Chapter 7
Princess Zelda of Hyrule Castle was in fact having a prophetic dream of her own. In her dream, she could see Link and the problems he had faced so far with his life in Hyrule. She wore a magical necklace that protected her mind from the long term effects of prophetic dreams. She saw all of his friends and she knew he was having difficulties with his own dreams. Her dream showed her all of this. She woke up in her private chambers with a start. That dream was very powerful. Her private chambers were decked out with very fancy items. Her blankets and curtains were made from only the finest materials found throughout the land. She had an end table with a small wooden bowl with water in it to wash her face in the morning. She had all sorts of baubles and decorations adorning the walls from people that visited the castle. There were a lot of pictures and ornaments with the three golden triangles known as the Triforce. It was the symbol of Hyrule and it was literally shown everywhere in the castle.
She got up out of her bed. She was wearing a pink nightgown. She ran her hands through her long blonde hair in worry. She had to meet that boy she dreamt about. But how was she going to do that? She knew of a way, but it was a little risky and dangerous. Since there was little other choice, she walked over to her door and knocked lightly. A reply came from the other side.
"What is it, princess? Do you require something?"
Zelda sighed. She hoped that she would be able to communicate with the boy.
"Yes, Impa. I need your help with something. Please come in."
The door opened and an older woman with white hair and hazel eyes walked in. She wore a purple two piece outfit. The top piece covered her down to her legs and she wore long purple boots. She was Princess Zelda's nanny and was responsible for keeping her safe. She even discovered that Zelda had telepathic powers. She helped the ten year old princess perfect her gift over the last couple years. However, Zelda always felt nervous when using her gift. Impa gently put a hand on Zelda's head.
"What's wrong, my dear? You can't sleep tonight? Is there someway I can help?"
Zelda put a hand to her forehead.
"I-I had a prophetic dream about this boy dressed in green clothing from the forest. I saw him, Impa. I saw the problems he's been having and I want to send a telepathic message to him."
Impa held up her hands.
"Whoa. Slow down a little. Why do you want to contact this boy? What kind of problems did you see?"
Zelda rubbed her eyes.
"He's having prophetic dreams, Impa. Just like the ones I have. I could sense his pain. They are hurting him. There is also something else. Something weird about him. He is not from Hyrule at all. I will have to find out the truth when we meet."
Impa sighed deeply.
"I'm not sure if this is a good idea, Zelda. Are you sure you want to contact him?"
She looked into Impa's eyes and nodded.
"Yes. I want him to know that I'm expecting him to make his way to the castle."
Impa walked over and sat on the princess's bed.
"Alright. Let's see if you can communicate with him."
Zelda walked over and sat beside her attendant. Impa took a deep breath.
"Alright. Now, close your eyes and concentrate hard. Try to use your powers to find your way into this boy's mind."
The princess nodded and closed her eyes and concentrated hard. She hoped that she would be able to find him.
Link was still having troubles sleeping, but he somehow managed to doze off. He shortly began dreaming, but this time, something was different! He figured that he was about to have the prophetic dream again but instead, he found himself standing in a garden of some sort. He looked around, but he didn't see anything that looked remotely familiar. Suddenly, a figure appeared in front of him. It was a girl wearing a pink dress. When she got closer, he gasped in shock.
"You! I've seen you before in my dreams! Who are you?"
She smiled sweetly.
"My name is Princess Zelda. Your name is Link correct?"
Link was dumbfounded.
"How do you know my name?"
Zelda grinned.
"I know many things about you, Link. I know that you aren't from this land and neither are your friends. I know that you are having troubles with prophetic dreams."
Link was astounded. No normal person would know all of that! He scratched his head in confusion.
"How do you know all this? I don't even know you yet! How is this even possible that we are talking to each other?"
Zelda nodded understandingly.
"I knew you would ask that. Besides having prophetic dreams as well, I also have telepathic abilities and that's how we are talking right now. Listen, Link. I can help you get those dreams under control. We have other matters that I need to speak to you about in person. Please make your way to Hyrule Castle when you wake up. Please be careful. There are many guards outside the castle and the front entrance is heavily guarded. I want you to make your way to the right side of the castle. There is a small drain that leads into the castle. You should be able to get in. After that, you should be close to the courtyard."
Link smiled confidently.
"Alright. It's a deal. I'm not sure how much longer I can put up with these annoying dreams. I'll see you at the castle. Is it okay if I bring my friends?"
