Chapter 7: Secrets Revealed

Alrighty, well this one I just scrapped. I think this was one of the most god awful things to ever come from my fingertips. Of course back then I used to write out by hand all my chapters and then type them up- which also explains the lack of length in all my previous chapters. Anywho, here is the new, improved chapter 7. Thanks all!

Well the day went on uneventfully until of course the last period. I'd had the study of Anatomy and Physiology- I'm a science nerd, so what? Of course I'd shared that class with Caleb, and Sarah so I'd quickly squeezed in next to them.

"Hey Kayla." Sarah greeted with her typical shinning white smile. Guess that's a perk to being a dentists daughter.

"Hey." I responded appropriately as I slid my books and such out. Caleb just nodded in my direction. I could tell something was off with him since the first class of the day, but he hadn't come out and said anything.

"So, what's with you and Reid? You like him, huh?" Sarah asked just coming out with what was on he mind.

"Uhm…" I paused my books slipping from my fingers and slamming on the desk causing eyes from the other students to turn up in our direction. "I- I'm not sure." I said trying to sound casual but the tremor in my voice gave everything away. My eyes flicked over to Caleb who looked on mildly interested before turning to look back at his books, mutely.

"Oh. Caleb wouldn't say anything, huh? Especially if he knows what's good for him." She said with a nudge to the elbow he was leaning on. He sent me a smile, but that was all I got from Captain cool.

"Do you treat all knew students with the same icy demeanor, or is it just me?" I asked leaning over Sarah feeling fed up with his looks. He chuckled with a half-smile shaking his head.

"You and Reid make a good match- you both have the same bullheadedness about you."

"Caleb!" Sarah gasped shocked as she reacted smacking his arm. I scoffed shaking my head. I wasn't sure where this attitude was coming from suddenly, he'd been so nice the entire night before at Nicky's.

"What? It's not necessarily a bad thing." He explained waving Sarah off. She turned to face me her hard expression softening, "I'm sorry, Kayla. I really don't know what's gotten into Caleb. He- he is never normally like thi-."

I heard a sigh as Caleb looked to me cutting Sarah off, "I'm sorry-. I just… I'm not a huge fan of your boyfriend at the moment." He apologized.

"O-oh, well. We're not-. I mean-." I began to stutter feeling my face heat up for the second time that day. "We aren't like- dating or anything." I explained with a waving off their looks. I quickly thanked the lords of whatever that the teacher had picked hat time to call for the class attention.

After a long explanation on the seven different layers of skin, and the harmful things wo do to it as well as it's regeneration time. I was ready to hop out and shower for the next hour scrubbing until a new layer was brought to the surface. I stood as I began stuffing things in my bag.

"We'll catch you later…?" I heard Sarah ask. At my nod she smiled and walked off with Caleb who'd mumbled some form of goodbye.

I slid the bag up higher on my shoulder before I felt it tugged out of my hands, "Hey!" I cried as I spun only to be faced with Reid. "What? Worried I was gonna make off with your anatomy notes?" He laughed. I crossed my arms pouting at him as I followed him to the door.

"Oh hey Ty." Reid greeted as we emerged. Tyler seemed have been walking out from the class across the hall.

"You-. You uh talk to Caleb?" Tyler asked. I could feel Reid's demeanor change as his face clouded over into an angry expression.

"Yeah." Was all Reid answered as he kept walking now.

"Did you tell uh-." He questioned again leaving my confusion only to increase. As I kept up the pace with Reid.

"No." Reid said with an eye roll. "Not yet, it's not like I've had a ton of time. So please leave it alone." He'd finished. Tyler held his hands up in a defensive gesture as his pace slowed giving Reid the space he seemed to want.

"What in the world was that about?" I asked after we'd reached the end of the hall and pushed the oversized entrance doors open.

"Nothing for you to worry your pretty little head about, Red hot." He explained wearing a grin at his cleaver little nickname.

"Seriously? Your gonna call me a flavor of gum?" I asked slowing as we walked down the stone steps.

"Hey, if the boot fits." He shrugged turning to face me. I rolled my eyes following him as we walked towards the dorms. "So, you-uh. Wanna head to Nicky's tonight, I hear there's this really hot chick going. She places bets at the pool table, and plays like one of the guys." Reid asked holding the door as we headed up the stairs.

