A.N. CAN SOMEONE PLEASE MAKE ME A CRUTCHIE ORIGIN STORY! YOU WOULD MAKE ME THE HAPPIEST PERSON EVER!
Scout POV
I heard a groan come from beside me. I looked over at Ponyboy just as he opened his eyes. He sat up trembling. His shirt was completely soaked through, clinging to his frame. His hair was plastered down to his head and he looked very pale. He had that "deer-stuck-in-headlights" look.
"I killed him, I killed that boy… I killed him", Johnny looked over at Ponyboy his lips trembling.
"Johnny, I think I'm gonna be sick."
"I won't watch ya." Ponyboy ran over to a nearby bush and started to vomit. I slowly got up and limped over to Pony and rubbed his back as he was hunched over. He sat on the ground and leaned against me, closing his eyes. Johnny got up and started pacing, slapping his pockets, his knife left vacated in the grass. I crawled over to it, wiping it off in the grass and stuck it in my back pocket.
"What are we gonna do", Pony nearly screamed. I crawled back over a shushed him, hugging him.
"Dally, Dally will know what to do", Johnny started to speak slowly. Pony and I got up and started to follow him.
"Scout, your ankle!" Johnny ran back over to me and bent down.
"I don't want ya walking on that." Johnny picked me up in his arms and cradled me to his chest. I put my head on his shoulder and we started to Buck's; Dally had to be there.

Ten minutes later, we were on Buck's front porch. I crinkled my nose at the sound of Hank Williams, ick. The shrill voices of slutty women and Buck's bar maids assaulted my ears, but really what's the difference between the two. Pony knocked on the door and Buck answered.
"What do you want."
"We're here to see Dally", Johnny answered.
"He's busy."
"Just get him, tell him it's Johnny, Ponyboy and Scout", Pony glared at Buck. I felt so proud, Pony bullying Buck. How much funnier could you get?
A minute later, Dally came to the door, clad in only a pair of jeans.
"Alright, what do ya need?"
"Johnny killed a soc", Pony blurted out. Johnny started to tell Dally the story. I looked over at Pony again. He looked miserable, his eyes wide and his teeth chattering. Tear tracks very still visible of his cheeks.
"Scout, what happened to you?"
"A soc attacked me and I hurt my ankle." Dally's face contorted with anger. He touched my ankle and I gave a squeak of pain. I could have kicked myself. Dally took a deep breath and turned to Pony.
"Ponyboy, are you wet?"
"Y-yeah."
"Glory halleluiah! You'll die of pneumonia before the cops get to ya." Dally pulled us up the stairs and into an empty bedroom. We sat down on a bed and Dally tossed a holey towel at Pony. Johnny pulled a cigarette out of his pocket and lit it with his lighter. He laid down on the bed next to me taking slow drags out of the cancer stick.
"Here, it's Buck's. You 'n him ain't exactly the same size, but it's dry." Pony buttoned up the shirt. I smiled; he was swimming in it. The shirt could have fit all three of us and still have room to spare.
"This is all I could get out of Buck", Dally handed me a wad of money and Johnny a gun, "don't point that thing at me". Dally handed Pony his brown leather jacket, a pack of cigarettes in the pocket.
"Take the 3:15 to Windrixville. Up on Jay Mountain there is an old abandoned church, hide in there. Go get your supplies as soon as you get there, before the story leaks out. There's a pump for water. Then, don't so much as stick your noses out. I come up when I can." He walked us to the door. Just as we were about to leave, Dally grabbed my shoulder.
"And Scout, watch them. Be tough kid." He messed up Johnny's hair.
"Get." With that, Johnny picked me back up and we ran into the dark.

We hid behind the brush next to the train, the whistle blew. Johnny tossed me up onto the car and climbed in after me, pulling Pony up behind him. We curled ourselves up in the far corner of the car and the train started to move. Pony curled up on Johnny's legs and promptly fell asleep.
"He had a long day", I ran my fingers through Pony's hair. Johnny sighed and leaned his head against my shoulder. I kissed his black hair and leaned my head on top of his.
"I'm a murderer." Johnny fiddled with the gun in his hand. It kept pointing back towards him. Even with the safety on, I was afraid he would try something. I put my hand on top of his.
"Better Bob dead than Pony."
"I guess, but I wish I didn't kill him."
"What's done is done. You saved Pony's life. You aren't a murderer, you're a protector." Johnny smiled slightly.
"A protector." He sounded uncertain, but proud.
"Yes, and I'm your protector. Now, you need some sleep. I'll wake you up when we arrive." Johnny closed his eyes and fell asleep in a second.
The sun was just rising when we had to jump off.
"Come on, wake up." I shook both boys awake and we jumped off the moving train into the grass. My ankle finally started to feel better from last night. I lay in the grass for a moment, not caring about the dew soaking my legs from my cut-off shorts. The sun kissed my skin, warming me from the outside in. I felt completely at peace. Johnny sat up and rubbed his legs.
"Pony", he playfully scolded, "I nearly didn't make it off the train. My legs fell asleep."
"Sorry", Pony smirked.
"Which way to Jay Mountain", I asked and looked over the landscape and furrowed my eyebrows.
"I'm not sure. Pony, make like a farm boy taking a walk and ask someone", Johnny turned to Pony.
"Pony stop slouching like a thug and comb your hair", I reprimanded. Pony pulled a comb out of his pocket and ran it through his hair.
"Better?"
"Better."
"Man, Pony", Johnny said, "I never realized how much you look like Soda."
"I look as much like Soda as you do. Soda's handsome."
"Well, you are too." Pony blushed and walked off. Johnny laughed then turned to me.
"I think you are more handsome than Soda." Johnny blushed and looked away. I moved to sit in front of him. I leaned in and captured his lips into a kiss. I started to get more intense every second. I sat in Johnny's lap and raked my hands through his hair. He grabbed my face, pulling me closer to him, our foreheads touching. At the snap of a twig we sprung apart. Pony came traipsing back, smirking. Johnnycake and I pretended to not know what ever Ponyboy was thinking about as we stood back up.
It took the entire day to make it up Jay Mountain. By the time we broke through the wood covering the nearest window my legs felt like Jell-O and my eyes kept drooping down. I nearly fell asleep standing up, twice. I stumbled in through the window and curled up on the most comfortable looking area of the hard, stone floor. I laid my head on top of Johnny's chest and finally began to dream.
