7. Flower
The morning was gray. Dawn sat up, frowning slightly. She climbed out of bed, sniffled and coughed. Her head was stuffed and her throat was itchy. Now, Dawn rarely got angry but at this point she was furious. She was sick, it was raining and to top it off, it was Valentine's Day! Knowing school was out of the question she let her mother know she was sick, curled back up in bed and promptly fell asleep.
Upon waking she was met by a single rose on her pillow and a printed card that read,
"Roses are red,
Violets are blue,
My Valentine Day's sweet
Because of you."
She knew for a fact that the card had come with the flower, the little ribbon around the stem of the rose told her that, so she knew it wasn't hand written. But the message was still sweet none the less. There was a messy signature at the bottom which made her grin. She got out of bed, found a vase and filled with water. She placed the rose in the vase, setting the card beside it. She smiled, curled back into bed and murmured softly,
"Happy Valentine's Day Scott. Thank You."
