*Two Years Later - October 15th, 2018*

Blay's cry could be heard through the baby monitor, waking Lyla as she shut it off before Paul could awaken fully. She slipped out of bed, pulling on her thin red satin robe and tying the sash around her expanding waist. The shewolf made her way down the small hallway and into her son's room, scooping up the chocolate haired cub. She pat his back gently, resting his small squirmy body on the changing table.

Once in a fresh diaper, she carried her son to the kitchen, cooing at him sweetly. "Are you hungry? How about mama makes you something?" With his huge jasper colored eyes staring into hers, he began to naw at his fingers; covering them in drool.

Lyla smiled at her son as she pulled a green teething ring from the freezer. She gave it to him as he vigorously chew on it, his legs easily sliding into his high chair. His mother set a few toys on the small table of his high chair, moving back into the kitchen. His curious little eyes followed her form, watching as she began to pull out her skillet and eggs. Oh, eggs! Yummy!

Blay began to babble excitedly, his little teeth working on the frozen toy. "Shh, you'll wake daddy." The baby seemed to understand, quieting down as he began to play with his toys.

Lyla quickly began to cook a skillet full of scrambled eggs, with a second skillet filled with bacon and sausage. Her feet seemed to glide across the floor as she grabbed the loaf of bread, beginning to toast it and dish the eggs and meats. The young mother began to plate her son and mates food, grabbing a handful of grapes to add to Blay's plate.

The shewolf set the plate in front of her son, moving his toys to the kitchen counter; his eggs diced into small pieces along with his sausage and grapes. Her fingers pet his long brown hair, kissing the crown of his head. "I love you, baby boy." With his lips stuffed with bits of egg and a small slice of sausage, he garbled out his words. "Mama! Mama!"

Her grin grew, taking this as his 'I love you, too'. Lyla turned to take a step away from her son to wake her husband, but he seemed to materialized out of thin air, his thick arms wrapping protectively around his wife. "Oh! You scared the hel-heck! Out of me." She smiled timidly between him and her son, as if the boy could understand her near lapse in words.

"Mm, sorry, you both just feel so happy and content." His fingers rubbed tenderly over her growing belly, the little bundle within her womb moving excitedly at his voice and touch. Lyla basked in the warmth of her mate's arms, her hand coming up to wrap around the base of his skull. "She is a daddy's girl, for sure."

Paul hummed his approval, moving away to rub his son's head. "Good morning, little man." Blay's little hands hit his table top loudly, glad that his daddy was awake. "Poppa! Popppp!" Paul laughed as he took his seat next to Blay, his gaze falling to his now dirty dinosaur onsie which was pelleted in food and drool.

"Yeah, you'll need a bath after you're done." Blay bounced a little in his seat, watching his parents sit on either side of him. His little eyes looked at his mother's belly, seeming to notice how large it had become over the last several months.

Lyla began to eat when the little girl within her body began to kick drastically. "Paul, come calm your daughter down. She's killing my kidneys." The man chuckled, moving to sit next to his mate. His left hand rubbed her belly, eating with his right. Blay observed, his little hands reaching out for his mother.

The shewolf couldn't stop a laugh, setting down her fork that held her first, uneaten bite. She cleaned his hands quickly, pulling him into her lap. Paul's hand paused against her belly, watching Blay stare at her moving bump. His little hands pushed into her belly some, feeling the little being kick.

He babbled excitedly, pressing his face to her belly giving it a sloppy kiss. Lyla's eyes glazed a little, looking at Paul who smile was brighter than the sun in that moment. "That's amazing." He spoke quietly, removing his hand as the baby seemed to settle down with her brother talking to her.

Lyla ate quickly before her children could pull her away again. Paul served them both seconds before he looked at the time. "It's almost eight. Do you want me to clean the kitchen or give Blay a bath before my patrol?"

His wife stood, handing off their son to him. "You can bathe your son." She smiled playfully, grabbing the three plates. She kissed her mate quickly, going to the kitchen to begin washing dishes.

Lyla stood in front of the mirror behind her bathroom door, looking over her ceremonial dress. It was long, stopping just above her bare feet, tan in color with streaks of turquoise, red and earth brown. The bust had a layer of fringe made of feathers and beads. Her hair was half up in a bun, a thin stick poking out from the center with several black and white feathers hanging to the right side of her skull; her hair that was down was partially braided.

The shewolf took a small breathe, turning to the side to look at her belly. "Just a little longer, my love." Her hand rubbed over her belly, hearing Paul call for her from the living room.

He stood in tan slacks, fringes on the edges of them and barefooted. Blay was in his arms dressed the same. As Lyla wrapped around the corner, Paul's eyes grew wide. "Wow." She smiled, standing against his side as she pecked his cheek. Blay babbled a little, making the shewolf smile as she peck his cheek as well.

"You both clean up nicely." Paul took a slow breathe, smiling widely. "That's a huge compliment coming from the Indian Princess over here." She giggled, taking his hand. "We have to go, we're going to be late."

Sam stood before the pack of wolves with Paul and his family to his right. Much like Paul, all the wolves attending were in the tan fringe pants with bare chests. Leah stood to the side in a dress similar to Lyla's. The two shared a brief smile as Sam instructed the wolves to apply their 'war' paint.

