Gilbert didn't actually know any good places where they could go spend their lunch hour, so as soon as he left the conference building he turned to Canada with an expecting look. Canada sighed, as if disappointed, but a small smile made Gilbert realise he was anything but. Instead, Canada grabbed onto Gilbert's arm as soon as they reached a crowd, dragging him to what Gilbert assumed was a good American restaurant.
"Y-you should b-be glad I k-know America's p-place…" Canada whispered in a voice that was so unconfident it made Gilbert want to cry. Surely the nation should have more self-esteem, he was, after all, the second biggest nation in the world.
"You're brothers… right?"
Wanting to hit himself over the head at the look he received from Canada, he took the answer as a 'yes'. A buzz in his pocket also made Gilbert want to hit himself over the head, but for completely different reasons. Plucking Prussia's phone out of his pocket, he smiled slightly apologetically at Canada for a second, before pressing the answer button on the phone.
"Awesome speaking." He mimicked what he'd heard Prussia say before. On the other side of the phone he heard laughter, but then the line went slightly silent.
"Kesesese..." Gilbert had to stop himself from rolling his eyes in public. The feeling that he was trying to stop himself from rolling his own eyes was strange in itself, but the teen simply assumed he had been thrown into a world with many abnormalities so he ignored the feeling. "Guess what the awesome me has to show you when you get back home to your awesome supreme leader?"
Gilbert really didn't want to guess what his nation counterpart was thinking, or had done. Knowing he didn't have a choice though, he tried to put himself into Prussia's thinking pattern - he couldn't speak like himself with Canada standing right beside him...
"Uh... let me think..." He started, walking slowly beside Canada. "You got the awesome me a ninja flying squirrel because that would be awesomely awesome."
Prussia laughed over the other side of the phone, "I don't sound like that. Come on Gil, I am in no way like that."
"You did get me an awesome ninja flying squirrel didn't you?" Gilbert raised his voice so that he sounded excited. Prussia only laughed louder.
"Nein, be serious now Gil - I'm calling you for an awesome reason, so let me speak!" Prussia whined down the phone as Canada led Gilbert into a small café.
"Go for it." Gilbert muttered as he walked Canada walking in front of him. His eyes followed the nation as he walked, and he let out a sigh at how utterly perfect Canada's body seemed.
"Mein awesome self has found West." Prussia laughed through the speakers. His laugh sounded weird to Gilbert, like a 'kesesese', but the human counterpart couldn't find the humour in the laugh.
"What?"
On the other side of the phone Gilbert knew Prussia was rolling his eyes. "I said, the awesome me has found the awesome West! Well... He's not really west... But he's nearly him! Kesesese!"
Gilbert blinked a few times, averting his eyes when Canada turned around. He decided that he didn't exactly want Canada to know he was staring at him from across the room.
"What you're trying to say doesn't fit with Mein awesome logic, please explain more awesomely?!" Gilbert all but hissed down the phone, making sure to smile at Canada who raised an eyebrow at him.
Prussia groaned. "I'm to awesome to say that stupid stuff... Anyway... Let me phrase it in a way you'll understand... I have West's human counterpart here with me."
Gilbert had to stop himself from gasping. Instead, his eyes widened slightly, and he laughed awkwardly despite himself. "What? How did you manage that?!"
"I saw him, then hit him round the head knocking him out. West will be over the moon when he meets him!" Prussia continued to laugh, making Gilbert feel more awkward.
Gilbert let out a string of curses in German that he hoped Canada couldn't translate. With a sour expression on his face Gilbert grit his teeth together as he muttered out how Prussia was 'stupid' and a 'moron for knocking out someone when he's obviously human'.
Prussia only laughed as a response.
"Don't worry about little old human West, Gil. I'll make sure he's not dying of a concussion or anything - Later dude!"
Gilbert growled under his breath, about to speak again when Prussia hung up abruptly. Taking a moment to calm his thoughts, the human counterpart steadily placed the phone back in his pocket, turning back to Canada. Grinning afterwards, he laughed slightly at Canada's worried expression.
"Oh, sorry about that Canada. One of my awesome gamer mates decided to try and rub his high score in my face! So unawesome, but whatever, I'll beat him soon!" He grinned, placing an arm around the nation's shoulders as he walked them over to the cashier.
Canada smiled back, though he looked slightly disgruntled. "S-sure..."
Deciding that he wanted to lighten the mood back up with the two, Gilbert elbowed Canada slightly, laughing falsely like Prussia. "So, why'd you pick this place? Seems roomy!"
Canada smiled once again, as he placed his order with the waitress. Gilbert quickly made his own order, plucking some dollar bills out of his pocket with a smirk. "I'll pay, don't worry over it Canada!"
Across the city, two blonde's got off of a bus. One of them grinned as he elbowed his brother in the stomach, letting out a laugh that echoed across the bus station.
The other blonde let out a strangled laugh, as he elbowed his brother back. "Oh step off it!"
The first boy laughed again, grabbing his brother's arm as he pulled him through the crowd and out of the train station. Both of them dragged suitcases behind them, enthusiasm causing them to have a bounce in their steps. The first boy grinned, pushing his glasses up his nose as he opened his arms wide.
"We made it Mattie - This is it - Washington DC!"
Additional Notes:
And I am back after around three - four weeks! First off, I want to say that I'm super sorry for the delay, but my computer broke. Also I've got five other stories that I need to write at the same time, because I am such an overachieving idiot who starts too many new things before finishing the old.
Thanks to everyone who's followed/favourite-d and reviewed, you're all so awesome! Also a quick question - do you all want to see Matthew/Alfred's side of the story, or just Gilberts? (That surprise with Prussia, were you expecting it?)
Yep, it's a short update. It'll be longer next time, promise.
Until the next update,
Ciao, Mint~
