"Samantha, you're sure you want to do this." They were 2 feet away from the observational room. Sam shook her head. Beckett looked at Castle and then at Sam. She took a deep breath and opened the door and let them in first. Before she can go in herself Espo grabbed her by the arm.

"Are you sure you should be doing this?"

Beckett looked straight into his eyes "I know the pain she's feeling. To know who did it matters. I have to."

Epso still kept the questionable face "Just be careful."

Beckett smiles and walked in. She stepped forward and flipped the switch to turn the two way mirror on.

In that moment Sam's heart sank. She gripped the side of her pants. She felt a knot in her throat. Her face grew red with range as if a boiling pot were inside her. Suddenly she stepped forward to bang on the glass then all of a sudden Beckett caught her hand.

"Don't. You'll startle him and he'll know that you are in here. I understand the rage but this is not the way to do it. The rage of what you feel for him, the person that took away your world I understand, but now you know who is it and there is a little peice. But now this part is my job. I promise you. There will be justice and everything will be ok. Take her out Castle."

He reached for her hand and guided her out. Beckett joined Espo and Ryan in the box to interrogate the suspect.

"I didn't mean to get angry." Sam looked down at her hand. She lifted her legs and crossed them on the break room couch. Castle touched her shoulder "I know sweetie. We all do things spur of the moment but Detective Beckett is the best in the city, trust me and she will find justice."

Sam looked up and smiled "I do."

The door swung open and Detective Beckett walked in. "He's not saying anything. We're going to have to check the office to see if there's anything in your Mom's notes. We'll head over to your apartment with CSU to look around and then you can get more stuff and then we can go to my place again… if that's ok with you. Sam nodded her head. Beckett reached out her hand "Ok lets go."

Beckett walked back and forth flipping through a book. She shook her head and let out a little smile. "You're mom was brilliant. She coded all of her notes so no one can read them." She whispered "Just like my Mom." Castle looked up at smiled at her. Sam walked over and looked at the book. "'I'm sorry but I don't know what it means. I was rarely involved with her cases. I would ask but she just always said that it didn't matter because she was home and everything was ok." Beckett closed the book and handed it to a uniform. "I'll have CSU finishe sweep this place and have them try to ecript the code with anything in the system… including my own notes. If you finish pack your bag we can go."

"Detective Beckett, do you think I can go to school tomorrow." Beckett smiled "I'm sorry but it's not safe for you to go out alone. We don't know why your Mom was targeted and if you're next. You're not safe out there."

Sam looked down and nodded. Becketts heart broke a little "I'm really sorry. Let's go."

Beckett dropped her bags on the floor and hung her coat. Sam put her bag into the guest bedroom. "Sam?" Beckett pulled out a bunch of take out menu's. "There's thai, chinese, mexican, sushi, italian". Sam looked down "I'm not hungry." "Sam look at me. I didn't mean to be hard on you earlier. I'm just trying to do my job. You're safe here. But you have to eat Sam, please. Oh I know, no one can resist pizza from" and in that moment they both said "Nicks." Their eyes finally met and giggled. "Ok good. What kind?" Sam thought about it "What do you like."

"Me, ohhh well you can get anything you want. I want to make sure you eat."

"Detective-"

"Ah Ah what did I say?"

Sam smiled "Kate. On the count of three we say what we want. Ok?"

Beckett nodded. They both counted down "3….2….1….vegetarian." They both giggled again.

"I guess I know what to get."

"...And Castle was so invested in this theory that I loosened the screw on his chair and when he went to sit down I let gravity do its magic." They both laughed. They has been sitting there for a while. On the floor just eating and talking. Beckett hadn't seem Sam smile and laugh since she met her. Beckett herself never felt this way herself. Beckett sat up "Sam I have one last thing to tell you before you should go to bed. My mother died when I was a year or two older than you. She was killed. I thought it was a random stabbing but it wasn't. We found the killer but there's a lot that's still left unsolved and people that still need to pay for their actions. I live with this everyday. For year and years. I'm telling you this because I know what you're going through. Everytime I cross that yellow tape I think of that day and when I saw you, it was like I was looking at myself. I will do everything in my power to make sure you and your mother gets justice and that you are safe. That is my promise and my oath." Beckett reached out and held Sam's hand.

"Thank you Kate. I'm sorry about your mom."

Beckett smiled "Thank you. Not off to bed kiddo. I'll clean up Goodnight Sam."

Sam stood up. "Goodnight Kate. And all it's worth, I do feel safe with you. And I'm thankful that I am with you. I wouldn't want to be anywhere else right now. Thank you for letting me stay with you."

In that moment Beckett heart swelled like it never did before. "Always."

Sam walked into the bedroom and shut the door. Beckett got up and started to clean up. Suddenly there was a knock at the door. Beckett set down the pizza box on the counter, licked her fingers and opened the door. "Lanie?!"

"Hey girl, I just wanted to see if you were ok. I heard Sam is sleeping with you again."

"Yeah, umm she's in the bedroom. You know you didn't have to come over here. Have a seat. You want some pizza, wine?"

"I'll have some if you will."

Beckett smiled and grabbed two glasses. Sam heard the glasses from the kitchen and got out of bed. She heard the voices and tippy toed toward the door. The opened the door a bit so she can hear what they were saying.

Lanie sat on the bar stool and took a bit of some pizza. "Kate we've been friends for how long. I know this is something new and you have a lot of things going on in your head. Now spill."

"But Lanie.."

"Don't but Lanie me. I know. I can see the fear on your face."

Beckett took a breath and a sip of wine. "It's not fear. Just...when I look at her I see myself. I don't want to mess this up. I need to solve this and make sure she's safe and…"

"Kate, Kate, Kate. You are the best detective that I know, hell in the entire city. You will solve this murder and keep her safe. Speaking of Sam, do you know what's going to happen to her. You can't keep her forever."

Beckett took another sip of wine. "In a day or two she's going to be put into the system. She's a minor so she's go to a home or a family for a couple year then…" Beckett took another sip of wine.

"By the amount of wine you're guzzling down I'm assuming that you don't want that."

Beckett looked up. "You want to keep her?"

"Ok can we stop staying keep please." Lanie's eyes opened even wider "You want to adopt her."

"Lanie, when I look at her I see myself. At least I had my dad, she has no one. Even though I had my dad I still went sour for a while. When I look at her, or when she looks at me or when she laughs, I don't know Lanie, I feel something. Like I want to hold her hand and not let go. I know I just got things started with Castle but I don't know Lanie."

Lanie opened her mouth to say something but yet again got cut off. "I know my job is dangerous and busy and I am basically married to my job but this case, I feel is giving me a new purpose to do my job. We like the same pizza."

Lanie laughed "You're going to judge and decide everything by the fact that you both like the same pizza.

Beckett smiled, "All I know is I don't want her to go with anyone else and and if that means me adopting her then so be it."
