-Grey-

Grey sighed as he sat and watched the Alphas in front of him devour all of the remaining meat with a grumbling stomach. All of them took way too much then they could handle with each bite, making a mess in no time. The ground around them was littered with small meat chunks and meatless bones. Blood covered the small area where they dined, staining the fur of the ferocious alphas as well as their teeth.

The sight made him sick to the stomach and forced him to look a different direction. This relieved his stomached but the sound of the crunching of bones and meat brought it back as well. Hunger was no longer a problem but now he felt like his small breakfast was coming out the wrong way.

He shook his head in disappointment toward the other alphas. It was enough that we took five innocent caribous lives but their remains were ripped to pieces and wasted. That their last attachment to earth and their families were stripped away with such disrespect, it angered him. And to make it worse was that he was one of them.

He stood up and started to tread the muddy ground, moving away from the blood stained feeding grounds with no location in mind. He need to go somewhere else for now, he could fill his stomach later.

As he pressed on through the verdant forest, he examined the area around him. The moist ground had scarce patches of snow littered through out it. The muddy path he ventured mindlessly on was shaded with aged evergreen trees, giving off the smell of fresh air. Small seedlings took advantage of the over watered ground and decided to take refuge underneath the large sentinels. He couldn't tell if they were young weeds, grass, or flowers but he did not care a little bit. Just the fact that winters destruction on the forest was being restored by springs healing touch was just enough to bring a smile to his face.

He walked on, taking in all of the beauty that nature had to offer. Each step making a 'slop' as he continued on the muddy path. His mindless journey came to a stop as he stopped and laid down, surrounded by the soft embrace of young seedlings. He curled up a bit, letting his sore back arc itself.

The soft tweeting of the common group of birds and the buzzing of the loyal bees brought Grey's head a little bit of relief. His eyes began to slowly feel weight place itself above his weary eyes.

There, with the serenity of nature easing his senses, he closed his eyes. His mind instantly started to play pictures inside of his head, recalling every thing that has been going on.

Winter had long since passed as well as all of the lengthy training that was placed upon him, and was replaced with the new responsibilities of a Pack Scout. This was none other than his dear Alpha, Kiera's, doing. Do to the lack of physical talent present within Grey, she thought it to be wise to place a position that only entailed observing. The fighting was done by the regular Alphas.

Grey was not the only one with this job. Two younger twins, Reems and Creed, was partnered with him when Grey was assigned.

Reems was the twenty-three minute older brother, who's white coat blended in with snow well enough to grant him the position in the scouting field. His eyes shined brightly with the color that matched the blue sky. Reems was more tenacious than his younger sibling. Wherever Creed went, he wasn't too far off either. The protectiveness of Reems had started bickering between the wolves. His physique matched that of Grey's, small but toned. The thing that made Reems special was the amount of speed he possessed. He could out run many of the other Alphas and his stamina seemed to be limitless.

Creed was the younger sibling, her body was covered in soft fur that matched the color of her brothers. White with a small patch of grey that covered her right eye and streaked along her right side al the way to her back. Amber colored eyes glowed like the sun on a snowy day, completely complementary to her fur. This simple trait had attracted the attention of many male Alphas. Unfortunately, she couldn't get close to any of the due to her brother and his "responsibilities" to her.

She had the unique ability of wit that not much other wolves had. Inside her head laid battle tactics, pack history, and the ability to understand written human language. She had many choices concerning her position during this winter. But her love toward Reems was enough to force her to follow her brothers footsteps.

There wasn't too much that they had to do in their positions as pack scouts. Thankfully, they didn't have too much training exercises as the alphas but they were in charge of invading enemy lands without any back up, come out with rare information, and not getting killed in the process. The fact that there wasn't any tension with any other packs brought a wave of relief to him. He didn't want to lose his life, at least not until he found out who he really was.

And why he sometimes visited by amber eyes in his dreams which he always had thought he knew.

-Flake-

Flake followed Grey's trail for a while with a piece of her lunch in her mouth. She saw him sulk off with his head down without any food. She knew something was bothering him, he would usually wait until everyone had their share then take whatever he could.

She always thought of him as a kind person to wait to go last even though he could take some above some of the younger wolves. Though, after what she saw earlier, she wasn't so sure he was just being nice. Something was up, and she wanted to find out.

Finally, after following his muddy tracks, the small scent of mint and pine became recognizable. That is how she knew it was Grey up ahead. He had always hated smelling like a swamp so instead of ignoring it like everyone else, he would just roll around in some pines and he would come out smelling fresher then any other alpha. She had thought it was pointless but she did find nice that he didn't smell like a sweaty mess whenever she started a conversation with him.

Her quick jog stopped as she started to hear a large snoring coming to her ears. She put her weight on her toes with a smile on her face as she slowly followed the sound with as much stealth as she could muster.

She stood over the sleeping scout with the piece of caribou in her position observing his rising and falling stomach.

He looked peaceful as he slept in the middle of a small clearing. The soft ground under her paws suggested to lay down beside him and catch up on her sleep as well. The sweet sounds of the forest filled her ears and added to her temptation. But, however sad it may be, it would inappropriate for the both of them.

He started to mumble in his own sleep a bit, but the words were to small to make out as actual words. She thought it was cute, Grey had always snuck out of his scout training and came to clearing like this and snuck in a nap before Reems and Creed would come look from him.

She was really jealous of him and his ability to sleep anywhere he wanted to. Flake always had to have a soft, and smooth bedding or else she wouldn't get any sleep in.

She even confronted him about it to about right when spring had came and asked how he did it.

