Gone Missing

Chapter Whatever

Dreams

"Argh, do you know how much flack I get, for talking to you, woman?" A man huffed, giving the woman sitting across from him a glare, "A lot, I mean, like you wouldn't believe, and you're not even the right sister! You're the gay one, and your little girlfriend would kill me if I even touched you."

"I wouldn't call Jeanne, little, she'll break you in two," Brittany said, lightly, sipping her milkshake, "Anyways, this is for a good thing, since you're a member of the Grims, you should be able to help me out."

"Help you out with what?" The man asked, sitting up in his chair, finishing off his coffee, "Please don't tell me you want someone killed, eh, I think we have a rule about helping the enemy-"

"No, but I think someone is trying to set yours and mine group up for a war," Brittany said, taking out her laptop, "I've been looking at some things, someone put a hit on one of El Diablo's people and now the person is dead or missing."

"El Diablo….shit," The man said letting out a puff of air, watching Brittany pull up a video shot, "So, wait, what about us?"

"The style of the hit, it's like yours but it's off," Brittany said, looking over to the man, "No evidence, no sign of anything off, but the only thing left is this video of the victim, getting on a train."

The man looked at the video and then said, looking up, "You're right, this isn't our way, we wouldn't leave this video, let alone the people who were close by to the hit, is that why you came to me before you started snooping around our files?"

"Yeah, I didn't want to be the match to the bomb that's about to go off," Brittany said, looking over to the man, "Alright, Wilson, what can you tell me?"

"It seems to me that you need to be careful, this is a copycat hit," Wilson said, looking over to the woman, "Someone is trying to start things, I'll tell my group about this hit, maybe we can find things out quicker than you can, sweet cheeks."

"Thanks," Brittany said, leaning over to kiss Wilson's cheek, "Tell me what you find out, okay?"

"Hey, you ought to put in a word with that sexy older sister of yours," Wilson said, earning a slap from Brittany, "Hey! She's free game now!"

"Yeah, but she's still in mourning, asshole," Brittany hissed, glaring at her friend, "The thing that she and her husband had, it was real, it was wonderful. It hurt my heart to see her go through something like his death, I'm just glad Madam was there to see her through it."

"The elusive Madam," Wilson said, crossing his arms and leaning back in his seat, "So, is it true that no one has seen her in person before?"

"Well, sort of," Brittany said with a shrug, looking at Wilson, "Only one person has seen her and she's currently not around."

"Alright, honey pot," Wilson said, with a chuckle, leaning over and giving Brittany a hug, "I have to go, be careful, you hear? There are only so many computer geniuses out there like you."

"Alright," Brittany said, as Wilson let go of her and left their table, "See you next Friday for poker?"

"You know it!" Wilson said with a chuckle, before walking out the café.

Brittany leaned back in her seat and looked down at the notes she typed about the crime. So she was right about the hit; it was all a setup, someone was trying to do them all in.

The question was why in the hell was someone trying to destroy the agency?

(~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~)

"Stop your squirming, if you don't stop, I'll use the taser on you and tie you up," A husky voice said in Heidi's ear, making the woman go slack in the arms that were wrapped tightly around her middle, "Good girl, now, I don't want to hurt you, but if you keep going on, poppy, I will."

Heidi let out a sound, looking over to the man holding her. He towered over her, with serious eyes a dark grey color, a hair full black hair that was tied up in a ponytail. He was nothing but muscles, wrapped in olive toned skin. He was dressed in a pair of jeans, a tight white shirt and a black jacket that seemed to strain against his muscles. Oh god, he could break her in two, if he wanted to.

"Please, just let me go," Heidi whispered in fear, trying to will her body from shaking, "I'm just a healer, I have nothing of value for you, I don't even know how to use a gun…"

"So sweet and innocent, someone paid me a fortune to get you," The person said to Heidi, carrying her into a bare concrete room, "Now, sit here for a while, and then I'll be back to come and get you, don't know who wouldn't want to buy you, if I had a couple of bucks laying around, I would buy you."

