I'm getting better you guys! See? Hardly over a week since my last update! ^_^ PLUS, this is something I've been slowly making progress on for WEEKS! And I mean weeks you guys. For some reason, I found it really hard to finish this story. Which explains its sloppy ending...and yes! It's the END of this story!
So, THANK YOU all soooooooooo much for sticking around for this story despite it's ups and downs! It wasn't very long compared to most of my other stories, but somehow it's managed to better than a lot of them. Thank you guys all so much for not only reviewing, but for reading as well!
Disclaimer: Nicktoons and Marvel and whatnot are the owners off IMAA, not me! I swear!
Not too long later, she felt a weight settle down on the bottom of the bed. She didn't bother to open her eyes for two reasons. For one, she knew exactly who it was. It was none other than her boyfriend, Tony. After all, nobody she knew would dare to crawl up next to her like this. Though, she also didn't open her eyes because she was still super tired. Who wouldn't be after being outside in a blizzard for who knows how long?
A pair of arms wrapped around her, but nothing was said. He was probably trying not to wake her up. Too late for that, but she let him think she was still asleep. She almost fell back asleep too. His arms around her kept her extremely warm, the feel of his heartbeat on her back was very soothing, and just his scent alone were perfect to fall asleep to.
Just as she was about to fall back asleep, her phone rang startling her awake. She mentally pouted as his arms pulled away sluggishly. He must have been about to fall asleep too. She reached for her phone that she had placed on the table next to the bed beforehand.
If it was anyone else, she would have let it keep ringing, but when she saw that it was her dad, she answered it. "Hey, dad."
"I have been trying to reach you all day!" her dad said. "Where have you been?"
"I'm at Tony's," she responded, laying back down on the bed, "is something wrong?"
"Nothing's wrong, but I've tried calling you for the past three hours."
At that statement, Pepper glanced over at the clock and realized that she had been sleeping for well over three hours. Yet she was still tired. "Sorry about that, I've been sleeping."
Her dad sighed, "That's alright I was just worried."
"Don't be, I'll be home once they get the roads plowed."
"See you then I guess," he said, "bye."
She nodded even though he couldn't see her, "bye, dad."
"Say hi to Tony for me," her dad said.
"I will, bye."
As she returned the phone back to the table she rolled onto her side facing towards her blue-eyed genius. He had his eyes closed and for a moment, Pepper wondered if he'd fallen asleep, but just as she thought that his eyes opened and stared right at her.
"Sleep well?"
She smiled and pulled the blankets close to her. "Yes, it was very comfy."
"I'd hope so," Tony replied, "I have to sleep here every night."
"I hate snow," Pepper mumbled into the blankets.
"You hate the snow, the rain, and the heat," Tony stated, "what don't you hate?"
Pepper lightly punched his arm, but laughed. "I don't hate you."
"I don't hate you too."
At that moment, Pepper's stomach decided to make itself known. The two sat in silence for a moment before bursting into laughter. "Okay, I guess I'm hungry!" Pepper said getting out the bed.
Tony joined her as she headed to the kitchen. "Now that you mention it, I'm hungry too."
…
A few days had passed and it had finally stopped snowing. Actually, to be honest, it stopped snowing two days prior to this day. It just took two extra days after the snow storm to plow the streets enough to free the buried cars and blocked off roads.
Due to the lack of plowed roads, Pepper had been forced to stay at Tony's the entire time. Not that she cared, in fact it was a lot more fun than being stuck at her house the entire time. Of course, hanging with her dad would have been nice—great actually—but at some point she would have probably wanted a little space or time out of the house.
When she realized she was free to return home she literally ran out of Tony's house and jumped into the snow shouting something or another about freedom. Tony laughed at her enthusiasm as he stood in the doorway and pointed out that it wasn't so bad, especially since the power had returned the previous day and they were able to watch movie after movie to keep their boredom at bay. She agreed, but she also pointed out that it wasn't fun to stay in one place for too long. He decided not to argue as she came back inside.
"I guess this means I should head back home," Pepper said, "my dad's probably waiting for me."
