"So nice of you to drop by." Although his face always had his signature smirk and no other emotion, it was his blue eyes that made her feel uneasy. It was the way she looked at chocolates and Brad Pitt, the way Pam stared at Christian Louboutin and Chanel, it's the way you look at something you really…really want.
Here we go again…
Eric grinned as he noticed Sookie gulp obviously. "You look breath taking, Sookie." He stared her down, relishing in her chocolate brown eyes.
"Like you breathe." Sookie pushed him off with her hand, but it felt like pushing a boulder. She pushed away the thought of him as a human, working hard and swinging a sword in the old days. When he didn't budge, she walked past him and looked around, trying to put as much space away from him. "Where's Pam?"
Pam was her savior when it comes to Eric. Every time Eric got too close to her, by slowly crumbling her self-control, Pam always seem to be there to ruin their moment. It was a good thing; she could ruin a moment like nobody's business. And abruptly Eric would step back and walk away.
"A vampire in her age would not be able to handle the smell of faeries. Especially if there are two of them."
"What's with faerie smell? Do they smell bad?" Sookie crinkled her nose, trying to smell herself discreetly.
Eric walked towards Sookie and invaded her personal space once again. He took a deep breath, she was momentarily mortified. He wore the biggest grin as he spoke. "No, they smell delectable. Addicting even. Like you."
"There you are," Sookie patted his chest lightly. "I thought I wouldn't see creepy Eric this time. But I can't say I miss him." She walked away again, trying to keep herself look cool as a cucumber. "So, Godric couldn't make it. The Queen …Sophie Anne is it?" She didn't wait for his answer and continued talking. "She wanted to make a huge celebration for his visit. And he didn't want to make it look like he was disrespecting her…I guess. Godric told stories about her; she's a partier and a wild one. Like this one time, she bought—"
Eric watched Sookie ramble about the silly adventures of Sophie Anne Leclerq, he couldn't care less of what the Queen did, but it amused him how Sookie could be so talkative every time she wanted to put distance away from him. She didn't want to make it look like she was affected by him at all. But he could see it.
Sookie stopped talking abruptly when she heard something. She followed the couple of frantic thoughts and deduced that they were down in the basement. Eric watched her the whole time. Already knowing that she was using her gift.
She was in front of the door that led downstairs to the basement. Just staring at it. Although she promised Godric she could handle this, that she could help if they knew she was one of them, a part of her knew she might not be able to do this. She wasn't sure if she should go down there. She wasn't sure if she was ready. Sookie doubted herself, years and years of lessons and trainings should have prepared her for this. But this does not compare to what she was about to face.
"I see you've sensed them already. Shall we go down there and have a look then?" Eric whispered closely behind her. She felt his breath behind her neck; she shivered and took a deep breath, trying to cover up the gasp that had erupted in her chest. Stupid vampire speed. She didn't dare to move away, she couldn't and she didn't.
Sookie tipped her head to the side as she let Eric play with her hair, it was comforting her, distracting her from her anxiety. Sookie focused on his touch, it gave her the silence that she needed.
They both stood there, both unaware of how long they've stayed that way, both completely absorbed with each other's presence.
It was the sudden sound of a loud banging noise downstairs, is when they abruptly separate. Reluctantly, Sookie stepped back and let Eric open the door.
Sookie didn't know what to expect, but she really wasn't prepared to see what had been uncovered to her. There were two beautiful creatures, a man and a woman. Dressed in shiny and loose clothes, they had chains on their hands and feet, but they could walk around and pick up things, with restraint of course.
Eric had put cushions around, a large rug, a couch, food and wine. It still looked like a basement for torture, Eric had made sure to let them see the instruments he and Pam were planning to use on them in a faraway glass display. The male faerie (Claude; Sookie had assumed when she had read his mind) was pacing the floor like a madman and was thinking of a way to get out. The other one; Claudette was panicking like crazy.
Claude kept pacing, looking for a way for him and his sister to get out. But the moment he heard somebody else's thoughts, he swung his head around to see Sookie. At long last…
"Sookie!" He ran towards her awkwardly, but managed to still go to a long distance before Eric had him by the throat.