Heidi wrapped her arms around herself, shuddering as at the smirk the man gave her. When the metal door slammed shut, she let out a sob and curled up in one of the corners of the room. She was terrified out of her mind, she had been out at the grocery store, buying some things for the next week or so. She had been in the frozen aisle, getting some vegetables, when she felt something sharp prick the crook of her elbow and then nothingness. When she woke up, she had found herself in the arms of a strange man, and had begun screaming and kicking, trying to break free. She had gotten another shot for that, and the second time she awoke she was being carried into the room she was in now.

Heidi bit her lip and closed her eyes, what had she done to get into this mess? She didn't know anyone important, she rarely did anything outside of work. She never went on missions and the only people she saw were ones who needed to be healed, why was she a target?

"Now, now, no need to look so glum, princess," A voice said as the metal door opened, "Now, come on out, so we can take you to your owner."

"Please, let me go home, I don't have anything you want!" Heidi said as she got up from the ground, "Please, please, please, I don't want this."

"Well that's not for you to decide," The same man that carried Heidi into the room said, walking over to the trembling woman, "Now, I don't want to put you to sleep again, I like your pretty honey eyes, though I'll have to hide them again now.

Heidi let out a yelp of fear as the man gripped her arm tightly and jerked her out the room and into the hallway. She let out a sound of fear as a black sack was thrown over her head and her arms tied behind her back. She was jerked forward, tripping on her feet as the man led her somewhere else. She would have fallen on her face, if the man hadn't swept her up in his arms and carry her to her fate.

"Please, don't do this, don't you have a heart?" Heidi asked, fearfully.

"I do, princess, don't you worry about my morals," The man chuckled, as he stopped suddenly and placed Heidi down on her feet, "Alright I have your merchandise, what does your boss want with the princess?"

"They have their reasons," a distorted voice said, making Heidi strain to hear, "They want this woman, and have paid you a pretty penny for her, now, hand her over to me."

Heidi felt a hand wrap around her arm and then the man holding her say, "I'm afraid, good sir, the product your boss bought is staying with me, Madam sends her regards."

"Madam?" Heidi asked, shocked, just as she was pushed to the ground, just as the sound of gunshots rang through the air. Heidi let out a scream as more shots rang out and then there was silence.

"Damn it, I hate killing," Heidi heard the man sigh, before a strong hand helped her up to her feet, "Alright, his boss wasn't here, do you want me to take the sack off and let you see the dead body or take you somewhere else so you don't have to see the dead body?"

"You know madam?" Heidi asked softly, earning a chuckle from the man, causing him to lift her up in his arms.

"Know her, well, I'm her employee, one of those hidden agents," The man said, carrying Heidi somewhere else, "Don't worry, princess, I assure you, I'm a good guy."

"Good guys don't give their damsels weird chemical compounds that put them to sleep," Heidi said, earning a loud round of laughter from the man holding her, "What?!"

"I didn't give you the shot the first time round, princess,"The man said, placing Heidi on her feet, "I came in, kick some asses and was going to get in this building until it was time for the transaction to occur. You woke up kicking and screaming, nearly killed us both, and so I had to put you back to sleep. Sorry about that, by the way. I thought the bossman was going to personally show for this transaction, but I guess he might have gotten wind of me, oh well, I'll take you back to the agency."

Heidi let out a breath of air, as the sack was remove from her head. She gave the man a look and asked, "Why in the hell did that man want to buy me?"

"He has his reasons," The man said, looking down at Heidi, "Besides, if I had a chance to swoop in and buy you, I would."

"Oh, how charming, Mister," Heidi said, looking over at the man, with an unimpressed face.

"William, my dear woman," William said, lifting Heidi's hand up and kissing it, "At your service."

"I'm so charmed," Heidi said, rolling her eyes, "Alright, William, get me home."

"Ma'am, yes ma'am!" William said, wrapping an arm around the woman and pulling her close, "Hang on tight, Madam wants to see you before I get you home, I wonder why…."