The wolves began to streak just under each other's eyes with the black paint, Paul applying the paint to Lyla as she held Blay on her right hip. Sam paused, the bonfire burning tall into the near midnight moon.

"Tonight, we honor the Lahote family by welcoming Blay into the pack. Tonight, he is a wolf." Paul's chest swelled with pride, his eyes shining brightly as Sam gestured for the family to step up.

Paul's arm remained around Lyla's side, watching as Paul held the small wooden bowl of paint, streaking the toddler just under his eyes. Blay cooed at his Uncle Sam, his head shaking a little as the paint was smeared across his skin. The alpha smiled, his fingers moving down to his right shoulder, making a circle where his tattoo would one day be, he filled the circle entirely.

"From this moment forward, Blay is one of us, just as we are of him. To be protected, taught, and cherished. Blay, like all children, are the future of the pack." Sam smiled down at his nephew, seeing the boy grinning madly. Sam pressed his hand over the boys heart, speaking quietly to him in Quileute. "May the spirit of the wolf always live within you."

As the ceremony ended, many of the wolves present phased, feeling the spirits dancing among them. A howl began as the moon came out from behind the clouds, Paul in his excitement howled, too, though without phasing. The wolves began to dance and howl around the fire, Lyla's head falling back as she howled as well.

Blay looked around at his family, watching the huge wolves and people howl made him excited, his eyes looking up at the moon as he began to howl with his pack.

Lyla was in between Paul's legs on the floor of the birthing room in Sam's home. Her hair was a mess all around her face, some sticking to her neck and forehead. His fingers were locked with hers as she screamed through a contraction. Her skull fell back to his shoulder, breathing in deep as her contractions were almost right on top of each other.

Leah and Emily were with her, Leah barely showing her newly discovered pregnancy. Leah patted a wet cloth against her burning hot face, Emily pushing Lyla's thin slip up over her knees. "Just a little more Ly. You're so close! I can see her head!" Lyla grunted painfully, shaking her head.

"I don't think I can. Everything hurts so much." Paul's fingers around hers squeezed, catching her attention as his lips pressed against the shell of her ear. "Baby, we're just minutes away from holding our daughter, from giving Blay a baby sister and completing our family. Just a little more baby." He kissed her ear softly, watching as tears leaked passed the corners of her eyes. "Okay, okay. One more push."

Emily nodded her approval, Leah moving to grab a clean towel. Lyla took in a huge breathe, her eyes closing as Paul scooted her up to get ready to push. She let out a sob, feeling as if her hips were breaking as the little squishy bundle came into the world. "You did it!" Leah screamed, her eyes huge as she took the bright pink infant into her arms for just a moment.

Paul cradled his mate tenderly, knowing her entire body was aching. He watched in awe as the tiny bundle was settled into Lyla's shaking arms. Years of praying, of hope, of love, of want, of need to have this child and she was so beautiful, just like Blay.

The little baby had eyes so brown they looked like the color of the wet earth, her black hair was thick and slicked to the side. She cried pitifully, looking up at her parents with her lower lip trembling.

Lyla thought she'd never be able to look away from her newborn, though as she heard Leah leaving to inform the wolves in Sam's living room that the birth went well, a movement caught her eye. Her exhausted gaze looked to the window against the far wall where Becca had given birth to their son.

The sun was spilling in, making the room warm. Within the light stood two silhouettes, a man and woman moved towards them. "Paul." His head moved to where his mate's eyes were, his own eyes exploding in disbelief.

Emily found herself moving away, not quite frightened but feeling as though this wasn't her place at the moment. She left quickly, leaving the door slightly ajar.

The silhouettes kneeled beside the pair, Becca and David smiling warmly at the beautiful child. Lyla cried then, seeing Becca's translucent hand move forward and tenderly stroke the infant's cheek, making the sweet baby coo.

Leah returned with Blay in her arms. Her own eyes filled with awe at what she was witnessing. The boy instantly recognized the spirits, his arms going out to them. David's spirit moved forward, taking him from Leah who from the brief touch was filled with warmth. Their noses touched, Becca wrapping around her boys.

They both kissed their son's head, their forms appearing to melt all around him as they turned into a whirlwind of light. The whirlwind spun Blay playfully causing him to giggle madly, bringing him to Paul. The boy's father took him gently from the warm embrace. The soft wind spun before disappearing back into the rays of light from which they came.

The room was silent for a long moment aside from the babies babbling and cooing at one another. "They're always going to watch over them. Even in death, they're the most selfless people I know." Paul hummed his agreement as Emily returned, gently taking the baby to clean her up.

"So have you decided on her name yet?" Leah gave Lyla a glass of water, cleaning up the area around them quickly.

"Yeah, we have." Paul kissed his mate's head, setting Blay down as he wobbly walked to where his sister was being cleaned up.

"Her name is Dakota Faith Autumn-Lahote."

*The End*

Maybe?

Author's Note:

Hi Guys! I'm sorry I left y'all hanging for so long. To be honest, I ran out of ideas for this story! But as I'm working on another Twi-Fic, I realized this story deserved a great ending. I wrapped it up so if I decide to come back and write about the Autumn-Lahote's again, it'll be pretty easy to pick up where I left. I hope you enjoy this ending as I truly loved finishing it. This piece came organically for the most part, and basically wrote itself.

With Love,

R.