Tony leaned against the wall and nodded, "Then this is goodbye?"
"For a few days," Pepper agreed, "yeah."
Tony smiled and pushed himself off of the wall and walked closer to the redhead. With a quick duck of his head, his lips connected with hers in yet another warm feeling kiss. "I'll walk with you."
…
Later on, once they arrived at Pepper's house her dad joyfully let Tony in. "How've you been, son."
Tony laughed nervously, not expecting Virgil to call him 'son'. "Better than usual, I guess."
Pepper happily hugged her dad and dragged the man down due to their height difference. Tony stood back almost awkwardly as the two reunited after the snow storm that separated them. Although understandable, Pepper was acting as if it had been ages since the two had seen each other. Though, with his line of work, he wouldn't have doubted it if it was true.
"You guys hungry? I was just about to fix up a lunch," Virgil asked as Pepper let him go.
"I'm fine," Tony said, "I ate before we left."
"Don't worry about it, we have enough food!" Virgil insisted assuming Tony just didn't want to intrude. Which was somewhat true. At that moment, Tony realized that the two hardly spent much time at each other's houses. Most of their time together was either spent at the armory, school, or Rhodey's house with Rhodey.
He dismissed the thought as Pepper and her dad led the way to the kitchen Tony's visited only a handful of times. Pepper sat next to him at the dining table next to the kitchen as her dad prepared three sandwiches for them.
"His sandwiches are awesome! You'll see," Pepper said excitedly, "they're the best!"
"Better than Mrs. Rhodes's sandwiches?" Tony asked, remembering everything that the woman had made for them when he used to live with them. Her cooking was honestly better than any restaurant's food.
Pepper hesitated, also remembering the cooking of the lawyer. "No, but they're close."
Soon after, they were either stuffing their faces full of sandwiches or sharing stories of their time during the snow storm. Of course it wasn't too interesting, saying they basically spent the whole time in their houses, but Virgil seemed both interested and concerned with their story about the journey they had getting to Tony's house in the first place. Although, he had scolded the two for being stupid enough to go out in that type of weather, he ended up laughing saying that he was glad they were alright.
Once lunch was finished, Virgil had to excuse himself to go to his office to catch up on work, leaving behind the two teens as they put their dirty dishes in the sink to be washed later. Pepper then brought Tony up to her room, deciding that they should do something before he left.
"Play a game?" Pepper asked, looking to her closet where the games were.
"Sure," Tony shrugged.
…
It was a few hours after Tony had returned from walking Pepper home and the sky was already getting dark. Though, it wasn't nearly time to start heading to bed even for a normal teen. So, Tony did what he normally did. He tinkered around on his now fully charged phone, thinking of ways to improve it even more than it already was.
As he did that, Rhodey had called wondering the same thing everyone else was wondering. "What did you do during the snow storm? Weren't you and Pepper stuck in the armory?"
Tony chuckled, "We were for the first part of it."
"What's that supposed to mean?" Rhodey asked.
"Well, we ran out of food in the armory for some reason," Tony said, "and Pepper threatened to go crazy with now food or water, so we ended up walking to my house."
"How'd you run out of food? Did you have a sudden urge to eat or something?" Rhodey questioned, "Wait! You walked in that blizzard!?"
"Why do both you and Pepper blame me for eating all the food?" Tony demanded. "I hardly touched the food, since I just bought new stuff!"
"Hang on," Rhodey said slowly, "you said you walked in that blizzard! Man, are you crazy or something? Are you guys alright?"
"Yes, mom," Tony sighed, "we're fine. But seriously, you had to have eaten some of that food, because I know I didn't eat it all."
"…"
"Rhdoey…"
"Yeah, about that…" Rhodey began, his voice dripping in guilt.
"You ate all the food?" Tony asked. "How hungry were you?"
"Well, I missed both breakfast and lunch because I was studying for class. I was starved!" Rhodey defended.
At that point, Tony didn't know what to say. He sighed, but in the end he found himself laughing. "Wow, dude. We have you to blame for almost freezing to death."
"I didn't try too, I'm sorry!"