(~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~)

Heidi let out a sound as a rough tongue ran over her face and a medium sized body plopped down beside her, paws resting on her chest. She pushed the energetic face away from her saying, "Fred, gross, don't kiss me, please!"

Fred let out a bark of happiness and then got up, jumping off Heidi's bed and bounding out the bedroom. Heidi opened her eyes and let out a sigh, looking out the window and at the falling snow. Why did she dream about William? It had been so long since she saw him in her sleep. It hurt her to see him in her dreams, but only to wake up and see that William wasn't here with her.

He wouldn't be with her ever again.

Heidi covered her face up with her hands and let out a weak sob, her body shaking from them. She wanted William back so badly, that it hurt. She wanted her husband back, She didn't want it to be this way. Why did he have to die?

Heidi rolled in the bed and sobbed louder, burying her face in the soft pillows. She had even smelt him in her dreams, so male, so…William. What was she to do without him? Two long years since his death but she found that she was unable to move on.

Heidi was caught in crying that she jumped when her phone went off, setting of Fred, who was laying in the middle of the bedroom floor. Heidi let out a hiccup and wiped her eyes, reaching out to the side table and picking up her phone, answering it quickly, when she saw who it was.

"Madam," Heidi said softly, laying back on the bed and covering her face with a pillow once again, "You needn't call me, I'm fine."

"Humor an old woman, darling Heidi," Madam said her voice soothing Heidi through the phone, "I always have to check on my healer, even more so since she has to deal with thoughts and feelings no one should have to go through."

Heidi closed her eyes and let out a sigh, earning a soft noise from Madam. She let out a soft hiccup and asked, "Is it alright, if I don't say anything at all? Just…hearing your voice, makes me feel a bit better."

"You need only ask me, Darling Heidi," Madam whispered softly, earning a soft sob from Heidi, "Let me tell you about this incompetent trainee that's been recruited, hopeless, my goodness."

Heidi giggled softly but other than that, was silent as Madam told her about her days monitoring the trainee. People didn't know what Madam looked like, she was a mystery, in fact many people assumed that the woman didn't exist. Rumor has it that Madam was in fact a computer program created by her sister, Brittany. There had only been a handful of people to see the real face of Madam.

Heidi was one of them, in fact Madam kept in constant contact with the woman, ever since she became the healer of Madam's agency. Heidi always liked the soothing aura the woman had around her. Madam could always make her feel better, when she was feeling bad or low. She felt closer to Madam than she did her own mother, which had Heidi giggling every time she thought of it.

Heidi jerked her head from under the pillows as the partially opened door swung open and Daisy came trotting in, with Diesel behind her.

"Hey, I made dinner," Diesel said, as Daisy jumped on the bed with Heidi, "Chicken Parmesan, and the chicken's baked not fried, are you happy, madam?"

"Quite, I'll be out in a minute," Heidi said as Daisy curled up beside her, "I'm talking to someone important."

"Who was that, Darling?" Madam asked Heidi, earning a snort from the woman.

"Diesel, he lives here, practically," Heidi said, sitting up in the bed, "He's been a big help, he cooks and chops wood, an-"

"Diesel…" Madam hummed softly, before she, "What an interesting…name, now, I'll hang up now, Darling Heidi, I'll call back soon."

"Okay, keep healthy, Madam," Heidi said, as Madam wished her goodbye and hung up the phone.

Heidi tossed her phone on the bed and then slid out the it, grabbing a sweater and pulling it on her. How long had she been asleep, she remembered feeding Steffy breakfast and when she woke up, she was in her bed, with the sun setting. She had slept the day away, she hoped that Diesel took good care of Steffy, while she slept. She felt good, so Heidi guessed she really needed that long nap.

Heidi ran her fingers through her hair and lifted her nose up in the air as the scent of dinner wafted up to the second floor hallway.

"Diesel, dinner smells great," Heidi said, as she walked down the stairs, "I'm starving, I can't believe I slept all day."