-Flash back-

~'Flake walked up to the tree that housed the sleeping form of Grey who had squeezed himself into the tiny den of a white coated rabbit. The back of his head blocked the entrance of the tree and granted him the ability to take a quick look outside of he felt threatened.

She had just went out to find some more tree sap to help seal a young wolves cut across his paw. The best place to find such a substance was inside a nearby oak tree that stood on the outskirts of the pack. Regular pine trees had some sap, but they were dispersed through out the entire tree in little groups. It was much easier and faster to just go to the oak tree where sap covered most of the tree.

She chuckled to herself and sat down in front of his little den and wagged her tail. She plotted and schemed what marvelous things that she may be able to pull on him.

Swiftly, the warm den that housed the scout was infiltrated with the freezing cold snow. The warm den was now a freezing cold ice cave. Flake sat back a bit and waited for Grey to make his move.

She pondered how he would react when he came back to reality. Would he jump out with his fur on end, he could also start screaming "Ahhhh! It's so cold! Help!" Or maybe he would just ignore it. Either way, she just wanted him to show a reaction that she would enjoy seeing.

Ever since Grey had started training with Alpha Kiera over winter, he would stop by most days too sore to even sit. She would always give his sore muscles a massage and wash his fur herself. He was very annoyed by this and always told her that he would handle it himself but she did so every time he came.

Every now and then, she would gather some water from the freezing lake rather than from the usual heated springs and wash him with that. The reactions she got were priceless. She couldn't stop giggling as she washed his shivering cold form all while he threatened to do grim things to her which were passed off as false threats seeing how he couldn't do anything but shiver and shake.

Over this time period, she began treating the wolf as a brother. She would always pull pranks on him but care for him when he was injured or just feeling down. In turn, Grey would always gather materials she needed and try to pull any prank he could on her. Of course, they were all petty attempts that pups could come up with in their spare time but it meant a lot to Flake that he played along with her.

She sat there in silence, anticipating Grey's rude awakening. However, she started to feel disappointment as ten minutes went by with seeing no movements.

She sighed and shook her head in disappointment. "How come you're such a heavy sleeper? I'd give a lot to just be able to sleep outside of my den." She said with a frown.

Her ears perked up almost immediately as she heard a voice within the den.

"Flake! Stop it! Scoop out the snow right now!" He shouted at her bringing an amused smile back to her joyful face.

"Oh no Grey! What happened to you! It looks like there was an avalanche that covered your exit in snow!" She said sarcastically.

She heard an annoyed sigh from within the snow. "Flake this isn't funny. I really need you get rid of a all of this snow now!"

"Hmm." She said as she tapped her chin acting like she was thinking. "Oh come on Grey, you should know me. I could help you out of there, but where would the fun be in that."

"Flake, I do know you and how playful you are, but if our friendship means anything to you, you'll take out the snow right now."

Flake sighed in defeat. "Fine! You're no fun anyway." She started to shovel the snow she shoved in there, quickly emptying the den of all the snow to revile Grey covered in snow. "Jeez Grey, usually you're more fun to joke around with but you just shut..." She trailed off as she spotted a small patch of fur that didn't match Grey's black coat at all. She had thought it was just a patch of snow but now that she saw the small white coat rise and fall like it was breathing.

She grabbed Grey and used her strength to pull him out of the den so fast that all he could get out of his mouth was "Wait!"

What lay curled up beside grey was a mother white coated rabbit breast feeding her two brand new babies. What shocked her was the blood that bled through the jaw marks on its body. There was no chance for the rabbit to live with the amount of blood it was loosing. But regardless of the two of wolves around her and the fear she must be experiencing, she tended her youth while breathing in a rapid fashion. She knew she didn't have long to live, but she knew her babies wouldn't make it without the food brand new offspring needed.

"Grey. What happened?" She asked trying to stay calm.

Grey turned away from her and rabbits with his head down. "I was on my way to fetch you're materials when I saw a rabbit inside the tree. What I didn't see though was the two young children she was caring for. So... I went in for... for the kill." He stuttered

Flake frowned and looked at the family, wondering how she could avoid the sad but quick and painless solution.

She was distracted as she started to hear Grey start to sniffle. She turned her attention to the Alpha who had laid his head down into his paws with small tears in his eyes.

She frowned sadly and turned her head to the fragmented family.

The mothers breath started to slow down and her eyes begun to close slowly. By the time they finally shut, her breathing stopped. Her time had come.

Flake sighed and shook her head. "Why did you try to crawl in with them. Did you just think that sitting with the mother till she died was a smart idea! You could of have left the mother to have a peaceful death at least rather than have a wolf breathing down her back and scaring her offspring." She said.

Grey's head shifted to the ground. "I-I thought they needed warmth... I tried to help them but- I just made it worse." He said choking a bit.

Flake sighed again and rubbed her forehead.

There were no options left.

"Grey, leave right now." She said with a frown. She didn't want to do this to any animal that had its mother killed in the little time it had in this world.

Grey opened his mouth to protest but shut it quickly and nodded. He stood up and started to walk away, not daring to glance back for he knew he would regret the sight.

-End of Flash back-

So, she softly dropped the chunk of meat beside him and turned away, respecting the slumber that Grey was enjoying.

As she begun to walk away, she secretly assured herself that he wasn't the wolf that she thought he was. That those deep blue eyes were not the ones she had remembered from her young age.

The memory of her younger brother sleeping silently in her arms had begun to fill her heart with sorrow that had inhabited itself inside her for so long.

Sad chapter today, sorry it wasn't as good as the previous ones. Sorry I'm not responding to reviews today but the next chapter already has them up on it. Anyways, till next time!