"Oooh." I said hissing, "I think my schedules full, there's this annoying blonde that just seems to take up most of my time." I replied grinning.

"Oh yeah?" Reid asked his eyes glancing to me, "You think about him a lot?" He finished as we'd made it up the second flight. I laughed aloud at that.

"I guess you'll never know." I shrugged, as we finished up the third set and I moved to push the door open only to feel hands on my hips.

"I think you do." He said his mouth at my ear. I stilled feeling my heart quicken in my chest. I moved my hands so that they were over his. I couldn't tell if it were to keep his hands on me, or to remove them. They rested there for a moment none the less.

"And, what would give you that idea?" I asked as I spun around to face him moving to the wall in the corridor where he'd taken full advantage of our position and had me between him and the wall. "I've seen the way you stare at me." He began. "I also know that if you were feeling anything like I am, then you aren't able to get me out of your head just as I can't with you." His voice had gone lower the more he leaned to me.

"Reid…" I trailed off his closeness affecting me the way it had before.

"Yess…?" He trailed off dragging out the word purposely as his brought his face in closer to mine. My arms reached around his neck and pulled his lips to mine for a searing kiss that should be done in a private area- luckily like this one. I moaned into the kiss my hands sliding up into his hair at the nape of his neck. He slid his arms around my waist pulling my body tighter to his.

Our tongues battled for dominance in a fight- which I lost willingly too. "Mmmph." I made a noise as I yanked the backpacks off his shoulder and dropped both to the floor with a noise that both of us ignored.

I could feel my body temperature rising. My surroundings blurred and he became my sole focus, he pushed me right up against the wall behind me as his kiss deepened. He moaned against my mouth as my hands slid down to the front of his chest over the button up the school supplied as a standard uniform.

Our mouths never separated as Reid's hands slid down my body from my waist to my thigh pulling it up around his hips. I groaned having to pull away before I died of suffocation from making out. His mouth just slid down to my neck as he pressed his body into mine. One of my arms around to his back, as the other gripped his blonde locks tightly.

"R-Reid." I gasped It were as if a curtain was lifted as I opened my eyes to a chuckling pair of girls. They were definitely younger than us. Freshmen's probably at their giggling of the sight before them. Reid backed up slowly being sure to release my leg first. He leaned down and snatched up the bags from the floor. "Ladies." Reid greeted with an eyebrow raise, 'causing yet another fit of giggles. I rolled my eyes as he grabbed my hand and pulled me through the door to the corridor of dorms.

We'd made it to mine keeping our hands to each other all the way there. "I- uh. I need to talk to you." Reid said as I unlocked my door. Looking to him I shrugged with an, "Okay." As I pushed it open and invited him in. He dropped the bags by the door and moved to sit at my desk- which I found to be odd considering he just seems to gravitate towards my bed.

"What's up?" I asked sitting across from him t the edge of my bed.

"Well… it's the guys. They kinda know about you." I froze at that my eyebrows shooting up taking a deep breath in. "I had to. They felt it when I used with you that night, so they knew I'd used on you, or in front of you." He explained quickly as though I were about to get made. I remained silent my head going over the day and figuring out now why Caleb had been so standoff-ish all day.

"You okay?" Reid asked.

I just blinked in response not sure how to feel. I'd known I'd had to let them all in on my secret somehow. Originally I'd figured that'd be the only way to get them to trust me. Example A being when I'd told him the other night.

"They just wanna talk to you." He clarified. "I explained that we weren't sure where you power even came from. Pogue, and Tyler they want to help."

"But, not Caleb." I said filling in the blanks he'd left.

"Well… a few months back at the beginning of the year we'd had an- an incident with trusting someone outside of our circle, so he's kind of still really wary now." Reid explained. I just nodded in response somewhat understanding the lack of a warm welcome on his part. "Alright, we'll talk more. I figured, you're probably wanna shower and change first." Reid said standing up.

"Shower?" I asked furrowing my brow. "First?" I asked again feeling confused.

"Uhh… yeah, Nicky's." Reid reminded me.

"Oh. Again? Really?" I asked. "I thought you were kidding earlier." I responded with a chuckle.

