Epilogue

Word was that Strange was bringing the Bat in soon, which had sent every super criminal into a frenzy, trying to get their plans prepared for his arrival. In the shadows of their scheming, the Ladies of the Night planned as well. Planned their escape from Arkham City.

Now the walls were thick. But there were areas that weren't as thick as others. Specifically, the rooms inside the walls, like the TYGER Confiscated Goods Vault. But that was heavily guarded of course. Heavily armed TYGER guards around the clock. Which normally wouldn't be a problem, except they had no way of getting into the vault either. However, there was one place.

Finally, they got the word: Batman had arrived. That's when they got to work. They packed the essentials and began placing explosives around the inside of the Monarch Theater (Ana didn't want anyone but herself using this theater out of professional pride and it turns out that Lucy stole more munitions than they actually needed. Plus, who knew what Cobblepot would do to it when she left?) Only, a few hours before she left, she got news that he'd been taken out by the Bat. So, in spite of what her mind and gut and every logical cell in her body told her, she turned to her lieutenants and said, "I vill be right back girls. Be ready to leave vhen I return."

The guards at Pinkney were no matter. So when the time came, she descended the stairs of the Pinkney atrium, poised and powerful, looking into Cobblepot's new home: Bruce Wayne's display case, complete with flashy lights and skimpy dressed mannequins. She chuckled. "Vell, vell, vell. Look how the tables have turned." The Penguin narrowed his eyes at her.

"Laugh all you want, slag, I'll cut you up first when I get out." All Ana did was smile fondly, before bringing out a knife to clean her fingernails with.

"Vhere's my ring, Osvald?" she asked vaguely. He sniffed.

"Why would I tell you that?" She paused for a moment before stabbing it through the glass, an inch from the Penguin's oversized gut. Predictably, he screeched and scampered into a corner, sufficiently spooked.

"Because that ring is the only thing standing betveen your innards and my knife." She let go of the knife, leaving it embedded in the glass. "So I will ask you once more: Vhere. Is. My. Ring." Cobblepot was still for a moment, before pulling a chain off his neck. Ana quickly opened the cage and took it, closing it just in time to prevent his attempt to pounce on her. She removed the ring from the chain and replaced it on her finger swiftly before moving to walk away. "I never understood what was so bloody important about that ring to you." She turned back to him and surveyed him for a moment: sad little king of a now nonexistent hill.

"And you never vill." With that, she turned and vanished into the night.

The near thousand female Arkham City inmates carefully crept through the streets, scaring off the goons that tried to stop them with the lethal of combination of glares and guns. Ana and her Lieutenants took care of the TYGER cameras (though to be honest, there seemed to be fewer than before), keeping Strange from knowing about the commotion.

Ana, Lucy, and Jeannie, being the most physically capable, took care of the TYGEr guards with relative ease. After that, Jeannie handled the explosives, blowing a hole right through the "impenetrable" wall of Arkham City and out into the free world Gotham City. They quickly started ushering the girls through, the lieutenants staying behind to make certain the last had gone through. Unfortunately, this gave one of the TYGEr guards enough time to wake up, leading to him aiming his pistol on the blonde lieutenant of Ana Andreyev. No one noticed until too late… except Jeannie.

"Look out!" she cried, covering Lucy's body with her own.

BA-BANG!

Two shots went off almost together: the TYGER guard's shot at the women and Ana's shot at him. It hit him right between the eyes, through his SWAT gear helmet and he fell, dead as a doornail.

"NO!" Someone screamed behind her and Ana turned to find Lucy desperately trying to stop Jeannie from bleading out. "Why would you do that, Jean?" Lucy demanded furiously. "Why?" Jeannie just smiled sadly and wiped Lucy's tears away. "People do crazy things… when they're in love… And I do believe I was a little in love with you." Lucy blinked as Jeannie kissed her gently on the lips, before her chest stopped moving and her hand fell to the floor. Lucy choked on a sob, Ana placing a comforting hand on her right hand's shoulder.

"Ve need to keep moving," Ana said. Lucy nodded, closing Jeannie's eyes gently.