Zelda shook her head.
"No. I would like to speak to you only. Your fairy can come, but leave your other friends in Castle Town. Besides, you stand a better chance of making it in the castle alone. If you bring too many people, you'll only end up getting caught!"
Link smiled.
"You're probably right. I'll head to the castle as soon as I wake up. I'll see you soon."
Zelda smiled and nodded. Suddenly, the whole area began to vanish. Link woke up in his bed. He got up and looked out the nearby window. It was morning already? He looked around the room and realized that everyone else was still asleep. He sighed with relief. He didn't wake anybody up with his dream. He wondered if he moaned or groaned in his unsettled sleep, but that didn't seem to be the case. He turned and went to sit down on his bed when he noticed that somebody was awake and sitting on his pillow looking at him. It was his fairy partner Navi. She smiled sweetly.
"Good morning Link. You couldn't sleep either, eh?"
Link returned the smile.
"No. I had a very realistic prophetic dream. In this one, I was actually talking to somebody. She said her name was Princess Zelda."
Navi gasped.
"You were talking to...the princess of Hyrule Castle?"
Link rubbed his eyes and nodded.
"Yes I did. She told me that she wants me to meet her at the castle. She even told me how to get in the castle. Charlie and Max aren't going to like this, but I'm supposed to travel alone. You are the only one I can bring along. Maybe after this, my prophetic dreams will be gone."
Navi shook her head in wonder.
"Wow. That's amazing, Link! I'd be honored to accompany you on your journey to the castle. I'm sure your friends will understand. Let's wait until they wake up. Then you can explain things to them."
Link and Navi sat down and waited until Charlie and Max woke up. About two hours later, they started to groan and move around. Link clapped his hands.
"Come on you two! Wakey wakey!"
They groaned even louder and eventually got out of their beds and stumbled over to where Link was standing. Charlie rubbed his eyes.
"Couldn't you let us sleep a little longer?"
Link chuckled.
"If I let you sleep any longer, you would've slept the day away. Now, I have something to tell you two and it's very important."
Max stretched his arms and yawned.
"What is it, Link? This better be good. I was having a very restful sleep until you wakened me with your infernal clapping!"
Link laughed softly.
"That was funny, Max. Now, on to the serious matter, I've got to travel to Hyrule Castle with Navi. I need you two to stay here."
Max held up his hands.
"Whoa, Link. Back up a little. We want to know what's been going on with you lately. Navi told us that you've been having prophetic dreams. Can you give us a little insight? We're a little worried about you."
Link sighed and sat down on his bed and rubbed his eyes.
"It's true. I have been having those dreams every night since I got here a couple days ago. They are very realistic and they have been tormenting me. Last night, Princess Zelda came in my dreams and told me that she wants to meet me and instructed me to go to Hyrule Castle with just Navi. I need you guys to trust me. I'm not lying to you and I hope you're not angry with me. If I could bring you two with me, I would."
Charlie and Max looked at each other and turned around and smiled at Link. Charlie stepped forward.
"Okay. We're with you. We'll stay here in Castle Town. Good luck on your journey to the Castle and we'll see you when you get back."
Link grinned at his friends.
"Thanks a lot, fellas. Let's walk out to the road leading to the castle together"
Link and his friends thanked the innkeeper and made their way outside. There wasn't a huge crowd around any of the stalls today, so it was easier to see all of the buildings. They immediately saw a large building with a lot of guards hanging around it. Link spotted a soldier walking close to him and his friends. He waved his hand to attract his attention.
"Excuse me, sir? What is that building behind you with all of the soldiers crowded around it?"
The soldier turned and faced the two story building and stood proudly.
"That is the Castle Town barracks, son. It's where us guards relax and rest up for our shifts. We also keep dangerous criminals locked up on the second floor. Right now, we have a gerudo named Saska locked up. Say, aren't you the kids that knocked her out yesterday?"
Link chuckled and nodded.
"Yes that was us. She was chasing my friends and I managed to hit her with my slingshot right on her skull."
Charlie smirked.
"Yeah after hitting us a couple times!"
Link turned around and grinned at Charlie.
"I know I gotta work on my aim, but at least I didn't knock you out."
The guard laughed.
"I think your friend is trying tell you that you need target practice. There is a shooting gallery just near the path that leads to Hyrule Castle. Why don't you go there and practice a little?"
