Seventh Decision
Unbelievable! Impossible! Now way! Haru's head was filled with these causing her to be unable to concentrate on her lesson. She clenched her fists and stared on her blank sheet of paper in front of her. Why? How? What? She was asking herself various questions without coming to an answer for any of them. Why did he want her to be his girlfriend? Why did he just kiss her? How could she just let him take advantage of her like that? What the heck has happened? When she told him it was okay then it is! Wouldn't he be satisfied with just that? Wouldn't he be happy to not have to spend his life with the 'stupid-woman'? Unless he was in love with her it wouldn't make any sense to her. Wait, no! Stop thinking that, Haru. She took a few deep breaths to calm herself down. Now don't make yourself having false hopes again. Don't just jump into that conclusion, heart. "I can't let myself fall like that again." She whispered when she remembered her failed love for Tsuna. It was really painful as much as it felt just empty. That time she felt like she had lived in vain the past few years. She thought she would have lived a normal life when they didn't met. That would have probably been better for both sides. And she thought that she shouldn't be there in first place. She just didn't fit in. When she wouldn't become the wife of the mafia boss and just tagged along because of a crush what was the reason for her to be there anyways. Was there any meaning to it? She is just a plain and ordinary girl after all. She didn't have any special power nor any physical or mental strength to fight. She was weak and useless. Therefore she wanted to leave them. Tsuna and the Vongola. When she was about to remember how she was saved from that depression Takeshi's voice ripped her out of her deep thoughts.
"Fall where in?" The rain guardian who sat beside her asked with curious eyes smiling as cheerful as he always was. He was amused by Haru's different expressions when she was in deep thought but he guessed he should call out to her when he realized she was drifting somewhere far.
"Eh?" Haru shrieked up and looked at him surprised. She hasn't realized at all that she was saying that out loud. She didn't even know what she said and what she thought. How many of what she thought has gotten out of her mouth she wondered.
"Where you shouldn't fall into I asked." He repeated and poked the space between her eyebrows which was narrowed. He chuckled a little at the red shade that came over her face. "If you think too much you'll get bald."
"Oh, eh, did I say that out loud?" She giggled falsely and scratched the side of her cheek in embarrassment as he nodded. The brunette secretly hoped that she hasn't said too much. But she hasn't notice it at all. "You see… it's nothing…" She mumbled and stared at the blank piece of paper in front of her again to avoid his curious glance changing into puppy eyes which made her tell him everything he asked for in the past.
"If there's anything bothering you feel free to tell me I'm your best bud after all." Realizing that the puppy eyes wouldn't work this time he just grinned at her and patted her head.
"This… isn't something I should discuss with you I guess…" She hesitantly answered with a slight smile. "But thank you!"
"Is it something about Hayato?" The rain guardian bluntly asked making the brunette's face stiffen by the shock of his right guess.
"W-well…" She stuttered turning her head away to avert him even more. "How much did I say when I was in thoughts?" She asked wondering what she said to make him think that. Has she said anything about Gokudera when she was in thoughts? If she said all those things out loud then Takeshi might know almost everything by now. Her cheeks began to redden and burned with embarrassment. She didn't want anyone to know yet. It'd be just too awkward for her if everyone knew already. Nobody should know yet that that stupid storm guardian is playing with her in such a manner and she couldn't do anything about it. She wasn't such a weak woman. So embarrassing! "H-hey, tell me… what did I say?"
"Hmm… who knows…" The baseball idiot playfully answered and laughed at her sullen expression when she turned around to watch him make fun of her with eyes that could kill.
"You… Everyone thinks you're so kind and gentle… but you're actually a bully." She pouted and lightly punched his shoulder.
"Sorry, you're just so cute when you're like that. No wonder, Hayato likes to tease you." He chuckled making her even madder.
"W-what?! There you go teasing me again!" She threw a few more punches at him without holding back this time to have him surrendered.
"S-sorry! It really hurts… only a little though."
"Ta-ke-shi!" She almost shouted and was about to attack him with all of her strength.
"Be quiet!" The professor suddenly shouted and they both sat straight on their seats with her mouth shut. As he continued to hold his lesson the two of then slightly smiled at each other for a short while and concentrated on the lesson again.
Haru walked out of the building and stretched her body towards the sun. After all that rain in the morning it's nice to see some sunlight again. The sun always cheered her up. It filled the world with such bright colors that she wished it would be always sunny.
