Worlds Apart, Separate Ways Ch. 7

Author's Note: Here it is everyone! I've had a lot of readers requesting that this chapter be the one I work on next so I thought, meh, why not? While there is still plenty of drama in this chapter, it should be kept in mind that there's a small lull in it for the sake of comic relief as well as other types of… "relief". That being said, I hope you guys enjoy it. Please be sure to review and favorite the story if you like.

As always, I greatly appreciate any donations you guys are able to afford. I'm still searching for a job with little luck, but every dollar you guys give me helps me in a big way. If you would like to donate, use the button on my Tumblr: kibavulpuselunal. tumblr. com. Obviously I can't put in the full link so you'll have to use that. I also post something of a series on writing tips on my Tumblr, should you guys be interested in that.

The fire crackled as I pulled my legs up to my chest, hugging them tightly. Between me and the only slightly comforting warmth that came from the mantle was Ren, his torso wrapped in bandages that worked to stop the flow of blood. When I was younger, my teacher made me learn how to sew. "It is imperative that young ladies know some sort of craft or skill to keep their minds out of getting into trouble." That's what he'd always say. I'd sewn up his wound, though doing so was very different from fabric. I didn't really have much else in the way of options and so now I just sat watching him as he lay by the fire. This was my fault. If not for me he wouldn't have gotten stabbed. I wasn't strong enough and I should have been.

Ren shivered in his unconscious slumber, the loss of blood mixed with his fever created a terrifying illness that I prayed wouldn't be too much for him. His chest continued to rise and fall as a cold sweat began to form on his brow. Taking the rag which had grown warm, I dipped it into the cool water I had nearby before wiping the sweat from him. His face scrunched up, as though he were having a terrible nightmare. I ran my hand through his hair, trying to soothe him. "Ren…I don't know if you can hear me…" I whispered softly, "but if you can, what you did was very brave and very stupid. You saved my life…and I'm so, so very sorry that you got hurt. It's all my fault." Leaning forward I placed a kiss on his cheek. "Thank you Ren."

As soon as my lips left his cheek, a look of peace crossed his face as he groaned. Despite the way I felt in my heart, I forced a smile, knowing that at least he was alive. Standing from his side I decided to return to the kitchen to get some refreshments. My teacher always taught me that a cup of warm herbal tea soothes the mind and the heart. I hoped he was right. Placing the kettle on the burner I sat at the table, waiting patiently as I began to contemplate what to do next. Surely they wouldn't come back…but if they did, I'd have to be ready. I wasn't going to let Ren be taken again, especially since he'd tried so hard to prevent me from being taken from him.

The kettle's high pitched whistle stirred me from my thoughts. I was shocked by how long I'd zoned out. Rising I reached for one of the cups and immediately jerked my hand back as a stabbing pain raced through my forehead accompanied by the worst noise I'd ever heard in my life. It was horrid! As if thousands of buzzers were going off in my ears while some child screamed at the top of its lungs. I fell to my knees in pain, but as quickly as the sensation came it left, leaving me breathless on the floor, the teakettle still whistling for my attention. For a few moments, I stayed on the ground and braced myself in case the sensation came back. Satisfied that it was indeed gone for good, I rose to my feet pouring tea for both of us in case he woke up.

Floating slowly up the staircase, I smiled as I saw he was sitting up staring into the fire. "You're awake!" I cried, stating the obvious as I floated near him. Sitting beside him he turned to look at me, and I could tell from his expression that something was troubling him. "Ren?" I called to him questioningly, his eyes staring intently into mine as if trying to find something. My cheeks turned a bright red; he just kept staring without a word. "Would you care for some tea?" I asked, unsure of why he wasn't saying anything. Silently he reached for the cup that I offered before bringing it to his lips and sipping it gently. His silence was beginning to bother me, something just wasn't right with him. "Ren, please say something…anything." I pleaded.

"Syndra…" He stated causing me to nod in response. "Syndra, what did you do back there?"

My mind reeled with his words, flickering through memories as I could hear his words echoing with my mother's, just after I killed my father. "Syndra…what have you done?" I felt something touch my shoulder as my eyes began to focus again to see the concerned face of Ren.

"Syndra, you can trust me. I just want to know what you did to the Elder." I swallowed, hanging my head low in shame. I couldn't believe I'd let myself snap like that in front of him. He probably hated me now.

"I ripped apart her arm. I used magic to completely disintegrate it." I whispered softly.

"And?" He asked curiously.

"And I thought about ripping off the rest of her limbs too until I carried you back here." I whispered again. I knew what was coming next; he was going to scold me like a child. Though the way I'd behaved back in the city, I wouldn't blame him.