Link grinned. That would be the perfect place for Charlie and Max to hang out until he returned! He looked up at the guard and shrugged.
"Maybe you're right. I might go there now."
The guard gave him a quick nod.
"Good to hear. Now, if you'll excuse me, I got to get back to work before anybody catches me slacking off."
He walked away and resumed his patrol. Charlie turned to Link.
"I thought you were heading to the castle. Why do you want to go and do some target practice?"
Link shook his head.
"I don't. I was just making conversation. I want you and Max to go there and have some fun while I'm gone. You still have a lot of money left, just don't spend it all."
Charlie had an idea. He reached into his pocket and brought forth the bag of rupees he and Max had won together. Link cocked his head to one side.
"What are you doing with our money, Charlie?"
Wordlessly, he reached his hand into the bag and pulled out five purple rupees. Purple rupees were worth fifty. He looked at Link and smiled.
"Here's 250 rupees, Link. I want you to take this in case you run into any trouble. I also don't want to spend all of our money at the shooting gallery."
Link nodded in admiration. Charlie was such a thoughtful friend to have. He took the money from Charlie and patted him on the back heartily.
"Thanks, Charlie. You're a true pal. I'll see you and Max when I get back, okay?"
Max grinned.
"Don't end up getting lost on your way to the castle. We want to hear all about Hyrule Castle when you return."
Link chuckled and replied back as he walked out of the Castle Town towards the castle
"Thanks, Max. I'll keep that in mind!"
Link walked outside the town's walls with Navi following closely behind. The path to the castle consisted of high cliffs on either side of them. He could see a girl in the distance. He began to walk forward. Suddenly, his eyes caught movement above him. He looked up and groaned. That big, talkative owl from yesterday had returned! Upon seeing Link, the huge owl Kaepora Gaebora made a dive and landed in front of him and Navi.
"Hoot hoot! Hello, Link! What are you doing over here? Have you got an errand at the Castle?"
Link gritted his teeth. He didn't want to deal with this nuisance now! He glared at the owl.
"Yes as a matter of fact, I do. I've got to talk to Princess Zelda. So if you'll excuse me, I'm going to make my way there."
Kaepora cleared his throat.
"You're going to have some difficulties ahead of you. The castle is heavily guarded. Do you even have a plan for getting inside?"
Link threw up his hands in anger.
"Yes! I don't have time to discuss it though. I really have to get moving. Can you let me pass already?"
The owl glared at Link dangerously.
"Link, let me give you some advice. It would be very unwise of you to make me angry. Whether you believe it or not, I am going to play a vital role in your life here. So remember my words the next time you decide to be rude to me."
With that being said, he flapped his wings and flew off in a huff. Link shrugged his shoulders.
"What the heck did he mean by that? He's going to play a vital role in my life here? How is he going to do that exactly?"
Navi shook her head slowly.
"I don't know, Link. You should really watch what you're saying to him though."
Navi turned to face him and he was staring straight ahead. She flew in front of his face angrily.
"Hey! Are you even listening to me?"
Link blinked in surprise.
"Yeah I was. I'm just trying to figure out what that owl meant."
Navi flew around his head.
"I wouldn't worry about it too much. Let's continue onward to the castle."
He nodded and started to walk forward. He immediately saw the girl from earlier running towards him. She had red hair and big blue eyes and she wore a worn white dress with a blue pattern around the bottom and around the ends of her sleeves. She stopped in front of him and looked at him excitably.
"Hello. My name is Malon. Why did that owl fly down in front of you? Was it actually talking to you? I heard another voice other than your own!"
Link smiled and held out his hand.
"Yes he was talking to me. My name is Link. This is my fairy partner Navi. That owl is Kaepora Gaebora and he is the only talking owl I've ever seen in my life. There's something odd about him other than the fact that he can speak."
Malon shook his hand.
"Nice to meet you Link, and you too, Navi. That was quite the amazing encounter! Maybe it's a good thing that I met you. I need your help with something."
Navi flew forward.
"What is it, Malon? Do you want us to track down that owl? We don't know where he lives, so we might not be able to help much."
Malon giggled and shook her head.
"Hee hee! You're a funny fairy! No, that's not what I need help with. I need you to find my dad. He went to deliver milk to the castle and he hasn't come back yet. I swear, if he fell asleep again, he's going to be in a lot of trouble!"
Link smirked. He couldn't imagine the small girl getting angry at her father. He hastily agreed.
