New Orleans 1870:
Percy found himself on his way to a ball, being thrown by none other than the mikelsons. He knew that they had probably changed since he had been taken from them, but he wanted to blend in with every one else, he went.
When he entered, he was greeted by none other than Elijah. He grinned. If Elijah was here, klaus definitely was, as they had sworn an oath to each other. "Greetings," said the original "are you new to town? I have lived here for quite awhile, but I don't recall ever coming across you."
Percy grinned maliciously, so much so, that Elijah was growing slightly nervous. "Yes, I am rather new to town. I arrived a month ago. I must say, I did not expect to be greeted by the almighty original Elijah during my stay." He watched, extremely amused, as Elijah's face morphed into an expression of shock, and then confusion "do I know you?" He said, still stunned.
Percy mock pouted. But there was so much of the mock in it, that Elijah took it as his sick idea of fun; toying with people. "Years ago, you told me I stood out, yet here we are now, and you don't even recognize the sound of my voice." Elijah looked at the younger mans eyes, and the truth dawned upon him.
"Percy?!"
-Flashback-
-England 1491-
Elijah didn't know why, but he felt the need to go to the town square.
Something inside him was telling him to go, for something of major importance in his life would happen there, so he went. He had been there for 10 minutes, when nothing happened, so he decided that he would wait 5 more, and then leave.
But he needn't wait any longer.
The moment he came to this decision, a young boy caught his eye. The child couldn't have been any older than 13.
He had messy black hair, sharp features, and eyes that seemed to keep changing colors. The boy could have been very handsome, had it not been for his poor health state.
The child was so small and thin, he was nearly a skeleton. He must have been living on the streets, he thought.
"You there" he called, causing the boy to spin around at an incredible speed "what would a child like yourself be doing on the streets on your own?"
The boy glared "I'm 13." He stated boldly "I'm not that young. And my name isn't child, or boy. It's Perseus. But I don't use that name. I go by Percy."
The boy reminded him eerily of Nicklaus; bold, independent, defiant, closed off, someone you wouldn't want as an enemy, and not one to trust easily.
"I've been living on the streets for the past year. My father abandoned me and my sister after I was born, to a mother who cared only for my sister. She didn't give a damn about me. Eventually she married a man who would beat me every night because I was hers from another man. My sister didn't know about it. Last year my father showed up, and told me he wanted me to stay away from her, because she was a bad influence on me. The next day she was banished from our home in Bulgaria. There was nothing left for me there, so I followed her, but I haven't seen a single trace of hers for the past 8 months."
Elijah frowned. Percy was even more like klaus than he had originally thought. Elijah felt something stir in his chest.
Something he hadn't felt for anyone over the years; pity.
"Tell me Percy, how would you like it if you would stay with me and my family for a while. Just until you feel ready to leave. How about it?" The child contemplated for a long while whether he could trust the strange man before him, but eventually agreed. Trying not to look enthusiastic, he shrugged and said "better than being on the streets." But he didn't know just how happy he looked.
-LINE BREAK-
Elijah and Percy arrived at his home not ten minutes later. The second the two stepped through the door, they heard a female voice call "Elijah your finally home. And who may our guest be?" Rebekah stepped into the light, and though her expression was hard, her eyes were uncharacteristically soft.
"This is Perseus" Percy gave a small cough, so he corrected "but he prefers Percy. I found him living alone on the streets, and offered him temporary sanctuary."
"And why," came the voice of the hybrid from the corner "was this young lad living on the streets by himself?" As percy told his story, Elijah saw his brother struggling to hide the emotions that this boy stirred in him. Finally the hybrid smiled "Well then. Supper won't eat itself, now will it?"
-TIME SKIP- 6MONTHS LATER-
After 6 months, 6 long, funny, odd, joyful months had past since they found percy, and he was accepted like family.
He was the youngest brother of the Mikelsons. And Elijah knew that his brother planned to turn him when he grew of age.
