Chapter 7

Hermione stood outside of Bar Elate waiting impatiently for the infamous Draco Malfoy. She was wary about leaving the bar in Tate's hands for a couple of days but since he had so much promise (and her boss requested) she decided that she would try to let him work behind the counter. Althought, last time they lost about 15 wine glasses and ten shot glasses but who the hell is counting?

The roads weren't as busy and bustling as they always were but Hermione imagined that it was due to the great amounts of snow in the area. She tugged on the sleeves of her gray jacket and silently wished she had picked something warmer. She especially wished she had thought to pack more warm things since the grounds at Hogwarts would no doubt be covered in snow. Hermione hadn't been thinking clearly these past couple of days but she excused her behavior as soon as she saw Malfoy walking towards her. His walk was more of a cool stride because nothing about Malfoy spoke mediocrity.

"Ready to go?" Malfoy questioned, pulling her arm lightly into the alley way that she tried to forget had any significance to her scared senses.

"I was ready about an hour ago," Hermione commented shortly.

"Let's make sure we have everything. Wand, suitcase, broom, and all those documents I left at your flat?" Malfoy quizzed before mounting his broom.

"Yes, all purposes of the trip are in my pocket. Can we go?" She asked, growing even more impatient.

"Let's go," And off they were on their separate brooms to the train station towards the edge of France.

Hermione imagined that the traveling went a little something like a train from Paris, France to Calais, France. There they would hop on an Airplane and travel to London, England. Then they would take the train all the way to Perth, Scotland. Then they would fly on broomstick to the gates of Hogwarts where they would be greeted warmly by her past professors and the current headmaster.

She would only be a three quarters of the way right. They were not greeted warmly by her past professors. In fact, no one met them at the gate and Draco looked slightly nervous.

"I understand that students are on winter leave so the castle wouldn't seem quite as jovial but, out of curiosity, you did TELL them we were going to be using the library didn't you?" Hermione questioned, hand on her hip and wide eyed.

"Well…no not exactly." Draco informed.

"What do you mean not exactly? You either did or you didn't!" She shouted.

"Okay then, I didn't." He said, looking at the locked gates.

"On what planet did you find that a good idea?!" Hermione argued, heat flooding to her cheeks.

"Don't get your knickers in a twist, Granger. If we had just up and told them that we needed to get to the Forbidden section of the library, do you think they would have just up and let us without asking questions?" Draco smirked.

"So, naturally, the solution would be to break in." Hermione said sarcastically.

"Precisely. You catch on quick, Granger." He said, turning away before he could see sticking her tongue out of her mouth to throw a slight tantrum behind his back.

"Alohomora," He whispered and his fears instantly vanished when he heard the soft click of the metal gates to let them in.

"There's no way that we can't get caught," Hermione's fear starting to creep up.

"Where's your sense of adventure?" He questioned, peering up at the sky to catch the snow just starting to fall.

Draco motioned for Hermione to follow behind him quickly as they made their way to the front entrance. Hermione started to feel like they were going to get caught again but that's when Draco unexpectedly took her by the hand. He put a finger to his lips and pulled her lightly to the side of the door where it suddenly burst open with Filch pulling Professor McGonagall rather quickly to the center where the gate was swinging against the wind.

"I swear that someone was here!" Filch shouted.

Professor McGonagall did not look impressed and all she saw was an open gate that appeared to have not been locked by the previous person that was put in charge of doing so. She turned to Filch while Hermione and Draco walked around the door and entered in quickly and quietly before casting an invisible charm over both of them.

They walked quickly to the Library and noticed just how empty the corridors that would originally be filled with students actually were. They removed the charm when they noticed that they were in the clear but suddenly wished that they hadn't removed it so soon. Draco pulled them abruptly into a small opening after hearing footprints from the down the corridor.

"I heard that Filch is off his rocker, again" Someone that sounded like Professor Flitwick remarked.

"He's never been on his rocker to start," It sounded like he was having a conversation with Madame Hooch.

Hermione and Draco had been too nervous to notice that their fronts were pushed up against each other but the first person to notice had been Draco. He could smell that touch of vanilla again. It was a scent that she wore that he had been naturally drawn to. The way that her hair was hit by the light of the candle set off a glow that he had never noticed before. He had scarcely allowed himself to feel such desire or attraction to one person but the way that they were right now had just set it off.