His hand reached out slowly and gently rested on my head, stroking my hair affectionately. "Well that's good." He sighed, the relief apparent in his tone. I looked at him in confusion as he smiled warmly at me. I was speechless, what was good about it?

"So you don't hate me?" I asked.

"Of course not! Why would I hate you?"

"For hurting my mother?"

He smiled softly at me and gently lifted my chin to look into my eyes. "Syndra…what I saw today from you scared me out of my wits. The way you laughed when you destroyed your mothers arm chilled me to the bone. When you blew off her arm, I feared that the stress had caused me to lose you forever. But when I told you not to kill her…you didn't. Don't you see Syndra? I was able to bring you back from whatever dark place she'd put you in."

I stayed silent. I didn't know how to respond to that. I remembered all of my anger and hatred filling my eyes with a haze. I remember the amazing joy I felt at destroying my mother's limbs and the blood lust that went with it. "I did a bad thing." I whispered.

"Yes. But it could have been so, so much worse." He replied, sipping his tea once more. "You could have killed her, but you didn't. Hold on to that Syndra…when you start to doubt yourself again just remember that. You could have killed her, but you chose not to."

"But that's because you told me not to."

"But you still made that choice. And because of that I'm so proud of you." He was proud of me? I looked up into his smiling face, a warm tingling sensation flooding my entire being as I watched him. Ever so slowly, I felt my lips curl into a smile as I shyly returned his gesture. He chuckled lightly. "There's that beautiful smile that I adore."

Immediately I tried to get rid of the smile, my cheeks turning bright red in embarrassment. He just laughed at my reaction to his compliment before leaning closer to whisper in my ear. "And don't think I didn't feel you kiss my cheek earlier." He winked at me playfully before I folded my arms, turning away from him.

"Don't be stupid. I only did that because I thought you were going to die. Now that you're on the up and up, don't expect any more kisses from me. Got it?"

"If I want more kisses from you I have to steal them. Got it."

I blushed again and shook my head. "Wait, I didn't…" I turned back to face him only to see his lopsided grin that he wore when he was teasing me. Normally I'd have bounced one of my orbs off of his head. But instead, I just sighed. "I'm glad you're okay."

"I'm glad you're glad."

The two of us sat in silence, unsure of what to say next given the situation we'd been thrown into. "So…" I said, trying to break the silence. I'd hoped that more conversation would come to me, but it felt like anything I brought up would only serve to ruin the mood.

"So…" He repeated, leaning back to gaze into the dancing flames. "I guess this is my new home now."

"What?" I asked, looking at him like he was insane. "Not a chance! This is my house, and you've got your own."

"Not anymore. I kind of got kicked out of the town remember? Getting a knife in the shoulder by the Elder isn't exactly a 'Please come back soon'. And it's not like I've got anywhere else to stay."

"But…But…" I stood up stomping my foot. "No! Absolutely not! Just because your stupid friends came in and attacked me and dragged me off doesn't mean that you get to just make a free claim to my things. In fact, since you're the one who got me into that mess you should be doing something for me!"

"But I got a knife in the shoulder!" He objected.

"And I nearly drowned!" I shot back causing us both to fall silent, but even still he wore that same stupid grin. He was planning something, I could see the cogwheels starting to turn in his head already.

"Well then milady what do you suggest?" He asked, resting his chin in his hand as the smile on his mouth got bigger. "I can't give you something if you don't ask for it." I froze as I considered the question. Was he enjoying this? What game was he playing?

"Well…I…"

"I'm just wondering because I mean, I've already given you my camera, my projector, my video games, my popcorn maker…there really isn't anything left that I have to offer you. Well…except for that."

"That?" I asked cautiously.

He nodded his head slowly, his eyes never leaving mine as he continued. "Well, the only thing I really have left to offer is myself. I mean, that's what they used to do in the days of old isn't it? If a family couldn't pay their debts they were enslaved and forced to live for their masters."

I couldn't understand why he was suggesting this. He wanted to be a slave? That didn't make any sense at all. I knew he must have a trick up his sleeve, he's expecting me to turn him down. And if I say no, then he'll have won because he didn't have to give me anything. Well I'd play along with his game. "Very well." I agreed, smirking at him to show that I was on to his little game. "You can serve as my butler. You'll have to cook my meals, clean my tiles, and polish my orbs. On top of that you'd have to do anything I tell you to, isn't that right?" He nodded. "Then it's settled. You're my new servant. No changing it now." I beamed triumphantly. I'd beaten him at his own game.