Nicklaus was hoping that for their sister, he may be something other than a sibling... None of the originals ever approved of the men Rebekah found, and with the way percy looked now, they might as well arrange the wedding for when he was turned.
For once they all agreed about something; when he grew- Percy would be her perfect match.
But the previous night, the boy disappeared, a single note in his place. It read "I took him to where he blood sucking original monsters won't eat him. And i will make sure he remembers nothing of you. You should have stayed away."
For the next months hey searched for him. Calling out his name, asking people, leaving town. But they couldn't find him.
Elijah had never seen his family happier then the 6 months that percy was with them.
He was truly their family.
And he was lost.
-End of Flashback-
Percy grinned a grin that held no emotion behind it. Only a need for violence and blood.
"And finally he gets it."
Elijah pulled him into a hug "We thought you to be dead." "Technically, I am." Elijah rolled his eyes, as Percy's flickered around the room.
Elijah watched Percy with interest.
The younger vampire was no longer paying him any attention, but rather starring at women's necks. Elijah could practically feel the need to feed roll off of him "are you alright Percy? Have you eaten anything recently?"
But Percy didn't seem to hear. "Is Nick around?" He asked as an afterthought, "I was hoping he would join me for a drink."
Without waiting for an answer, Percy strode off into the crowd before the original could stop him.
Elijah knew one thing; this was not the Percy he knew. And he would find out exactly what was wrong with him.
Percy found the hybrid upstairs, feeding from a woman.
So naturally, he joined him.
But before he could get more then a taste, he was pinned to the wall by his neck.
"Who do you think you are?" Klaus growled. Percy yanked his hands off of him "Have the past 3 centuries dulled your sense of fun, Nicklaus? The British lord I remember would have given anything to be able to feed with me."
He, like his brother, needed only to look him in the eye to understand.
"Well well." He said "after 3 centuries and you remember we called you family once. Did you even bother to search for us Percy?"
He frowned "I was under a spell. Not compulsion."
He said, seeing Klaus's expression "A spell. For as long as I held any human connections to you lot, I wouldn't remember a thing about you other than what I heard. But the connections are part of the humanity I haven't held for the past 6 years. Which is the amount of time it took me to find you. With a few pit stops along the way."
He eyed the injured girl hungrily, before sinking his fangs into her neck. Elijah stepped from his place in the shadows "You've shut off your humanity? Why?"
He dropped the now dead girl to the floor, and starred impassively "My sister Is dead." He turned to Klaus "If you want your questions answered, you need to ask them. Walk with me Nick."
And the two walked off together.
Elijah missed the old Percy. The young, happy, emotionally filled Percy. The one who told him once that he was like a father to him. The warm Percy. The kind one. The one who cared.
And this was not him.
But he would bring him back.
-LINE BREAK-
-Italy, 1870-
Katherine had never before considered turning it off.
But right now, she was pretty desperate.
3 years ago, she had gotten a message from Hestia- Percy was missing. He wasn't in Hades domain. And he wasn't in Gaea's either. He had vanished of the face of the earth.
And it was all her fault.
If she hadn't thought of that ridiculous plan to get rid of Klaus, Percy would still be here.
'But then you would be dead', a part of her would say.
But then percy would be alive. Her baby brother, the boy she had as good as raised, was gone. He was gone forever. And she was going to be alone for that long. The grief was so intense, it brought her to her knees.
She felt a hand on her shoulder, and heard an all to familiar voice say: "Katherine? Katherine Pierce? You should be dead!?"
She had the blond who ruined her brother pinned down. "And you will be, Alexia." She growled. "My final act in my brothers memory will be destroying the bitch who destroyed him."
"Katherine, I swear on the Styx I never wanted to hurt Percy." She chocked out.
Thunder boomed overhead, and nothing else happened, so the brunette let her go.
