Fi gasped for breath as Netari applied more pressure to the girls neck with her arm.
"I said tell me what you're doing with the Prince! Are you stupid, or do you have some sort of death wish?" Netari growled, her blood red eyes locked onto Fi in a vicious manner. Very slowly, Netari began to slide Fi further up the tree, so that Fi was now suspended above the ground, the only things keeping her up being Netari's arm and the tree, this being an effort to deprive Fi of any air. Ghirahim blinked in shock and rage. Netari was trying to kill Fi! He couldn't allow this to happen!
"Netari! Stop!" Ghirahim yelled as he strode over to the two girls and stood in front of Netari. "She's my new servant, not a... Goddessborn?" Netari simply growled.
"Didn't you see the way she fought back there? Only someone with the magic of a Goddessborn could do something like that!" Ghirahim lay one hand on Netari's arm while speaking calmly but with clear murderous intent.
"If you don't release Fi, I will break your arm, General of The Demon Army." He narrowed his eyes as he stared at the demon girl. Coal black eyes stared with no emotion into red eyes until finally Netari stepped away from the tree, letting Fi go in the process. Ghirahim squatted down next to Fi, to see if she was alright. He lay one hand on her shoulder. The blue haired girl gasped for breath and attempted to shakily stand up, using the same tree that almost resulted in her death mere seconds before as a support.
"M-Miss Netari?..." She looked at the black haired girl who had tried to choke her. The General of the Demon Army just stared at Fi coldly, arms folded and a scowl on her face."I can assure you that I myself am no Goddessborn. But... I do possess magic techniques similar to one." Netari blinked at Fi in curiosity, unfolding her arms and nodding for her to go on. Fi smiled weakly, opened her mouth to continue and promptly collapsed. Both demons rushed over to the girl. Ghirahim hurriedly placed his fingers on Fi's neck, and sighed in relief. She was still alive. But she did have an extremely high temperature. It was hard to tell if she was ill or if she had just fainted from using her magic. Perhaps it was a mixture of both? Fi's face was now flushed red, her mouth opening and closing slightly. If she was speaking, her words were inaudible. Netari bent down to pick up Fi, but was stopped by Ghirahim who was protectively holding the blue haired girl. Netari stood up and looked up at the sky, a faint smile on her lips.
"She certainly seems interesting... Heh... And she's pretty cute too, for a surface dweller~" Ghirahim sighed as Netari tapped her finger against her chin a few times. Netari had always had a perverted side, ever since they had been children. It irked him though that she was being perverted to Fi - and what irked him even more was that he wanted to protect Fi from his childhood friend, someone he should side with more, given their friendship (if you could call it that). Ghirahim shook his head to clear his thoughts before placing his hand on his hip and grinning.
"C'mon Netari, she's just a surface dweller!" Netari turned around to face the Prince, a small grin on her face.
"I know, but she's just so adorable~ Maybe I'll take her for myself, make her my wife or something! Mmm, her lips are just so tempting~" The demoness licked her own lips grinning even more. Ghirahim's eyebrow twitched in annoyance as Netari bent down to tap Fi's nose lightly with a soft 'boop'. Seriously Netari? She was even trying to hit on his servants now? It was bad enough having Netari and Tiro frolicking around and flirting with eachother whenever they met, but now she was trying to hit on Fi too? It must be the fact that she was essentially cheating on Ghirahims brother that annoyed him... It couldn't be that he disliked how she was acting towards Fi because he... Ghirahim looked down at Fi's unconscious face. What Netari said was true, the girls slightly parted lips were tempting, almost inviting the Demon Prince to kiss them...But that would be innapropriate. Besides, the girl had fainted, kissing her would be taking advanta- argh, he couldn't think such things! Ghirahim coughed and looked into the forest to his right to hide his slight blush.
"I don't think my brother would be too happy with that, he appears to have formed a significant attachment to you, Netari." Netari groaned.
"Look Ghirahim, I really do like Tiro, but he's just someone to fool about with, ya know? I'm a soldier, I can't just settle down and marry him. I'd be a laughing stock! They'd never allow a princess to fight!" She huffed. Ghirahim chortled. What she had said was true of course. The mere thought of Netari getting married, having to wear a dress just made him want to laugh! Netari obviously had the same thought as she too started to laugh. Suddenly there was a quiet 'snap'. The two demons carried on laughing, but quickly made eye contact. There was definitely someone or something out there, but they did not want to highlight the fact that they knew this - after all, the element of surprise is key! From the shadows of the forest, all around the two demons and Fi, surface dwellers emerged, some brandishing real swords, shields and armour, others equipped with makeshift weapons in the form of pitchforks and the like. One man, with blonde hair, green eyes and a fairly impressive curling mustache stepped forwards and pointed his sword at Ghirahim.
"Let go of Fi now!" Both demons raised their eyebrows.