Hermione had noticed that their breathing had become a little heavier and thicker as the conversation between Hooch and Flitwick started to pass by their little cubbyhole. They locked eyes for seconds that felt like hours and it had been molten silver against warm chocolate for a matter of minutes. When they didn't hear anything for a good few seconds they came out of the hole and tried to dust off the moment that they just had. Hermione, of course, being the non-feeling one had been the first to break out of the eye contact.

"So we use this invisible charm to sneak into the Forbidden section and then what? Since they don't know we're here are we staying at Hogsmeade or…?" She questioned, listening carefully to the corridors so as not to have another incident.

"I'll tell you later. For right now, let's try to find this book before making any rash decisions," He said, his breathing finally coming to a normal level.

Hermione, for once, didn't argue but followed his lead. They had the invisible charms that only lasted minutes but Draco seemed to have a well devised plan as to how to sneak in without being noticed. Hermione couldn't feel an adrenaline rush but she knew that she was feeling her fear. Once they had reached the section, they placed a charm around the forbidden section that would only allow them to talk and not be heard.

"What does this book look like?" Hermione questioned, peering around at all the old books and dusting them off before putting them back on the shelves.

"It's got a yellow cover which I'm sure looks like a rotted piece of wood now. It's got silver writing that reads the Dark Arts: Volume 442 jolienta " He told her, instantly finding his way to the row that had millions upon millions of books stashed.

"Jolinenta?" Hermione questioned.

"It's the incantation for pure bliss. Ignorance that allows you to forget the world and everything bad about it. It was once used in the Dark Arts to allow people to die without pain but it wasn't gruesome enough for Death Eaters," Draco informed, rolling up his sleeves and beginning to sort through the books at the bottom.

"I'll start at the top then," Hermione said, walking past him and looking up at tall shelves that had books floating from one shelf to the next.

It had always bugged her how out of order Hogwarts kept their books. It was almost as if they didn't want students to find any sort of book that they were looking for. Hermione remembered that she had once been so sneaky as to come back here and sort through the books that she knew she wasn't supposed to look through. It had once been so interesting but as she stared at all these books she was reminded just how much of a bookworm she truly was.

She remembered an incantation that she had once spoken that would send books flying at someone and start patting them lightly on the head and on the back. It would drive that person completely nuts while she hid behind a book that allowed her to giggle to herself. She silently wondered if she remembered that incantation and that was when she looked at Malfoy. A form of mischievous glimmer rose to her eyes and she sneakily pulled out her wand. She pointed it at Malfoy while he was waving dust out of his face to continue looking for the books.

"Helatio Iraria" She whispered and watched as several book went flying over to him and circled him several times before he finally realized what was going on.

"What the-" He started but then he was cut off by the book lightly tapping him on the head.

He tried to swat at the books but they just kept tapping him all over which made a funny but pulsing feeling swell up in Hermione's chest. She could feel something start to happen but she couldn't stop it no matter how hard she tried. Her chest started to have shooting pain surge through it but still she couldn't stop the smile that was trying to find its way onto her face. The books finally stopped beating at Draco but he noticed something off about what was going on. He heard a soft giggle that started to erupt into full on laughter. It was one of the most beautiful sounds he had ever heard but once he realized where it was coming from, his desire was replaced by fear as soon as he saw Hermione start falling from the top of the shelf.

He ran over to catch her and as soon as he did he muttered a silencing charm that would keep her scream from being heard. So far he couldn't see screaming but he suddenly saw tears streaming from her eyes while she laughed so hard. She couldn't do anything but grab onto his arm and cling to it like her life depended on it. The silent laughing had suddenly ceased and her screams had finally stopped long enough for Draco to warrant removing the charm. He listened to her sweet breathing that meant she was finally starting to relax but she relaxed into a blackout.

"Well, I guess you'll finally start to act happier," He commented, cradling her in his arms as he got up to move her into the place that he had decided they were going to stay for the night.

She unconsciously nuzzled against his chest and inhaled the fresh scent of his aftershave. Draco would be lying to himself if he said that he didn't find it the least bit adorable.