"Just because I won't kill you, doesn't mean you're forgiven. You broke him! And now he's dead. So there's no apologizing. You will die one day. And you will carry the shame, and the guilt that you broke him, to the grave."
Lexi looked sad, but she held herself together. "He isn't dead, Katherine. I only just remembered a year ago. I saw him when he found that you had supposedly burned in that church. He turned it off, Katerina. He shut out his humanity."
She put her hand to her mouth. The one thing that defined Percy was his humanity. The fact that no matter how inhuman he seemed to many, he was as human as you could get.
"Where did he go, Alexia?" She shook her head "I don't know. I left Stefan Salvatore in Louisiana around that time, and less than a week ago, he contacted me and said that he had seen Percy." She seemed very excited by this, but Lexi changed that. She took out a photo.
"He sent me this. You do know the man to his left, and the one to his right, No?"
Katherine's heart stopped.
Percy was in between two men ,she hoped she would never see again, and he was grinning from ear to ear.
An evil, cruel, blood thirsty smile, that did not belong on her baby brothers face.
To his left was Elijah. He looked cheerful enough.
But what she saw to his right was a horror.
Percy was holding something; a body.
The dead body of a girl. He was supporting it from one side, and on the other- Klaus.
And he had the same look on his face that Percy did.
They had been feeding together. And they were enjoying each others company.
They looked like a family.
Had he simply forgotten her? But then again, he had shut off his humanity. He would no longer care if she were dead or alive.
She would save him.
She had to save him.
"We are going to save him, Alexia. I may not like you, but he still loves you. The two of you will get a happily ever after. No matter what it takes. My brother deserves happiness, and if he finds it in you, than so be it."
Lexi seemed slightly shocked, but gave her a smile and nod of appreciation.
"Let's do this."
-LINE BREAK-
-New Orleans, December 25 1870-
Klaus dropped the girl dead on the floor, and watched as Percy fed on his own, relishing in the taste.
Though he enjoyed feeding with a lad he considered his brother, a Percy without humanity just wasn't the same. Percy was never meant to be this way.
He thought back to their talk, nearly 9 months ago.
-Flashback-
"Come on Nick." Percy said, leading him into a garden, were they ran into Marcel. "Klaus," he said "the mayor..." His gaze rested on Percy. "Who is this?" The hybrid placed his arm around Percy.
"This is Perseus, who is known as Percy. He is my oldest friend, and a member of my family. He has been considered that for 370 years. Percy, this is Marcellus."
He smiled cruelly "The origin is Mars. The roman war god. Greek form Ares, who was known for blood lust. Quite a nice name. It has been nice meeting you Marcel. But nick and I need to have a chat." And he walked away, Klaus behind him.
Marcel didn't like that guy.
He radiated danger in every way.
And he called Klaus Nick.
That meant that Percy was far closer to the hybrid than he was.
And he didn't like that one bit.
"Well?" The hybrid asked. "What did you need to speak to me of?" The son of chaos smiled. "You named him Marcellus. Which means you are aware of the myths of the Greek. Am I correct?"
"12 Olympians, Heroes, monsters. Yes I'm aware." His smile widened. "I am here to tell you. Those myths are real. The gods exist."
The hybrid laughed. "Very funny. What is it? Really." Percy grinned sadistically, as thunder boomed overhead. "That, my friend, is the drama queen known as Zeus. I am a half blood. A demigod."
He shook his head.
He was the most powerful being on he planet. No way would there be someone out there stronger than him.
"That is impossible. You lie."
The emotionless vampire suddenly became still as stone, and lights began to flare across the room, and a ball of white flames burst to life in Percy's hand.
He pinned him to a wall.
"So, you believe that you are the most powerful being on the planet. The hybrid. A supernatural, unbeatable killing machine. Sorry to break it to you." He hesitated "My mistake. Being sorry would imply that I actually care if you or your ridiculous feelings" he said the word with a sneer on his face, a look that didn't suit him. "Are hurt. You really are a buzzkill. Why don't you turn it off? Get rid of all that stupid humanity. Feel nothing. It isn't being careless. It is being happy. Living life at its fullest. And not being restrained by a thing."
