Danny broke away from his dad and ran back down the hallway, ignoring the shouts coming from the adults and his sister. Focused on one thing, he saw the thing from the lab coming up the stairs and hesitated, diving out of the way when it shouted in a mechanical voice, "EXTERMINATE!", and running quickly into his room and scrambling under his bed, trying to find the thermos he had kicked under it when his parents had coming bursting in that morning. As he got out, he saw that the pepperpot had followed him and was 'looking' at him as he stood there frozen. Turning intangible, he narrowly missed the shot that it fired at him. Looking down at himself, he was surprised to see that the shot hadn't worked on him. Firing up a blast, he prepared to throw it at the being, when it blew up and behind it, he saw the man who had come with the Doctor, holding a gun out of front of him.
"Are you crazy, kid?!" He shouted, holstering the weapon he had just used and coming forward as Danny turned tangible once more, the blast dissipating in his hands. Grabbing hold of his hand, he pulled Danny to his feet and pushed him out of the door, saying, "There might be more around. We gotta get away before they come."
"Thanks." Danny said, wrenching his arm out of his grip and running beside him. Turning into his parents bedroom, he saw that his parents and sister had already gone up into the Ops Centre, with the Doctor and the two women.
"Dammit!" Jack H. said, turning to Danny as he bit his lip and asked, "You wouldn't happen to know how to get up to the spaceship on the roof, would you?"
"You mean the Ops Centre?" Danny said, walking forwards onto the rug in the centre of the room and standing there, arms crossed, "Yeah. Come here."
Coming forwards, Jack stood awkwardly as Danny shouted up to the ceiling, "TWO TO THE OP CENTRE!" and tried not to swear as a tube literally came out of the ceiling and shot them up into a fridge, Danny scrambling to get out and cough as the smell of his fathers emergency ham hit him. As soon as they emerged, Danny's family were on him and demanding to know why he had run away, whilst the Doctor, Martha, Rose and Jack stood to one side and watched them fuss.
"Danel Fenton, you could have died." Maddie said, holding her youngest by the shoulder and pulling him into a hug, murmering into his ear as he looked down at the ground, "Thank goodness you didnt regenerate though."
"What do you mean by that, mom?" Jazz asked, catching the visitors attention, especially the Timelord convert's, who looked at them in confusion as the mother hugged her son and daughter. Danny's eyes were huge and he was trembling as he thought back to what had tried to kill him fully.
"What was that thing anyway?" Danny asked, looking up at his mother and breaking away from the hug. Maddie sighed and turned to her husband to ask something when,
"It was a Dalek. An alien. From outer space."
Turning to look for the source, they found the Doctor looking at Danny closely and gently. Eyes narrowing, he turned to look at his companions and said, "We need to get that ghost who told us about you."
"What do you want Danny Phantom for?" Jazz said, looking at her brother, who had turned shy again. Their parents were also looking at the Doctor as the Doctor said, "Theres something about that kid that is confusing me."
"Basically, what The Doctors trying to say is, we need to talk to Phantom. And soon." Rose said, looking at the Fentons and seeing that the youngest child had disappeared from view. A door shutting was the only sound that echoed and told them that he had gone into another room in the Ops Centre.
"And why would that be so?" Jack Fenton said, crossing his arms and glaring at the Doctor, not noticing the flash of light that came from behind the door and a chill enter the room. The others never noticed the chill either until a voice spoke up and said, "Yeah, I'd like to know as well. ", startling them all, Jack F. and Maddie grabbing weapons and pointing them at whoever was speaking.
"Who's there?" Maddie demanded, putting two hands onto the gun that she held and glaring in the direction of the voices source, "Show yourself."
"Alright, alright. Just dont shoot. Those things hurt alot." came the same voice as Phantom flickered into view, holding his hands up in surrendor, eyes fearful and trained on the gun pointed straight at him. Straight away, the Doctor saw the tension coming from the ghost and ghost hunters as they stared eachother down. Breathing a sigh of relief as she registered that he meant no harm, Maddie lowered the gun and put the safety back on, reholstering it and smiling apologetically, saying, "Thank goodness, it's only you."
"You're thankful for my appearance." The young ghost stated, lowering his arms and looking confused as she nodded and bit her lip, watching as he touched down and looked around at the people gathered around. Laughing a little, he said, "Well, thats a relief. You guys are usually trying to rip me apart molecule by molecule."
"And for that, we're sorry, Danny" Jack said, coming forward and engulfing him into a hug, whispering into his ear, "It's ok, we know about you."
Gulping, Danny phased out of his fathers grip and looked him in the eye as Jack nodded and smiled along with Maddie, who also hugged him and whispered, "Yes. We've known all along. And it's ok with us, young man. No need to hide anymore."
"Thanks mom." Danny whispered back before phasing out of her grip and clearing his throat, turning to the Doctor and saying loudly, "You are so lucky I was flying by when I heard what you said, Doc."
"How do we know that you're not a Dalek?" The Doctor asked, lifting up his head as the ghost scoffed and said, "I seriously doubt that these Daleks could catch me. You saw Skulker last night, didn't you? He's been trying for a year to get my pelt and he's not quite managed it yet." He ignored Maddie's gasp at this admittion as she heard that a ghost had been after her son as the Doctor came forward with a flashing torch that emitted a high frequency sound that had Danny shouting out and covering his ears, doubling over as he landed with a thump andfell over, Maddie, Jack F. and Jazz running to his side and crouching down, Jazz putting a comforting arm on his shoulder as Maddie shouted for him to stop the examination. Rose snatched the device out of his hand and whacked him over the head as Danny whimpered and looked up, as he sank into Jazz's and Jacks arms.
"I guess sorry isn't going to cut it?" Jack H. asked, looking down at the ghost who looked him in the eyes and winced once more, saying, "What the actual hell was that anyway?"
"The Doctor's Sonic Screwdriver." Martha, who up until now had said nothing, replied, bending down and lifting up his face, checking him over and declaring him clear.
"It was loud." Danny said, getting up off the floor and facing the Doctor once more as he snatched the screwdriver back off Rose and checked the scan results, saying, "I'm sorry, kid. Had to make sure you hadn't been converted. And good news is you're not holding any Dalek DNA, but rather Timelord DNA."
Looking at the gathered family, he saw that they were gathered around them all and looking at him, neutral expressions on their faces. Until the Doctor saw a ring pass over Phantom and change him into the Fentons youngest child as he looked at him, not even flinching when the rings passed over his head. A shimmer passed through the room and for a second, the four travelling companions saw a console room, much like that of the TARDIS. The kids looked around in surprise as the room flickered back to how it had been before.
"Hello Doctor." Maddie Fenton said in fluent Gallifreyan as she and Jack smiled and came forwards, the kids staying behind and looking at their parents.
"You're the family I came to seek?" The Doctor asked in the same language, astonished at the sight before him, "A family actually survived the War?" Nodding, Maddie and Jack smiled wider and laughing, the Doctor ran forwards and engulfed them into a hug, Maddie holding out her arms for Danny and Jazz to come and join in as the Doctor realised that he hadn't been alone all along, but rather, a family had been hiding from the Daleks all along, on Earth and in the most haunted city in America. A family of his own people had been living in Amity Park.
He wasn't alone after all.
And I think that this is a good place to leave it. I was even smiling while I was writing it. Listen to The day of the Doctor soundtrack when you're at the end of this. It's sad then happy and EPIC!
Anyway, there'll be some talking in the next chapter. Hope you liked it. :D
Till next time then guys.