"No Red." He answered as he leaned down and kissed me quickly heading to the door. "I'll grab you at 6, Alright? I've got some business to attend to." He finished as he closed the door behind him. I sighed lying back on my bed.

Getting out of the hummer we saw Kate, Sarah, Pouge and Caleb. "Reid, we need to talk to you." Caleb said as the three of us got closer to them. Reid nodded with a glance to me as he jerked his head towards the bar. I suddenly felt nervous.

Kate, Sarah, and I walked into Nicky's, got a table and sat down. "So Kayla," started Kate. I jumped but looked up at her as Sarah asked "like anyone so far?" with a knowing smirk. I shook my head thinking instantly of Reid and that kiss in the stairwell meaning yes.

"Oh, c'mon, you have to at least consider someone." Kate said stressing the word someone.

"Nope." I said calmly.

"C'mon Kayla, you can trust us." Sarah said

"Alright, alright, but I'm not even sure I like him yet, I mean I don't really know him that well…" I started. The girls leaned closer to me.

"I like…" I said slowly. My eyes shifted around the room as if it was a huge secret. "Nicky." I stated then laughing hysterically.

They looked all but amused. This made me laugh harder. Once I calmed down and took a sip of my drink. Kate started in about it first, "No, I know who you think is hot, and its NOT Nicky." She said with a small all knowing smile.

"Oh, and who do you think this hot guy is?" I asked bringing my drink up to my mouth.

"Reid Garwin." She and Sarah said.

Two things happened at that exact moment. First I choked on my drink and looked up at them as an all too familiar voice asked "what?" Sure enough Reid had come over.

I covered it up with a confused expression. "What makes you think that?" I asked.

They looked around at the guys, unsure weather I wanted to continue this conversation in front of them so I asked the question again.

"I mean you were totally checking him out the night you met him, even he could've seen it." Sarah started.

"Yeah, but he didn't because he was to busy checking you out." Kate finished.

"What? I wasn't checking him ou-" I started in outrage.

"Yes, you were, now shut-up and listen." Kate said. I spared a glance at Reid who was looking at me with the hottest. 'Oh really.' kind of smirk.

"Oh, shut-up!" I said getting up and buying another soda.

"Just admit it." I heard behind me as I leaned against the counter. I turned around slowly as an arm sneaked it way around my waist. "You think I'm hot." He started, "just like you liked that kiss I gave you earlier." He said cockily. I hate you Kate. I thought blaming her but that thought wasn't there for very long, before lips were moving against mine. I was shocked, so shocked in fact I couldn't think my mind was a blank, next thing I know I'm kissing him back. I pulled away to get a breath in but I whispered out "Reid." instead. He looked down at me a smirk gracing features.

Someone came up behind Reid, and cleared there throat. It was Caleb, "Come on out back." He practically ordered. I was nervous again. Would they accept me or, would they not trust me? I asked myself. Reid reached around me, and grabbed my drink handing it to me he said "come on"

I looked at him and my feet wouldn't move, he obviously saw hesitation in my eyes and leaned down to whisper "It'll be fine, just c'mon.."

With that he walked out with me closely behind him. "Reid, I'm worried." I whispered into Reid's ear as we walked towards the back door.

"It's alright" He attempted to assure me, but it wasn't working all that well. We walked quickly through the bar and out the back door; stepping down the stairs to await weather or not, I would be welcomed with open arms, or… "Kayla." Caleb started. He, Pouge, and Tyler were there, I gulped.

A flash of a mob or mafia hit me as they each came in closer. Jeez. I thought stepping off the stairs.

"So… you're a witch?" Pouge said.

"Why don't we dive right in." I muttered nodding, Reid still had my hand.

"Who're your ancestors?" Caleb asked.

I was taken by surprise and looked over at Reid words spilling out instantly "You didn't tell them that?" I asked.

"I did." Reid was surprised as well. 'Caleb wouldn't forget that, would he?' I asked myself.

"Just fact checking." Caleb said with his hands raised defensively.

I glanced at Reid he looked a little agitated "What? You think I'd lie?" he growled out. "Wouldn't have been the first time." Caleb quickly.

