Chapter 6

The team were standing in the middle of Central City in their civilian clothes, waiting for the Flash to come out of the large building that they had stopped at. After waiting for a few minutes they saw Barry Allen come at them at a slow jog. Kaldur stepped forward.

"Did you find where the magic was coming from?" he asked, in his gentle tone. Barry's smile suddenly disappeared, which surprised the team a lot because they had almost always seen the man with a goofy smirk.

"Yeah, apparently it originated from the outskirts of the city. In a small suburban area." Barry answered Kaldur's question, the frown never leaving his face.

"Isn't that a good thing?" asked Raquel. "I mean the threat was away from the city." Barry sighed

"It originated from Wally's street. And I still can't get a hold of him." The team could tell that the 'mother hen' mode had been switched to maximum.

"I'll call him." Said Artemis, taking out her phone and walking away.

"Well I suggest we go to the place and investigate. Let's find out what's going on." Said Robin, hitting his fist into his palm. Barry chuckled and nodded.

"Alright, but we will go in groups to cover more ground. Aqualad, Rocket and Zatanna will come with me and check the north of the street, while Miss Martian, Superboy, Robin and Artemis will check out the south. Remember to not reveal your true mission, for these are good people and I don't want to put them in any danger." Barry instructed as the teenage heroes listened.

He then looked to Artemis; she was hanging up the phone and was running back to them. Barry smiled.

"Let's go!"

Wally sat on the couch with Maria, turning the fragile, yellowing pages with his hand. On each page was a portrait of a man or woman with one of the five rings on their carefully painted fingers. These were the past Planeteers. Maria put her hand on Wally's and he turned to look at her.

"What is this?" Wally asked, closing the thick book gently. "This is the Book of Planet; it is passed down from Planeteer to Planeteer." She replied as moved to pick up the broken teacup from her soaked carpet.

"How did you know that I could open it?" Wally said as he tried to help her but she waved him off.

"Ma-Ti said you'd come." Maria put the pieces on the coffee table and knelt down on the ground in front of Wally.

"Wally, you have to know that…" She looked at the ground then back into his eyes, she sighed. "Your parents were heartbroken when they had to give you up, your Mother cried for days." Her eyes betrayed her when they started to water.

Wally was speechless. He hadn't realized that his parents had loved him so much. He set the book on the couch then knelt down next to the kind woman.

"Tell me about them. Tell me my parents." He asked softly, want to know every detail.

Maria looked up to him again; she could hear the plea in his stoic voice and smiled.

"You look a lot like your father. But your eyes are your mother's calm, kind green." She said as she used her thumb to trace his cheekbone.

"You have both of their characteristics in you, the jokester from your father, yet the compassion from your mother." She smiled, and Wally knew that she has been holding these words back for a long time. He hugged her feeling the warmth and he never wanted to let go.

Suddenly his phone went off. He pulled away then saw the caller ID.

Artemis.

He looked back to Maria, "Sorry, I have to take this." He said, and started heading towards the small kitchen. He opened the phone,

"Hello?"

"Wally! Where have you been?!" He pulled the phone away slightly, wincing.

"I told Robin that I had some personal stuff to handle."

"Well, stop your personal stuff, and come to Central." Central?

"What are you doing there? I thought that you had a meeting with Batman."

"Well, if you didn't miss the meeting then you would know, wouldn't you?" He deserved that.

"Alright, I'll be there soon."

"Where are you anyway?" He hesitated.

"Um… El Paso."

"What?! What are you doing there?"

"Like I said, babe, personal stuff. I'll see you soon." He hung up.

He went back into the living room, and Maria stood up.

"I have to go home, something's happened." He said regretfully, but Maria just smiled and put a hand on his shoulder.

"Come back again soon." Then she pulled him into another hug. He nodded into her shoulder. Then he grabbed the Book and left.

The servant was racing down the tunnel the hard, dirty ground crunching after every step. He ran until he got to the master's chambers. He took a deep breath and tried to slow his beating heart. He knocked on the door and waited for an answer. A grunt came from inside. The servant opened the heavy door and went inside the dark room. His master, like always, was standing in front of the stone basin, peering into the enchanted waters. The servant came forward and bowed,

"My lord, we have a problem." He said in a shaky voice. The master's head turned slightly.

"Well? Out with it fool!" He demanded. The servant cowered into himself.

"M - Ma-Ti has escaped." He whispered. The master then turned around fully. His red eyes glowering underneath his hood. He swung his hand and lightning shot out. The servant jumped and in his place was a bunch of scorch marks.

"What are you still doing here?! FIND HIM!"
