INTELLIGENCE MEMORANDUM

INITIAL SATELLITE IMAGE RESULTS OF AREA DESIGNATED AS SIERRA FOXTROT.

SUMMARY

As of 0300 hours ZULU time, initial RECONSAT images were recovered over several target areas of AOR(Area of Responsibility)designated for the time being as SIERRA FOXTROT. Images show that heavy fighting is happening across all sectors in the entire AOR as projected. However, some BRAVO sectors show massive signs of another militant force that was not previously accounted for.

Images show that there are what seem to be multiple militant forces established along multiple beachheads previously designated for friendly forces to land and begin operations. The same situation is also apparent at several strategic locations throughout these sectors.

Mobilization Into Primary/Secondary BRAVO sectors.

Because of the massive force projected by these forces, it has been determined that, at this time, a direct offensive action has been deemed too risky. Instead, advanced attack submarines and surface warfare ships, along with carrier aircraft, part of USPACFLT will engage in limited strikes along the designated areas, in order to reduce resistance when the time for the direct offensive has come. Advanced scouts will be tactically inserted into mentioned sectors in order to provide BDA(Battle Damage Assessment), and monitor the situation from the ground. These operatives will be selected from various combat units under special operations commands from each branch. Operatives could be in hostile situations and must act accordingly without compromising mission effectiveness.

Mobilization Into Primary/Secondary ALPHA sectors.

As of now, all ALPHA sectors are being assaulted by unknown forces. These areas are deemed unsafe for combat operations and, at this time, are designated to all forces operating in the entire AOR.

Mission/Mobilization Status

OPERATION: BLACK DAWN has been approved as of 17 June 2283.

Operatives will be selected by 18 June 2283.

The ocean was the lifeblood of many people these Post-War days. Captain Jonathan Alexander observed through the windows of Combat Information Center, sipping his cup of coffee as he watched the early sun sink back under the mountains. The captain sighed as he turned to the captain's chair, sitting on it.

The various petty officers and ensigns went along their way, checking their equipment and looking for any threats that might try to destroy them. So far, there were none.

"XO, what do we go?"

The Executive Officer, Commander Fox, was the second in command of the USS John Paul Jones, and of the finest military officers in the whole fleet.

"Sir, we are currently holding position two hundred miles off the California coast."

"Time?"

Fox checked his watch," 0500 sir, should we start the operation?"

They were the forward unit deployed. The John Paul Jones was the lead unit, the vanguard of the vaulted Enterprise's battle group just thirty miles behind them. They were the ones to start firing, the beginnings of OPERATION BLACK DAWN. The John Paul Jones had been built in 2076 by General Atomics, she was a John Paul Jones class frigate, the first of its kind. Sleek and fast, the frigate were instrumental in anti-submarine warfare and firing cruise missiles at its target. The ship had been preserved when the United States Pacific Fleet took shelter near the Oil Rig, before joining up with Marines and Army personnel that had managed to flee to their base deep in the Pacific.

The United States of America, believe it or not, had not been destroyed by the Lone Wanderer six years ago. That was the Enclave, the remnants of the United States Government. The United States of America had spent the last two hundred years preparing for a grand offensive to take back their old land, and the interference by the Empire of Japan would slow down their plans. They needed to eliminate them as a threat along with the Midwestern Brotherhood of Steel.

"Start it. Launch the Howlers," he ordered.

"Aye sir! All hands, prepare for firing. All batteries, open up!" the Commander ordered. Soon, sleek silver missiles, topped with a warhead that could level a small town, were launched, leaving exhaust trails. These missiles arced into the air, their fuel being burnt up in order to impact on a target over two hundred miles away.

More missiles joined them, rushing towards their targets, pre-designated by operatives and satellite imagery. Orange glows on the horizon gave them indication to their targets being destroyed, and much of the crews cheered. Hundreds of mini-fires were being sprouted everywhere and while Air Force weathermen predicted a heavy storm later that morning, for now, the fires would spread.