"I'm telling Pepper about this, I hope you know that."
"No! Don't tell her!" Rhodey said panicked.
Tony laughed, "I'm going to tell her and she will not be happy with you."
"No, please man, I didn't mean to!" Rhodey pleaded as if his life depended on it. "The last time I accidentally ate her candy, she flipped! I'm so dead if you tell her!"
"Promise to not eat all the food again?" Tony asked.
"Promise! And if I do, I'll tell you next time." Rhodey promised.
"You better," Tony said.
…
Weeks later, the snow finally melted to the point it was only in small patches around the city. Although the snow was practically gone, there was still a chill in the air that sometimes brought a light snow to the air, but that was it. Snow continuously failed to stick on the ground until the point the snow stopped falling completely.
The adults returned to work and the kids and teens returned to school. Also meaning, our favorite trio has found themselves once again in the armory. Which, by the way, was now fully stacked with food and beverages for each and every one of them so hopefully, that situation doesn't come up again.
Currently, Tony was working on the armor which decided to malfunction after the previous mission fighting the Maggia, Pepper was messing around on the computer as usual, and Rhodey was once again studying for tests. Though this time, he was sure not to starve himself. Although it wasn't likely that another snow storm would happen, it doesn't mean that Tony would be very happy with him if he ate their newly packed fridge within the first few day they had the food.
"I'm bored!" Pepper whined, apparently not finding interest in Tony's giant super computer. "We've been in here for hours and I already finished my homework for the weekend."
"Just a little longer, Pep," Tony assured her for the third time.
"You said that an hour ago!"
"Yeah, well only twenty minutes ago you froze the computer up and I had to spend ten minutes trying to undo it," Tony reminded her. "What did you do to it anyway?"
"Nothing!"
"How do you manage to freeze a computer that's built to handle hacking into the most secure security systems?" Rhodey asked looking up from his book.
"I don't know, I just…did!" Pepper said, glaring at the two boys who laughed and returned to what they were doing.
"I'm almost done, Pep," Tony said waving his screwdriver above his head, "just a few more adjustments."
Pepper waited as patiently as a person with her patience could handle for the next ten minutes when Tony had finally finished fixing up the armor. He joined her in front of the computer, which was currently just a blank screen besides a little progress bar in the corner for some program Tony was installing into the armor via computer.
"What is that anyways?" Pepper asked pointing to the progress bar. "That's been there since before the whole freeze-up happened."
"Nothing important," Tony said, "just a small system upgrade."
"That's boring," Pepper commented, "Can we go do something fun, like roller blading or hunting down evil villains, or something?"
Tony rolled his eyes and waved over to Rhodey, "Want to go do something?"
Rhodey shrugged and closed the book he was currently studying out of, "I guess I've got nothing better to do."
"Just relax," Pepper said, "I know the perfect place."
Pepper slipped her hand into Tony's and leaned up to give him a kiss, causing Rhodey to groan. "I'm not going to be dragged into one of your dates, am I?"
Still holding onto Pepper's hand, Tony playfully pushed Rhodey to the side as they walked out of the armor. Laughter filled the hallways as the three left the armory behind to finally do something worthwhile.
THE END! This was both very fun and very frustrating to write, but we can all cheer or be sad because it's over! And yes I'm making a giant deal over nothing...oh well...
Fun Fact: I have two different sides to me. Most of the time, I'm a tomboy, but I have really strange days where I'm really girly...I'm sure someone out there can relate ^_^
READ THIS! I know I've said this in a million other stories, but I feel I need to say it again. I have a Pepperony contest going and and technically the due date as passed, BUT! I extended the time one last time because summer is my favorite season and I was sort of let down by the lack of participants...So I wanted to give you guys a second, actually third, chance at this in case it was because you were busy...which I know a lot of you are. I changed the due date to JULY 18, which is about two weeks from now. Sorry if I just wasted your time with that. I just want to have more than one person enter in...
Sorry if I get annoying sometimes...I've got to stop saying sorry, my teacher would be threatening me with her shoes for that...XD
HUGS AND LOVE, SilverPedals! :3
