Author's Note: I know that the characters in Twilight aren't supposed to know that Riley is also behind Victoria's plan until later, but since this is my story, I'm going to change that. I hope you don't mind! Thanks for reading and please leave a review :) Sorry for updating late again. I recently started university (I'm a freshman!) and so everything's been crazy. I hope you enjoy reading!
A week later, I was back at Sam and Emily's house. The pack was having a discussion in the living room so Emily and I decided to join in with them.
"So apparently," Jacob announced, "the one who is responsible for the sudden chain of murders around here is this bloodsucker named Victoria."
"She's the one that we chased off our territory last night, right?"
"That's right, Jared," Sam answered with a short nod.
"Well, what does she want with Bella?"
"She wants revenge. The Cullens had to destroy her partner, James because he was a dangerous tracker who was after Bella," Sam explained to all of us.
"Did they tell you why my brother is supposedly involved with this. . . Victoria?" I asked the first question that came to my head.
"They said Alice had a vision. . ." Sam paused before continuing. It looked like he was silently preparing me for what he was going to say next. "Victoria is starting a newborn army. She's determined to avenge the death of James by killing Bella and it seems like Riley is in charge of leading them."
I froze in shock. "What? How is that possible?" I mumbled to myself. Had my brother become an evil minion of some sort? I couldn't believe it.
"Geez, vampires create so much drama in our lives," Seth complained.
"Don't you love it though? It gives us such a thrill."
Sam shook his head in disapproval at Embry's carelessness. "For now, we are planning on staying peaceful," he spoke in a serious manner, "but that might all change soon. It depends on what we have coming our direction. We may be forced to make a pact with the Cullens if things escalate and I do believe that they will."
"Yeah, obviously. I mean this bitch is building a newborn army. That's some crazy shit right there," Jared exclaimed which earned him a dark look from his alpha. "I'm just saying!"
"No way. We are not teaming up with vampires," Paul protested with a dirty look on his face.
"We'll end up having to do it if we want to protect the people," Sam said with authority and Paul finally shut up. I guess Paul had a weak spot. He wanted to be a protector, or maybe it was just because Sam was able to control him that he had calmed down.
"You know, after hearing what you guys were discussing today, I realized how serious this whole situation is. I'm worried now because I'm sort of believing that Riley actually might not be the same anymore," I told Jacob my concerns. "What if he really is a merciless monster?"
"You're thinking too much. Again. It's too early to have thoughts like those." Jacob gave me a small smile as he tried reassuring me that everything was going to be okay. "A few days ago you could barely even believe the fact that he became a vampire so stop thinking about it, at least for now."
I released a short sigh before reluctantly agreeing. "Fine. . . So when are you getting off from your patrol today? Do you want to come over later and hang out? You know, help me take my mind off of things?"
"I'm supposed to be out on patrol for the whole night, but I can change that."
"What? No, I can't let you do that," I told him. "If you were already scheduled-"
"Cecelia, it's fine," Jacob interrupted me. He gave me a big smile letting me know that it really would be okay if he shortened his patrol.
This time, Jacob had driven me to La Push and back to Forks using his truck so my car had been left alone in the garage throughout the whole morning. After I was dropped off, I stood in the driveway and waved until I could no longer see his vehicle. Jacob and I had grown a lot closer over the past few weeks and every day I felt lucky for meeting him.
Once I went inside, I greeted the small figure that was standing in the kitchen. "Hey Mom."
She had once again arrived home late and had to sleep in so I had expected her to be up around this time since it was already noon. I was glad that she was awake now because I needed to ask her something.
"Good morning, even though it's not morning anymore." She chuckled making me smile along with her. It was nice to see her happy even when she was going through a lot of trouble emotionally everyday. "So where did you go?"
"Uh, I was over at Jacob's house," I replied and my mom immediately gave me a frown. "What?" I asked.
"I'm just. . . Worried about you. Come on, take a seat." My mom motioned her hand for me to sit in the chair in front of her.
"Mom. . ." I said uncertainly. "Please don't tell me that we're going to have. . . The talk?"
I was scared. I definitely did not feel like having "the talk" with my mom. That would be just plain awkward. I had already learned everything that I needed to know like most teens during health class at school and I didn't think it was necessary to have my mom give me a repetitive lecture on how to be careful during my young years.
