I am so so so so so so sorry. I have become that author that promises to stay on track and then abandons their story for months.

Loki was moodier than usual for several days. He only emerged from his room to eat and didn't make eye contact with me except for the occasional icy glare. Whenever he actually spoke to me he was snappy and demeaning. I counted the hours until he left in the afternoon each day so I could actually relax. The amount of tension in the small apartment was unbearable.

On Friday, about a week and a half after the Thor incident, I decided to paint my toenails. I'd been putting up with Loki's awful attitude so I deserved to pamper myself a bit. After picking out a deep purple polish I put my ipod on shuffle and turned the volume as loud as possible.

I started humming along with the music as I painted my toenails, and my humming soon turned into singing which developed into belting out the songs. Maybe a little off key. Whatever.

I was in the middle of a particularly melodramatic rendition of Bohemian Rhapsody complete with air guitar when I turned around and noticed a figure in the doorway.

"I SEE A LITTLE SILLOUETT- oohhhhh. Um. You're back early." Loki's expression was equal parts annoyance, confusion, and amusement. "I was just... uh... Why are you back early?"

He stared at me for a few moments before speaking. "I returned at the same time I do every afternoon."

I glanced at the clock above my desk. He was right. I lost track of the time somewhere between Adele and Maroon 5. Oops.

"What in all of the nine realms were you listening to?" Loki clearly did not appreciate Queen like I did.

"Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen," I answered sheepishly. I wasn't particularly fond of singing in front of others. Especially when I was trying to sing all the backup vocals and guitar riffs like I had been.

Loki stared at me incredulously. "That hardly seems like a queenly song. Why does your royalty sing? And why would one of your rulers sing something as strange as that?"

"No, Queen isn't..." I laughed and shook my head. "Queen is the name of a band."

"Why would they name themselves that?" He looked only slightly less confused.

"I don't know. Most bands have weird names. Makes them more memorable I guess." Loki looked at me thoughtfully before nodding and leaving my doorway. I flopped onto my bed and stared at the ceiling.

It was only after Loki had retreated to his room and I started to think about the fact that he had caught me singing and dancing like a lunatic that I realized he hadn't seemed as angry as he had been earlier in the day. If anything, he seemed a little more relaxed.

If I had known singing 80s rock way too loud would lessen the tension between us I would have done it much sooner.