"But…if I'm to be your servant…" he continued, placing a finger to lips as though he'd just thought of a crucial detail. "Then that'd mean…why that means I'd have to live here, now doesn't it?" I turned a bright red as the cogwheels finally clicked into place. I couldn't believe I'd fallen right into his trap!

"You dirty cheater!" I yelled. "You know what, I've changed my mind, I don't want you as my servant."

He just smiled and winked at me. "No changing it now. That's what you said isn't it?" I sighed in defeat.

"Fine. You can stay here." I grumbled, turning away from him. As I did, I felt him wrap his arms around me from behind, his warm breath in my ear as he pressed close against me. Every word his spoke was dripping with a tone that was indescribable.

"Whatever you say…Mistress." Immediately my cheeks flushed before I turned around shoving him away.

"Idiot! Why are you being so creepy?" I asked before walking away from him.

He fell into pace, following behind me as I stormed down the stairs, trying to hide the blushing of my cheeks, knowing he'd only make fun of me if he saw them. "But Mistress! I live to serve!" He called in a posh tone, causing me to blush more.

"Will you stop calling me that?!"

"Calling you what Mistress? It is only fitting that I call my Mistress, Mistress seeing as how I'm my Mistress' servant and all. Do you have any orders, Mistress?" I stopped, wheeling on him ready to scold him, but his last question caused a smile to come to my face.

"You know what…as a matter of fact, I do." Wrapping my hand around his wrist I began to lead him towards the library, causing him to laugh as he followed after. He may think this is still some sort of a game, but I knew exactly what to do to wipe that stupid smirk off his face. Continuing to lead him down the dark corridors that were the gigantic bookshelves in the library I had him stand in the center where all of the shelves spread out from in a radial area. "Now wait here. I'll give you my orders in a moment okay?" He just shrugged, standing there and rocking back and forth on his heels patiently.

That idiot. He had no idea . Unlike him I had a bird's eye view of the library, and it was something I noticed a long time ago. The way the tiles on the floor were arranged, as well as the bookshelves, served to form a spell circle. Most people without magic assume that such things are only able to cast one spell…but for a skilled mage, a spell circle can be used to cast any multitude of spells, and I knew the perfect one. Soaring overhead, I slowly placed my hands on the edge of the circle and closed my eyes before channeling my magic.

"Erised yreve ym etas ot hsiw llahs uoy! Em evres ot ouy dnib ot etaf dna ssenkrad fo sniahc eht dnammoc i!"As I chanted the ancient spell, the tiles on the floor began to glow as they raced towards the middle where he stood. I smirked, knowing that soon he would indeed be my servant, and once he'd had enough and wished he'd not agreed, I'd undo the spell for him.

"Umm…Syndra…?" I heard him calling out for me, his voice nervous as he watched the lights swirl around him in a vortex of arcane energy. Ethereal chains shot from the ground, wrapping around his wrists and ankles like manacles that attached him to this place. After a moment, the chains vanished, leaving him on his hands and knees breathing heavily.

I smiled smugly as I slowly returned before looming over him, my arms crossed. I had been victorious, and now that he was under my spell, he'd have no choice but to sate my every desire. "I'm here Ren. How are you feeling?" I asked playfully as he looked up at me, his eyes shining softly.

"A little strange …did something happen?"

I smiled sweetly at him, my hands behind my back as I giggled. "No," I lied, slipping off my shoe. "But could you fetch this for me?" I turned and threw the shoe as hard as I could down one of the pathways. Without even responding he ran after it, picking it up and bringing it back to me. On his face was a look of fear and confusion. "Oh! That's right…I did put this one little spell on you. It's called a Puppet spell. Now you have to do everything I ask."

"Syndra! You can't just…"

I held up a finger. "No complaining." I giggled and immediately he stopped talking, but I could see by the shine in his eyes that he was getting frustrated with me. "After all, you were the one who suggested you be my servant. I'm just making sure you'll be a good one. Now then…don't you have something you want to ask me?" I smirked as he seemed to try to fight the control that I had over him.

"What do you desire Mistress?" He asked through gritted teeth.

"Polish my orbs." I laughed as he walked past me, assuming he was going to perform the task. However, my laughter stopped as I felt his hands wrap around me and squeeze my breasts. My eyes went wide as I turned my head to try to look back at him. "What the hell are you doing?!" I yelped in surprise as he began to massage and caress them. I swallowed, trying hard to ignore the fact that I was actually enjoying how this felt and as if I couldn't control it I pressed back against him.