She was about to leave the university ground and stepped out of the gate as some grabbed her wrist and pushed her against the wall of the gate. "Hahi?!" She squealed and opened her eyes which she had closed in the heat of the moment. A very handsome face got close to hers and before she realized it his lips were already touching hers causing her cheeks to flush in a bright red and her heart to skip a beat before she could properly think again. "W-what was that for?!" She asked the silver haired guy who grinned at her mischievously licking his lips.
"Punishment." He answered taking her bag away from her and walked to a direction opposite to her house expecting her to follow. She wondered what that guy had planned but he won't get away with kissing her without her consent.
"Why!?" Haru shouted and followed him. Her cheeks were still hot and that didn't seem to stop anytime soon and her heart was also still restless. But she couldn't let him win this game. Exactly what were they actually playing? She didn't know. But she felt like she didn't want to lose against him.
"Obviously for making me wait!" He frowned and lightly poked her forehead when she caught up to him. She tried to snap away her bag from his hands. Unfortunately he didn't let her and lifted the hand he held the back with above their heads. The sight of her grabbing his shirt and desperately trying to get her bag back amused him so that he couldn't hold back a light chuckling. He couldn't help but think how cute she was. Despite all the jumping and stretching she did she couldn't reach it and finally gave up.
"We didn't make a promise or anything." The brown haired girl pouted and stopped trying to reach that bag. She couldn't get it either way and he'd just make fun of her. Still pouting she continued to walk beside him and asked herself whether he got taller or not. In the past she remembered that she could at least touch him when he took her stuff like that but now it seemed impossible. He was so tall and handsome. Too handsome that it irritated her. So many pretty girls were fawning over her so why should her choose some weird cosplayer like her. It didn't make any sense to her. Though she hoped and thought for a moment that he might like her too. She came back to the conclusion that it was only because of her injury after all and sulked. This is seriously bad. She thought.
"I said 'See ya.'. That should be more than enough." When he realized that she gave up on her bag he put his arm down again.
"There's no way that's enough! No one will understand you if you don't say it." What was he thinking? Of course no one can understand anyone if they don't communicate properly. That is something necessary in human society. So how can she understand that they are supposed to meet when he only said 'See ya.' without time place and occasion? "Geez." Haru sighed. She expected him to retort to that yet he was unexpectedly quiet.
After a few moments in silence he mumbled. "…I see…" In a voice as if he seemed to understand too well was she was meaning.
She sensed that the mood was kinda down and tried to change the topic. "So where are you taking me?" Haru asked in a curious tone.
"You'll see." He finally grinned and raised his pace. "Come on!"
"W-wait a sec. You're walking too fast! Bakadera!" She hurried to catch up to him as they walked alongside the path to a place she yet didn't know.
"Hahi!" Haru was surprised an amazed by the new cake shop where Hayato was taking her. In her eyes the shop seemed to sparkle in every corner. It was decorated with so many cute stuff like hearts and ribbons and flowers in all kinds of pastel colors. "This is so super cute. I love it!" She squealed when the two of them where sitting in the store on fluffy and mint colored chairs. "What should I get?"
"I'm glad you like it." He grinned at her. Sitting in such a cheesy store he really didn't fit in but no one seemed to be bothered by it. On the opposite. Haru felt as if every pair of eyes in the room glanced at their direction staring at the handsome man in front of her. It made her realize once again that he was really popular. Well, he was really good looking so who wouldn't be charmed by that half Italian bad boy. She must admit to herself that she was also quite fond of him. Lately there were times when he was really sweet to her which confused her. His actions can be quite misleading and she couldn't get a clue on what was actually on his mind. Therefore she told herself to not let herself get too much drawn to him. It'd be better. She thought. She didn't want to misunderstand things like in the past again. She didn't want to get hurt and cry all alone.
"What will you get, Gokudera?" She lightly smiled at him shoving her dark thoughts away. She should enjoy this now without thinking much. After all she was in a lovely shop with her beloved cakes.
"I'm just getting a coffee…" His grin has disappeared as he saw that her smile also faded and stared at her intensively wondering what's on her mind.
"I see…" She felt somewhat awkward still wondering about what she should order. Her eyes were set on the menu. She really couldn't guess what he was thinking. She didn't know how to behave. She wanted to try a lot of these cakes but she was quite anxious about how he would think about her. Well, he already knew that she was obsessed with them but still she shouldn't to overdo it otherwise he'd just make fun of her. "Um… I think…"
"Don't hold back." He suddenly said and took away the menu from her hands to take a brief glimpse at it. "There's a lot of stuff that you like right?" She silently nodded and observed him skimming the menu. There were a lot of cakes which she liked and a lot of cakes she didn't knew. She was kinda embarrassed that he saw through her being unable to decide. But he just sighed and proposed. "Just eat anything you want, I am treating you after all." He smiled again and hit her head slightly with the menu.
