AN: Hey guys! As I promised I haven't given up on this fic yet. I made a few minor changes to the first 9 chapters, nothing life-altering. Chapter 10 did become longer, so make sure to catch up on that.

Originally I had planned to wait with editing these until chapter 11 was finished, but I just wanted to update! But I'm working on it, so keep your eyes open. And if you're new here, welcome!

Disclaimer: I do not own Attack on titan/ Shingeki no kyojin.

Chapter 7

On fridaynight Annie came home troubled. The school planned a field trip to a lake, consisting out of two days. The field trip had been announced months earlier, so the students would have enough time to ask their parents for permission. Originally Annie hadn't planned on going at all, since the place they were staying at only had double rooms. She hadn't felt the need to do anything that required teamwork, which was all the trip was about. However, now she found herself staring at the paper with information about the trip.

They had to fill in their name, the name of their roommate and let their parents sign it. She could easily fake the sign, she had been doing that for several years. But she was probably already too late to ask Mikasa to be her roommate. If she couldn't share a room with her there was no point in going at all.

Annie shook her head, she had to get these kind of thoughts out of her head. Nothing was ever going to happen between them. Sighing she threw the permission slip in the trash can.

Suddenly she heard a buzzing sound. She looked around her room in confusion, until she found the cause of the strange noise. Her cellphone.

"Hello?" she asked hesitantly. Nobody ever called her.

"Hi Annie, it's Mikasa. I was wondering if you wanted to be my roommate for the trip."

"Uh... really?"

"Yes, I mean, why not? You are coming, right?"

"Uh, yes, off course. I was just about to ask you the same."

"Well, then I'll fill in your name and all we have to do is hand it in on monday. I can't believe they announced it all those months ago but waited until a week before the trip to hand out the forms."

"Yeah... that is kinda stupid." but she was grateful none the less.

"Are you free tomorrow?"

"Yeah, why?"

"Would it be ok if I come over tomorrow?"

"Yeah, sure. Ten 'o clock?"

"It's a date." Mikasa hung up.

Did she really just say 'it's a date'? Now she wouldn't be able to sleep, again. What was up with Mikasa this week? First she kissed her, now calling it a date? Annie could feel the hope inside her grow, while her brain kept telling her to forget about it.

"Ah! Damn it, Mikasa! Why did you have to come and be so damn perfect? I really need my sleep!" she growled.

Annie shook her head and started cleaning her room. Mikasa probably wouldn't enter her room, but she wanted it to be clean just in case. She was about to throw away the garbage when she realized the paper was still in there. She quickly fetched the paper out of the bag, sighing in relief. She had almost thrown away her one chance to sleep in the same room as Mikasa.

Once she put the garbage outside she filled in the form and put it away safely in her schoolbag.

When she went to bed that night she set her alarm so she wouldn't get up too late. That proved to be a wise choice, since she hadn't been able to fall asleep until hours past midnight.

The next morning at ten 'o clock the bell rung. Annie rushed to the door and opened to see Mikasa holding a red umbrella. Rain gushed down and found its way into the house during the few seconds the door had been opened.

"The rain really messes up my plans. I had hoped to race a bit with you outside." Mikasa said while taking off her jacket and boots.

"Yeah, this isn't really weather you want to use 3DMG in."

Way sooner than Annie could have planned they ended up in her room. Mikasa looked around, taking in the few changes since she last came here. The room was cleaner, stuffed animals lined up in front of the window, and even more pictures.

"Hey, you put pictures of me on the door."

"... There was no more place on the walls."

Mikasa smiled at her. "That's so sweet."

While Annie wondered exactly what was sweet, Mikasa slowly walked to the window, taking in little details she hadn't seen last time. Mikasa walked up the few stairs to the higher floor in front of the window.

"Why is the floor here higher?" she asked.

Annie sat down next to the window and said "I like to sit here and look outside."

"Hm." Mikasa sat down next to her, and they looked outside together.

"... Why did you ask me to be your roommate? Didn't someone else ask you?" Annie tried

"No, no one asked me." Mikasa placed her head on Annie's shoulder. "Besides, if I have to share I room, I wouldn't want someone other than you."

"Same here." Annie mumbled, hoping Mikasa wouldn't see her blush.

The rain quiet down and stopped.

"So... you still want to race?" Annie asked.

"Sure." Mikasa got up and headed for the door. "You're losing!"

Surprised by her fast action, Annie stumbled to get up and hurried after her friend. Mikasa was already in the basement putting on her gear when Annie arrived. Thanks to years of practice Annie equipped her gear faster than Mikasa and shouted "Last one at the lake has to obey the other's orders at the trip!"

"No fair! We didn't agree on that!" Mikasa shouted in vain as Annie was already out of ear shot.

She cursed under her breath and headed outside as fast as her legs would go. How was she supposed to find a lake she had only been once before? She really didn't want to be Annie's maid for a whole weekend. Who knows what she'd make her do.

She swiftly maneuvered through the trees and soon caught sight of Annie. She followed her, glad she still had a chance on winning.

The lake came within sight and Mikasa sped up. Just before Annie landed on her favorite spot, Mikasa came in from above her, successfully winning the race.

"No way!" Annie yelled in frustration.

To avoid bumping into Mikasa she had altered her course on the last second, and as a result she was now hanging by her two cables in mid-air.

Mikasa laughed as she saw Annie. Too bad they didn't have the camera with them now.

"Shut up!" Annie growled. "This is so not fair!"

"Not fair?" Mikasa asked as she stopped laughing. "How so is betting on first reaching a place I don't even know how to get fair?"

Annie joined Mikasa on the branch. "You got here, didn't you?"

"Only because I was still on time to be able to follow you. Besides, you made this bet without even asking me, so you better keep it."

"Errr..." was all Annie could manage.

Mikasa leaned in and lifted Annie's chin with her finger. "Next weekend, you will obey my every word." she said huskily.

Annie flushed bright red as looked in Mikasa's serious eyes. She swallowed hard, this was going to be one hell of a trip.