"You've been running yourself ragged," Diesel said, as he dished out plates of pastas, "Come here, let me look at you."

"You sound like my mother," Heidi said as she walked over to Diesel, "Worried about my health…"

Diesel gently grabbed Heidi's chin and moved it around, saying, "You don't look too dead now, and the bags under your eyes don't look prominent. Hey, don't roll your eyes, missy, I'm serious, you need to take care of yourself, you're a doctor, and I know doctors are sometimes forgetful about themselves. As long as I live half a mile down the road, I'll look after you, when you don't have time to do it."

Heidi sighed and said, "Alright, Doctor Diesel, you can take care of me, where's Steffy? Is she alright, in any pain, did she-"

"I fed her already," Diesel said handing Heidi a plate, "Fed, and in bed now, I kick Daisy and Fred out her room and closed the door, she was very tired, because I made her do some physical therapy, I had her try to roll some noodles up with her fork. She's improving, but it's going to take some time."

"I'm happy," Heidi said, as they sat down at the breakfast bar to eat dinner, "Diesel, I don't think I thanked you enough for what you're doing for us, you didn't have to do anything, but you did, you're a good man, Diesel, thank you."

Heidi grabbed Diesel's hand and squeezed it tightly. Diesel gave Heidi a smile and then gently ran his thumb over Heidi's knuckles. Heidi let out a soft noise, trying to ignore the pings of something that ran through her hand, her breathing hitching as Diesel continued to rub her hand.

"This…." Heidi said softly, looking down at her plate, "Looks good, let's eat, right?"

Diesel nodded his head saying, "Yeah, it does look good, I was waiting for you to eat, I fed Steffy, so she could get to bed early, she said it was very tasty."

Diesel and Heidi ate in silence, and not once, did Diesel let her hand go. Heidi didn't know how she felt about that.

"Damn it," Carlos swore, looking at the woman in front of him, "Are you sure? This is all a set up?"

"It is," Brittany said running her hands over her face, "I trust my friend, with my life, and he wouldn't lie to me about something like that, Carlos, someone is trying to bring us all down."

"Why?" Jeanne asked, as she placed dinner on the table, "Why are they trying to destroy us all?"

"I've been looking at a lot of things," Brittany said, grabbing a slice of pizza, "The agency, the agents, the numbers, the books, everything, The agency is worth a clean 5.5 billion dollars, with half of that nothing but pure liquid assets, money, gold, jewels, the works. Madam has built a successful agency , but the problem is she doesn't have a successor, no heir, so…"

"All this money, just sitting here, with no future for it," Carlos said, looking over to Brittany, "So, someone is trying to take the company, or destroy it and steal from it. Did you tell Madam?"

"I did," Brittany said, with a causal shrug, "But she brushed it off, like it wasn't even a threat, I don't know what's going on anymore."

"Any news about Stephanie?" Carlos asked Jeanne and Brittany, earning headshakes from the women.

"We're looking now," Jeanne said, rubbing her face, "Look Carlos, you need to be prepared for the worse, this is going on to almost half a year, it's about time we think about one thing."

Carlos nodded his head and rubbed his hands together, "Call Madam, Jeanne, El Diablo is coming out of retirement, it's time we talk about revenge, while we find Stephanie, I want everyone looked at, Brittany, if you find a hiccup in something, you tell me, El Diablo will take care of the little hiccup."

Jeanne and Brittany looked at one another, before Brittany pulled over her laptop, looking over her search programs. She felt sorry for the poor sod who did what they did to Stephanie. Madam was going to be ecstatic that one of her best agents was coming back to her.

Brittany grabbed her phone as it went off, and answered with a quick, "Yo!"

"Brittany," Her sister's voice came from the receiving end, "I need to talk to you, it's…personal."

Brittany got up from the table and entered the bathroom, saying, "What's wrong, sweetie, do you need me to pop in and help you out?"

"No…it's just…I…I think I'm falling in love," Her sister sighed softly, earning a squawk from Brittany.

"WHAT?!"