"You don't have to treat me." Haru said while taking the menu back with which she hit him back on his shoulder. If he were to treat her it would seem like a date. But she won't be illusioned by his misleading acts anymore. "I don't want to owe you a thing."
"I don't have to but I will." He crossed his arms leaning his back against the cute chair and made her giggle. It was no use trying to look cool in that pose when he sat in such a sweet environment. "What are you laughing at?!" He asked in a flustered tone with his cheeks getting redder.
"D-do you have to ask?" The brunette tried to speak in between her laughing. She didn't have to say more. He clearly understood and briefly put on a pouting face.
"Anyways I don't expect anything in return. What kind of boyfriend am I if I would?" He mumbled to change the topic.
"Ehh! S-since when are you my boyfriend?" She was so shocked by his words that she almost jumped up. Did she just hear right? Did he really say that just know? It wasn't her imagination, right? Why would she imagine that anyways?! Well, she liked him after all but… no wait. Stop! Haru racked her brain with those questions in her inner monologue as she grabbed the side of her head. Why did he think he can decide that for himself? A slight sensation of anger suddenly overcame her and she felt her body and especially her cheeks heating up.
But he simply answered. "Today." With such an obstinate confidence like always. That sight of her was so funny that he chuckled with the result of angering her even more.
"And when did I agree to that?!" It took a lot of endurance for her to not shout but she could bear it.
"You haven't yet." His short and indifferent answers didn't contribute to ceasing her anger one bit. She stomped on his feet under the table which was hidden by a long rosy tablecloth. "Ouch!"
"Then why did you decide that for yourself. Without getting my consent?" She also leaned back and crossed her arms in front of her chest looking at him with a deadly glance.
"Because I can." Still he insisted on that pattern. But that was enough for Haru.
"Geez! That side of you really pisses me off, jerk!" She pouted and turned her head.
"Wow, such words from your mouth! I guess I've been good influence for you." He slyly grinned.
"Rather the opposite." She grinned back at him and the two of them started to laugh a bit. Why is it that she can't be angry at him for a longer period of time? It was really vexing. Sometimes he is so mean that she'd wished to be angry at him forever. But it never lasted. Anyways always being angry is also no good. "When you insist so much on treating me I guess I'll get everything." She joked and put the menu away with a grin.
"Fine." The silver haired half Italian bluntly answered and waved at the waitressed who were intensively staring at the table to take his order.
"What?! Really!?" She brusted out. That answer was beyond her expectations. No, she should have expected that. It's Gokudera after all. He is unpredictable. "That was just a joke though."
"Haru… let me be your boyfriend." Unpredictable.
"Eh…"
"May I take your order?" One of those waitresses came after the few of them fought over which one of them should take the order. Haru was relieved she didn't know how to answer. But Gokudera seemed to have expected them to argue a little longer.
"Coffee for me and every cake you have for her." He grunted and didn't even care to take a brief look at her.
"No, no, stop!" Haru quickly glanced at the menu again and decided on three of her favorite cakes. After taking the order the waitress went away with her head hanged and prepared the stuff. Well, his looks were super cool but he is hard to deal with. Haru inwardly giggled and let out a sigh of relief. A happy feeling overcame her as the thought of her being the only one who can deal with him crossed her mind.
"You sure you don't want to eat everything?" He asked with disappointed eyes.
"I don't want to get fat!" Why so disappointed? Did he want to empty his pouch in here or what? Even if she wanted to eat everything she wouldn't be able to. Though it is said that women have a second stomach for desserts. She didn't believe in that. And. "You also wouldn't want me to get fat."
"I wouldn't mind though…" He slyly smiled at her. "That way I don't have to worry that someone might take you away from me."
Haru couldn't say a thing. She was way too perplexed. Who is he?! Was that really Gokudera sitting in front of her? She couldn't believe what she was seeing and hearing. This is ridiculous. How did he turn in such a person? How can he suddenly say those corny lines as if it was nothing? And why did she felt so happy about that? Her cheeks were burning up and flushed in red. Her heart was beating so fast she couldn't calm down. He seemed to sparkle in her eyes. His smile was the most beautiful she ever saw. And his eyes were so gorgeous in that deep shade of emerald. Her heart squeezed so hard she thought she could die each time he looked at her with those mysterious eyes and his gentle smile. It was really no good anymore. Just admit it Haru. Admit it. Miura Haru liked Gokudera Hayato.