"Oh, so you insurgents know this servant girl?" Netari stepped forwards, her red eyes glinting dangerously as she moved towards the blonde man, who began to shake a tiny bit.
"O-Of course we do! She's the shrine maiden! And we won't let you filthy demons defile her any longer!" He raised his sword into the air, causing the rest of the surface dwellers to do the same and begin to cheer. Ghirahim sighed.
"You're all fools... If you make a commotion, you'll just attract more dangerous beasts." He looked up at Netari and sighed again. "I know you're dying to, Netari but you can't kill them all! They clearly know something about Fi..." Netari whirled around to face Ghirahim, her black hair whipped up by a sudden wind to look almost like dark clouds that framed her blood red eyes.
"Her name's Fi then? Heh... I'll make sure to remember that!" She whirled back around to face the mustached man. "Oh and don't worry, your little shrine maiden hasn't been defiled... But if it was up to me... well..." She grinned evilly, placing one hand on the handle of her sword. "See, I think Ghirahims enough of a fool to want to protect that Fi from all things dark and evil, aka me~ So while he runs along to get that girl some help, I guess I'll have to deal with you!" The man started to shake a little more. One of the other surface dwellers, a young boy of about the demons age with light brown hair and scrawny limbs darted to the mans side, clutching a hand axe tightly.
"Wh-who are you anyway? You're just a girl!" Netari blinked for a few seconds before bursting into laughter. Ghirahim sighed internally. If Netari had been considering killing these surface dwellers a few seconds ago, now she was certain.
"Hey Netari!" Ghirahim stood up, holding Fi in a bridal style so that she was carefully supported by his gloved arms. "Remember what I said, don't kill them all, the blood will stink out this place for weeks!" Netari stopped laughing and turned around to pout at Ghirahim.
"Awwwww... Please? They insulted my honor by not knowing who I am!" Ghirahim raised an eyebrow at the raven haired demon. "Fair enough I wear that blasted helmet all the time, but its for protection!" She nodded towards her helmet, which still lay discarded on the ground besides the tree where Fi had collapsed. The surface dwellers all gasped and recoiled in terror.
"That helm... Is the helmet of the leader of the demon forces! The one who can murder 200 innocents in just-" The young boy who had called Netari 'just a girl' was unable to finish his statement, due to the fact he was now without a head. The surface dwellers all stared in horror as the boys body slumped to the floor. Netari giggled and threw the boys head towards the mustached man as she licked the blood from her now drawn blade. The sword was long and black, with faint red runes inscribed along the blade that began to glow as blood red as the demonesses eyes. She turned once again to face Ghirahim.
"You may want to run along now, I don't want that cutie to witness the slaughter of these surface dwellers, it may mean she won't like me~ Besides, it won't look good for either of you to be covered in blood." Ghirahim nodded and made his way towards the edge of the clearing, where he could finally exit the godforsaken forest. A surface dweller attempted to block his path. Ghirahim emitted a 'tsk' of annoyance and simply pushed the surface dweller aside. The miserable wretch could barely move as they were shaking so much. Surface dwellers were all such pathetic creatures. A small voice in his mind pointed out that Fi was a non-pathetic surface dweller. As he looked down at Fi's face, Ghirahim couldn't help but admit that it was true. This girl possessed amazing magic for a surface dweller, and her appearance was also captivating. He smiled at the strong yet fragile girl that lay in his arms as he heard the agonizing screams of the surface dwellers as Netari expertly dismembered them with her blade. Fi was indeed interesting, and the Demon Prince could not wait to find out more about this mysterious blue haired maiden.
*Meanwhile* (What Fi was experiencing while she was unconscious)
Fi's vision went blurry as she crumpled to the ground. The last thing she was aware of before her vision completely faded was the concerned face of Ghirahim just in front of hers. Strange... She hadn't expected Ghirahim to be capable of concern... Something else that confused her about the Demon Prince.
Instead of fading away into a sleep as Fi had expected, she was startled to find that she appeared to be floating in a completely white space. There were no walls, doors, ceilings or floors. All was just a brilliant, blinding white. Even the clothes Fi was wearing in this dream (she couldn't tell if it was a dream or something else) were like the clothes she wore as a shrine maiden, but a bright white. With a small smile, Fi tugged at her annoyingly long skirt. It had been so long since she had worn these clothes, she had almost forgotten what they had looked like. The clothes consisted of a long dress, with long, flaring sleeves, with a large obi sash tied around her waist to hold the other layers of fabric wrapped around her body in place. Her hair was even tied in the same fashion as she had worn it at the shrine - two small plaits made from her fringe that were wrapped around her head and then joined into a high segmented ponytail at the back. Although almost overcome with nostalgia, Fi couldn't help but wonder what in the name of the Goddess was going on.