"Okay it's a deal. I've got to go to the castle anyway."
Malon cocked here head to one side.
"How are you going to get in exactly? The castle is probably heavily guarded. The guards won't even let me go to the castle with me dad. Can you believe that?"
Link cleared his throat.
"I don't want to go into great details right now, but I know how to get inside. I'm going to get moving now. I'll find your dad and send him out this way."
He started to walk straight ahead. The path started to turn sharply to the right. He could hear Malon calling from behind him.
"Best of luck! I hope you get in the castle and find my dad!"
He didn't get far down the path because it was blocked by a large gate. A guard was standing beside it. Upon seeing Link, he walked up in front of him.
"Begone, kid! Nobody is allowed in the castle without special permission. If you haven't got one, be on your way!"
Link tried to reason with him. He tried to explain about Malon's dad.
"There is a small girl out here looking for her father. Can I got through and find him?"
The guard scratched his chin thoughtfully.
"A small girl...Oh! You mean Talon the ranch owner? I thought he would be back by now. He came through here a few hours ago. How long does it take to deliver milk? Half the time, we find him asleep for three to six hours at a time He shouldn't make his kid wait like that! Listen kid, I still can't let you through. I will tell the other soldiers about him. Now, tell the small girl that her father will be sent out shortly and be on your way!"
Link stood his ground.
"Listen, I need to get through here. Princess Zelda summoned me here. She wants to meet with me and talk to me."
The guard groaned. How stupid did he think he was? He glared down at Link.
"Go away, kid! You're starting to get on my nerves! I've heard enough of your lies."
Link blurted out a reply.
"I'm even trying to honor a last request! I traveled from Kokiri Forest. The Great Deku Tree died and his last request was for me to talk to the princess."
The guard shook his head. This kid just wouldn't give up.
"Look, kid. I might get in trouble if I let you through. Captain Viscin would likely have my head. Besides, I don't want to get fired and end up being a cleaning servant again. That was the worst job ever. Cleaning every room of that old castle took all day! I was lucky. They were looking for new guards. I signed up immediately. Anything to get me away from all that darn cleaning! I don't want to go back to that life. Listen, if you want to go through that badly, I'll let you through. But it's going to cost you a lot."
Link sighed and put a hand in his pocket and brought forth the five purple rupees Charlie had given him. The guard's eyes lit up with greed.
"Ooh. Look at all that money! Give me 100 rupees and I'll let you pass."
Link sighed and handed him two purple rupees. The guard grinned. He put the money in his pocket and opened the gate.
"It was a pleasure doing business with you, kid. Remember, don't tell a soul about this. If you get caught, I will deny ever meeting you. Get moving quickly before somebody comes!"
Link walked out on the other side of the gate. He saw four guards on the path leading to the castle. He would be caught for sure if he took the path. Navi sighed.
"This is just great! How are we going to do this, Link?"
Link groaned.
"This is going to be tricky. I need you to keep quiet while I make my way through here carefully. Why don't you sit in my hat while I'm busy?"
Navi was saddened.
"What? You don't want my help at all?"
Link sighed.
"It's not that. Your light will attract the guards and most important of all, I don't want you accidently raising your voice."
Navi nodded understandingly.
"I understand, Link. I'll do what you ask."
Link smiled as he took off his hat. Navi flew up and landed on his head. He then put his hat back on and she then crawled up into his hat. His hat emitted a very faint glow, barely bright enough to be noticed. He looked around and assessed the situation. The main path was out. Too many guards patrolling it. He looked to the left of the path. There were a lot of trees to dart behind. The problem was that there were a lot of guards around. He would be spotted for sure! He stomped his foot down in frustration. How was he going to pull this off? Then his foot kicked something hard. He looked down and realized it was a rock. Of course! He would throw a rock and distract the guards while he ran through unnoticed. He picked up the rock and threw it into some long grass It did the trick! One guard heard the commotion and called the others over.
"Hey fellas! There's something over here. Let's check it out for a minute."