Ana looked at Jeannie for a moment, before turning to her lieutenant, all of whom looked a decade older than they had a moment ago. Suddenly, the sound of explosions and screams filled the air. The girls carefully peeked out to find TYGEr helicopters firing on the city, destroying everyone and everything. "Vell, I'd say now vould be the perfect time to make our exit girls." She turned and headed out, the other girls following close behind. Carefully, she counted them off as they exited: Gilda, Grace, Alice, Chase… where were Veronica and-

Oh no.

"Lucy?!" Ana cried, going back to find Veronica tumbling toward her, clutching her wrist. "Vere's Lucy? Lucy!" she called.

"She took off when the bombs started," Veronica grit out.

"And you let her go?!" Ana shouted.

"I think my broken wrist can testify to the fact that I did not!" Veronica cried indignantly. Ana handed her off to the others before moving away from the group.

"Get everyone else out of the city," she ordered her lieutenants, before turning back to Arkham City. "I'll get her back."

The young blonde right hand of Madame Andreyev did her best to avoid getting shot, or otherwise horribly murdered by the TYGER helicopters currently raining Hell upon Arkham City.

"Lucy, what are you doing out here?! You know it's not safe!" Michael said, pulling her behind some cover.

"I couldn't leave you!" Michael kissed her desperately on her cheeks and forehead, shaking his head.

"Why you gotta be like this Luc?!" He cried, kissing her more.

"People do crazy things when they're in love," was all she said. She kissed him full mouth before pulling him toward the earlier exit. Together, they dodged bullets and shrapnel and explosions, only coming to a stop when faced with the monstrosity of a furious Ana Andreyev.

"Lucy! Vat are you doing out here?! You know it's not safe!" she shouted.

"I couldn't leave him!" she defended.

"Lucy-" Ana rolled her eyes and looked irately over her charge's shoulder to see something headed right their way. "LOOK OUT!" She shoved Lucy and her lover to the ground, the missile blowing up in her face, sending her ten feet through the air, where she landed and moved no more.

"ANA!" Lucy screamed. She immediately raced over to and grabbed her madame, pulling her toward their exit and away from the fire. Michael joined her a moment later. "Help me carry her. I know the way out," she said. They hadn't a moment to lose.

Madame Anastasia Andreyv of Gotham's Underworld woke up to find her right hand woman Lucy and her right hand woman's lover looming over her. Lucy's eyes were red and running with tears and Michael seemed to be doing his best to stop her from bleeding out from the multiple shrapnel wounds that covered her body.

"Ana," Lucy sobbed. "Ana, I'm so sorry." Ana was silent for a moment, before she brushed Lucy's tears away.

"Are you alright?" was all she asked. Lucy blinked, confused.

"What?"

"Are you alright?" Lucy paused for a moment before nodding. Ana smiled and nodded slightly. "Then it vas vorth it." Lucy closed her eyes and let Ana kiss her forehead. The Madame then motioned the young man forward. Once he was practically nose-to-nose with her, she asked him, "Do you love her?" He blinked and nodded.

"With all my heart and soul." Ana surveyed him with her steel piercing stare, before carefully removing the diamond engagement ring from her finger and dropping it in his palm, to both of the young adults' shock.

"I think you know what to do with this," she smiled and Lucy sobbed, kissing and clutching her hand, Ana whispering Russian lullabies and other soothing phrases as the destruction continued outside. After what seemed like an eternity, the bombs stopped, Ana took her last breath, and her hand fell for the final time. Lucy, reluctantly, let go, and fled with Michael from the city, Wonder Tower exploding behind them a moment later.

After Arkham City was closed, Lucy and Michael Pontmercy reopened Ana's establishment, with the help of every female former inmate of Arkham City, many of whom had been released after suing the city for violation of Human Rights, and the the rest of whom had… delayed their return to prison.

Madame Anastasia Andreyev was buried between Sonya Andreyev (her only family) and Andrew Araki (her only love). The funeral was attended by more than half of the women who had come to and gone from her establishment, crowding the Gotham Cathedral's graveyard with a couple thousand visitors.

On the gravestone was engraved: Make the most of what you've got because you never get enough.
