Legolas approached the doors and placed his hand upon the right one. Then he turned back to look at Audrey, "These are my private rooms. It is very unlike myself to allow strangers beyond these doors, but I must admit there is something very peculiar about you that has caused me to commit actions I can not control. Another side effect of your arrival." At that he looked back at the door and seemed to sigh, "It is my hope that you do not take advantage of this information, nor the generosity of my people. I can guarantee you would regret it." With that he pushed open the doors and waltzed in, Audrey followed timidly behind it. His actions and speech threw her off. Hardly was she situated with this new turn of events, and this guy was spouting nonsense that sounded like a Jane Austen novel. What to do what to do?! I wish I just had one thing, one thing that would tell me this isn't actually happening. Sure she was being treated nicely, but things were also very very weird, and getting weirder.
The room itself was full blown fantasy castle style. Huge open space, with raised areas for the bed and other such outlets. Completely open wall to the outside with gently blowing curtains that led to a large looking balcony. Is that a fucking waterfall?
"Is that a fucking waterfall?!" Audrey ended up saying it outloud as well as in her head. Oops. Legolas chuckled, then looked bashful.
"Ah yes...uh, yes it is." He just stared out without looking at her. Audrey then did what she did upon entering a boys room. She began to look around, a little more comfortably than necessary. It was her way of distracting herself from the real situation and also usually brought up some interesting conversations. It wasn't messy at all, but there was a fair few things to look at. Book shelves, weapons, a large desk. The bed looked pristinely made, and if it wasn't for the lived in look of the rest of the room, she would think no one ever slept there. Papers, random books, and trinkets littered the tops of surfaces. One corner had a very fancy looking bar cart, if she could even call it that. The important part was that it looked like wine on top. Bingo. She walked over to it slowly, and picked up an intricate looking wine glass. She turned around, he hadn't moved, but it was obvious he was watching her every step.
"May I have some of this?" She held up the glass to show her intention. He smiled just slightly.
"As long as you pour two." He turned around and clasped his hands behind his back and turned his attention back to the other view. Audrey did indeed pour two, not really knowing or caring what time of day it was, nor the proper amount to give. She had always been generous. She glanced another room that was just as open and spacious that looked like more of a living room. Weird that the bed was in here. She took a few sips of her wine, then topped it up and walked over to Legolas.
"Here ya go." Audrey handed Legolas his wine and he definitely touched her hand. And definitely lingered. My god I am confused and not ready for this. I need to go home. She sighed just slightly. Legolas looked at her sadly and placed his hand on her shoulder.
"I am sorry. I think I am just starting to realize how much truth is in your words. Not that I did not believe you before, but it is becoming more clear to me that you are foreign of land, and possibly, world. You look at things as though you have never seen the like, and speak as...well, not as any I have heard before." He released her after that little speech. Audrey just smiled and whispered a thanks, then took a huge gulp of wine. The wine relaxed her slightly, more than she had felt in days. Now wine, wine was something familiar, so she started in on another familiar subject: smalltalk.
She asked lots of questions, which led to more and more questions. Legolas certainly did not give typical answers. He refrained from asking his own and tried to answer hers as best he could, but he could tell she was often confused or frustrated by his answers. It was particularly hard to explain immortality. In fact he was starting to get rather restless with talking and the subject of his age.
"Audrey-" He tried to intervene in her rant.
"And to think you guys are still practically living in the dark ages around here after living so thousands of years you'd think you'd at least invented...I dunno, running wat-"
"Audrey!" He said louder and placed his hands on her cheeks, trying to catch her eyes. They were warm, he had not cut her off from her drink. Actually ,he realized she might in fact have gotten drunk in the time, how it flew! It was almost dusk now, he could tell. And she still hadn't even had the bath he had promised. Her wine sloshed over her cup as she stopped all movement as she was forced to look at his face.
"Your questions can wait until tomorrow. Bath time." She smiled at that and then looked down to the wine she spilled and attempted to wipe it with her bare foot.
"Okie." she replied, giggling. It was cute, like a child. Because she is a child. Legolas told himself. A lost child. He took her wine glass and placed it on a table and once again lightly took her wrist as he walked towards the other room. He looked down as she felt her other hand pry his off her wrist and then readjust so that they were holding hands instead. "Well, that's a start." Audrey seemingly said to herself. The action checked Legolas's strange possessive side that came out only around Audrey. At least she had not broken the contact altogether.
"Here we are." Legolas said opening another door off the living room which had a very nice looking marble tub worked into the ground, almost like hot tub or pool. "Now you simply pull this lever," which he did as he spoke, "wait a few moments and warm water will fall. Fill the tub to your desire. Here are some soups and such." He said, placing small vials next to the tub from some previously unknown shelf or cabinet. Audrey was starting to feel more drunk than she originally thought and was really looking forward to the warm relaxing bath. What she did spot was another wine set up. Nice.
"I shall bring you something to dry yourself, and some clean clothes to change into." Legolas mentally dusted off his hands feeling proud for successfully caring for another being, when he felt arms around him. Audrey was full on hugging him, head buried in his chest. Before he had a chance to react, she had mumbled a quick thanks and was sitting next to the tub as the water started to fall. Slightly confused, he simply decided to leave her to her devices.
When Audrey heard the door close she heaved a sigh. It was nice to truly have her own space, however fleeting. She could finally relate to some much needed hygienic issues which would hopefully help her wrap her head around the situation a little more, and the fact that they did indeed have running water. This fantasy world has more than meets the eye I guess. But first, more wine.
Outside the door Legolas heaved his own sigh, and then went in search of Malgelir. Perhaps she had something the girl could wear, and perhaps a few other suggestions for taking care of a woman.
