Chapter 7: Baby it's cold outside

Summary : Annabeth broke Percy's heart. The flock just broke Max's. When they get captured and meet up in the school what happens? Percy has wings in this story. Percy/Max Rated T for language.

Disclaimer: No matter how much I wish I was James Patterson, I'm not, so I don't own Maximum Ride. I'M SORRY IF MAX IS OCC! Also, Rick Riordian is my hero, and I love him, (IN A FRIENDLY SENCE!) but I do not own Percy Jackson and the Olympians.

Percy P.O.V.

Ever since Max said, 'Is it bad that I love you?' I have been on cloud nine. Love was not something demigods joke about. We can die at any minute, at the hands of monsters or some evil deity. Another thing we (demigods) think about love is that we have to make the most of it while we have it. And I was certainly determined to do that with Max.

We were now flying side by side lazily, still exchanging soft kisses, but I was scanning the ground for something. I wanted to take her somewhere special for Christmas, since she said she'd never really celebrated it. My mom and I had taken a vacation here, our one real vacation. I didn't remember where we were, but I recognized the scenery, even if from above. I spotted what I was looking for on the ground and told Max to land, yelling in my excitement. She glided down gracefully, looking like an eagle in the wind. I glided down not-so-gracefully, and looked like a drunk chicken. By the time I was on the ground, Max was smiling up at me amused.

"Now, care to tell me why we're on the ground?" She asked raising an eyebrow at me.

"Impatient aren't we?" I answered her question with a question, and when she tried to answer me, I cut her off.

"Just follow me." I grabbed her hand and pulled her toward the colorful building, our suitcases trailing behind us.

There was a long line that we had to wait in, and I got really bored because Max wouldn't talk to me. Girls. Honestly, they were so confusing. (I'm a girl. I'm writing this. Girls, think about how weird and confusing we are to boys.)
When we got up to the cashier, I looked at the woman and took a step nack in surprise.

"Becky?"

Becky was an older daughter of Demeter, mid thirties or so, and was the nicest person. (Not including my mom.) She had left camp after the Titan War, I hadn't seen her since. (Yup. OC. Won't appear in the story again though.)

"Percy! So good to see you! Go on in for free!" She said beaming at me and Max.

"Thanks Becky, I appreciate it. IM me sometime!" She laughed, handing me tickets, and pushing me into the room.

"Will do! Merry Christmas! Treat you girlfriend right!" She called after us laughing. Max and I both blushed.

"Whoa." I felt a tug on my hand, and turned around seeing that Max stopped and was looking around in awe.

"What is this place?" She asked, looking at me in wonder.

"Well, when I was younger, my mom and I drove past this on the way to Montuk, because our usual way was blocked by construction. We passed by here, and I thought it looked cool. A couple years later, when I went to the boarding school a couple blocks from here, I found out that this was a regular hang out spot for kids."

"Mmmkay, but you still haven't told me what this place is."

"A skating rink." Her eyes shined brightly when I told her this.

"Really?"

I just laughed and dragged her over to the booth where you get skates.
We told him our shoe sizes and slid onto a bench near us. I laced up my skates, and stood up, catching my balance. When I heard my name called, I turned and saw Max with her skates laced up, but looking afraid.

"What's a matter?" I asked.

"I... Percy, what if I fall?" She asked this and looked so scared, I had to laugh. She glared at me, putting her hands on her hips.

"What's so funny?" She asked, still glaring at me. I took her hands and pulled her close.

"Do you know how many people here have fallen? It's okay to fall, Birdie. Wings can't solve everything. Besides, I'll be right here to catch you." I saw her take a deep breath and the fierceness returned to her eyes.

"Okay, Surfer Boy. But if you don't catch me, you will be in a hella lot of pain." I lead her out onto the rink, but stuck close to the sides. I led her along slowly, me pulling her, and Max just let her skates glide. After a while, she asked,

"Percy, can I try to take steps?" I thought it was hilarious that she was asking me for advice on something, which Annabeth never did.

"Yeah. Sure."

The most hilarious thing about teaching Max how to skate, was that she took everything literally. When she said steps, she actually meant, steps. She tried to walk like a normal person, but kept slipping and wobbling all over the place. After about five minutes of this, I took pity and helped her.

"Max." I said softly, wincing when her fingernails entered my skin.

"What?" She asked not so softly.

"Try to glide." I demonstrated, and she copied me, still a little wobbly. Soon she was able to actually skate from one place to another. I looked up at one point, and smiled wickedly. When we went around the rink the next time, I grabbed Max's hand and pulled her to a stop.

"What's wrong?" She looked at me, concern in her eyes.

"Look up." She did and laughed.

"Oh kay mister. That was pretty devious." This time I laughed and smiled.

"You forget who you're talking to." I pulled her in for a kiss, and after a minute, pulled back.

"Merry Christmas, Max."

"Merry Christmas, Percy."

"I love you."

"I love you too."

In my opinion, the mistletoe above us seemed to glint smugly.

Hello loving readers! Yes, I am very late. I feel super bitchy, but HW is getting harder, I'm in a play, and that ends at 6:30 every day, then I have 2 hours of goddamn homework. So yup. OH! I saw Catching Fire yesterday! It was amazing! The movie is almost on the same level at the book. I love Jennifer Laurence. She's hilarious. Kay guys, I just wanna say, I love skating. (Roller skating) Inline skates are my fave, but Max and Percy just wear regular skates. I have a buddy who skates like Max does at first. (A.K.A. Can't skate worth a shit.) Kori says bye!