The other three guards followed him to see what was going on. That's when Link made his move. He made a mad dash straight ahead. Unfortunately, he ran into a dead end! There was a high cliff in front of him. He looked around and he could hear the guards returning. He pounded his fist on the wall in anger. He had to do something! Otherwise, he was going to get caught and tossed out. That's when he noticed it, a rough vine growing up the wall. With out giving it a second thought, he grabbed a hold of it and started climbing quickly. He made it to the top just in time! A guard was standing just below the cliff. He sighed quietly. Nobody seemed to notice him. He smiled and turned around. He could see the castle moat and a pathway in front of it. He also saw the main entrance. It was closed and there were two guards on either side of it. Suddenly, the castle door opened and the guards walked in. As soon as they were inside, the gate shut again. This was perfect! There were no guards between him and the right side of the castle. He carefully jumped down the cliff and followed the pathway until he was around the right side of the castle. He stopped and gasped. There was a large man wearing red and blue overalls laying on the ground and snoring loudly! Link assumed that this was Malon's father Talon. There were a few big crates beside him. Link figured that it was the milk. The guards must have got too busy to get it inside the castle. He knelt down in front of Talon and shook him gently.
"Sir? Can you wake up? Your daughter sent me to find you."
Talon grumbled.
"Go away. Let me sleep."
Link tried again.
"Your daughter is worried about you. She is still waiting for you outside the castle gate."
Talon sat up and opened his eyes wide.
"Malon's waiting for me? Darn it! I did it again. I fell asleep here and made her wait for me. She's going to be so angry with me! I'm not waiting for the soldiers anymore. Let THEM put away the milk. My delivery is done and I'm getting out of here. Thanks a lot, kid!"
He took off running. Link laughed quietly. What a crazy guy, delivering milk and then falling asleep, making his daughter wait for him! Link looked around at his surroundings. There was a back door where he assumed the guards handled deliveries. He tried to open it. It was locked tight. Then he remembered Zelda's words. There was a drain around here somewhere where he could apparently crawl into. He looked at the far wall and he spotted it right away. There was a small wooden door that served as a drain and it was open just enough for him to crawl under! There was even a small ladder leading upwards to it! The ladder must have been put there in case it ever had to be opened or fixed from the outside. He jumped into the moat and climbed the ladder. When he was up to the top, he crawled under the wooden door and made his way into the castle.
It was nearly dark and Charlie and Max were still at the shooting gallery. It was getting close to closing time, but they were starting to get bored anyway. They both played five rounds each, but neither of them could score perfect. Max got close a couple times, but not quite. They decided to return to the inn. Charlie and Max both still had 50 rupees. They waved at the owner and walked out. They both had a good time, but they were wondering how their pal Link was doing. Did he make it into the castle? Or did he end up getting caught by the guards? Charlie was starting to get worried.
"I wonder how Link is doing? I hope he didn't end up getting caught."
Max smiled.
"I highly doubt it. Link has gotten more brave and less troublesome ever since he got here and took on the role of the hero. I think this is just what he needed. He seems like a completely different person now, not like the Tom who used to pull pranks on us all the time. Anyway, let's get back to the inn. I bet as soon as he gets back , that will be the first place he looks."
They both started to walk towards the inn. Max spotted movement in the corner of his left eye. He gulped nervously. He turned to Charlie and whispered.
"This isn't a good time to have no guards around here. We are being followed by two people, Charlie."
Charlie gasped and whispered back nervously.
"What do we do now, Max?"
He frowned.
"Just keep moving and don't look back. We'll be to the inn in no time."
Charlie and Max quickened their pace towards the inn. The two assailants moved quicker as well. They jumped at Charlie and Max and knocked them flat on their faces. They tried to move, but they were pinned to the ground tightly. Charlie managed to gasp out at the two attackers.
"Who are you? What do you want from us?"
They didn't reply. Instead, they clubbed both Charlie and Max over the heads and knocked them out cold.
When Charlie and Max woke up, they realized that they couldn't move. They turned their heads slightly and noticed that their arms and legs were bound with heavy rope. Max took a quick glance at their surroundings. It looked like a well furnished house, but who exactly was behind this kidnaping? The front door suddenly opened behind them and two figures walked in. The smaller figure lit a candle while the other larger figure looked at their captives. The two figures were cloaked so only their eyes were showing. Both had weird yellowish eyes. They removed their cloaks and Charlie and Max both gasped in surprise. One of them was a gerudo! She looked exactly the same as the one that chased them through town! She was dressed completely in red. The other figure was a big muscular male. He was wearing black armor and he had green skin! He also had some sort of jewel on his forehead. He had dark red hair and he looked very dangerous.
Max tried to speak to them.
"My name is Max and this is Charlie. Why have you done this to us? What do you want?"