"Sorry, but we are going to have 'the talk,'" my mom said sternly. "You've been hanging around Jacob a lot and I can't stop feeling concerned for you."
"Mom. Jacob and I aren't even dating so we're definitely not-No, I'm not even, ugh I haven't-Gah I can't. Can we please not talk about this? I don't want to talk to my mom about this kind of personal stuff." I could hear the frustration in my own voice.
"Then who are you going to talk to about personal stuff?" My mom raised an eyebrow.
"My friends?"
"Yeah, and that's a great idea. Just go around asking other teenagers for advice," she said sarcastically. "Look, I haven't met this Jacob kid yet and so I can't trust him."
"Mom, he's a really nice guy. You don't have to worry about him taking advantage over me. I swear, I'm innocent!"
"I just want to make sure that you understand that it's not a great idea to be having a sexual relationship during high school and if you are, you should remember to-"
"Mom!" I cut her off. "I know you still think of me as your little daughter, but you have to trust me. I mean, the truth is. . . I've already had a few boyfriends before. I just never told you. . ." I revealed.
My mom looked like I had just slapped her across the face, like I had just betrayed her.
"Sorry?" I added unsurely. "I've never had sex though! I promise," I told her, trying to make things better. "And I'm not going to carelessly give my virginity away so don't worry, okay?"
It was funny how this conversation had escalated so quickly. At first, I didn't even want to bring up the word "sex" in front of my mom, but she was misunderstanding me so I had no choice but to reveal the truth. Because my mom was always so overprotective, I had always went on dates behind her back. I wasn't lying when I told her that I was still a virgin though because I really was still a virgin.
"Cecelia!" she exclaimed. "You lied to me?"
"Well, I knew that you wouldn't let me go out with any boy so I had to. Mom, you have to learn to trust me. If you do, I swear our mother and daughter relationship will get a lot better."
My mom sighed. "You're right. I guess I am a bit. . . Controlling."
You have no idea, I thought.
"Well," my mom continued. "It's good to know that you're being responsible and taking care of your own body. I'll try my best to let you feel a little more independent from now on."
"Does that mean that you're going to be okay with me having Jacob over tonight?"
"What?" my mom exclaimed again. "No! I'm not going to allow you to be alone with some boy in this house late at night without my supervision."
"But you just admitted that I'm pretty responsible and that you'd let me do more stuff on my own from now on." I pointed out.
"That's not what I exactly said, but I guess that's somewhat of it."
"So then it's okay, right?"
"Yeah, no- You're tricking me, aren't you?" My mom chuckled.
"I promise. There will be nothing fishy going on between me and him so you don't have to worry."
My mom sighed. "Alright. You can have him over."
"Yes, thank you!" I hugged her tightly.
"I'd like to meet him some time though."
"Okay, I'll let him know." Ha, no I won't let him now. It would be so uncomfortable for him with my mom asking questions about his background since she could be very judgmental.
After I shared a package of pop tarts and drank some milk for a late lunch (for my mom it was breakfast), I entered my room and started working on my homework. It was a Saturday, which was the day I finished my school work every weekend. Most of my friends finished their homework on Fridays or on Sundays because that meant they could either get it over with and play hard or have fun first and procrastinate until the last day, but I could never bring myself to do either.
It was around 8:50pm when my mom started getting ready to leave for work. "It's almost 9 o'clock and he's still not here. How late are you two planning on staying up? Is his dad okay with this?" my mom asked in a demanding way.
"Yeah, his dad will be okay with it. Um, he's pretty cool about things. . ." I trailed off. Actually, he knows that his son is a shape-shifter and so he understands that he is someone who can protect himself and lets him do things without permission.
"Alright, if you say so. Oh by the way, make sure to lock the door after he leaves, okay? And don't-"
"Mom, I'm not a kid anymore," I interrupted her before she could list a bunch of things I needed to do before going to sleep. "Besides, I've been fine being here alone every night for a long time. What's going to change?"
"Yes, I know, but it's just with all of these. . . Animal attacks increasing every day. . . I just want to be cautious, that's all."
Yeah, don't worry Mom. While Jacob's here, there's no chance that I'll be attacked by an "animal" aka vampire.
"I'll be okay! Stop worrying," I assured her.
"Alright alright. I'm going to go then." She patted me on the shoulder. "I'll see you tomorrow, honey."