"Sir, the Enterprise strike aircraft are being launched. Command wants us to provide anti-aircraft cover if the enemy jets manage to pursue," his XO informed him.

"Very well Commander, tell the gunners they have a green light to fire on everything above two thousand feet."

"Aye, aye sir!"

And then the Captain looked at the orange glows on the horizon, wondering how many people's lives he and his fellow soldiers just ended.

USS Enterprise

Enterprise Battle Group

The USS Enterprise and her large collection of support vessels were in a frenzy of activity. Just five minutes before, Howler missiles at just destroyed several sites, such as anti-aircraft guns, battleships of the Imperial Japanese Navy, and even an old Type-106 class submarine of the old People's Liberation Navy Submarine Force. The Enterprise was a fleet carrier, designed to launch strike and fighter aircraft and lots of them. The Enterprise was designed for fleet actions just like its predecessors.

On the deck of the carrier were multiple fighters, each of them taxing and waiting for the order to launch in order to strike at San Francisco. The F-12 Warhawk was a multi-purpose fighter, designed and manufactured by General Atomics. These Warhawks however, were far more advanced than the ones manufactured before the Great War that had atomized almost 99% of the world's population.

Suddenly, the loudspeaker of the Enterprise blared," Attention on deck, attention on deck! All units, all units, prepare to launch! I repeat, all units, all units prepare for launch!"

Lieutenant Commander Jerry Reeves was the second in command of VF-84, the vaunted Jolly Rogers. The fighter squadron had seen action from World War II to the Sino-American War, famous for their action over Midway, when a Chinese fleet had engaged an American fleet in the largest naval action that saw over a hundred different vessels sunk, most of them Chinese. China's vaunted navy had been destroyed in a later battle, when the U.S submarines and destroyers launched cruise missiles after an EMP attack disabled their communications, missile guidance systems, and anti-ship weaponry.

His F-21 taxied straight onto the catapult launch system. The flight attendant gave him a thumbs up, which he returned. As soon as that happened, the catapult launch system flung his aircraft from the carrier, making him use his jet's engines to rocket towards the predesignated checkpoint.

"Jolly 2, this is Jolly Actual. How you are?" blared the radio, broadcasting his commander's voice. Commander Alex Hunt was the commander of VF-84, and had seen action against the pirates that inhabited the waters around Diego Garcia, before they had been destroyed.

"Jolly Actual, all systems nominal. We have two hundred miles to cover. Where is the rest of the Jollies?" and soon the radio was buzzing with activity, as his fellow pilots made themselves known.

"Jolly 3, checking in."

"Jolly 4, hot and ready to cause some fire!"

"Jolly 5, all systems green and ready to go. And Jolly 3, when are you going to pay me back?"

"Jolly 6, green, mean, and ready to get lean. And Jolly 5, when are you going to pay me back?"

"Alright, settle down ladies. Our brothers on the surface have managed to do some of our work for us. Our targets are the remainder of the surface fleet in the harbor, Alcatraz, and the fighters based in San Francisco International Airport. Jolly 2, you and Jolly 3 are going to be taking the fighters. Jolly 4 and 5, you will be taking the remainder of the surface fleet since you guys got the LRASMs. Jolly 6, you're with me to take Alcatraz. Missile batteries are the top priority. After that, we are bugging out. Understood?" and a chorus of Oooahs followed.

"Alright kiddies, let show these punks how the Americans fight."

American radar surveillance aircraft kept their high altitude position over the Golden Gate Bridge. The E-6A Guardian aircraft, better known as AWACS, were doing their duty. They were monitoring all communications traffic, relaying all information to Admiral Baker, the commander of the Pacific Fleet.