The big man grinned evilly.
"Shut up, kid! Only speak when you are spoken to."
Charlie spoke up.
"Let us go right now!"
The one smaller gerudo walked up to Charlie and kicked him roughly.
"You heard my master. Don't talk unless you've been asked to. We have no intention of letting you two go. You are responsible for getting my twin sister thrown in jail!"
Max glared at her.
"Twin sister? What the heck are you talking about? That gerudo that chased us was your sister?"
She nodded.
"That's right! Saska is my sister. My name is Jaska. You two had better get some rest. You're going to help us with a jail break! You're going to help me get my sister out of jail.
Charlie was shocked.
"We will do such a thing!"
Jaska shook her head slowly.
"That's too bad. You must really want to die then."
Max struggled against his bonds.
"We don't want to die!"
The big muscular man laughed insanely.
"Then I suggest you do as we ask of you without arguing or complaining. I will kill you if you disobey. My name is Ganondorf Dragmire and I am the king of gerudo thieves. I will turn you both into a pile of ash if you don't help. Observe my power!"
He pointed to a nearby chair. He then held out his hand. It started to glow and a ball of fire formed. After it formed completely, he threw it with a roar. It hit the chair and it shattered into many pieces. Large splinters of wood flew everywhere. He grinned and turned to Charlie and Max.
"Unless you want to end up like that chair, you'll do exactly what I say. Now, get some rest! You have a big heist ahead of you."
Jaska and Ganondorf left the house and the two captives were left alone with mixed thoughts. Was there any way to get out of this mess? What happened if they accidently did something wrong? Charlie started to cry.
"What are we going to do, Max? If we don't help break that thief out, we can kiss our lives goodbye!"
Max sighed heavily.
"Then that's exactly what we're going to do."
Charlie sniffed.
"Are you crazy? You're actually going to help them?"
Max glared at him.
"Have you got a better idea? It's better than being killed. I know it's the wrong thing to do, but nobody's around to help us out. If we get caught, at least it will be better than being around those two. Are you with me, Charlie?"
He sniffed and nodded.
"Yeah I guess. We're both in this together. I guess I'd rather be on the wrong side of the law than be killed by that maniac."
They both lied there on the floor of the empty house, awaiting the return of their captors.
When Link crawled out of the hole, he looked around. He was in some sort of garden! Link noticed that there were still lots of guards around. There were a lot of tall shrubs. Link used them to his advantage and hid behind them to avoid detection. He kept moving forward dashing from shrub to shrub. He rounded a corner and he was almost caught! He almost didn't see the guard patrolling a rectangular section of shrubs. He quickly hid behind the nearest shrub. When the guard passed, Link allowed him to get further away and quietly followed behind him, dashing behind shrubs when necessary. After following him, Link found an entranceway. He went inside and noticed there were a lot of flowers growing all around him. He figured he was in the castle courtyard. He looked ahead and he saw Princess Zelda looking into a window!
Ganondorf sighed. After locking those kids up, he knew he wasn't going to make it back to the castle by foot on time for the King of Hyrule's meeting. He made it back to the castle using a secret teleport spell only he knew. The Gerudo King and the King of Hyrule were planning on signing a peace treaty in a couple of days. Ganondorf claimed he wanted to share his resources with Hyrule. He also apologized for some of his comrades. They were apparently stealing from folks in the castle town and whatnot. Ganondorf claimed he had no knowledge of these activities. The King of Hyrule told the gerudo king he believed him, but the Hyrule king didn't exactly trust him.
Link looked around at the beautiful courtyard. It was well maintained. Suddenly, a soldier spotted Link through a window in the courtyard. He ran into the courtyard and confronted Link. The soldier had fancy, polished steel armor. He also wore a fancy red velvet cloak. He glared down at Link.
"Hold it, lad! You're not supposed to be in here. How did you get in here?"
Upon hearing the disturbance, Princess Zelda turned around. Upon seeing Link, she smiled. He made it here! She walked up to Link and the soldier. The soldier looked at the princess.
"I caught this lad in here. What do you want done with him, ma'am?"
Zelda smiled at the soldier.
"Let him go, Captain Viscen."
Viscen scratched his head.
"Release him? But why? He broke into the castle! Why in the world should I release him?"
Zelda glared at him..
"Because this is Link and I summoned him here! No guards are to touch him. He is under my protection."
Viscen nodded. He wasn't about to interfere with the strange visions of the princess.