It was strange because a lot of people like my friends and my relatives seemed to feel bad for me. Only because I was living a life where my mom was often not at home. To be honest though, they didn't have to feel bad for me, but for my mom. She was a single mom working her butt off every day. Being a doctor could be annoying, dealing with so many types of people, but she loved her job. I guess it was because of how much work she put into becoming a doctor, such as lots of years in school. The hospital was also where my mom and dad had first met. Going to work always brought her back memories I bet.
Being a junior in high school, I had time left before college, but I knew that it was going to fly by too fast. I still didn't know where I wanted to go and what I wanted to do. A major dilemma for teenagers all around the world. I knew I needed to start preparing my thoughts though. Next year I would be in my last year of high school, which meant that I would have to start applying for universities. I didn't know if I wanted to do that. I felt insecure not knowing my future. I understood that this was a common thing going around between all teenagers and also other young adults, but I still felt scared.
But for now, I would have to wrap up my thoughts because I knew that Jacob would arrive any minute. I didn't know why, but I began feeling jumpier by the second as I waited for him. It was strange how every time I saw him, I still felt nervous. Maybe it was because I liked him too much. I wanted to be able to feel relaxed and normal around him. Hopefully tonight was going to be the perfect time to try.
It was 9:46 when the doorbell rang. I opened the door to a familiar looking tall figure: Jacob. "Hey, welcome to the rest of my house," I told him with a laugh. It was a joke because he had only been into my room (which was unknown to my mom). Oh yeah, Seth had been inside my room as well. My mom didn't have to know though. . .
"Thanks," Jacob answered as he cautiously stepped through my house. Like always, he towered over me due to his height. "Nice house."
"I'll let my mom know that you like it," I said smiling. "She practically did all of the decorations in this house."
"Wow." Jacob nodded as he admired the place. "So um, I was wondering. . . Do you think your mom would like me if she ever saw me?"
". . . Like approve of you?" I asked, restating his question to clear it up.
"Yeah."
"She has to. I mean you complimented the house."
"Come on, I'm being serious over here."
I laughed. "Alright. Well in that case, let me tell you that she probably will. . . Like you." At least I hope she does because I really like you. A lot. Of course I didn't say this out loud.
"So, are you up for some pizza?" I asked.
"Yeah, that sounds great. I'm so hungry," Jacob answered causing me to chuckle.
"Good, because I ordered a lot of pizza."
"How much?" he asked, raising an eyebrow.
"You'll see."
Jacob started laughing as soon as we entered the kitchen. "What?" I asked.
"I'm so glad you know my secret," he said, and I immediately knew that he was talking about how I was aware of how much shape-shifters ate.
I had ordered four boxes of pizza and when the delivery guy came, he looked at me strangely as he saw how empty my house was. "Um, I'm having a huge party," I told him, which I shouldn't have because it made it seem more obvious that I was lying.
"O…kay…" he had answered as he observed me. To escape the awkwardness, I quickly handed him the money and tried ushering him out. "Have a good night!"
"Yeah, thanks. You too," I said and groaned as soon as I shut the door. The delivery guy was probably going to have an amusing story to share now with his friends about how he had seen a small girl who was going to eat four boxes of pizza by herself.
Jacob almost had a laughing attack after I told him about my incident with the pizza dude. "That's hilarious. He was probably thinking, 'What kind of girl eats so much pizza on her own?'"
"Stop laughing. It was very embarrassing," I said, my face heating up in humiliation.
"Alright, sorry." He suddenly became serious. "I'll order the pizza next time."
Now I started laughing. It was cute how he changed from laughing to being serious in less than a couple of seconds to make sure that I wasn't offended.
"What's so funny?" he asked, oblivious to what I was thinking.
"Nothing."
"I don't think it's nothing."
"Fine, I was just laughing in appreciation."
"For?" Jacob asked, wanting me to continue.
"For having a really nice person like you in my life."
"Oh, wow thank you. I feel so honored. I would like to thank my family and friends-"
I started laughing again, cutting off Jacob's "thank you" speech. It was definitely strange how compatible we were even though we met each other about a month ago. I wasn't complaining though. I was just really surprised. I had felt lonely before meeting him (even though I had my friends, Kendall and Lena) and I needed someone like him to hang out with.