"Polishing your orbs Mistress." He purred in my ear, his fingers running gently over my flesh to where my nipples had hardened and now were pressing through the thin fabric of my shirt. The next words sent shivers down my spine as he gently pinched the nubs, rolling them between his fingers. "You should be more careful with your phrasing Mistress."

"This…isn't…mmm…what I…" my words trailed off as he continued to addle my mind with his skillful hands. I'd never had any idea that being touched like this could be so pleasurable. My breathing became heavier as I pressed my chest outward into his hands, my arms now at my side as I surrendered myself to him.

"I began to think about that spell…" he whispered in my ear. "When you told me about it, I realized what you'd done. I have to fulfill your desires…isn't that right? So that means that secretly, you're loving this." I blushed as I tried to deny it, but was unable to. It would have just been a lie anyway. "You can always tell me to stop…Mistress." He said but I shook my head, my mind going back to the sensations I felt when I'd laid in bed after watching that movie.

"No…" I gasped, one hand going to his. "I want you to touch me…"

"You want me to what?" His words sounded surprised, but I just pulled his hand down to where my legs were, lifting up the small skirt and placing it on my thigh. "Syndra, what are you…"

"I want you to touch me here." I whispered, causing his hand to almost immediately brush against my inner thighs. I felt goose bumps run along my skin as his fingertips brushed against my panties. I could feel heat and moisture growing between my thighs as I let out a relaxed moan.

"As you wish…I guess…" He whispered, pulling me closer to him and causing me to gasp. Reaching behind me, I ran my hand through his hair, wanting to feel the warmth of his lips on my neck which he eagerly obliged. I could sense his hesitation, and I'd hoped that this hadn't gone too far for him. I began to wonder if the spell was such a great idea…though he was right. Use any loophole he wanted; it was my desires that he had to sate which meant he wouldn't do anything that would make me displeased.

"Ren?"

"Mmm?"

"Do you like doing this?" I asked, gasping as he gently stroked my nipple with his thumb. "I mean…would you enjoy this without the spell?" He said nothing at first but then I came up with an idea. "Ren…I want you to do what you'd want if I removed the spell right now." Now even if he denied it, I could prove he was enjoying this as much as I was. He smiled leaning forward, and as I turned my head to look at him, he placed his lips against mine. This was it…my first kiss. I kissed him back, unsure if I was doing it correctly. He just sighed softly into my lips, and I let out a surprised squeak as he slipped his hand into my panties, stroking my…my…I couldn't even bring myself to complete the thought as his finger slipped inside of me, slowly moving in and out. His other hand began to pull off the lace that held my top together exposing my pale breasts to the warm air of the library as he gently pinched and rolled my nipple.

I could feel the blood burning in my cheeks as I moaned into his lips, the pleasure he was granting me so much better than the one I provided for myself that night. So this is why that woman surrendered to the thief so easily. I suddenly began to grow very nervous as I thought of what came next. "Ren…you're not going to…umm…"I stuttered as I pulled away from the kiss to look into his eyes.

As if he could finish my sentence for me he reassuringly shook his head. I relaxed back into his arms, my hips rising at his command as he slid a second finger in me. It felt so full, but I loved it so much. His fingers began to move faster, his thumb brushing over the hood near the top of my slit sending pleasure through my body like jolts of electricity. "Is this uncomfortable?" He asked causing me to shake my head no. If he stopped now, I was relatively sure I'd die I was so close.

"I…I feel…I feel something…" I gasped as he continued, moving even faster than before. The sounds of his movements echoed softly around us, accented only by the moans that poured from lips with every breath I released.

"It's okay Mistress…" he whispered to me, "just enjoy it." I swallowed, as my eyelids fell shut, and I could feel my legs becoming weak beneath me as my entire body began to strain. My fingers eagerly pulled his hair as I moaned his name. Even the pleasure from this was one I knew I couldn't create myself. My legs clamped around his hands as I let out a pleasured squeal. My eyes were filled with light as at last my juices poured forth, my head tilting back and letting out a loud moan that seemed to cause the entire library to shake. As I began to come down from my pleasure high, I felt him pull his hands from me as dust slowly trickled from the roof, the rumbling having shaken it free.

"That was…amazing…" I gasped softly, having collapsed into his arms. He nodded in agreement, gently leaning forward and placing a kiss on my lips. I shyly kissed him back, only for him to pull away a moment later.

"Umm…excuse me for a bit…" He said shakily, his eyes avoiding mine as he quickly left the room, leaving me completely stunned and my body exposed. My lips parted to call out to him, to ask him where he was going, but he'd already gone. I took a deep breath as I snapped my finger, my clothes reforming around me as I just hovered there, alone. Thoughts began to run through my head. Had I done something wrong? I began to wonder if what had happened between us was a mistake. Yes…that had to be it. I had messed up somewhere…he didn't want to do that to me. The last thing I wanted was for him to be forced to do something against his will…well at least nothing like that.