"Hello? Is there anybody there?..." Fi yelled into the white and simply stared at nothing for a few seconds, until there was a flash of golden light that was even brighter than the room itself. As the light faded, Fi could see the figure of a small girl standing in front of her. With a small cry, Fi realised that it was herself standing there in front of her, but when she was just a young girl. The younger version of Fi smiled.
"I'm sorry to startle you, Fi... Oh, this form may be a tad startling for you wouldn't it!" Younger Fi laughed with the sound of chiming bells as her figure was again surrounded in a golden light, which this time dispersed to reveal a girl around Fi's age, wearing the same clothes as her, but with a golden tint to them all. The girls hair was long, straight and golden, and her eyes were the same as Fi's in regards to colour, but somehow seemed to hold much more knowledge and power. The girl smiled.
"I apologize if I scared you, but I needed to talk to you..." The girl walked towards Fi. "You're a smart girl, so I'm guessing you've probably figured out who I am by now" Fi nodded, with a small smile.
"Indeed I have, but I must wonder... Why do you take this form?" The girl grinned, walking right up to Fi and embracing her tightly.
"In order to make you more comfortable in talking to me... You've been so strong, this is the first time you've entered a dreamlike state deep enough for me to be able to converse with you..." Fi nodded again, but said nothing. "But I'm not here to make idle chitchat. I'm here to show you something." The girl waved her hand, causing a door to appear behind Fi. Then the girl stepped backwards, motioning for Fi to enter the door. Fi moved towards the door, placing her hand on the doorknob, but paused to look back at the girl.
"What will happen when I enter this door?..."
"That depends on you, my dear... You can choose to awaken your true powers, but I have a feeling that you won't do that... After all there's someone close to you who would get hurt if you did that, no?" Fi's face flushed a little as she looked awkwardly at the floor. The girl grinned. "I know you're both scared and attracted to Ghirahim, but you should know... If you make the right decisions, then you'll get the happy ending you deserve."
"Happy endings are just in storybooks... Trust me..." Fi stared at the floor as she muttered those words. "There's too much of a gap between us... He'll only be interested in my power once he learns of it!" Despite her strong resolve, one tear escaped Fi's eye. The girl smiled as the tear dropped off of Fi's cheek and into the endless and blinding white.
"Don't be so mistrusting Fi... Trust me!" The girl winked and pushed Fi forwards, through the door, which had somehow opened, even though Fi knew she did not open it. Fi gasped and looked into the other girls eyes as she began to fall backwards into the space behind the door. The girl grinned as she was enveloped in more golden light. "You'd always trust your beloved Goddess, right, Fi?~ You'll probably wake up now, so be prepared!"
With a small yelp, Fi's eyes opened. As she believed she had been falling, she jerked her head upwards, accidentally smashing it into something. This sudden impact caused Fi to rebound, smashing her head into a pillow which had been laid beneath her head while she was unconscious. Although in some pain, Fi opened her eyes while wincing to see none other but Ghirahim, who had been leaning over her. His eyes were closed in pain, and a red mark could be seen on his forehead. Blinking for a second, Fi suddenly realised what she had done. She'd headbutted Ghirahim!
"I-I'm so sorry!" Fi covered her face with her hands. Ghirahim opened one eye and laughed softly.
"No need to worry, I'm told I have a thick skull! Besides, it didn't hurt THAT much..." He smiled down at Fi, who slowly slid her hands away from her face. Fi sighed in relief. But then she realised how close her and Ghirahim were. She was laying on a cloth bed, in some sort of tent, with the Demon Prince sitting by her side, although he appeared to be leaning right over her, with his face mere inches from Fi's. They both clearly had the same thought, as both the demon and his servant blushed the exact same shade of red simultaneously. Ghirahim sat up straight and coughed, looking in the opposite direction to where Fi lay. Fi simply stared at the ceiling, her blush intensifying as she remembered what had been said to her... Her eyebrow twitched as she took in the fact that she had almost verbally admitted that she was attracted to Ghirahim. How could such a benevolent and powerful figure be so... frustrating?! She sighed and turned to face Ghirahim.
"What happened while I was..." Ghirahim held his hand over Fi's mouth to stop her from speaking. She widened her eyes as Ghirahim shook his head. Did this mean she didn't want to know?...
"Well well, you two sure are cosy!" Netari strode over to Fi's bed and lifted Ghirahims hand away from her face. "You're even cuter awake, ya know~" She winked and blew a kiss towards Fi. Fi immediately felt the need to vomit. Who knew the leader of the Demon Army could be so...grossly perverted...
"Netari, lay off her okay!" Ghirahim sighed and Netari folded her arms.
"Fine... But in return for me not advancing onto this beauty, she'll have to tell me exactly what she meant about her powers!" Fi gulped as she looked into the eyes of the two demons.
How on earth was she supposed to explain it?!