"Sir, I have eyes on three helicopters, most likely VBs. Yeah, they are VBs," reported Sergeant Frederick Wallace. Holding his custom AK-112, fitted with an under barrel grenade launcher and an ACOG scope, he was one of the few people that still used ballistic weaponry. Most of the Special Forces used either Gauss weaponry or laser weaponry, but he liked the AK-112. Reliable and accurate, it had been with him since he was a kid. The Green Beret hit the dirt when another round of missiles smashed straight into the command center of the Midwestern Brotherhood of Steel, an old prison in the middle of an island. Two missile batteries were desperately trying to track the fighters, but they came in for another pass, rounds spitting out of their noses.

The missile batteries were destroyed, paving the way for two new fighters to enter the fray. The fighters were FB-115s, the Black Dragons, releasing cluster bombs that destroyed the ancient prison. Able to survive atomic warfare, city warfare, and artillery bombardment, the Rock was destroyed by the very people who created it.

Orange flashes soon lit up in the morning sky, as the fighters of the Jolly Rodgers continued their mad assault on the city. The Green Beret thanked the Heavens that he was encased in his black armor, his red lenses staring at the target. Another round of missiles soon flew from the racks of the Jolly Rodgers, ending the lives of dozens. While all of this was happening, six tanks from the New California Republic Army charged forward, followed by dozens upon dozens of infantry. The Empire of Japan's remaining bombers, the ones not shot down by the Brotherhood, chugged forward, diving towards targets. In the chaos, the New California Republic was launching their assault, despite the loss of hundreds of men to the American fighters. The harbor was filled with sinking ships, over a dozen battleships, four destroyers, and three cruisers, ended by the cruise missiles and the American fighters.

"Seventy-five percent of the Japanese fleet destroyed. Looks like San Francisco International Airport is done. I got three armored vehicles burning and three fighters burning as well. Looks like the Japanese and the NCR are moving into finish the rest of the Brotherhood. I'm moving towards the extraction point," he said into his radio, before moving quickly. The Jolly Rodgers made one more pass, their cannons splitting apart an NCR tank and three Imperial Val bombers, before heading off towards the distant horizon, having killed hundreds more. The city was on fire, much like it was when the Great War had started and ended.

"Phase One of Operation Black Dawn is complete. Sergeant Wallace, head towards the Big Ben. I repeat, head to the Big Ben," an officer ordered him through his radio and he obeyed. A Scarecrow was waiting to pick him up, two other operatives already aboard.

The V-27 Scarecrow was the most expensive piece of hardware in the United States arsenal. Fast, sleek, and best of all, completely silent, the bird lifted off, before heading east, nothing but dust in its wake.

There was no doubt about it. Despite the fact that both sides had been hammered, the Midwestern Brotherhood of Steel had been hit the worst. Their lines had been broken and their command and control in total ruins. Out of the six thousand men that had been part of Task Force San Francisco, two thousand were dead, one thousand wounded, and the rest in retreat. All of their fancy hardware that they had provided for the Brotherhood had been destroyed by the mystery power.

The Agent looked once more through his field binoculars. The plan to take over the West Coast was in jeopardy. He sighed knowing what would happen next.

The Director would not be pleased.

In the Pacific, on the ruins of an island once known as Fiji, darken outlines of ships exited the harbor, heading for San Diego. Phase II of Operation Black Dawn was about to begin.

I am Back! Here is the new chapter! I have actually wanted to write this chapter for awhile! This is the turning point and you all know why!

Chubs34- WHAT THE HELL DID YOU JUST CALL ME? YOU DISRESPECTING ME FOOL? No I am just kidding. Thank you for your constructive criticism. I will incorporate your suggestions into the next chapter.

Chazzen01-Raul did not join the NCRA, that is a different character. I answered your question indirectly. And the Shi Empire and the NCR are not allies. That is the Empire of Japan and the NCR. More will come from the NCR perspective. And yes, you got the Holy See thing right.

Bronyhood of Steel-thanks! And maybe, but the destruction of the New California Republic is going to take awhile...if they ever do get destroyed.

eaglescorch-Well, I just revealed two new groups. One of them you just met, and the other a more ominous. And thanks for your review. Its good to be back writing for Fallout.

Alright, I'm going. Please read this and tell me what you think!
