onto the soft sheets of her bed and covered her frail body with its silk blankets. He sat beside her bed holding her cold hands in his and praying that her condition didn't get any worse.
