A/N: Unbetaed and a little short but here is another update. I'm trying to stay more consistent. Enjoy people.
Having strong arms around you means one of two things, safe or something terrible is about to happen. One thing can give away who is holding you, their smell. These days everyone wears some form of deodorant, perfume or after shave, some people smoke, drink or wash in certain things. When Olivia woke up with a pair of muscular arms around her in a different place, she began to panic. Since Sealview she was very jumpy. Then she recognised the smell of her partner's aftershave and cologne. Relaxing she turned to face him, as his eyes were still shut, she pushed her face against his shoulder breathing in his familiar scent that meant safety. Then the reality of the day before hit her hard and she began sobbing into her best friend's shoulder.
Waking up with your best friend in your arms is usually enjoyable. When you wake up to them clinging to you and sobbing though, that is a different kettle of fish. Slowly the events of the day before came back to Elliot. Holding onto Olivia tightly whilst being gentle on her still pregnant belly, they cried together until one of the remaining babies decided that Olivia's bladder was it's dance floor and she felt the need to go to the toilet. Manoeuvring around on the bed until she could get her legs of the side, she quickly went to the bathroom. Splashing water on her face after washing her hands, Olivia enjoyed the slightly refreshed feel it gave her before looking in the mirror. The 'pregnancy glow' had faded a month or so earlier, she just looked tired and rounder. There was also a haunted look in her eyes. She had seen that look plenty of times, at work when she had to tell a parent that her child had not only been abducted but also murdered. The look in the eye of Caitlyn Ryan, a woman who suffered bad PTSD after her rape and was the reason that Olivia had gotten help for her own PTSD after Sealview. The look of lost hope. Then there was a flutter in her tummy, she had three other babies to worry about, life had to go on. Waddling out to Elliot, she pulled at him, then grabbed her phone.
"I want to reschedule our appointment with the OBGYN to get everything fixed today. I-" Olivia was cut off as there was a knock at the door. Pulling on jeans, Elliot went down to answer the door. On his door step was is ex wife, and five children.
"Kathy, is everything ok?" Elliot asked worried.
"No, we seen the news with what happened to Olivia, we came to check on her. I know we aren't the best of friends and our divorce wasn't the nicest but I couldn't ignore something like that. I want her to know she has my support." Kathy said in a rush, trying to get the wording out before she lost her confidence. Elliot stepped back to allow the kids to enter the house but stepped back in front of Kathy.
"You better be sincere Kathy, otherwise I will throw you out of the house." Having said his piece, he stepped aside to allow his ex-wife entrance to what use to be their home.
"Olivia, I know I am probably the last person you want to see but when we seen the news and heard you had been shot, we just had to come." Kathy began as soon as she seen Olivia. Seeing the look in Olivia's eye she broke off and wrapped her arms around the pregnant detective.
"I am so sorry Olivia." Kathy murmured as she held the detective. At Kathy's kind words, Olivia's resolve crumbled and she began to cry again.
"Dad, what happened?" Kathleen asked quietly. Ushering the children into the next room, in a hushed voice Elliot explained the shooting and the subsequent miscarriage that occurred. Lizzie, Dickie, Maureen and Kathleen gasped. Eli was to you to understand but upon hearing everyone else's reaction he pipped up,
"uh oh."
"That's right Bud." Maureen said to her baby brother.