"You know of her?" Eric spat menacingly. Claude kept his chin up and stayed silent.
Sookie stood there, watching everything and unsure of what she should do. But then, a mind crept up in hers. Sookie. It's me Claude. I am a faerie. Just like you. We both are. It is urgent that you meet with your—
Claude! Are you sure we can even trust her? …she's with vampires! Claudette's mind spoke up, her eyes pleading with him.
I can hear you! Sookie shot at Claudette. Three of the faeries shut their minds, the moment Eric dropped Claude on the floor.
Claude landed on his side and coughed. Eric stepped over him and walked to Sookie, asking her who she wanted to question first.
"I'll talk to the guy." Sookie answered as she walked towards Claude; who sat down at the couch. Sookie chose another seat and dragged it until it was position in front of Claude. Eric was watching the whole time and decided to interrogate the girl. He sat next to her and chose to charm her instead. Almost instantly Claudette relaxed and even leaned into Eric. She laughed and giggled to what Eric had said.
Sookie rolled her eyes and decided to ignore their loud conversation. More like loud flirting.
I heard that. Claude piped back in, when he finally settled.
She asked him empty questions and Claude replied to them in the same manner. Apparently Claude still felt like he couldn't trust Eric. Sookie couldn't really blame him after how Eric almost choked him. They both spoke telepathically.
How do you know me? Sookie asked.
It is my mission to know. We have been looking forward you for a long time.
Why?
You are in danger.
Is this danger named Warlow?
Claude's face doesn't change. Yes. My sister Claudine, your fairy godmother. The one who has been trying to save you is dead. And she had appeared to us, this happens only if the eldest sibling dies. There was no hint of accusation in his tone just urgency.
I'm so sorry.
Claude nodded his head. She has been dead for weeks now. Only time will tell if Warlow would follow. He killed your fairy godmother, which means that Warlow had found her.
Just before Sookie could speak up, Claude's eyes shifted to Eric. You look tired. Long day?
Long flight. I went straight here after settling. But I'm fine.
I can sense your tired, maybe we should talk next time. What I have to tell you might be a bit too much for your condition right now.
Oh, I'm fine. Really.
Why don't you stretch a bit then? It might help. He then added, Faeries can pretty much sense auras too.
Sookie followed reluctantly, she stretched and noted that she did kind of feel tired and sore. She relaxed and stretched a bit more, especially her back. The seat she rode on the jet was new and stiff, she'd rather sit on an ass-beaten chair any day.
What Sookie didn't see was that the whole time she was talking to Claude; Eric was watching them very closely. He started noticing something was different when they both started talking in empty questions and answers. He concluded that their conversation had turned telepathically. Then, Sookie stretched.
Son of a bitch.
His eyes glazed over and everything seemed like a blur, except Sookie. She was a stunning little creature. When he had swept her hair to the side, she had left it that way; there he could easily see the skin that she was showing. The yellow sundress she wore had a tight sweetheart neckline and the way she sat, hitched her dress higher. She stretched her back, arms, and rolled her shoulders back. Arching and pushing her breasts forward.
And while Eric was distracted by Sookie's stretching, Claude took advantage of the diversion and flashes her every image and memory from Claudine; protecting and watching Sookie, her fight with Warlow, the dark portal, and finally her death. Claude then flashed his memories of Niall visiting and to protect Sookie, visions of Claudine showing up after her death and him visiting their residence.
Sookie gasped as every image flowed through her. She never felt anything like it. The images that flashed in her mind were short but it was as if she knew what happened before. It hurt her head like hell, but she needed this.
When Sookie whimpered at the end of the flashes, Eric tore through the room and grabbed Claude by the neck again. Intent on getting the answers from the fucker before he could finally break his neck. Claude cried out while Claudette kept screaming.
It took a while for Sookie to get her bearings back, but she stood up on wobbly legs and stumbled towards Eric. She touched his arm to stop him, feeling incredibly tired and drained.
"Eric, don't. Please." She whispered as she leaned into him. There they both felt the same electricity between them again and Eric gritted his teeth and ignored the sensation. Sookie was very weary and looked like she was about to pass out. "I'm fine. He just helped me out, please. Let him go."
