Addison:

"So what did Derek need to tell you?" my best friend and roommate Naomi asks. I sit down beside her on the sofa.

"He got some chick pregnant." I blurt as I grow teary.

"Oh Addie." Nai says reaching for my hand. "You guys were so perfect."

"We didn't break up." I sniffle. "It was before we met and the woman he….well the mother is married. He wants us to stay together but he's gonna be part of the baby's life."

"What did you say?"

"I said I needed time to think. I mean this if typical I find the perfect guy and he managed to get some one night stand pregnant." I cry. "And the worst part is, even though we've only been together for two months, I think I love him."

"Addie, this might not be a bad thing." Naomi says hugging my shoulders. "It could be a blessing in disguise."

"You think?" I ask. She nods.

"I do." She says with a small smile.

I feel guilty that I ever doubted being part of Kali's life. I could have missed out on the best thing that ever happened to me. If I had only known then what I know now.

"Adds, you okay?" Derek asks coming up behind me in the doorway of our daughters room. I place my hand to my lips not wanting him to wake her.

"Let's go to our room." I whisper. He follows me into our bedroom and we sit on the bed.

"Hey what's wrong?" He asks.

"I almost missed out on this. May….Maybe if I'd been more...s...supportive in the beginning." I cry. "I….I could have….we could have fought from the start for her."

"No, Addie honey don't blame yourself." Derek says hugging me close to him. "We had no idea Gigi would do this. You couldn't have been a better mom to her."

"I...I don't know how I ever could have thought she….she would have ruined us." I sob into his chest.

"Adds, you had a right to doubt it. But what happened when you first held her?" Derek asks pulling me up and cupping my face in his hands. "What happened to your doubts?"

"They disappeared." I sniffle. "I knew the moment I saw her she was the best thing that would ever happen to me."

"See, Addison you've been there for her since the day she was born. No one, especially Kali, doubt how much you love her." He assures me. I nod.

"Thank you. I love you." I say he smiles and kisses me.

"I love you too Honey."

Kali:

School had been going really good. I adjusted and found myself emerged into my new friend group with ease. It all seemed to be easier here than in my old town. It was nicer and friendlier for sure.

"Hey Kals you should come shopping with us on Sunday." Emmaline says.

"I'll ask my mom and dad." I say with a smile.

"Can we look for Formal dresses?" Tess asks with a pout.

"What's that?" I ask them.

"It's a dance where you dress well formally." Amberly informs. "Tess I told you my mom wants to take me."

I grin at the idea of Addison dress shopping with me. She would be so into it and I bet we'd have a blast.

"My mom will probably want to help me find mine too." I tell them. "But I could use some new jeans and shoes...oh I can never have enough shoes." The girls laugh and agree.

When I get home my dad is in the kitchen cooking. It smells good and I can't help my stomach growling. I put my stuff in my room and hurry back to the kitchen. I slide into the tall seat at the counter.

"Hey sweetie mom had a surgery so it's gonna just be us for dinner." He says with a smile. "I'm making Salmon."

"I love fish!" I exclaim with a grin. He chuckles.

"It'll be done in about twenty minutes." He says. "I was thinking after dinner you and I could do something just the two of us."

"Sure." I smile. "Like what?"

"You'll see." He says mischievously.

That something turned out to be glow in the dark mini golf. According to my dad I was natural. I didn't tell him that Matthew used to take me mini golfing all the time when I was little. It was hard for me. Matthew had been a good dad to me. I accepted Addison easily because I' never had a loving mother before but with Derek it was harder. I didn't want to hurt him though and I was determined to let him be my dad again.

"So, icecream?" He asks once we finish. "I mean since you just kicked my ass at golf?"

"Just mini golf. If it was real gold I promise I would have lost big time." He chuckles.

"Chocolate?" He asks. I nod.

"My favorite. But I like mine with sprinkles." I say. He grins.

"Me too kid."

"Hey dad?" I say suddenly. "Thanks for this. I had fun." I really had too.

"Me too sweetie."

Derek:

When I walk into our Brownstone master bathroom I find Addison throwing up. My instinct is to comfort her but we'd been so distant with each other since we lost our daughter. Sure we had sex but that was basically it.

"You ok?" I ask her.

"Derek." She says looking up. "I think I'm pregnant."

"No!" I exclaim. "You...you can't. If...if Kali comes home...or…..no you can't be."

"Derek." She cries.

"No. Take care of it." I snap storming out of the bathroom. She later tells me it turns out it was just food poisoning. I felt awful.

I feel Addison's weight as she climbs into bed. Her surgery had gone later than she'd expected but it was nice to have some time with Kali.

"Addie?" I whisper.

"Yea babe?" She asks snuggling close to me.

"I never said sorry." I say quietly. "For how absent I was but especially about the pregnancy scare. I….I should have a lot of things. I never should have treated you like that."

"Oh Derek don't hold that over your head. It was a bad time for both of us. I know you didn't mean to hurt me. We've moved past it." She assures kissing my cheek.

"Did you want a baby?" I ask because I honestly had never considered it before.

"Not then. Later yes but it was still too soon." She admits. I nod and pull her even close so she's laying on top of me. Her head over my heart.

"I'm sorry. I love you so much." I say into her hair.

"I know honey. I know. I love you too." She says pecking my lips before laying her head back down.