Floating in the direction he ran, I began to seek him out as I followed up the stairs. In the bathroom I could see the light shining from underneath, and the water was running full blast in the shower. "Ren?" I called out hesitantly. "Are you in there?"

"Just a moment!" He called out hastily, "I…don't come in!" I frowned backing away from the door a little bit. Was he taking a shower? Suddenly, a thought came to mind. He…felt dirty? That must be it. My heart sank as the inevitable truth came out. He was washing me from him. He found me unpure and dirty. He probably thought I was filth. I already knew what comes next. Tears streaming down my cheeks, I began to make my preparations.

As soon as Syndra came down from her climax, Ren could feel the desire that he'd sensed from her magic fade away. That was far from what he had expected when he decided to playfully grope her. But…he couldn't deny that he had enjoyed it. When Syndra asked him if he was okay with it, he wasn't quite sure how to respond, he had wanted to tell her he liked it but before he could answer she gave him another instruction. This time, however, it was one he gladly obeyed.

When he'd kissed her for the first time, he felt a spark that caused his heart to race. After all that had happened between them, he was shocked to see that the kiss he offered was reciprocated by her as well. She enjoyed it…she wanted it. And he wanted her, so very badly. He was nervous about how she would react to him moving further forward, and though her spell had made him do it without hesitation he knew his hand would have been shaking like crazy when he went to do it. Her snatch was so warm and tight, as if she'd never done anything even remotely close before, and as he felt her body reacting to his ministrations he found himself becoming lost in his own desire.

It would be a lie if he were to say that over the last few days he'd started to develop a connection to Syndra. Twice now she'd saved his life and he didn't intend to go without repaying that debt either. But he had no idea just how deep their connection went until now. It was only when she hesitated that he began to fight against the spell she'd placed him under. He whispered sweet words to her, promises that he prayed to the Gods above would be kept as he began to move faster and faster for her. She couldn't tell as he kissed her neck, but the truth was he wasn't focusing so much on pleasuring her at that point. He was using every ounce of will that he had to fight what he knew could possibly happen.

Every moan she made worked to weaken his resolve as he move faster and faster, knowing the sooner he ended it the sooner his troubles would be over. And when at last he felt her body tighten around his fingers, the way his name poured from her lips nearly sent him over the edge. He could feel himself fully aroused now, and as he pulled from her, the dust began to fall over the entire complex. When she looked at him he kissed her, and immediately the dam began to break in his spirit. He had to leave…NOW! "Umm…excuse me…for a bit…" He ran, as fast as he possibly could, unable to make even so much as eye contact with her for fear that if he did so he'd live to regret it. Why couldn't she have thought of better wording? Her command had to be what he desired, and the only reason he had the strength to resist his urges now was because he knew that more than this he desired her to trust him. He couldn't betray that trust for his own reasons, nothing could make him do that, not even Syndra's powerful magic.

Having made it to the bathroom, fighting the spell the entire way, he slammed the door behind him before quickly running to the shower. Reaching forward his hand found the knob that led to the reservoir that was still housed in the large clump of land beneath the fortress. He thanked the Gods that it was still there. Turning the knob, immediately water poured forth and removing his clothes he took a deep breath and stepped into its frigid path. "Ren?" He heard her calling him through the door and he knew if she came in now he may not be able to stop himself. "Are you in there?"

"Just a moment!" he called back, turning the water even colder as he looked down at the evidence of his arousal. "I…don't come in!" There was no reply and as the cold water continued to wash down over him he could slowly feel his arousal flowing with it down the drain. After another hour he turned off the shower, dried off, and redressed before opening the door. "Syndra?" He asked, looking around only to find a small piece of paper on the ground.

His eyes scanned the words on the page and his heart sank. "Damn it!" He cursed, crunching up the note and throwing it in the trash. He couldn't believe how foolish she could be sometimes. The note read: "Dearest Ren, Sorry for what happened in the library…I know you find me dirty and I'm sorry that I manipulated you the way I did. It's my fault you don't have a home anymore, so I want you to take mine. I'll find another one somewhere else in the mountains. Don't worry; you won't have to see me again. Sincerely, Syndra." He wouldn't let this come to pass; it had only been an hour and she couldn't have gone far. He swore he'd find her, and when he did he'd make sure to bring her back home safe. Grabbing his cloak from the lounge, he ran out the door into the frigid night.

To be continued…