"As you wish, ma'am. I'll guard the entrance to the entrance to the courtyard."
Zelda turned her attention to Link.
"I'm glad you finally made it, Link. I wasn't sure if my telepathy would work or not, but I'm glad it did."
Upon hearing the commotion, Navi squirmed inside Link's hat.
"Mph! Let me out of here, Link."
Link too his hat off and Navi flew out and looked around and smiled.
"So, you made it into the castle after all! Way to go, Link."
Zelda laughed.
"So, this is your fairy! Hello, my name is Zelda."
Navi giggled.
"Hi. My name is Navi. Nice to meet you, princess."
Link readily agreed.
"Yes. It's nice to finally meet you in person, Zelda. "
She folded her arms.
"Likewise. In my dreams, I saw you. I saw something strange that I couldn't identify and shortly after, I saw you exit Kokiri Forest with the Kokiri Emerald. You do have it, don't you?"
Link reached into his pocket and brought forth the Kokiri Emerald. Zelda laughed.
"So, my visions were right after all. Would you be able to clarify something for me? There was something strange I saw and it happened with your friends too. Did something weird happen to you and your friends?"
He nodded.
"Yeah. I ended up falling into another dimension. I'm from another world entirely, so are my friends."
Zelda frowned.
"I see... That would explain the strange things I saw. I saw a glowing green portal in a big forest. You looked completely different than you do now. When you got stuck in the portal and ended up here, it changed your appearance. It never affected your friends though. Have you ever thought of returning to your own world one day?"
Link shook his head.
"No way. I'm really starting to like it here. There isn't any technology of any kind, but that's okay. This world is amazing and it's full of amazing people too. Like your captain for instance."
Zelda flashed him a beaming smile.
"I'm glad to hear you say that, Link. I hope you and your friends find eternal happiness in this world. Now, I sensed that you were having bad prophetic dreams and I have something that helps suppress them entirely. Hold out your hand."
Link did as he was told and Zelda put a very fancy necklace in his hand. It was gold with a big red jewel in the center. He put it around his neck and it glowed brightly for a brief moment and then it subsided. Zelda nodded with satisfaction.
"There! You shouldn't have any problems from those dreams now. When you do dream, they will be normal dreams. I saw your dream and the man who shot you with magic is named Ganondorf. Your dream proved to me that I was right about him all along. Eventually, he is going to betray us. I need your help before that happens. You must go and collect the other two Spiritual Stones and return here with them. He is after the Triforce of the Sacred Realm, the relic that the gods Din, Farore and Nayru created. Those stones are keys to the stone door in the Temple of Time. You mustn't let anything happen to that stone you got! It plays a very important role in the Temple of Time. That building was built many years ago and according to legend, that is the entrance to the Sacred Realm. But it is locked with a door called The Door of Time. Legends say that in order to open it, one must have three spiritual stones. And the other relic is the legendary Ocarina of Time! I need you to find the other two spiritual stones! Don't worry about the Ocarina of Time, I'll keep it locked up tight. Now, I am going to give you a letter! I'm sure it will be useful! It has my signature, so people you show it to should listen to you!"
Link held the letter and glanced over her shoulder and through the window. He gasped. The man from his dream was in there! He glared at Link. He backed away. Zelda's face was full of concern.
"What's the matter, Link?"
His hand was shaking. He pointed at the window.
"Ganondorf, the man from my dream. I just saw him, and he saw me!"
Zelda had a serious tone to her voice.
"Don't worry about him, Link. He isn't aware that we are about to foil his evil plans and desires! Now, my attendant Impa just entered the courtyard. I need you to talk to her and get on with your quest."
Link turned around and walked up to the tall, white haired woman. She grinned.
"So, you are the one the princess contacted. She told me that you were the only one that could help us. I'm going to teach you a song and then, I'll get you out of here. Do you have an ocarina?"
Link pulled out his ocarina. He had completely forgotten about it. Impa showed him how to play.
"Take it out and I will teach you how to play. See there is four small holes and one bigger hole for the fingers? Well, gently blow into the ocarina and as you do, put your fingers on the small holes in this order: Left, up, and right."
Link did what Impa told him to do, and he played Zelda's Lullaby!
"That was great, Link! Now, let me lead you out of the castle!"
Link held onto Impa's hand and they teleported right out of the castle! Impa walked towards Castle town with Link following behind.
