Rin couldn't move. It was like her heart dropped.

I thought I was special…

Her eyes became teary, but she didn't cry. Why would she cry over someone who could never return her feelings and never felt the same way about her? She turned sharply and walked back around the corner to wait on the curb for Neru.

Kaito caught a quick glance of Rin, and he saw the disappointment on her face. He took a step in the direction Rin had left.

"Where are you going?" Miku asked sweetly, clinging onto his arm and giving him a puppy dog look.

"I- uh- I came here with Rin, and I should probably be getting back to her," He smiled and tried to wiggle his way out of her grip.

"Oh, are you two dating?"

"Well, no, but-"

"Then I can come with you, too, right?" Miku knew what was going on, and she knew exactly how to manipulate the situation.

"Um, not this time, but I'll see you soon, okay?"

"Aw, okay," She let go of his arm and gave him a hug, "I hope to see you soon!" Miku turned around, her teal hair brushing against Kaito's body, and she left.

Rin couldn't hold it together anymore. She had heard everything. Even though he would never feel the same way, that just made it hurt even more. The tears began to roll down her cheeks, her sobbing became louder, but she quickly tried to choke back her tears to avoid Kaito, or anyone else for that matter, from hearing you.

Neru's car pulled up right in front of Rin. She rolled down the window and Rin looked up at her with teary eyes from the place she was sitting on the ground. Neru didn't say a word, Rin could explain later, but now, she should just take her home.

"Rin!" Kaito ran around the corner and spotted her as she was about to open the car door.

Rin gave him a quick glance, then turned, opened the car door and sat down. She didn't want to deal with this now.

Kaito felt terrible. He saw Rin's tear-streaked face and he really wished that he could've taken control of the situation earlier. He was confused about his feelings. Did he like Rin or maybe he still had some feelings for Miku? He, too, sat on the curb where Rin was before and held his head in his hands.

"So, what's up?" Neru stopped the car in Rin's driveway and turned around in her seat. Her face was plastered with concern.

There was a long pause of silence. "…Nothing," Rin shuffled her feet on the car's floor.

"That's bullshit. What'd he do?" Neru reached back and patted Rin on the knee, attempting to comfort her. After no response, Neru unbuckled her seatbelt and got out of the car. Rin's door clicked open and Neru was waiting for her out the door. "Come on," She gestured towards herself and took Rin's hand in hers. Rin obediently followed, her head still hanging down.

Rin flopped down next to Neru near Rin's small garden on a small bench. She fidgeted and twiddled her fingers in her lap. She finally spoke after being worn down by Neru's worried gaze.

"It was Miku."

"What'd she do? Did she hurt you? I'll kill her!" Neru stood up in a fit of anger. Rin placed her hands on Neru's arm to calm her down.

"No, I…I just saw her with Kaito when I called you. She was clinging onto him like normal….Do you think Kaito likes her?"

"How could he like her? She's so clingy and pushy. I definitely know he likes you," Neru replied as she poked Rin in the nose.

"But what if he doesn't like me?! What if I'm just annoying?" Rin began to softly cry again. She sniffled a few times before Neru reached over towards her and wiped Rin's nose on her sleeve.

"Listen, you know I'm not big on sharing my feelings, but you are a delicate little flower. Everywhere you go, people smile, because you're so genuine, and kind, and…and perfect! Anyone would be insanely lucky to date you and probably lots of boys, and maybe even girls, dream of dating you! Don't ever lower yourself because you're concerned someone is better than you. You are your own person, there's no way to compare yourself to someone who is so different from you. I truly believe in you all of the time, so never forget it." Neru stared into Rin's big, blue eyes.

Rin started to bawl. She leaned forward and clutched onto Neru's shirt, which Neru responded with a hug back. "Why are you so nice?" Rin was trying to speak between her gasps while she was crying. Rin just wanted to stay in her embrace forever.

Eventually, Rin's sobbing slowed down to just a few tears rolling down her cheeks. "I can't believe…" Rin hugged Neru even tighter.

"Believe what?"

"You wiped my nose on your shirt," Rin smiled as she said this. She looked up at Neru and giggled.

"Hey, anything for my best friend," Neru gave Rin a soft smile. "You wanna head inside?"

Rin shook her head and followed Neru's lead into Rin's house. She was glad Len wasn't home; Rin really didn't want Len to see her looking so awful. Rin figured she'd fix herself back up inside the house.

After half an hour of talking and laughing, the doorbell rang. Rin stood up from the couch to get the door. Her bare feet padded down the wooden hallway and clicked the lock open.

As she swung open the door, she felt a strong force on her body. Soft blue hair tickled her neck.

"I am so sorry," Kaito whispered while tightly hugging Rin. "I'm so sorry for never letting you know how important you are."

Neru walked over towards the door to see what was going on, but backed away smiling when she saw the two hugging.

"I was too embarrassed all this time, but I really like you…I think I love you. I know we're young, but you are the only person I've ever met that made me feel this way,… and I hope you feel the same way, too."

Rin's hands were shaking, but she reached up to embrace Kaito. All she could manage to answer was, "Yes," with an enormous smile covering her face.

Neru walked back into the hallway, "Rin and Kaito sittin' in a tree, K-I-S-S-I-N-G!"

Rin and Kaito pulled apart and glanced at Neru. Rin was a faint shade of pink, but smiled and giggled at Neru's childish manner. As Neru continued to chant and laugh, Kaito leaned in towards Rin. He softly placed a kiss on her cheek and smiled before embracing her in yet, another hug.