He lowered Claude but kept his grip. "This is not over, faerie boy. When I get back, I want answers."
Claude nodded and was let go. His sister ran to hug Claude, crying in relief. Sookie asked telepathically if they were okay, Claude nodded still finding it difficult to talk. Eric held out his arm for Sookie to hold on, which she took gratefully before passing out.
30 minutes had passed, and it looked like Sookie wasn't going to wake up anytime soon. Eric watched over her as she slept In his office, occasionally looking up at her as he organized a few files on his desk. He imagined that when he made her his, this would be what it may look and feel like. Sookie would come to him at his office, after her work. He would of course greet her his way and let her rest as he worked around his office. He ignored his feelings for the tiny telepath and stayed focused on his mission, he couldn't afford having feelings. Not now. Not yet.
They had to go to home before dawn arrives.
The blanket he had draped over her would still be needed for the flight. He tucked the blanket around her and scooped her legs under her arms. He then proceeded to use the other arm for her to carry her back. He walked out of the club with Sookie in tow, leaving the doors closed with an automatic system lock. He flew slowly and carefully, as to not wake Sookie up. Eric would have driven, but with the Warlow case, he had to be careful. Flying was a safer way as to not leave any tracks, wind blew the trail off and hardly left scents.
Sookie and Godric's things were left inside his house before she went to Fangtasia. Of course, there were guards silently watching Sookie from afar before she was left alone. Eric had made sure of that.
Sookie must've felt cold and unconsciously snuggled closer to him. Savoring how close she was and feeling her warmth. He closed his and just felt the moment. Before remembering the reason why he couldn't have feelings for Sookie. His Sookie.
Eric and Pam had just flown from Shreveport to London for Sookie's birthday, and it took another delay for their package to come due to the large amount of gifts for Sookie. Pam came in complaining how Sookie's wardrobe lacked style. Godric and Eric both watched as the two ladies joyously run around opening packages.
But it appeared that it was not enough, and Pam wanted to take Sookie out for shopping. They were going shopping. In the past year, Pam and Sookie had grown closer and closer. And Pam spoiled her with endless clothes, shoes, jewelry and other things that Pam liked for Sookie.
Godric offered a wine glass filled with blood to Eric, and noticed that his progeny seemed to be…elated. "You are devoted to her." Godric smiled as he patted Eric on the shoulder.
Eric didn't reply for a while. "What makes you say that?"
"I can feel you like a newborn. You could've easily hidden these from me. But your feelings for Sookie are quite strong that even you can't keep them buried." Eric didn't say anything, and Godric knew that something was different. Godric closed his office door for privacy. "Sookie feels the same thing for you."
Eric looked down on the floor and grimaced. "I can't act upon them."
"Why is that?" He asked, genuinely puzzled.
"You may not see Sookie like I do, but it is necessary for her survival."
"What do you mean?"
"Sookie is every vampire's dream. A part-fae, innocent and…untouched."
"Where is this discussion going?"
"If Warlow finds Sookie, what do you think he'll do to us?" He didn't wait for an answer. "He'll kill us in his own choosing."
"We can defeat him Eric."
"That is something even I can't be sure of. The only way we can be sure if Sookie kills Warlow instead."
"I cannot let him get close to her. We will fight him Eric. And we will win."
"What if we die?"
"We have sworn ourselves to protect her. It will be worth it. For her freedom."
"Freedom will be the only thing she has left." Eric stopped and calmed himself before speaking again. "Warlow had made his efforts to approach the Stackhouse family as kind and considerate as possible. When he returns, he will make sure Sookie is by his side again for sure. But he will act as a kind gentleman. He won't force her."
"How can you be sure?" Godric asked, already knowing the answer.
"It is easier to have a slave come willingly than a defiant one." Eric scowled. "Sookie is trained. Sookie can be taught to deceive him. Sookie can come close to Warlow and he will let his guard down."
"By seducing him."
"Yes. And striking him when he is the most vulnerable. Only she can get close to him enough to get a definite hit on him. If she is found the same way she was in, vulnerable and innocent even ignorant, there will be no reason for him not to have any suspicions about her."
