Kurt ran to the other block, where his dorm room was. He locked the door behind and stood still, panting heavily. He took a deep breath as he was trying to fight the tears in his eyes.
He was staying at this small place on weekdays. Dalton Academy was two hours away from Lima, which made driving back home everyday and catching up the strict schedule of the school at the same time literally impossible. So, this room was his safe zone. All of the furniture were simple yet elegant. A mahogany bed with matching nightstands, a medium sized wardrobe, a desk with lots of textbooks on it and a huge vintage pier glass mirror.
Kurt sighed and pulled his red striped tie away from his neck. He tried to collect his thoughts together. Of course he was diva, he was enjoying attention and spotlights. His performance at the audition was nearly perfect. He was sure that he was going to kill it, but somehow he failed.
Then the fair boy realized that wasn't the thing making his chest hurt so much. He and Rachel were rivals when it comes to solos and they used to argue about it almost everyday. Competition was like a daily routine for them. No, this pain was not about success or defeat. It was Blaine. Kurt realized his cheeks were damp.

He was broken. Blaine was always so kind, noble, protective, caring, inspiring and couraging. But the words he chose... "We all wear uniforms around here... You are not going to make it as a Warbler if all you care about is getting noticed" And his impression...
Sobbing hysterically, Kurt collapsed to the floor. He pulled his knees to his chest. His heart was burning with agony. He closed his eyes and just wished to stay on the floor forever, fading away and turning into dust.

When Kurt opened his eyes it was dark outside. It took a few moments before he realized what had happened was real. He tried his best not to cry again and crawled to the nightstand searching for his cellphone. It was already nine. He didn't care the fact that he had missed his last two classes and also dinner. Trying to gain his balance back and stand still, he went to his small bathroom. As he clung both sides of the ceramic sink, he looked at his gorgeously devastated reflection. His eyes were red, his hair was a mess. "Who cares?" Kurt thought. After he let the cold water hit his pale cheeks hard, Kurt returned to his bedroom.

Blaine was sitting silently, holding his curly head between his hands.

"What happened between you two?"
David asked.
"I screwed it up"
"How?"
"I said I screwed it!"
"Blaine..."
"No, I really did. He will never talk to me again"
"Hey, look at me. You're acting like a five year old. You're a grown up man. Just go and apologize"
"I don't know how to do it. I don't fuckin' know what possessed me when I was talking to him. I was so mean to Kurt!"

He had been replaying that scene in his head over and over again.

"You didn't see his face, his expression. After all he had been through..."
"Can I ask you a... weird question?" David asked quietly.
"Go ahead"
"Do you care about him?"
"Of course I do! He's my best friend!
"I'm not talking about that kind of..."
"Please David, not again!"
"I'm serious Blaine. If he's really that important just go and talk to him before it's too late"

Blaine stood up.

Kurt was laying on his grey cotton sheets, staring at the ceiling blankly when he heard the gentle knocks on the door.
"Kurt?"
Silence.
"Kurt I know you're there"
More silence.
"Kurt just please open the door. We need to talk"

He couldn't resist the pleading sound of Blaine's voice. Young boy pretended like he just woke up and slowly walked to the door. Blaine was standing outside. His eyes were red too. His hair was messy and he was wearing nothing but an old pyjama bottom and a Star Wars t-shirt.
"Are you okay?" he asked hesitantly.
"Sure, why not?" he lied.
"May I come in?"
Kurt didn't respond. Instead, he turned his back and walked into his room again, leaving the door open. Blaine took it as a yes and stepped in.

"You didn't come to dinner" Blaine said, it sounded more like a question. "I brought you some snacks"
"Thank you" Kurt simply replied. But inside, he was screaming .
"Kurt.. I know I was..." The taller boy turned to him and opened his mouth as he was about to say something but Blaine stopped him. "No, please let me finish first, then say whatever you want to say to me. I can't blame you if you never want to talk to me again"

Kurt's eyes widened. Blaine kept talking fast and animatedly:

"I was mean to you today. And I'm so, so sorry about it. I chose the wrong words to express myself. Bad ones. But actually I was mad at the other guys because of not choosing you"
"What? I mean, how?" Kurt asked, forgetting his pain and anger but still keeping the distance between them.
"Look, your performance was amazing. Your voice is unique. You blew my mind. All of us. But.."
"Blaine, thank you for your sincere compliments but I really want to know why I failed today"
"Failed? You didn't fail Kurt! It's just, you know we're all about acapella! We rearrange songs into acapella. Your voice is so strong and amazing that... We're not good enough to sing along with you like that!" Kurt chuckled.
With a sigh of relief, Blaine came closer and held Kurt's hand.

"So you're not mad at me"
"You broke my heart"
"How can I make it up to you?"
"Mm.. I've to think about it"

Blaine pouted.

"Don't you dare to look at me with those dapper puppy eyes!"

Kurt felt a sudden urge to push the thick curls falling over Blaine's forehead. He couldn't resist. Kurt leaned closer and reached out to his hair.
He was so close that he could feel Blaine's warm breath over his face.
Blaine blushed.

"I'll never going to break your heart again" gazed into Kurt's eyes, whispering.
"I hope so" Kurt panted, thinking "Oh.. My.."

Fair boy was melting into those honey-amber eyes. His heart was racing. He tried to escape from Blaine's gaze and turned his eyes to the floor...

"OH MY!"
"What!"
"Blaine Anderson, you're barefeet!"
He smiled broadly, Kurt couldn't take his eyes off from his perfectly shaped mouth and beautiful teeth.
"I rushed out of my room. I guess I can borrow a pair from you?"
"You're such a perky little boy Blaine!"
"So, is it a yes?"
"Second drawer"
"Thank you so much Mr. Hummel"
"You're welcome Mr. Anderson" Kurt giggled.

"Blaine. You brought me Redvines"
"I love Redvines"
"For dinner? Really?" Kurt rolled his eyes.
"Okay, you know what? I'm going straight to cafeteria right now, it's open until ten. I still have fifteen minutes. I'll get whatever I find and bring back here. Then..."
"Then?"
"Then we're going have an indoor picnic!"
"Then run! I'm starving!" Kurt commanded.

Kurt watched Blaine running down the hall, wishing he would never break his heart again.