As the two of us ate, I couldn't help but stare at Jacob. "What?" he asked as he glanced up.
"How do you eat all of that and not gain any weight?"
"Well, I have to run around all the time," Jacob stated the obvious fact. "And it's all in the wolf genes."
"You're so lucky."
"Does that mean you wish you were a werewolf?" he asked.
"It means that I wish I could be able to eat as much as you without caring about my weight and health."
"So then you would never want to be a shape-shifter?"
"I don't know. Maybe? It'd be different. . . But maybe in a good way," I told him. "You know what would be really cool? If a bite from one of you could make a human turn into a shape-shifter! Sort of like how vampires change, you know?"
Oops. I shouldn't have said that. I saw Jacob throwing daggers at me with his eyes. "It's what makes us different from them," he stated.
It was so weird how whenever we spoke about vampires, Jacob's world suddenly became full of hatred. He reacted differently from the rest of the pack. Sam seemed to be okay with vampires. He definitely didn't like them, but he wasn't going to harm them unless they actually broke a rule. On the other hand, Paul always got easily riled up about everything and vampires were one of these things. Embry, Jared, and Quil were big followers of Sam, but they seemed to be more competitive with vampires than hating them. Meanwhile, Seth was just the usual warm and open-minded Seth.
"Yeah, that's true. Um, so what kind of movies do you like?" I quickly changed the subject so Jacob would no longer have to think about vampires or "leeches" like he usually called them. I stood up and walked over to the shelf packed with movies placed by the TV. "We have lots of DVDs in this house. Do you like action, comedy, horror, or mysteries?" I asked, trying to give him choices that he would actually like.
"You can pick."
"But you're the guest. You should pick the movie," I insisted.
"Okay then." Jacob also got up to walk over to where I was standing. He began searching around until he found House 1510, a horror movie that I had seen only once. "I've always wanted to see this, but never got the chance. We can watch something else if you don't like scary stuff though." Jacob was always so considerate, but he didn't have to be this time. I was okay with watching horror movies. I would always watch them with Kendall and Lena whenever we had sleepovers.
"I can handle it," I assured him. "Let's watch it."
The beginning of the movie started with eerie music playing in the background. It was the scene where it showed the murders of the original family that used to live in the strange house.
Even though I was able to handle horror movies, I still got scared whenever I had to watch them. However, I couldn't focus on the film with Jacob sitting right next to me on the couch. Therefore, I wasn't scared. I didn't even know what was happening on the screen because I was so lost in my own thoughts.
For some reason, lately I had been encountering a lot of weird feelings. For example, whenever I had to say bye to Jacob, it was just hard. Although I knew that I was going to see him again the next day, I still didn't want him to go. It was a form of attachment, but it just felt really strange. These feelings were unfamiliar to me because I had never experienced anything like them before, but they were too strong to ignore.
I turned my head to see if Jacob was watching the movie, but he wasn't. He was watching me. I suddenly felt shy and uncomfortable under his gaze, but I decided to speak instead of looking away like I usually did. "You don't like the movie?"
"It's not bad," he said as he didn't break eye contact with me.
My eyes unconsciously drifted down to his lips. Is it bad that the first thought that came to my mind was, "They look so kissable"?
"Cecelia," he said my name in almost a whisper. I could see his Adam's apple moving as he looked like he was trying to calm himself down. "I'm not sure if I can live up to my own words."
"Huh?" I asked, almost in a daze.
"I don't think I can take things slow anymore."
Oh. I couldn't hide my facial expression as it revealed that I was surprised. "Then don't," I whispered, wanting something to finally happen between the two of us.
"You have no idea how your presence affects me." Jacob placed a hand on the side of my face, caressing it.
What happened next was unexpected. Even I surprised my own self. I pressed my lips against Jacob's and he immediately responded. I had imagined out first kiss together to be slow and soft, but it didn't happen that way. Our kiss was intense and it felt more like a make up kiss, like we had fought for days and were eagerly trying to fix our relationship. This was probably because we had wanted to kiss each other's lips for such a long time. We couldn't hold back anymore and I was glad. I felt Jacob's hand behind the back of my head, pulling me closer to him and our kiss intensified.

I can't believe people are reading it :o I feel so happy! Btw, Riley will appear soon. . . Or that's what I have planned for now at least. Maybe in a few chapters :)