Don't lose your temper. I thought of Reid's reputation as an easy fuse to light. He stepped forward but I squeezed his hand whispering "Control your temper." Turning around he looked at me with a weird look on his face. I gave him a small smile.

Tyler and Pouge glanced at each other, worriedly. "I don't trust you yet." Caleb said stressing the word yet; looking right at me.

"What? Why the hell not?" Reid asked. Yep he's pissed. I thought with a sigh.

"Reid I also think it was a stupid move to tell her." Caleb started. Man, he's on a roll about making Reid angry tonight isn't he?

"Wha-at?! I didn't even-" Reid started.

"He didn't tell me, I guessed, well knew already but-" I started.

"I don't care how or what happened. The point is Reid either told you or gave you some way of figuring out what we are, and that's obviously not good for any of us, him included." Caleb argued. His eyes narrowing in on Reid.

Well, excuse me 'Mr. I'm-large-and-in-charge. I thought with a scoff as I crossed my arms over my chest.

"She was in the middle of a fucking sentence; I thought you were gentlemen." Reid said glaring at Caleb as he let go of my hand. Oh not here. I cringed seeing the a fight was coming on.

"You're right; I apologize." Caleb said suddenly looking at me. Reid smirked; triumphantly. Then suddenly Caleb changed the subject and got on Reid's case about using. "How many times do I have to tell you before it finally gets into your thick as hell skull, don't use so much you're ascending soon."

Uh oh. I could literally see, Reid's rage boil over.

"I guess just a couple more times." He said as he aimed a shot of power at Caleb sending him into the wall a few feet behind him.

"Reid!" It was Tyler and Pouge now. "Calm down." They suggested.

"No! It's not fair, he told Sarah within hours of meeting her, but when I do it it's a big fucking deal." He insisted. Caleb stood up after that nasty bounce off the wall, I was expecting him to stay down a little longer. "Sarah's different." Caleb coughed out after walking towards us again. Sending Reid into a frenzy, of yelling

"Why?! 'Cause she's your girlfriend, would it have been completely different if she choose me over you?!" Reid yelled.

Caleb shook his head. "You're already agitated because, your powers building, and it effects your ability of control, why don't you take Kayla home, and we'll talk about this some other time." Caleb insisted. He seemed too tired to argue right now.

"No!" Reid shouted "We're talking about this now! If it were Tyler or Pouge you probably would have welcomed their girlfriend with open arms."

Then it hit me Girlfriend? Is that how we were, already? I started thinking as my stomach flip flopped at the word. Screw it I'll leave it for another time. Caleb was already pissed, I mean that throw to a wall would get anyone at least a little aggravated. I bit my bottom lip nervously.

Reid just kept agitating him, finally Caleb sent a shock of power to Reid, and he was thrown back in to a couple of boxes, smashing whatever was inside, which I'm guessing was glass considering, the shatter it made.

Reid got up quickly recovering and sent a ball of power to Caleb. It was half-way there when I grew tired of the fighting and intervened with my power stopping it half-way there. Everyone looked at me. Surprised. "Enough. How old are you boys, almost graduating? Well it sure the hell doesn't look like it." I said as I absorbed the power floating mid-air, and my eyes returned to normal.

"Reid I know you're already in a bad mood as it was but, that's no excuse." I said turning to him.

"And you should know better you've already ascended, so you know how it is, I haven't just yet but, I'm guessing it fucking sucks, I don't have a problem with you yet, but if this is how your gonna act all the time, we're probably gonna." I said turning to Caleb. I looked for Tyler and asked "Are you ready to leave, I kind of just want to head home now." He nodded and followed me out with Reid close behind, sending Caleb a wicked glare.

As I got to my dorm, Reid sort of followed me in. "Sorry about tonight." He apologized as he'd closed the door.

I nodded shrugging as I slid my purse down to the bed saying "Its ok." I turned around to find him right behind me.

"Uh…" I began, "Well, make yourself comfortable." I invited.

Smirking He said "Yeah." with a mischievous look. He'd sprawled across my bed instantly. "You plan on staying?" I asked suddenly with a chuckle and a shake of my head.

He nodded then added "If that's alright."

"It's not like you haven't already." I shrugged in response all the while thinking, oh god, I wonder what'll happen tonight.
