"This is a bad idea Lestrade" Sherlock stated. The old Hunter pinched the bridge of his nose before he turned back to the half-vampire.

"Sherlock, you don't have a choice in the matter, with John injured you need an assistant, so Andromeda is going to work with you for the week while John recovers" Lestrade replied. Sherlock began to pace the length of Lestrade's small office, stopping dead as Andromeda knocked gently on the door.

"Come on in Andromeda" Lestrade said. Sherlock examined the woman who walked through the door with his usual clinical indifference, ignoring Lestrade's explaining what was going on as he learned everything he could about his 'temporary assistant'.

Short skirt that doesn't match the suit jacket, one black, one navy blue. Either an honest mistake or she got dressed in the dark, the latter indicating she has a partner or boyfriend which she lives with and wanted to avoid waking when she left early. One ring on her right hand, situated on her middle finger, her mother's by the look of the tarnishing around the crystals. Boyfriend then, not partner, lack of wedding or engagement ring

Sherlock's train of thought was halted as Andromeda handed him a case file. Sherlock opened it and flipped through it, seeing Andromeda doing the same with a second copy.

four days later

Sherlock stood in front of the rookie Hunter as she aimed for the golden wolf.

"Don't do that, he's only protecting me" Sherlock told her as she tried to push him out of the way.

"You live with a bloody werewolf, and you're not even a normal Hunter, you're a half vampire! And you live with a couple of psychics next door to you, I should take you all out" Andromeda shouted, close to hysterical. A threatening growl echoed through the alleyway and Sherlock quickly looked to John, who nodded to the two shadows behind the Hunters.

Andromeda turned to see the shadows and they stepped closer, causing her to back into Sherlock as she noticed the glowing eyes that accompanied the growl.

"I wouldn't do that if I were you" the second figure warned as Andrea raised her gun to aim at the shadows. The figure got closer and light illuminated it, proving that it was in fact Eve and Sophia.

"You're all creatures!" she squeaked as she saw Eve's slitted pupils and Sophia's glowing eyes.

"Kind of, now lower the gun" Sherlock said with a small smirk that only the psychics noticed. Andromeda shook her head and dodged around Sherlock to take a shot at the gold wolf limping toward the Hunter, but Sherlock moved quicker than she'd ever seen and the bullet hit him in the side. Andrea shrieked as Sherlock fell to the floor and ran right past the psychics, tucking her gun into her pocket as she ran for her home.

"Sherlock!" Eve shouted, pulling the charm from her neck and kneeling beside the half-vampire sitting on the ground.

"Let's get the pair of you back to Baker Street" Sophia said as she knelt by the limping gold wolf. Eve nodded and helped Sherlock to his feet while Sophia pulled the silver bullet out of John's ribs, allowing it to heal as he walked back to Baker Street behind her.

Eve told Sherlock to lie on the sofa while Sophia ran for the first aid kit she'd put on the coffee table next door, John sitting in his armchair, still a wolf.

"We leave you two for one case and you both end up injured" Eve lectured as she helped the half-vampire turn over to expose the bullet wound.

"Blame Lestrade, he told me to take on that idiot of an assistant" Sherlock complained as Sophia walked back in. Eve moved aside to let Sophia pull the bullet out of Sherlock.

"What the bloody hell was she shooting?" Eve asked as Sophia handed her the large silver bullet, what little was left of it.

"It's a good thing that hit you Sherlock, it would have killed John" Sophia said as she patched Sherlock up. "It's a silver hollowpoint, bloody hard to make or buy, certainly specialist"

"You can tell by the way it mushroomed on impact" Eve muttered to herself as she examined the now clean bullet. "There was no way she was a rookie, not with bullets like this"

"I'll talk to Lestrade about this later, I need to think" Sherlock told them as he got to his feet to make some tea, leaving the psychics examining the bullet they'd pulled out of his side.

"You'll be fine by the way" Sophia shouted to the Hunter in the kitchen.

Sherlock marched into Scotland Yard the next morning followed by John, Eve and Sophia. Most of the Hunters in the office turned to them and stared as they walked straight past and into Lestrade's office, glaring at Andromeda as she tried to grab her gun off Lestrade's table.

"I wouldn't even try" Sophia told her, the gun sliding out of it's holder on her wrist and aimed at the 'rookie'. Andromeda glared at Lestrade as if their appearance proved her point as she stepped away from the desk.

"None of you are human" she stated.

"You aren't a rookie" Eve countered a she grabbed Andromeda's gun. She pulled the bullets out an examined them, handing one over to Sophia.

"You're lying" Andromeda said, her voice low in an attempt to be threatening. The four from Baker Street just rolled their eyes and Lestrade frowned as he turned to Andromeda.

"Your proof is here Lestrade" Eve told him, handing over a couple of bullets from Andromeda's gun. Lestrade turned then over in his hand, his eyes going wide.

"Silver hollowpoint bullets, definitely professionally made, it's easier to see when it hasn't been used" Sophia answered before Lestrade had stopped gaping at Andromeda.

"Wait a minute, when have they been used?" he asked and Eve dropped the two bullets on the desk in the plastic packet.

"I pulled one out of John and one out of Sherlock last night after she turned on them" Sophia almost growled. Lestrade picked up the packet and dropped the bullets into his hand, rolling them over and holding one up to the light.

"It's well known throughout this office that Sherlock is flatmates with a werewolf, John has helped train rookies before. As for Eve and Sophia, they've been helping us for months to solve cases, so they're as well known as John. As for Sherlock, you're the only one to figure out what he is, but as they've shown, you lie as much as he does about who he really is" Lestrade explained as he turned to Andromeda.

"B-b-but they were creatures too! With glowing eyes and everything" Andromeda said as she pointed to Eve and Sophia. The two psychics grinned and lifted their necklaces for Andromeda to see, Sherlock and John frowning when Lestrade started to chuckle.

"Well, it certainly proved that they work" he said as Sherlock's glare silenced his laughter. Sophia handed John her necklace and he flipped it over in his hand, revealing the minuscule runes and spellwork on the back.

"Clever, where'd you get it from?" the werewolf asked, handing it back to Sophia.

"They were sat making them here yesterday with the queen of the labyrinth, they were almost finished when they ran off to give you two a hand" Lestrade answered. Sherlock and John nodded while Andromeda just stared.

"What are we going to do now?" Eve questioned as she looked to Andromeda. The Hunter in question took grabbed her gun off the table and put the bullets back in it.

"I'm going to another office, I was only going to be here for a week anyway" she answered as she went to walk out of Lestrade's office, but Sherlock grabbed her wrist as she tried to turn the handle.

"I warn you now, you will find no mercy from any of us if you try and reveal our secret, do you understand?" Sherlock nearly snarled in her ear. Andromeda nodded and Sherlock released her wrist, so she turned the handle and walked calmly out of Lestrade's office. The eyes of the office's occupants followed her to the elevator, but they all turned back to their work as she vanished behind the silver doors at which point Sherlock turned back to Lestrade.

"I am not taking another assistant again, I told you that one was a bad idea and it's just been proved to you" the Hunter said. With all of his dramatic flair, Sherlock turned and stormed out of the office, his black coat billowing out behind him.