He shook his head, and threw Percy off.
"I, unlike you, have a reason to care. A family who care for me. No reason to forget the way I feel for my family."
Percy laughed humorlessly "Are you really that stupid? You dagger them every few centuries, and leave them to rot in a box for how ever long you want, and leave them to adapt to the modernized world on their own. And you believe they still love you?" He growled as Percy laughed.
"Let me tell you my story Nick. And then perhaps we can drink."
So Percy told him everything.
In a dry tone, as if every word was draining him.
Perhaps it was the crowd surrounding them.
Of the talk of his emotions.
Or of his sister.
"You know her. Better than most. Think hard. You chased her for 370 years."
He thought for a moment, before pining him to a wall.
"So you're name is Petrova. Katerina's brother. Tell me, how is the bitch enjoying her grave? Still thinking about me?"
Percy suddenly seemed to regain emotion.
He was glaring at him with pure rage in his eyes, as he brought him to his knees in one swift motion.
Instantly, he returned to his previous state; grinning maliciously, with no humanity. "Clever trick Nick. But she can't care. And I don't either. Now, are you with me, or should I destroy you?"
For once in his life, Klaus could tell if he acted rashly, he would indeed die, so he took Percy's hand, and got to his feet. "I'm with you of course. Family above all Percy. Always and Forever." He said, causing Percy's smile to grow.
-End of Flashback-
9 months.
In 9 months Percy had killed more people than he could in 2 years.
Usually, he would enjoy something like this.
But it wasn't Percy.
The look on his face, the sneer, the way he looked at men as if they were meant to serve him, and women as if they were a snack.
This was not the Perseus Petrova he remembered.
Even after nine months, he still found it hard at times to believe that Percy held any relation to Katerina.
But there were times he was shocked by the fact he never thought of it before.
They had the same smile. The same sort of warmth about them (Percy didn't have it without humanity, but when he was young you couldn't miss it).
The same inner/ outer beauty.
The same charm, and ability to manipulate. The way he twisted his words to serve him.
It was exactly like her.
And that was the reason he had felt drawn to her, for a time.
When ever Katerina was mentioned, Percy would seem to regain humanity for a few seconds, and then would return to his emotionless, murderous self.
And for that reason, Elijah would mention her every time Percy was around.
The reactions were either very amusing, or rather frightening.
Mostly frightening, so he hadn't really done it lately.
Klaus was torn.
He had heard rumors of a tomb under the church where Katerina had burned.
Was it possible she lived?
And it she did, would he kill her?
Would he harm Percy further, by harming her?
Or would he spare her on behalf of a man he saw as a brother?
Percy didn't care what happened to her.
He cared for no one.
But the way he reacted to the sound of her name...
And even if he didn't care... Killing her would remove any chances of saving his humanity.
But then again, He had always been close to Rebekah.
Perhaps she would be enough to restore him.
But worse, what if he regained humanity, just as he had Katerina killed?
Percy would destroy him.
And turn off his humanity again.
But there was another problem to the killing-people-Percy; the city council were getting edgy.
They claimed there were to many deaths, and if it went on, they would massacre the vampires like what had been done in MF.
And half the killings were his doing.
On New Year's Eve, in exactly 6 days, they would hold a meeting to discuss the matter.
Not that he believed that there would be much talking. They would accept his opinion, or perish.
That was what he was known for, and he had a reputation to uphold.
Then again, he probably wouldn't have to do any of the work, as Percy would do it for him.
He would have to worry about Katerina later.
If she was even alive...
-TIME SKIP-
-The Void-
The council was gathered in the throne room; waiting. The fates were due to arrive any minute, so they could return percy to them.
After the longest ten minutes ever, the fates appeared in a blinding flash of light.
But Percy wasn't with them.
