(A/N: Surprise! Yeah, between work and my own version of NaNoWriMo, I say my own version because my schedule's just…too hectic to even try to write that much in a month…just trying to finish a novel before the end of the year…hopefully that'll work.

Anyway, I needed to take a break and write something quick and I actually got this chapter done in 2 days. I feel it's a bit short but it started where I wanted and ended where I wanted so I guess that's the important part. Along with the obvious fun involved. If I named chapters for this story, I'd have called this one "Tunnel Vision" for obvious reasons. It was interesting writing from Dave's perspective for this one but…it just wouldn't have been as much fun from Mindy's, I think you'll see what I mean once you read it. Anyway, thanks for being patient with me. Trust me when I say I'll be infinitely happy when I actually have enough free time to write on a regular basis. Let me know what you think.)

Today was the day. Mindy didn't know it, but today it was going down. She was going down. Everything that had transpired had done so according to Dave's design…well…almost everything. But the point was that he was going to earn his day off today. Mindy wouldn't know what hit her.

It's starting as a normal day, giving Mindy very close looks, letting her know that he's searching for an opening, always searching for an opening. Sure, Dave wasn't expecting to find one, but on the off chance that he could, that would just be a further plus. Then to his surprise he did actually see one. Mindy was leaning back on her chair as she was writing in her diary. Sure, as an unspoken rule they left each other alone at this time, Mindy to her diary and Dave to his phone, but Mindy was always saying he had to be more devious. They were not outside. Mindy was not in the bathroom. By her own words, this time was game.

Of course if he just ran there and attacked, she'd be on guard by the sudden movement and if he tried to sneak, there was a very good chance she'd see that too. That left option three. Dave just walked up to her. "Mindy?"

"Hm?" Mindy looked up and then Dave swept the leg of the chair, throwing her back and as soon she landed and started to pivot, Dave made a move to hit her and knock her off balance. This would have worked if Mindy had pivoted in the direction he was expecting. She didn't. And in a spinning motion swept Dave's leg and while he was in midair, twisted her body and drove her elbow hard enough into Dave's gut to drive the air out of him. As Dave rolled on the floor, gasping for each breath, Mindy stood above him with a grin. This was fine. Painful, but fine. Getting her at this point would have been a bonus. The plan was still going well, assuming he'd be able to breathe ever again.

"You see what I did there? Immediately pressing the attack once I caught you off balance and not waiting to make sure you were okay first?" Mindy knelt down. "You're developing a nice little devious streak there if you'd stop being so damn nice about it. Also if you'd messed up my journal I'd have done more than drive the air out of you. Come on, I didn't hit you that hard. Let's make some food."

Dave rolled over with a groan and a cough. Food is good. First comes food, then light exercises, then sparring. He just had to wait for the sparring and then his moment would come and the pain in his stomach would be worth it.

Soon enough it was time. They were standing across from each other and Mindy was waiting for him to make the first move. So Dave started it, just like he always did, with hand to hand. Mindy probably thought he was just in a routine or something but it was for this reason. To lull her into the routine so when he switched it up, she wouldn't see it coming. But he had to have something that guaranteed victory before he could play his plan to completion. A trump card. Mindy had given him that a few days before.

Of course, it only completely froze Mindy the first time. While it did get a reaction when Dave had tried it afterwards, Mindy's ego seemed to win overall. She didn't want to lose. She wanted to make sure that if Dave got a day off of her that he earned it. And he would. And it all started now. First step, put Mindy off balance. Dave suddenly started to mix it up, with both hand to hand and wrestling moves. He even threw in a couple of moves that he'd seen her do but had never tried before himself. She had absolutely been caught off guard, he could even see a slight smile on her face before she started adjusting her style. Second step was when Dave started with the 'distraction'. Mindy froze slightly at first contact, and Dave switched his tactics.

Keep her off balance, press the attack. Her own words. Sure this isn't exactly a…conventional attack, but Mindy sure as Hell wasn't conventional. It was a distraction and he could and would use it against her. Mindy'd said multiple times that Dave was physically stronger than her, and that the reason she always won was because she just knew how to use her strength better and use her size to her advantage. Dave refused to give her that opportunity. And he'd keep applying the pressure to make sure that she couldn't focus enough to be at her best.

His strategy seemed to be working. Mindy wasn't so much trying to get away as much as trying to get in a better position for leverage. The way she wiggled every now and then was kind of odd, but he figured she was just trying to throw him off. Dave refused to let even that much happen. Every time he ever let up on Mindy even slightly, he paid for it. That wasn't going to happen this time. He'd press the attack, and no matter how much she squirmed or grunted, she wouldn't get away this time. It did occur to him that they'd never specified exactly how long he'd have to incapacitate the pint sized hero. He figured Mindy would tell him when he'd had her down long enough and he'd be damned if he missed his day off because he let her up too soon.

Apparently Mindy really didn't like being pinned down, she was starting to panic, but Dave continued to press on the attack. Dave was so close to the win that he could taste it. And he had to admit, the idea that he'd bested Mindy through planning and strategy did make him feel proud. Would he be able to do it this way again? Hell no. It would probably take weeks to not only find another chink in Mindy's armor but to also find a way to exploit it, but now…now…Kick Ass was better than Hit Girl…for a few minutes…and that was good enough for him, for now at least.

Letting out a final scream of frustration, Mindy finally gave up, trembling and out of breath and obviously incapacitated. Dave chuckled slightly as she finally accepted her defeat. She looked so content and satisfied and…

Fuck…

It took awhile but eventually it finally triggered through Dave's tunnel vision that the reason he was able to keep Mindy down so long was because she wanted to be kept down. She wasn't struggling against him, she was…

…fuck…

This was just…

Fuck!

And her little exhausted giggle was not exactly helping. Subject change needed…now…right now… "So…I win a day off, right?" Dave grumbled.

Mindy was still slightly panting as she slowly nodded. "Mmmmhm…" Mindy moaned biting her lip, and you could tell she wanted to say something else. She didn't say it, but it was pretty obvious about the nature of whatever comment it was.

Dave cleared his throat as he let Mindy go. This was awkward. Massively awkward. And moreso than the awkwardness was the irritation that he could easily pin Mindy down again and get another day…or two…or who knows how many before her ego kicked in again. It was so frustrating! And the way Mindy was looking at him right now…

FUCK!

"I gotta use the bathroom." Dave grunted, as he did his best to walk casually to their agreed safe zone. It seemed so obvious now! He had been just so focused on winning. Of course if he kept nudging her there then this was the obvious conclusion, whether it was a distraction tactic or not. That's just fucking biology! And then, because the universe didn't feel that this was an awkward enough situation…Dave realized he'd be in the bathroom for awhile. He could hear Mindy grunting again and he had no delusions about why this time nor if she was even trying to hide it anymore.

With no way to know when she'd be finished, Dave pinched the bridge of his nose with a sigh. "Goddammit…"
